Episode 66 | In this week's episode, Jason had the opportunity to connect with Keith Taylor in the final week of his 30-year tenure at Beulah Alliance Church in Edmonton. In their conversation, Keith reflects back on 42 years of ministry and the ways he saw God move in different ways, in different seasons. He also shares about the unique history of Beulah, born out of a missionary-style movement to Western Canada in the early 1900s, and speaks to young pastors about what can help them serve faithfully for decades to come. As Keith finished his time as the Lead Pastor of Beulah, it was also the beginning of a new era of leadership for the church. Almost five years ago, the journey began as the elders board and Keith started to look towards what would be next and how they might begin preparing for the search and evaluation process. Looking ahead, Keith says he isn't done just yet! Although his time at Beulah is over, he is excited by the ways God might lead him to new assignments and ways to serve others still. He plans to spend time with younger pastors and to invest in the next generation of leaders who face a challenging Canadian landscape ahead. He has great faith though, knowing that if pastors continue to rely on God's power, He will ultimately continue to build His Church across our country. About | Keith Taylor served for 30 years as Lead Pastor of Beulah Alliance Church in Edmonton, recently passing on that role in Spring of 2021. Previously, Keith was lead pastor for 11 years at the Alliance Church in Vernon, BC. He is a passionate preacher, leader, and champion of people and enjoys continuing to be a part of Beulah after his retirement. He has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Jacquie, for 45 years. They have three married children and 6 awesome grandkids. Keith has served on the Ambrose University Board, Alpha Canada Board and numerous other denominational boards. He also has a passion for motorcycles and sailing. Blog | www.ccln.ca/episodes/episode66 Website | www.ccln.ca
Todays episode of Share The Struggle starts with a miss opportunity to name a sports franchise the Cleveland steamers and an Olympic protest. Some rewarding volunteer work and some outdoor progress provide some mental progress. As Keith tries to enjoy himself he battles with the feeling of guilt as his to do list keeps growing. This emotional battle inspires some research that leads to some insight from www.medium.com and www.healthline.com. Articles from Cherrie Kwok a Toronto based educator and MD Alex Lickerman examining productivity guilt and time anxiety put a spot light on Keith's recent struggles. Understanding the struggles provide the necessary information to prepare for the battle within.

Welcome to our newest show at Impact Radio USA, "INTERVIEWS and MORE", the show that features past interviews from our guests on "Dr. Paul's Family Talk" radio show. In addition to continuing to promote our guests, this show also gives our listeners another opportunity to hear the great information that our guests have provided. As for the "More", we will cover everything from food, to cars, to Bible verses, to music, and so much "MORE"! On today's segment, we will talk to Keith Senzer and Janet Howle: KEITH SENZER Keith Senzer struggled with low self-esteem, bullying from others, and undiagnosed ADHD as a youth, and now, as a Life Coach, he is helping young people and their parents over come the same obstacles that he overcame through his own efforts. As Keith stated, "I truly believe my purpose and calling is effecting change in our teens so that they may grow up to be powerful, responsible and influential adults who want to make the world a better place. I wish that Life Coaching was something that was accessible when I was growing up. I was bullied as a teen and to this day believe that I had ADHD which went undiagnosed. This had a tremendous impact on my academic success and in turn my self-confidence. I struggled to make new friends and was viewed as a snob because I was so shy. My insecurities kept me from connecting with people and recognizing social cues that I should have responded to appropriately. Since 2014 I have dedicated my life to helping teens become the best version of themselves and teaching them to be our future leaders with a goal to heal our world." https://shiftyourpower.com JANET HOWLE Janet Howle has accomplished much in her life, including working as a physical therapist, maintaining a university position, operating her own business with her husband, traveling the world, and now .... an author! As Janet Howle wrote, "I wrote my first piece of fiction the summer I was ten- or there about. It was a story about a young, bored girl who, despite an otherwise happy childhood, runs away to join a circus. It wasn’t a very long story since I couldn’t decide if my heroine was going to be a bareback rider or aerialist, but I did know she would wear one of those sparkly, sequined leotards and tights-pink, or maybe purple. I also had no idea how to develop a plot or describe characters. My teen years weren’t particularly remarkable. I wasn’t rebellious, well, maybe a little. Fast forward to adulthood. I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in