The Creed: The Father, The Creator | Louisa Mulvaney | 19.10.25 by St Michael's Church, Chester Square
Most people think willpower is like a superpower — you're either born with it, or not.But that exact thinking might be exactly what keeps you from doing big, exciting things. Will treats willpower like a muscle. One that's built through repetitions like breakups, long runs, awkward conversations, and the guts to record your first podcast episode when your voice is shaking.William Mulvaney is a coder who has turned into a motivational podcaster and is now creating an app to help empower people with their performance habits. In this episode, we talk about what willpower really looks like. It's not a buzzword. It's the slow, steady practice of doing the thing you said you'd do, even when it sucks. There's something in this episode for the high performers, the emotionally stunted, the quietly ambitious, and anyone who's ever thought, I don't feel ready, but I can't sit still anymore. Here's what we get into:⦁ How Will's fear of rejection led to a podcast — and a total mindset shift⦁ What ultramarathon training teaches you about willpower⦁ The difference between willpower and white-knuckling⦁ Why discipline builds self-trust (and how to actually practice it)⦁ Balancing emotional expression with emotional control⦁ How crying became part of Will's personal growth⦁ Lessons from Socrates on wisdom and showing up for your values⦁ The "flat tire" analogy for getting back on track⦁ How Will tracks habits and emotional states with his app, Grooves⦁ What running 50 miles alone teaches you about life (and yourself)Get more from Will @willpower_lifestyleHis App - Grooves https://mygrooves.app/ https://williammulvaney.com/

Faith isn't neat or polished. It's raw, grateful, and poured out in love. When we bring our whole selves to Jesus, our pride, our shame, our past, He meets us with forgiveness and grace
Go figure, a dysfunctional, MAGA-controlled federal government has ground to a halt; while there's a cynical explanation as to why the Trump White House and his Congressional bootlickers are okay with this, courtesy of 'Politics Girl' Leigh McGowan, a New York Times op/ed puts it plainly: "The American people deserve and ought to demand better options."I'm actually not so sure; the American people voted for this because "trans people!!!" But that's not to say we, the American people, can't continue to play a role in how things like federal government shutdowns play out. We can throw heat at either side (or even both), but one side has cooked up a whopper of a lie about undocumented immigrants and access to 'free healthcare,' and the other is fighting to keep health insurance rates affordable for working families. Former Trump OMB director Mick Mulvaney was cornered by Brian Tyler Cohen on this point and Mulvaney filibustered. House majority leader Mike Johnson, on CNN with Kaitlin Collins, also got corrected live on the air.Speaking of Mikey J., what's up with the latest ultimatum put on him regarding a Grindr history? Bernie Sanders gave his assessment and offered his terms: no loss of healthcare coverage for 15-20 million Americans, no steep increases in insurance rates, an end to the evisceration of NIH funding, and an end to our sprint towards authoritarian fascism. Obviously untenable to the MAGA GOP. ------Have ya heard the one about the drunk and the fat guy who dodged serving in the military brought hundreds of military brass to a lecture on fitness to serve? Donald Trump - about 44 minutes into his latest inane rant - suggested to those assembled military higher-ups that AMERICAN CITIES should be used as "training grounds" for National Guard troops. Oh, and permitted them to be physically violent with anyone who protests: "they spit, we hit."
We believe God is calling us to be a guardian city. A church of prayer, peace, and protection in the heart of London. Just as St Michael points us to Jesus, we want to be a people who are bold, empowering, and loving, standing together for our city and celebrating God's goodness.
God calls us to be bold, empowering, and loving. As we settle, sow, and serve, we seek the peace of London. Trusting that when the city flourishes, we too will flourish.

When God sees London, He sees a garden. A city renewed and filled with His presence. We're called to be bold, empowering, and loving, so that London and the world would know Jesus' heart.
London doesn't need optimising, it needs transforming. This talk calls us to be bold: to stay salty, grow in number, and spread out across the city, bringing growth and guarding against decay. We're invited to repent, shine publicly, on the street and online, and welcome people to encounter Jesus through community, courses, and Sundays. Let's be a church that can't be hidden! The salt of the earth and light of the world.

