Best selling author, Emmy winning actor, and fierce animal advocate, Carolyn Hennesy returns to discuss her recent comments at the annual meeting of the Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA) about how zoos and aquariums can begin to build better relationships with entertainers and influencers. In many instances, entertainers and those who work behind the camera inside the film and television industry have to be concerned about what supporting modern zoos and aquariums may do to their careers and future employment prospects. Carolyn encourages us to be persistent, inviting, and accommodating to those we wish to recruit into helping educate the world, including our detractors, about the important work of conservation we do. Subscribe to The Locher Room: https://bit.ly/TheLocherRoomEmmy Award-winning actress, author and animal advocate Carolyn Hennesy joined me in The Locher Room to reminisce about her incredible career dazzling audiences with her various daytime, primetime and film roles. On television, she played the deliciously vicious “Penelope Ellis” on ABC's critically acclaimed series Revenge. She also joined the cast for the fifth season of the sleek vampires-meet-world saga, True Blood, and fast became a fan favorite as Rosalyn, the ageless vamp with a Texas twang. Prior to Revenge and True Blood, Hennesy was best known for her memorable work as “Barb” on ABC's Cougar Town and for her (twice) Emmy nominated work as “Diane Miller” on ABC's General Hospital. She has also guest starred on a long list of prime time favorites including Champions, NCIS, The Cool Kids, The Mindy Project, MOM, and Liza on Demand. Kids across America know her as the hilariously haughty Mrs. Chesterfield on Disney Channel's Jessie. On the big screen, Hennesy's credits include Click, Legally Blonde 2, Terminator 3 as well as starring in the horror film, St. Agatha (directed by SAW's Darren Bousman,) the recently released comedy Swing of Things and the soon to be released Relentless for Lifetime…but the biggest recent large screen news is her role in J.J. Abrams Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker as fighter pilot Demine Lithe. Online, she's starred in the independent series' Take it from the Top and These People, Business Doing Pleasure for TBS, Two Sentence Horror Stories for Time/Warner, and The Bay for Amazon Prime in the role of Karen Blackwell...for which she received her Emmy Award and the 2016 Indie Series Award. Most recently, she starred as Gloria in Sean Kanen's series, Studio City for which she received Emmy nominations two consecutive years. Hennesy received her training at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. Her razor sharp comedic timing was honed as a member of The Groundling's Sunday Company and in ACME Theatre's main company. Hennesy has appeared in over a hundred stage productions worldwide, most recently and to great acclaim as Maria Callas in Terrence McNally's Master Class at the Garry Marshall Theatre for which she received the LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award for “Best Actress In A Play” for the entirety of Los Angeles, 2017-18. Among other accolades, the LA Drama Critics Circle has distinguished her with the Natalie Schafer Award and the LA Stage Alliance honored her with her first Ovation for THE FAN MAROO. For the last three years, Hennesy hosted the red carpet reception for the Daytime Emmy Awards for NATAS, FB, and nearly all social media platforms. Hennesy's creative endeavors also include a successful career as a writer; she created the wildly popular “Pandora” (Bloomsbury USA) children's book series and penned the New York Times Bestseller “The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli” (Hyperion). When not on set, Hennesy is privileged to lend her time to a number of causes but she focuses on veteran affairs and particularly animal rescue, preservation, conservation and advocacy as an ambassador for American Humane and her own Los Angeles Zoo. She hosts her advocacy podcast “Animal Magnetism” back episodes of which may be found on YouTube. On January 2nd. 2017, Hennesy crossed something off of her bucket list: she rode on a float (Lucy Pet Foundation) in the Tournament of Roses Parade. Now she simply has to go into space (difficult) and fly over Disneyland as Tinkerbell to set off the fireworks (impossible). She lives in her native Los Angeles with four dogs and one cat, rescues all, and…in what spare time is left…she flies trapeze. Seriously!Original Airdate: 8/18/2021

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth interview with Emmy Winning Actress, Author and Animal Advocate, Carolyn HennesyAbout Harvey's guestA Los Angeles native and self proclaimed studio-brat, Carolyn has been in over 100 theatrical productions spanning the LA, regional and international theatre scenes.   If you ask her nicely she'll recite the list of her plays for you and then she'll recite it again…backwards.  Having trained at American Conservatory Theatre and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, London as well as earning a dramatic scholarship to the California State University at Northridge, she has played such distinguished houses as the Mark Taper Forum, Arizona Theatre Company and the Geary Stage.  She also studied with the Groundlings in the early ‘90s and became a member of the Sunday Company.  From there she moved to the main company at the ACME Comedy Theatre and was a founding member of the all-female improv troupe, “Ovaryaction”.  