physical therapy and I immediately specialized in pediatrics. A few years (and a marriage) later, I left Michigan for graduate school at the University of North Carolina and on completion, joined the faculty there. During these years, both as a clinician and an assistant professor, I wrote a lot of nonfiction, you know, case reports and academic writing, that sort of thing. Okay, maybe academic writing does require a bit of fiction. Now to Uncharted. The setting, characters, and plot draw on my many years sailing the Bahamas mixed in with a shady period in the history of these islands. That more or less brings you up-to-date. I am working on a sequel to Uncharted. It will be a while until it is even a completed manuscript, but it will draw on the period in which the Duke of Windsor ruled the Bahamas. Our next rally will be Cuba if this Covid virus ever goes away." https://www.janethowleauthor.com
Today we are thrilled to embark on a new adventure here on PeerSpectrum. The first episode of our new guest host series. We’re inviting back some of our most popular past guests and handing over the microphone. As Keith and I have learned over the past few years, there is an art and craft to interviewing. Playing on the field has given us both a deeper appreciation and admiration for the true masters of the game. Masters such as the late Larry King (who passed away just last month) and his very close friend, and our most recent guest, Cal Fussman. As we discussed last time, one of my all-time favorite podcast interviews was Cal Fussman interviewing Larry King, on Tim Ferriss’s podcast. It was a rare opportunity to listen in as two masters discussed their game. These types of conversations are likely more common than we think. It’s just not as common to hear them. Today we are happy to have our good friend and past guest, Dr. Robert Adams back with us. As you may recall, Bob is a former US Navy SEAL and command surgeon for the army’s elite Delta Force. A recently retired family physician in the UNC health system, Bob is also the author of two books, “Six Days of Impossible,” and “Swords and Saints: A Doctor’s Journey.” Today Bob is joined by his good friend and former colleague, Dr. Sean Mulvaney. Sean is also a former US Navy SEAL turned army physician. Their conversation will take us all around the world from the battle fields of Iraq and Afghanistan, to a surprise birthday party for Colin Powell aboard a US Navy warship. More importantly, Bob and Sean will spend some time discussing PTSD, what we currently know about it and how it is and will be treated. They also discuss a new and very promising PTSD treatment called Stellate Ganglion Block. Sean has treated hundreds of veterans, trauma survivors and others suffering the effects of PTSD. This includes Medal of Honor recipients Dakota Myer, whose treatment by Sean was dramatically featured in a recent 60 Minutes report. Let us know what you think of this new format. Who would you like to hear as a future guest host? We love hearing your ideas so keep them coming. With that said, let’s get started…
The Fintech Phenomenon is rarely about doing something entirely new. It’s about doing things in a new way that better fits the needs of the target market. The fintech model also enables the provider to reach underserved market segments. Lending is, of course, the core offering of banks. But between their legacy processes, underwriting requirements, compliance demands, and more, they simply aren’t nimble enough to serve new segments in our evolving economy. And the banking crisis of 2008 left them even more risk averse. That’s left small business lending wide open to fintechs. Case in point: the online seller, that small business that makes a product or buys wholesale and sells direct to customers through their own website and, for most, through marketplaces like Amazon and Shopify. Cash Flow is Everything Here’s where success can kill a business. If their online store and what they’re selling catches on, they’ve got a tiger by the tail. They’ve already invested their own money to get the store off the ground. But they have to keep buying inventory in order to fulfill orders. Where’s the capital to pay for that inventory to come from in order to do that? As the founder of multiple small businesses, I can tell you that cash flow management is a daily concern. It’s no different for these Amazon sellers because Amazon pays out every two weeks and it may take a month or more for the funds from some transactions to hit the seller’s bank account. With cash flow “everything” for the SMB, funding business growth is a major challenge. To keep up, you have to reinvest to feed the beast. You take all your earnings and put them into new inventory. That’s where our guest for this episode comes in. Keith Smith is co-founder and CEO of Payability, a firm that has loaned over $2.5B since 2015 to Amazon and Shopify sellers. Data Enables the Model Payability, sitting between the seller and the marketplace, sees massive data sets that help it and its algorithms determine risk. Given the volume of data, the myriad sources of these signals, it’s impossible for humans to do the underwriting. Machine learning can examine