In June of 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court held in Kelo v. City of New London that the local government did not violate the Fifth Amendment's Public Use Clause when it condemned private residential lots and transferred them to commercial developers to promote local economic development as part of a comprehensive municipal development plan. Kelo was certainly a landmark decision and, twenty years later, its impact is still felt and merits further consideration. Join our panel as it discusses Kelo’s legacy, the nature of “public use,” and the judiciary’s current and future relationship with eminent domain.Featuring:Prof. Peter Byrne, John Hampton Baumgartner, Jr. Professor of Real Property Law; Faculty Director, Georgetown Environmental Law and Policy Program; Faculty Director, Georgetown Climate Resource Center, Georgetown Law CenterWesley W. Three years ago, trans content creator and actor Dylan Mulvaney posted a video on TikTok documenting her first day of girlhood. Though she didn't expect to turn the post into a series, Mulvaney says the videos became a way to track both her journey and her experience of trans joy. Now, she's out with a memoir called Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer, which continues to document her transition, as well as her rise to social media stardom. In today's episode, Mulvaney speaks with NPR's Juana Summers about religion, earnestness, and the fallout of a controversial partnership with Bud Light. To listen to Book of the Day sponsor-free and support NPR's book coverage, sign up for Book of the Day+ at plus.npr.org/bookofthedayLearn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
President Trump slapped China with additional tariffs, raising the total to 104 percent. This ignited an immediate response by China with 84 percent tariff on imports of U.S. goods. This forced Apple to fly plane loads of goods to the U.S. before the tariffs struck to avoid the price hike. The Apple iphone may jump up to $2500 when it's all said and done if the countries don't come to the table to negotiate. China relies heavily on the U.S. market and has used and abused the rules of the WTO for years. President Trump is the first to put his foot down in the unfair practices China has employed for decades. President Trump also signed executive orders reinvigorating the coal industry. He lifted the Biden era restrictions on clean coal plants and is accelerating permitting and funding on new coal projects which will allow the coal industry to flourish. Mick Mulvaney is the former Director of the Office of Management and Budget as well as the former White House Chief of Staff. Mulvaney walks us through the current climate on global trade and tariffs. Are the tariffs more effective as a negotiating tool or a real source of income for the United States? Can domestic industries that have been squandered be brought back to life? Mulvaney gives us insight as to what to expect at home and abroad. China must be dealt with separately for geo-political reasons. China has abused the WTO rules, stolen American IP and failed to act like a leading industrial nation. Mulvaney says we treat China like a Communist nation, which is what they are. Social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney rose to fame through her series documenting her gender transition on TikTok. But along with love from many in the LGBTQIA+ community, the videos attracted hate and transphobia. Mulvaney found herself embroiled in a national controversy after her turn as a spokesperson for Bud Light led some to declare a boycott of Bud Light's products. Now, Mulvaney is chronicling her journey into womanhood and national fame in her new memoir, Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer.