She is the 2001 recipient of the prestigious Natalie Schafer Award for Outstanding Comedic Actress given by the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle and has been featured as an “Actor's Actor” in the industry publication Backstage-West.   Among other accolades, the LA Stage Alliance has honored her with an Ovation Award, which she hosted in 2011, and in 2010 she added the words “Emmy nominated” (General Hospital) to her list of achievements. Most recently,  Carolyn dazzled as the deliciously vicious “Rosalyn Harris” on Alan Ball's critically acclaimed HBO series TRUE BLOOD.  Hennesy joined the cast for the fifth season of the sleek vampires-meet-world saga and fast became a fan favorite.  As Rosalyn, the ageless vamp with a Texas twang, Hennesy was at the top of her game, tossing one-liners like firecrackers, occasionally enjoying a juicy stake, and gleefully partaking in old-timey interrogation.Prior to TRUE BLOOD, Hennesy is best known for her memorable work as “Barb Coman” on ABC's COUGAR TOWN and for an Emmy nominated run as “Diane Miller” on ABC's GENERAL HOSPITAL.  Kids across America also know her as the hilariously haughty Mrs. Chesterfield on Disney Channel's JESSIE.  On the big screen, Hennesy's credits include CLICK starring Adam Sandler, LEGALLY BLONDE 2 with Reese Witherspoon, and TERMINATOR 3 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.Hennesy's creative endeavors also include a successful career as a writer.  She created the wildly popular “Pandora” (Bloomsbury USA) children's book series as well as penned the New York Times Bestseller “The Secret Life of Damian Spinelli” (Hyperion).  To see more, click on “Books.”When not on set, Hennesy is privileged to lend her time and talent to a number of causes including caring for our wounded warriors and helping those with debilitating physical issues regain their self-esteem, but chief among all causes is the issue of animal rescue. Now, all of that is well and good, but the big news is that Carolyn has become a flying trapeze artist.  No lie.  Just look at her hands.  If you really want to get her talking, just ask her, “Hey Carolyn, how's that layout coming along?!”For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com https://carolynhennesy.com/https://www.facebook.com/pages/Carolyn-Hennesy-Fan-Page/219399211420702https://twitter.com/carolynhennesy#carolynhennesy  #harveybrownstoneinterviews

Jacob Hopkins talks joining the "How To Train Your Dragon" universe, playing a vampire as a child, growing up on TV, and a few times casting told him to pack his bag....when he didn't need to!About Jacob:Jacob's big break came when he landed a role on the fifth season of the popular HBO series True Blood. In the critically acclaimed show, Jacob played Alexander Drew, the youngest (looking) member of the Vampire Authority. Having turned at the age of nine, his character was an impetuous vamp who liked to taunt those around him. Jacob shared the screen with fellow Authority chancellors Christopher Meloni, Peter Mensah, and Carolyn Hennesy as well as lead actors Alexander Skarsgard and his Priest co-star Stephen Moyer. At nineteen, he is making his mark in the voice over world. He voices the lead character, Fushi, an immortal being who takes on the form of deceased nameless boy in the anime series To Your Eternity. The show is based on the Japanese manga series of the same name and is airing now on Crunchyroll. He can also be heard on Netflix's Dragons: Rescue Riders as Axel Finke. The show is a spin-off of the fan favorite movie, How to Train Your Dragon. He also honed his comedic chops as the voice of Gumball Watterson in Cartoon Network's animated hit The Amazing World of Gumball, one of his favorite shows. The BAFTA Award-winning series chronicles the adventures of an amusing twelve-year-old cat with a fair for misadventure, and his extraordinary suburban family, who live in constant conflict with their ordinary town. The second highest-rated cartoon on the network, Gumball has been praised for its “first-rate silliness” and “really clever spin on domestic chaos” by Variety.Jacob is definitely no stranger to the small screen. Following his success on True Blood, he landed a recurring role on The Goldbergs. In this hilarious comedy, Jacob plays Chad Kremp, who is a cool and preppy kid on the surface, but a geek at heart. His character becomes instant friends with Adam Goldberg (Sean Giambrone) as they share a love for all things geeky. The series also stars Jeff Garlin and Wendi McLendon-Covey. Jacob was also seen in the Lifetime Movie Missing at 17, which tells the poignant tale of the struggles a family faces when their teenage daughter goes missing. As the younger brother Andrew, Jacob plays a pivotal role in helping his parents find his missing sister. Other notable television credits include guest roles on How I Met Your Mother as well as About A Boy and Animal Practice.Jacob has also ventured on to the big screen. His first feature film was Priest, where he had a small but memorable role opposite Paul Bettany and Stephen Moyer. Jacob also lent his talents to the short film The Boy Who Cried Fish, where he gave a moving performance as an autistic child. Jacob's performance was praised by fans and critics alike, earning him a "Best Male Performer" award at the Action on Film Festival. In Just a Little Heart Attack he played the very smart son of Elizabeth Banks, who also directed the project. He also starred as the supporting lead in CBS Films Middle School: Worst Years of My Life as Miller. Jacob further showcased his acting prowess in two web series.