far more signals than a human can ever handle. So, as Keith puts it, Payability’s staff “trains the robots” to help the company accurately price financing for those who would otherwise be locked out this kind of business. The Money Supply Chain In the business of selling money, you have to have access to it. You have to be part of the money supply chain. Drastic changes in the finance ecosystem have taken place since 2008. With traditional banks stepping back from small business lending, fintechs have entered the money supply chain, as the new distributor of funds, enabled by their ML-based underwriting and risk models. The fintech underwriting sophistication has been a boon to traditional sources of financing, both banks and institutional investors. They still sell money; they just do it through the new fintech channel. The COVID Accelerator As a funder of online businesses that have benefited from the COVID-driven shift to e-commerce, Payability has prospered in 2020. As Keith put it “we’ve seen four or five years of growth out of a single year.” In Glenbrook’s payments consulting work, our discussions with merchants, billers, sellers, and their technology parters have included this common refrain. COVID has hurt many but others, able to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the digital shift, have prospered. Keith Robinson’s 30-year career in safety started with a direct command from his captain in the Navy.“When I was a young officer in the Navy, the captain I served under came to me and said, ‘We need you to be the assistant safety officer on this nuclear-powered aircraft carrier,’” Keith says. “The Navy puts you where they need you versus where you want to be. I had no experience with it, but I spent my final two years in the Navy and on my ship as the assistant safety officer, got a lot of experience, and discovered a passion for the job.”Once he was done serving, that passion didn’t go away. Keith took safety job after safety job, starting at Four Seasons Environmental Services. He bounced around for the next couple of decades until six years ago, when he left Stantec for his current job as Vice President of Safety at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc.On this episode of the No Accident podcast, presented by TRUCE, Keith discusses how making a personal connection with the employee, providing the personal touch, is ultimately what helps to motivate safe behavior, because ultimately it’s up to the individual to make the right decisions.. He also shares how to speak the C-suite’s language — that is, talk in terms of metrics that they care about, such as productivity and profitability.Keith also discusses how and why an injury negatively affects business, noting that it “impacts the company's ability to produce whatever product it is or whatever service it is in the long run.”He points out that when somebody gets injured, it’s important to remember that “they didn't do it on purpose. They may have been careless about it, but they did not intend to get hurt. That's not the result that they wanted. So we need to really make sure that as leaders, we are approaching people with that same perspective.”Featured Guest

I was delighted to have the opportunity to virtually sit down with one of their clients, Kieth Moran from SL Controls. People clearly play a big part in the development of any business. But for SL Controls, the advancements in technology (robotics, virtual reality and data) meant their strategy was constantly changing. So I wanted to find out how they communicated those changes to their people. Without affecting personal development or culture. Implementing a 3-year strategy, and using quarterly reviews, 1-1s conversations have been massive for the overall success of the SL Controls strategy. As Keith beautiful put it: “The real power is giving people purpose. Once people have a purpose and they know what they’re doing, why they’re doing it and what it’s contributing the overall strategy. As one of the world’s leading communications specialists, no one knows more about the effect of impactful communication than Keith Daniell, a former television presenter and journalist for the likes of ITV and Channel 4. As Keith explains in this week’s conversation, communication now is more important than ever. He offers some practical advice on how you can maximise the impact of your communication in this new world, which we now seem to have been suddenly thrust... KEY TAKEAWAYS New communication technologies, such as video conferencing and remote conversations, will not be going away, even when the effects of lockdown are lifted. It is now more important than ever to recognise not just the ways in which humanity communicates verbally, but also the more nuanced ways in which we physically communicate, and seek to replicate this through new means. Communication is too often filtered through pretence due to our need to appear in a certain light when with certain people. This can easily be demonstrated by comparing the way in which we communicate with strangers, and how we communicate with those we know best. Communication is generally believed to 55% physiology, 38% tonality and 7% verbal (words). This demonstrates the need for a greater depth of expression than merely verbal. Learning is actually maximised by failure. Failure in any task instils within us a greater sense of achievement when we are victorious. BEST MOMENTS ‘If we want to make a difference then we need to have the ability to make an impact’ ’There’s no point trying to teach someone to curve the ball like Beckham!’ ‘Life is simple, but we complicate it’ ‘What we actually say is often less important than the way we say it' VALUABLE RESOURCES Keith.daniell@tmgtraining.co.uk TMG Training – www.tmgtraining.co.uk TMG Training YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4bkORVZzm9tR94C0zcsXYA Mastering The Game Of Life ABOUT THE GUEST Keith is the owner and founder of TMG Training, a businessman, director and trustee as well as an associate of Henley and Oxford University Business Schools. He definitely subscribes to being one of those mentioned the iconic ‘Think Different’ Apple commercial narrated by Steve Jobs in 1977: “Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do!” Paul has a long and distinguished history of coaching & mentoring – particularly focusing on helping people make the transition from pain to purpose; a journey he has made himself, from the depths of a deep dark existence, to now living a life of happiness and prosperity. Keith Nothacker, Founder and CEO of BACtrack, even in college knew that he wanted to be an entrepreneur. When he was looking for something -- anything -- to sell online, he decided it was crazy that the police could test anyone for their blood alcohol level, but consumers couldn’t test themselves. So he decided to solve that problem. BACtrack pioneered the consumer market for breathalyzers, positioning the product as an affordable, consumer-friendly safety device. In 2004, BACtrack became the first company ever to receive U.S. Food & Drug Administration clearance to legally sell the devices to consumers for personal use.Ledge sat down with Keith to share the story of his company, from design to prototypes, manufacturing to distribution, and into the age of the smartphone. As Keith announces his new stand-up album Drip Drip, he questions if there's any hope left for this world. This reminds him of his thoughts during his track World Peace from his 2011 album Stay Inside. [2018's Drip Drip now available at KATG.com/store]
As Keith explains how sin causes us to die spiritually, he also speaks of the hope and freedom we have in Christ. Paul tells us in this passage, once we count the cost of following Christ and live for Him, sin has no power over our lives. Jesus defeated death and His life gives glory to God, as ours should. Keith plainly explains we are no longer slaves to sin once we are in pursuit of Jesus. We are truly set free at the time of complete surrender. Our hope lies in the defeat of death, the resurrection of Christ and the grace God gives that is far greater than our sin. Romans 6:5-14 Keith Wilson, Youth Pastor
As Keith explains in our continued series, "God's Word", we make following Christ burdensome. So often, we take our eyes off Jesus and do not rest in Him or follow the leading of the Spirit. In the gospel of Matthew, we see Jesus' burden is light and His yolk is easy if we will link up and lean into Him. Jesus wants to carry our weight and have us rest in Him. When we are following the Holy Spirit and become totally reliant on Christ, we are not working on our own; we are working with Christ. Matthew 11 Keith Wilson, Youth Pastor
In the third part of our "Faith" series, Keith Wilson walks us through what our lives will look like in comparison to the rest of the world if we have true faith. When our faith is genuine and our hearts are seeking after God, we will want to be more like Jesus in every area of our lives. Enoch had faith in God in such a way that death did not have a grip on him here on earth or after God took him. Through the life of Enoch, we can clearly see God's desire to be a part of our story and the great love He has for His children. We see that even in our sinfulness and despite the unmatched holiness of God He wants a relationship with you and I. He not only wants a relationship with us, He made a way for that to happen through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. We sometimes search for other things to fill a void or a place inside ourselves that only Jesus can satisfy. As Keith so simply stated, "faith is going to Jesus to satisfy your soul's hunger". Hebrews 11:5-6 Keith Wilson, Youth Pastor

