Obviously, many of us film fans see movies in theaters througout the year, whether it be at a national chain or at an independent, arthouse theater - or both. Some of us are even hitting film festivals, special screenings, and for the truly unhinged cinephiles, film marathons. For these kind of events to happen though, there have to be some mad geniuses behind the scenes. Those people are film programmers, and they do so much for our the culture of our fandom; from tracking down film the best quality prints available, to figuring out who owns the rights, to actually making the screenings happen. A lot of times their success comes down to the sheer passion they have for these offbeat, awkward, or just downright strange and fucked up motion pictures that makes them want to pass that along to new viewers. In other words, helping new fans Discover the Horror! One of those mad geniuses is Will Morris, who is one of the programmers for the world-famous Music Box Theatre in Chicago. Will has been programming The Music Box of Horrors a 24-hour horror marathon for close to a decade now, as well as programming their yearly January Giallo festival, and much, much more. We invited Will to come on the show to not only explain a little of what he does, but why. Get ready for a fun and wild ride. DBL #6 - NICK LOARINGSome people may remember him as Nick Enslaved if they bought records from his label/distro back in the 90s or saw him doing vocals for the bands Ebola or Boxed In. He now runs The Print Project workshop in Shipley near Bradford where he operates a bunch of printing presses and has made print his business for the past ten years. Nick's artwork is very bold, geometric and colourful. You can buy this work directly or if you are local to the Newcastle area visit Northern Print for a look in person. Here is a cool short video where he explains the methods used to make these prints. His first gig doing vocals in a hardcore band was for Ebola supporting Los Crudos here in Newcastle at the Broken Doll, 1996. This was an important show for me and also for Nick because it was his vocal debut which he mentions later on in the conversation. He also did some sleeve printing nearly 20 years ago now for a record I was involved in making. I remember asking if he could print the sleeve as cheaply as possible and still have it look good. He did both no problem... I'd always been grateful for that. There's lots of information here and it was great to get in depth and hear him talk so enthusiastically about skateboarding, the 90s UK h/c scene and printmaking amongst other things...Follow on Instagram for related pictures @destroybeforelisteninghttps://www.instagram.com/destroybeforelistening/Music:IntroSolanki - 'Bureaucracy'OutroEbola - 'Bring me the head of Mike Brinson'You can listen via any usual podcast platforms like iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify, Deezer or directly here through Simplecast. We return to the world of Paul Naschy with this 1974 Spanish giallo, which received the unfortunate title of The House Of Psychotic Women in the US.
In 1982, Kazuko Fukuda strangled her coworker, changed her name, and went on the run—for fifteen years. She was playing a game of chicken with the law, trying to stay free until the statute of limitations for her crime ran out. To do this, she had to go under the knife. In May, 1988, in Everett, Washington, four-year-old Feather Rahier disappeared while playing outside after dinner. Her frantic cries drew Feather's mother to the dark garage that was home to Richard Matthew Clark. Clark had stolen the child, bound and gagged her, and begun to undress her. Only at the last instant was the little girl saved by her mother's desperate intervention. The next victim wouldn't be so fortunate.Without A TraceOn the night of March 31, 1995, Roxanne Doll, 7, was abducted from the bedroom she shared with her younger sister. It was not until the following day that her mother discovered Roxanne's disappearance. A week later, Roxanne's raped and stabbed body was found. Evidence led investigators to a man the family had trusted as a friend: Richard Clark. No RemorseClark was a petty criminal, jailbird, alcohol and drug abuser who couldn't control his pedophilic and homicidal urges. In April, 1997, after his conviction for aggravated murder, he mocked and derided the dead girl's parents in a shocking courtroom display. Here is the brutal, heartbreaking true story of the crimes and punishment of a monster who preyed on the most vulnerable victims of all--and of the determined prosecutor who swore to bring him to justice. BROKEN DOLL: A Parent's Worst Nightmare Come True-Burl BarerIncludes 16 Pages Of Shocking Photos
Oh my goodness! Naschy tries his hand at the giallo genre and hits one out of the park. In this episode we celebrate and analyze this thriller with more twists and turns than a mountain road. BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL is a stylish but sleazy murder mystery sure to keep you guessing up until the final scene. Naschy places his character Gilles in a bad spot as a man with personal demons of the mind and a nasty past and in a big house surrounded by a group of beautiful sisters. But is it a good place or a dangerous spot? When the cast features four of the most beautiful ladies working in Euro-Trash film in the early 1970s it’s a good place for us at least! Naschy squeezes udders, chops wood, rakes yards and does other things that might be considered sexual metaphors while the color red dances through his life. How many of the siblings will Gilles seduce? How many times will he be threatened with violence? How often will he have to take off his shirt to get his hard work done? Oh my.Troy and I sing the praises of the high quality work involved and lament (repeatedly) the execrable score that attempts to undermine nearly every one of the story's emotional highlights. If a film can be said to be deeply flawed but still brilliant then BLUE EYES OF THE BROKEN DOLL fits that description. As we dissect the film the attentive listener might ask many questions, such as - How many times will I mispronounce Gilles’ name? How often will the Blind Dead movies be mentioned? When will we break down and do a podcast on I HATE MY BODY? What is the connection this film has to both Hitchcock and the Coen Brothers? The answers to some of these are waiting within. You can also contact us at naschycast@gmail.com and subscribe through iTunes. Thanks!

When life happens it can leave you feeling battered, bruised and to be totally frank, feeling broken. This can stem from divorce, betrayal, settling for less, separation, death, overweight, loss of income etc. Note to self: There is a difference between feeling like it and it actually being that way. Life does, in its infinite wisdom creates space so the soul can heal and know and expand and grow. This is what life is all about. The experiences you create and what you do with those experiences. Everything that happens for your life is supporting you in the creation or manifestation of what you say you are wanting. The day when you wake up asking yourself, “WTF has happened to my life” is when your sub conscious desires have come into the awakening of your full conscious mind. Its arrival means it’s time for you to make a conscious choice about your life! Join me Dr. Wendy Dearborne, Choice Expert and Life coach as we explore what this awakening means
