Disney World Hotel Tour: Coronado Springs This week, we invite you to join us on a captivating tour of Disney's Coronado Springs Resort, a remarkable Moderate level resort located within the enchanting Walt Disney World Resort. We'll be showcasing all the compelling reasons why this resort should be your top choice for your next magical stay.Check out our video tour of the resort hosted by travel host extraordinaire Cam Matthews here . First and foremost, let's explore the captivating theme and aesthetic of Disney's Coronado Springs. This original resort draws inspiration from the alluring ambiance of Spanish colonial Mexico and the American Southwest. As we venture further, you'll discover that the guest rooms are situated in three distinct areas known as Casitas, Ranchos, and Cabanas. The Casitas offer luxurious suites, making Coronado and Gran Destino Tower the only moderate resorts at Walt Disney World with such accommodations. Throughout the common areas and guest rooms, the vibrant presence of the beloved characters from "The Three Caballeros" is skillfully woven into the decor, adding an extra touch of whimsy and charm. Next, we'll delve into the magnificent Gran Destino Tower, which opened its doors in 2019. This stunning 15-story tower takes inspiration from the themes and visual aesthetics of the renowned Disney animation short film, "Destino." Originally a collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali, the film remained unfinished until 2003. The Gran Destino Tower pays homage to this artistic masterpiece, offering guests a truly immersive experience filled with elegance and sophistication. As we satisfy our appetites, we'll explore the delightful dining options available at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort. The main dining venue, Coronado Springs, boasts a variety of culinary experiences, including Rix Sports Bar & Grill, Maya Grill, El Mercado de Coronado, and Cafe Rix. If you're looking for a unique dining experience, we recommend checking out Three Bridges Bar & Grill, Siestas Cantina (a charming poolside bar), and Laguna Bar, a picturesque outdoor lakeside bar. Additionally, the Gran Destino area offers Toledo, an exquisite dining destination specializing in tapas, steak, and seafood. For a more relaxed atmosphere, you can unwind at Dahlia Lounge or indulge in specialty gin drinks and Spanish-inspired appetizers at Barcelona Lounge, which also serves as an espresso bar and quick-service breakfast spot in the mornings. Of course, no trip to Disney's Coronado Springs Resort would be complete without exploring its remarkable recreational facilities. The Dig Site pool complex steals the spotlight, featuring the captivating Lost City of Cibola pool with a thrilling 123-foot waterslide—the longest on Walt Disney World property. Additionally, you'll find the largest hot tub on the property, capable of accommodating up to 22 adults, a kiddie pool, Siestas pool bar, sand volleyball court, the exciting Iguana Arcade, and the fun-filled Dig Site playground. For those seeking a more tranquil experience, the resort offers three serene quiet pools, each located in the distinct "settlement" areas of Coronado Springs. Throughout your stay, immerse yourself in the vibrant Colors of Coronado and admire the intricate Spanish Mosaic Art experiences that add an extra layer of cultural beauty to the resort. Both sections of the resort feature fitness centers to help you maintain your active lifestyle. You'll still find an array of engaging recreational activities to enjoy, including a daily campfire, nightly movies under the stars on the Gran Destino Lawn, invigorating pool parties, thrilling games, and a refreshing jogging trail for those seeking a scenic workout. In this episode I look into when the grand canyon appears in our narrative and how this seems to coincide with the disappearance of the & cities of Cibola. Let's take a look at several maps and a brief look at the current narrative to see what holes and clues we can find! This is the next episode of the inquisitive set I have begun putting out to get to the bottom of what in the sad hell happened to our realm over the last roughly 500 years! so far we have looked at some of the destruction and major geological changes and this is another to add to the list! after we look at the evidence I throw my theory out there as to why all the topography has changed so drastically and its not a neat and easy process so buckle up because we are just getting started! This week I had the pleasure to talk with Mikayla Sehlmeyer. She is a Volcano Vista graduate and a recent graduate of Columbia College in Missouri. She is also the new Cibola High School Cross Country Coach. Mikayla has a unique journey to running. Not only did she start in gymnastics and get started with track with the pole vault, she has tried just about every event. In high school, she ran sprints and ran hurdles. She also did long jump and triple jump, qualifying for state in both and leaving as a triple jump state champion her senior year. We talk about choosing Columbia College, trying multis, and eventually making the transition to distance. I have never seen anyone with official college marks in everything from the 60m to the 10k. It's pretty amazing, in my opinion. We also talk about her coaches and her coaching position at Cibola High School. It was a fun talk and I hope you enjoy our conversation. The rain and cloud cover have been nice to bring the temperatures down, but the humidity still keeps things warm. So stay hydrated, stay cool, be safe, and keep running, New Mexico.

