Hello and thank you for being here, friend! Our objective with this episode was to talk about some of the most important issues we could possibly discuss, but do so in a way that brings comfort and peace rather than doom and gloom. There's already enough worry in the world, and Jesus said, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” Our prayer is that the reality that each of our lives will end one day will sober us and we will ponder the implications of this as Solomon did in Ecclesiastes. Don't wait to meet the Lord before it's too late! Reach out and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. There's no time like the present. God bless! This week's podcast episode focuses on various practical ways to break out of a dry season spiritually. The important thing to remember as Christians is that we don't have to rush God's timing. Of course we want to feel the Lord's presence in amazing ways all the time, but we also trust that there is purpose in the “valleys” and He will use it all for His glory and our good. If you've been wanting to rekindle the fire in your spirit and walk closer with the Lord, tune in to hear some resources and habits that have helped us tremendously.Follow us on IG:@asformeandmyhousepodcast@milenaciciotti @jordanciciottiSubscribe to As For Me and My House Podcast and Milena's Channel on YouTubeJoin our Facebook Group: As For Me and My House PodcastA loving environment to talk all things podcast, share prayer requests and praise reports! Greetings and God's blessings on you, friends! We are super excited to share some thoughts about how we are intentionally raising our children to know the Lord. You may recall we did an episode about whether or not you should indoctrinate your children and this episode builds on that conversation. Once you decide how you and your spouse as a team are going to raise your children, it's time to put together an intentional strategy to make that plan happen. This episode shares a little bit of our strategy and we hope it helps you as you consider these things in your own life. Today on the Dads with Daughters Podcast we spoke with Christian recording artist John Waller and his daughter Sophee. We talk to both about fatherhood but also about a brand new song that has been released that allowed John and Sophee to create a song together. About John Waller Much has been accomplished by singer/songwriter John Waller over the past two decades, including a successful career as a solo artist, but it is his faith and role as a father of 10 that provides inspiration for his newest single, “What My Father Does,” releasing June 18. A rousing anthem leading into 2021's Father's Day weekend, the song introduces the recording debut of Waller's 16-year-old daughter, Sophee Waller. Available to pre-save now, the song will also be featured on Waller's sixth full-length studio album, A Family Thing, slated to release this fall. Poetically capturing the inspiring truth of the gospel, “What My Father Does” and the entire new album revolve around God's unequivocal and undeserved love. “My sins don't dismiss it and my achievements don't warrant it,” says John. “I see that more clearly today than ever, and the freedom in that is overwhelming. It's how I love my children and it's how God loves His. It's what my Father does.” Drawing inspiration from a father's love in the parable of the Prodigal Son shared by Jesus, the song builds from an ethereal, piano-driven ambiance into a triumphant, powerful expression filled with a full string orchestra and anchored by father/daughter harmonies. “Sophee has this phenomenal, raspy, Lauren Daigle-like voice that people are drawn to,” continues John. “It was so much fun getting to sing this song with her.” “My favorite part was going to the studio and really seeing it come to life, just the process behind it all,” shares Sophee. “I loved being a part of this because I feel like this is my calling in life. This project is a little sneak peek into that, and, of course, just getting to do this with my Dad is really special. We got to bond a lot during the process of making this song.” The Waller family story, like most people's stories, is one of a constant trajectory forward but with hundreds of unexpected rabbit trails to places they never anticipated. One of those trails led the family to Ukraine where they adopted three siblings who are now an integral part of the Waller family. Other trails included moving the family across the country for a time in local church ministry that resulted in learning to slow down to catch up to God. Now back in his hometown of Senoia, GA, Waller feels he is producing the best music of his life, and is writing lyrics that come from deeply personal encounters with God and time with family. “It just feels different now,” says Waller. “I'm writing from a different place, and with a sense that God is really going to use this music to minister to moms and dads and families, like He has ministered to our family.” The new song follows Waller's first new radio single in over two years, “But God.” The song, initially released from Radiate Music this spring, will be featured on the upcoming album that will be released independently. Known for such inspiring hit singles as “Crazy Faith” (featured in the hit box office film War Room), “While I'm Waiting” (featured in 2008's No.1 independent film Fireproof), “As For Me and My House,” “Awakening (aka The Coffee Song)” and many more, Waller has continually used his gifts as a singer and songwriter to inspire, educate and encourage people across all walks of life. WOW Y'all! We cannot believe it's been four years since we stood at the altar before God, each other, and our loved ones to vow our commitment as husband and wife. In this episode, we wanted to share four lessons we would've taught ourselves four years ago, and also share