POPULARITY
Send us a textThe mixtapes raised a generation, but the documentary forces a reckoning. We pull back the curtain on Sean Combs' climb from Uptown intern to Bad Boy mogul and walk through the cultural milestones that made the 90s feel invincible—then we test those memories against the stories many never wanted to tell. From Jodeci's leather-and-Timb boots to Mary J's raw soul, from Craig Mack's spark to Biggie's reign, we trace how a glossy East Coast sound took over radio while rivalries with Death Row and the Source Awards lit a fuse the industry couldn't control. The conversation gets real when the music stops and the power starts. We revisit the Quad Studio shooting, the tensions around Pac and Biggie, and the Vegas night that still haunts hip-hop's timeline. Alongside the headlines are the quieter mechanics: contracts that promised fame but not wealth, gatekeeping that rewarded silence, and the uncomfortable calculus of access over ethics. “Making the Band” nostalgia turns into a lesson on control and career stall-outs; claims from collaborators like Little Rod introduce intimate, manipulative receipts that are hard to shake. The documentary doesn't act as judge; it catalogs patterns and asks what we ignore to keep our favorite songs untouched.By the end, we're weighing legal outcomes against moral clarity. Did public campaigns sway the process? How much responsibility lies with the machine around a star—managers, peers, fans—who benefit while looking away? For listeners who lived the era, this is a gut check: can we separate art from artist, or does the backstory change how the music hits? Hit play for a candid, layered walkthrough of The Reckoning, the East–West fault lines, and the costs hiding in fine print. If this era shaped your playlists and your memories, you'll have thoughts—subscribe, share your take, and tell us: what do you believe now that you didn't before?

Any takeaways from this episode?Welcome to the Rom-Com Rescue Holiday Extravaganza! Six holiday rom-coms over the next six weeks!Conscious uncoupling, gingerbread throwdowns, one last “totally normal” family Christmas, inconvenient new crushes… and Pearson Fodé in candy-cane underwear. That's right. We went there. This week on RomCom Rescue, Kira and Dr. Izzy break down Netflix's brand-new 2025 holiday rom-com Merry Little Ex-Mas starring Alicia Silverstone, Oliver Hudson, Jamila Jamil, and Pierson Fode— and let's just say: It is was rough for us.Not magical. Not cozy. Not even Hot Frosty-level cute. But it is full of relationship red flags, questionable choices, unmatched chaos, and enough emotional immaturity to keep two therapists busy until 2028.We cover:
Amy and Kat are both feeling merry this week!! Kat because she just had the staycation of her dreams and she’s already decorated for Christmas (she’s in a season of creating as much joy as possible)! And Amy’s feeling merry because, well, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! However, she had some anxiety pop up around something she thought she’d worked through, so she shares about those feelings as well. Kat reminds her that healing isn’t about being “done” with a feeling…it’s about knowing how to move through it now. When familiar feelings show up again, it doesn’t mean you’re back at the beginning. It’s just a new moment to practice showing up differently…with more awareness, more tools, and more kindness for yourself. Also in this episode: a cozy stovetop simmer recipe (see below!), the move to make out of a second story should there be a fire (random, but helpful), and a thoughtful email from new listener Dave, who shares how burnout shifted his relationship with work and a reminder to actually communicate needs in a relationship…men aren’t mind readers. Smells Like Christmas: A Cozy Simmer Pot Recipe 1 large orange, sliced 3–4 cinnamon sticks 1 cup fresh cranberries 1 tablespoon whole cloves 2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary (or a handful of pine needles if you’re feeling extra festive) Water to fill the pot How To: Combine everything in a medium pot. Fill with water until ingredients are just covered (leave about an inch from the top). Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Reduce to low and let it quietly bubble away (uncovered) as long as you’d like. Keep an eye on it and add more water as needed so it doesn’t dry out. Pro tip…you can reuse the same pot a few times! Just pop it in the fridge overnight and add fresh water before reheating. This little ritual makes your whole house smell like orange, cinnamon, and nostalgia. It’s one of those small, sensory things that makes the holidays feel like the holidays. Get some Feeling Things merch by clicking HERE! Republicans, meanwhile, are up in arms over a last-minute inclusion to the funding package, which would allow senators who allegedly had their phones tapped to sue the federal government for hundreds of thousands of dollars. FOX News Digital Congressional Correspondent Liz Elkind joins the Rundown to unpack the drama on Capitol Hill, and what to look out for as the government gets back to business. Saipan: it's the one word that can, even 23 years later, cause a row and Irish football fans still divide into two camps. When it comes to events in Saipan where the Irish team were acclimatising before heading to Japan for their first game in the 2002 World Cup, everyone has an opinion. You're either Team Roy or Team Mick.A new movie that captures the simmering tension and eventual blow up between Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy and team captain Roy Keane will hit our screens on January 1st. But already Saipan has been seen on the international film festival circuit, garnering glowing reviews.Keane is played by Éanna Hardwicke and McCarthy by Steve Coogan – a challenge given how familiar both men are in the public mind. Does it work? And does it capture the tension and the shock waves that Keane's decision to walk out on the team caused.Irish Times consumer correspondent Conor Pope got a preview and says that going in to the cinema he knew he'd be traumatised by Saipan – and he was.Pope tells In the News why the film will open old wounds for many people and how he left the cinema “feeling shaken and sad and weighed down by what might have been”.Presented by Bernice Harrison. 119 | The Karmic Echo: Why Old Wounds Resurface When You're Ready to Rise | Salarah Kacey Starre Ever set a powerful intention, to call in love, expand your business, or step into your next level, only to find yourself facing delays, obstacles, or the exact opposite of what you asked for? This is what I call the karmic echo: the reverberation of old wounds, patterns, and even past-life contracts that rise up just as you're stepping into something new. Not as punishment, but as preparation. As your soul's way of saying: Are you ready to meet this differently now?In this episode we explore:Why the things you want can feel slow, heavy, or hard to manifest. How karmic echoes show up in money, love, career, and health. The role of subconscious adaptations, nervous system wiring, and soul contracts.Practical steps to move from repeating cycles into completing them.If you've ever felt stuck in déjà vu moments, repeating patterns, or familiar struggles, this conversation will help you see the echo for what it really is: not a block, but a bridgeIf you're in the middle of a karmic echo right now, you don't have to navigate it alone. For powerful tools to support you, I've created two guided meditations on Insight Timer: Cord-Cutting Meditation - to release the energetic ties that keep karmic echoes looping, so you can feel clearer, free, and ready for the next chapter.Timeline Activation Meditation - to connect with your future self, the version of you who has already broken the cycle and is living in full alignment. You can find both by searching Salarah Kacey Starre on Insight Timer, or via this link: https://insighttimer.com/salarahstarreIf you're ready for deeper support - to untangle the loops, heal the roots, and step fully into the version of you who can hold the life you're calling in - you can explore my 1:1 coaching and programs over at www.salarahstarre.com.Thank you as always for your support. Beating yourself up might feel productive, but it's actually keeping you stuck in the same painful patterns. The real work of healing from trauma isn't about fixing all your problems or thinking positive thoughts. It's about developing self-love as a skill—a feeling you can generate in your body that becomes the fuel for different actions. In this episode, I'm sharing why the skill of self-love isn't fluff. Through a specific process of recognizing when you're in a trauma response and bringing love to that moment, you can start to grow around your pain rather than trying to make it disappear. Called to the surface by your subconscious, Who was triggered somehow. Though these old wounds are painful, Resist the urge to push them back down. For this is an opportunity to heal deeply, To transcend the pain, And become more you in the process. So rest now, dear one, Falling gently into your bed. Give yourself the freedom to move around a bit, Until you find that sleeping position that feels so good. And then take a deep breath in, And as you breath out, Melt further into your bed. Deeper, Ready for sleep. PAUSE… Let your body relax, As you find the soothing rhythm of your breathing. Breathing in the fresh air of the night, Breathing out the movement of the day. Breathe in, Breathe out. PAUSE… Let go of all those thoughts, Plans, Tasks, And emotions that linger inside. Now is not their time.