The Game vs. Meek Mill (14:05) It seems like Meek Mill keeps walking into L’s. The latest coming at the hand The Game. Within a week Game dropped 92 Bars an bagged that up with Pest Control. To make it something serious the Game dedicated an entire visual experience for Pest Control. Even with Meek Mill’s OOOUU Remix it’s like nothing he is doing can seem to connect in anyway shape or form. As Keith said he is a “millennial gangsta rapper” and does things about the money. Chance The Rapper’s Independence (32:28) Chance has shown that his moves are about Chance. He drops an album excursively on Apple and then follows that up with the live stream of the Magnificent Coloring Day on Tidal. Chance is doing some things that haven’t been seen on an independent level in the streaming era. With Drake getting a billion streams on Apple, we could possibly see Chance go a more profitable route at the end of the day. It’s all about progression in the music. We compared the progressions of Drake, Jeezy, and T. I. FX’s Atlanta (58:45) When it comes to TV shows, I’m very selective. When it comes to TV shows set in Atlanta, my expectations couldn’t be in any lower. So when FX decided that they were green lighting the Donald Glover’s ‘Atlanta‘ set in the ATL, I sighed but was optimistic. I’m so glad I gave it a shot. This could be possibly the best show since Mr. Robot. We check in on the first season so far. Thanks again for listening to the show! Keith Zimmer from CrossFit Happy Valley in Clackamas, Oregon joins us today.Keith is an experienced CrossFit coach and affiliate owner. He got his start by crossing paths with CrossFit co-founder Lauren Glassman nearly seven years ago. Keith’s pursuit of excellence is unparalleled and today we talk with him about his rise from a twelve-foot-by-twelve-foot corner gym, to an 11,000 square foot CrossFit Mecca. After first just going to a CrossFit gym to see what the fuss was about, Keith was instantly hooked on this newfound religion. He immediately passed through the certifications needed and even took many of them twice. After moving to Oregon and breaking up with Lauren, Keith found himself broke with no money, no clients, and no way forward. Desperate to continue his dream, he started a small gym in the corner of his friend Jason’s MMA gym. In need of clients, he offered $40 for unlimited workouts 24 hours a day. As the struggle continued, Keith thought about quitting many times. He nearly packed up shop, moved back to Utah, and continued his trade of working as an electrician. However, an intervention spurred Keith to stick it out and stay the course. He slept on a couch in the back office of the MMA gym and lived off of Raman Noodles and canned chili. After building his clientele, Keith found himself outgrowing his space and was able to make the move to his own gym and open Happy Valley CrossFit.Keith learned about running his gym from one of the best, Lauren Glassman. He says that her single biggest piece of advice is to not focus on yourself but focus on nurturing the client. Keith describes his gym as a Thanksgiving feast where it is simply like having family around all the time. In some instances, he can take this motto too far and become so focused on the client that he is essentially acting like a martyr. Many of these self-defeating mindsets came from Keith’s upbringing and always trying to please his mother and father. As his business grew, it was obvious that several changes needed to be made and his reluctance to do so was negatively affecting not only himself but his clients. As Keith worked with Two Brain Coaching to raise his rates to be more in line with what was fair, he began to see the positive impacts of doing so. By raising rates instead of being scared of running customers off he was able to provide higher quality service, pay his coaches better, and provide better equipment. Now that Keith has implemented these new business approaches he is living with less stress, frustration, and anger. Follow along today and learn exactly what Keith did to improve his business, his life, and his client’s lives so you don’t have to reach the bottom to figure it out.In addition, Keith will cover questions like: How much should a CrossFit affiliate make? What does it take to succeed? Is it necessary to hit the bottom before making the changes necessary to succeed?Timeline:0:18 Keith Zimmer Introduction.2:31 How Keith found CrossFit and grew his desire to coach.6:19 Meeting Lauren Glassman co-founder of CrossFit.11:43 Moving to Portland and breaking up with Lauren.15:45 Broke, Hungry but filled with passion and desire.21:52 From humble beginnings to success.26:30 Best advice from Lauren, the co-founder of CrossFit.29:45 The CrossFit Gym is like a family Thanksgiving.30:28 Being a CrossFit martyr.34:25 The need to make others happy and its effects on his business.39:10 What stopped Keith from raising rates.40:28 Trusting the Two-Brain Business method.42:06 A wild dream that related to my business.45:05 Projection of feelings and ideas onto clients.48:20 How has life changed as Happy Valley CrossFit has grown.52:27 A gym based on false reality.53:08 How much should an affiliate make?55:09 Is it necessary to hit the bottom before making the changes necessary to succeed?

This stellar lesson introduces you to the basic vocabulary of blues phrasing that came out of the pre-WWII Delta style via the legendary Muddy Waters. As Keith says, this stuff is easier to play than it is to read, so he walks you through it - the droning bass on the low E (with pick or thumb), the accompanying finger-picked high E, the gritty but simple lines taken from the basic blues scale. In short order, you can become your own down-home blues rhythm section, which will strengthen your work when you play with a group. This lesson includes Power Tab and is featured on the following CD compilations: BLUES U, Rhythm Guitar SWAT Camp, Blues Bash.