some details from our wedding day + honeymoon that we've never talked about at length before. One of the biggest breakthroughs in our relationship as husband and wife has come from setting healthy boundaries in our marriage. When we experienced the reality of setting up a system to protect, prevent, and prosper our relationship, it had a ripple effect on our relationship with our children, family, and friends as well. Of course the ultimate expression of relationship for those of us who belong to the Lord is to be in close fellowship with Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit. If this foundation is unstable, it makes for turbulence and discord in every other relationship. We want to share some lessons we've learned along the way in hopes of being a source of encouragement and admonition for those of us who seek to honor God in our relationships. In this episode, I share about habits I do and don't subscribe to as a Christian. I was inspired to share these from one of my favorite podcasts, As For Me and My House. I believe we all have different convictions as of how we want to live our lives, so I wanted to share habits I personally follow- including sticking to a morning routine and investing, and those I don't follow- like gossiping about my husband and drinking only in certain scenarios. Hey friends! Thank you for being here as we share our hearts on some rather important (and debated) philosophies when it comes to disciplining children. We are limited in our direct experience as parents in that our children are very little, but we do have perspective from our childhood that we want to offer as teaching points as well. Our goal is not to tell you what is right and what is wrong, nor how you ought to discipline your own children, but merely to have a discussion and provide our two cents. If we can give you any tools to add to your parenting toolbelt, then our goal will be reached. May God grant you wisdom, patience, and love as you navigate what it means to parent well.Compassion InternationalBe a part of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name at compassion.com/myhouse Follow us on IG:@asformeandmyhousepodcast@milenaciciotti @jordanciciottiSubscribe to As For Me and My House Podcast and Milena’s Channel on YouTubeJoin our Facebook Group: As For Me and My House PodcastA loving environment to talk all things podcast, share prayer requests and praise reports! Hey y'all! Thanks for being here. We had a blast with this episode, and as you can imagine, there's a ton we wanted to unpack as we share some of these things that are deeply important to us. As a disclaimer, if there is something that we say we don't subscribe to, that doesn't mean we absolutely never do it, rather, we openly acknowledge it as wrong and (by God's grace) fight to rid it from our habitual nature. In other words, we are not wanting to come off as hypocritical, and instead want to echo Paul's wording in Philippians 3:12 - "Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own." What we have found to be true in our lives is that when we make the things of God (as revealed to us in His Word) a habit, then we are actually liberated and not restricted by bring Him honor. Hey everyone! So glad you're here!! On this episode, we wanted to take an honest look at some of the challenges, struggles, and ideologies that our culture is immersed in regarding what it means to be masculine. In an age of questioning the past traditions in hopes of a better tomorrow, we who follow Jesus ought to be on the cutting edge of conversations that describe the roles, responsibilities, and philosophy of manliness. In a world that has perverted and even manipulated what it means to be a man, husband, and father, it is our conviction to turn to the Scriptures as our one and only source of Truth in understanding manhood. While the world forces husbands to be either dominating or pacifying in their marriage, the Bible gives a tertiary option to be a servant-leader. While the world tells fathers to either straighten up their kids with harsh beatings or simply sit back and let your child parent YOU, the Word of God says to discipline in love, without provoking your children to anger (or trauma). We only scratch the surface of the ways society has influenced manhood in this episode, but we hope it serves as a starting point for conversations in your own context. As always, we are so grateful to God for your love and support! It is mutual on our end, too. For the glory of God alone! Hey friends! This episode gets a little juicy as we open up our hearts--our souls--to you in attempt to express the things that convict us to our core. It is important to understand where we are coming from when we speak of convictions. We are Bible-believing followers of Jesus and we choose to trust Him instead of the world as our standard of truth. That foundation is what we are building on and motivated by in our convictions. The word "conviction" means more than just a feeling or an opinion. It is a deep-seated passion that remains constant regardless of popular opinion or societal norms. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. “As For Me and My House” from 2020-11-08 by Matt Matthews.