When social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney, famous for chronicling her gender transition online in “365 Days of Girlhood,” posted a sponsored video promoting Bud Light, it quickly went viral, but not necessarily in a good way. “I would have never taken that offer had I known it would have brought me anything but joy.” She shares her experience in a new book Paper Doll: Notes from a Late Bloomer (March 11). “I felt so supported by the internet and in my life that I wasn't really weighing the gravity of what working with a brand with that scope and that broader audience really meant.” But when the spotlight from “Beergate” shined on her, “there was this energy of, Do I just not talk about this? Do we pretend it didn't happen?... No! The way that I navigate life is to share. Unfortunately, I'm addicted to oversharing and so I couldn't not.” But with the book, a new podcast and other projects in the mix, Mulvaney is ready to focus on her ultimate goal: “This year, every decision I make is coming back to, Does this help me become a Broadway diva?”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
Today's podcast show is a repurposing of the second half of a webinar we produced on January 17, 2025. That webinar was Part 3 of our webinar series entitled “The Impact of the Election on the CFPB and Others.” In Part 3, we focus on the role of state attorneys general in a rapidly shifting CFPB environment. Our previous podcast show, released on Tuesday February 11th, was a repurposing of the first half of our January 17th webinar in which Alan Kaplinsky had a “fireside chat” with Matthew J. Platkin, the New Jersey Attorney General. See here. The importance of Part 3 is underscored by the recent actions taken by President Trump to fire Rohit Chopra as Director of the CFPB and to appoint new Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, and then new Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director, Russell Vought, as Acting Directors, Messrs. Bessent, and Vought have essentially stopped all activities of the CFPB for the time being. During today's podcast show, Mike Kilgarriff, Joseph Schuster, Adrian King and Jenny Perkins of Ballard Spahr's Consumer Financial Services Group discussed in detail the following issues, among others: • CFPB post-election messaging to state attorneys general providing a roadmap to them on powers they may exercise under federal law, including the use of the UDAAP provision of Dodd-Frank (particularly the “abusive” prong) • The probable decline in collaboration with the CFPB following the change in administration • More networking of state attorneys general • What can we expect from state legislatures in enacting new consumer financial services protection laws? • What can we expect from state attorneys general and other state agencies in promulgating new consumer financial services protection laws? • The continuing need for companies to maintain a robust compliance management system Parts 1, 2 and 3 of our webinar series appear here, here, and here. Our podcast shows (repurposing Parts 1 and 2 of our webinar series) appear here, here, here, and here. The title of Part 1 is: “The Impact of the election on the CFPB: Regulations and other written guidance, which featured Alan Kaplinsky's “fireside chat” with David Silberman who held senior positions at the CFPB for almost 10 years during the Directorships of Cordray, Mulvaney, and Kraninger. Part 2 is: “The Impact of the Election on the CFPB: Supervision and Enforcement, which featured Alan Kaplinsky's “fireside chat” with former Director Kathy Kraninger during Trump‘s first term in office. Alan Kaplinsky, Senior Counsel and former chair for 25 years of the Consumer Financial Services Group, hosts the discussion.

The importance of Part 3 is underscored by the recent actions taken by President Trump to fire Rohit Chopra as Director of the CFPB and to appoint new Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, and then new Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Director, Russell Vought, as Acting Directors. Messrs, Bessent, and Vought have essentially temporarily stopped all activities of the CFPB for the time being. During our “fireside chat” with General Platkin, we discussed the following topics, among others: 1. What is General Platkin's background, including his stint as Chief Counsel to the New Jersey Governor? 2. Since General Platkin has been New Jersey Attorney General, what are some examples of the consent orders or lawsuits he has initiated related to consumer financial services? 3. Has the New Jersey Attorney General previously collaborated with the CFPB and/or FTC in investigating certain companies or segments of the consumer financial services industry, and is that likely to change? 4. What effect will there be on consumers in New Jersey if President Trump appoints (as he did) an Acting Director of the CFPB whose interpretation and enforcement of federal consumer protection laws differs markedly from Rohit Chopra? 5. What will the New Jersey Attorney General's office do in response to this anticipated shifting CFPB environment? 6. Elon Musk has called for the deletion of the CFPB and Project 2025 has also called for the elimination of the CFPB. If that were to happen, what would the New Jersey Attorney General's office do to fill this anticipated void? 7. We then looked beyond New Jersey to other state attorney general's offices similarly situated to the New Jersey Attorney General office – who will have the need to initiate more cases when resources are limited. We discussed how state Attorney General's (including the New Jersey Attorney General) have networked with each other to investigate and sue companies that are violating consumers' rights in multiple states. We then discussed why it is anticipated that the networking process is likely to increase. 8. The areas of consumer financial protection law and segments of the consumer financial services industry that will be areas of focus for the New Jersey Attorney General during 2025? Our next episode will be the second half of our January 17 webinar in which several of our colleagues will explore in depth why we expect state Attorney General's offices to significantly ramp up their investigations involving and lawsuits filed against banks and other consumer financial services providers.