How should Bible-believing followers of Jesus respond to Halloween? Is it a harmless holiday for candy and costumes, or is there a deeper evil and spiritual darkness behind it? Join us and our mentor, Darry, as we discuss some of the origins and meaning behind Halloween and how the spiritual realm plays a role in this holiday. It’s our prayer that we would handle this topic with grace and truth, as is our goal with everything. We hope you are encouraged by this episode! Hey y'all! On this episode, we share some thoughts on what it means to indoctrinate, teach, guide, and discipline your children. Coming from the Judeo-Christian worldview, the Bible--God's Word--is our guide and ultimate source of absolute truth. You may not agree with us, and that is okay--just know if you aren't teaching your child as they grow, someone or something WILL teach them. Our prayer for ourselves and for you all listening is that God would shape and prepare us for the calling to guide and influence the next generation for His glory and purposes. Lord bless you! This week, Jordan and Milena both sit down to discuss what it means to follow Jesus in being a husband. Servant leadership and self-sacrificial love are some of the major themes that come to mind when looking at husbandhood through the lens of the Bible. We are so grateful for you tuning in! 194 As For Me and My House, We Will Serve the Lord A Guided Christian Meditation on Josua 24:13-15 I'm Chaplain Jared and I work as a hospice chaplain and an ICU chaplain, my purpose in making this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and to be more open for your heart to be changed by the Spirit of God. By using centuries old form of Christian Meditation named Lectio Divina: Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to contacting God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Bible verses for Meditation: Joshua 24 NIV 13 So I gave you a land on which you did not toil and cities you did not build; and you live in them and eat from vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant.’ 14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” NRSV 13 I gave you a land on which you had not labored, and towns that you had not built, and you live in them; you eat the fruit of vineyards and oliveyards that you did not plant. 14 “Now therefore revere the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness; put away the gods that your ancestors served beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord. 15 Now if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served in the region beyond the River or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Meditation on Scripture: Each of us have blessings in our lives and many things which we do not deserve. Things which were prepared for us without our forethought and action. The very resurrection of our Lord is an example of this. This is the situation we find ourselves in. Despite this many of us face challenges. Perhaps even things things can be what is referred to here. Perhaps our fields do have some vicious weeds in them. Regardless, we have a life ideally suited to give us the experiences we need to grow and choose faith in God. During this time of introspection that follows the new year I hope that we can take this message to heart. It is natural and helpful to look deep inside ourselves for improvement. We can look deep in our hearts as thoughtfully as possible. We can ask ourselves in my home and in my heart, who do I truly serve. When confronted with temptation what do I choose? When confronted with doubt, what do I choose to do and to believe? I think an important concept here is who do we choose this day. You live only today. When tomorrow arrives it will be today then. When we die someday it will feel like a today. When we go to our final spiritual reward that will become our eternal new type of moment. In this moment we can choose. In this moment we can serve. As we made new goals and objectives may we not experience them with the fear and weight of the future. We can’t carry the weight of all future decisions in this moment. All we have to do is choose God this day, this hour, this moment. Set your goals to be big and then focus on what you need to do today. If one day you find yourself struggling against the weight of continuing your new habit or stopping old habbits bring your focus in and focus on just this moment. Today I can live a pure life. This moment I can choose God. This second I can release all inappropriate desire and urges. We can make goals for the future then live in this moment continually toward their fulfillment. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling being patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Updates: Final Question: What can you decide to do in this moment? Final Thought: I have found that something that gets in the way of our positive intentions is the worry of the future. How could we possibly do this forever? That is too much stress and pressure. I have found it immensely helpful to powerfully commit to the new behavior I seek or the new goal but not get burdened by the weight of all the future. In my heart I try and focus on the moment. The Bible talks about going through both Hills and Valleys in our lives. Remember, the rain falls on the just and the unjust alike. This might seem like God has abandoned us while we are in our Valley but God can turn everything around for His perfect plan for our lives. I have realized that the times I feel very close to Jesus and give my trust to him is in the Valleys of life. I need to have total dependence on Him because usually things are out of my control. We all go through Hills, Valleys, and Plateaus in our life but it is our job to seek and grow in relationship with the Creator of ALL things through every season. Remember, you are loved and valued by Jesus. Dive into a relationship with Him. Once you take the first step or the one hundredth step towards Him, He will be ready with open arms! Today’s message looks at some crisis moments in the lives of Joshua, Samuel and David in which their strength of commitment to the will of God became evident. All three of them make the amazing statement “As for me”. Yes, they decided to follow after God, whatever the cost. But consider God’s side of this commitment. David wrote in Psalm 18 – “As for God, His way is perfect.” The Lord will guide the Christian's footsteps and meets their commitment with the strength needed to carry it through.