In the ruins of old San Bernardino Hacienda, which lies on Robber's Roost just south of the town of Tombstone, there are reports of still remaining hidden treasure. These reports are substantiated by a discovery in 1967, when a treasure hunter unearthed an iron kettle, buried right next to this site, which turned out to be containing around 20 pounds of gold nuggets! Near the Buckhorn Ranch on US 10, a few miles to the north of Mescal, Cochise County in the Rincon Mountains, there is said to be a cave wherein a sizable cache of gold nuggets and gold dust is buried. In Santa Cruz county, 8 miles to the north of Patagonia, there is an old trail that travels south from the San Xavier del Bac Mission. This trail leads to where Spanish missionaries were said to have hidden a substantial gold treasure on the ledge of a steep hill, buried under tons of rocks. The Lost Treasure of Fort Huachuca, believed to contain over $60 million in hundreds of 50-pound gold bars, is said to be located on the Fort Huachuca Military Reservation, in Huachuca Canyon, somewhere between the cities of Nogales and Bisbee. Legend says that Juan Estrada, a Mexican Bandit, was responsible for hiding this treasure. In 1941, Robert Jones, a man stationed on the base, claims that he fell into the hole and discovered the treasure. He took a few bars, covered the hole, and did not tell anyone about what he found. In 1955, the US government gave him permission to recover the treasure. However, he was unable to find the hole he covered, even with the help of state-of-the-art search and excavation gear. In the area of Cienega Stage Station, an army payroll valued at around $100,000 is said to have been buried between Silver City and Tucson, on the Butterfield State Trail in Pima County. The La Esmeralda Church Treasure is several tons of gold church ornaments and solid gold bars, that is according to legend buried six miles southwest from the old San Xavier del Bac Mission, Santa Cruz County, in a cave somewhere in the Santa Catalina Mountains' south ridges. On Mt. Graham's southwest side, legend has it that about $22 million worth of silver and gold bullion was buried by a Mexican bandit named Bonita. It is reportedly buried somewhere around 30 miles due southwest of the town of Safford in Graham County, in a place now called Meadows of Gold. Meadows of Gold is close to a modest town named Bonita, after the bandit. To the northeast of Willcox in Cochise County, up in the Winchester Mountains, there is supposedly a cache of silver coins and gold dust, said to have been hidden by the Apaches following a successful attack on a wagon train, just out of the stage station at Mountain Springs. In Wild Cat Canyon, around 40 miles due north of the city of Bisbee in Cochise County, in the Chiricahua Mountains, there is said to be a large treasure cached in a cave by the outlaw Black Jack Ketchum. In Skeleton Canyon, in the Davis Mountains, Cochise County, there is cave where it is alleged that $3 million worth of stolen treasure from Mexico, hidden by the American outlaws Billy Grounds and Zwing Hunt. On the Tanner Trail, flanked by the town of Cibola and the Colorado River, in Yuma County, a prospector by the name of Tom Watson hid a bag of gold nuggets in a cave behind a small waterfall. He was not able to find this hiding place as he came back later to retrieve his treasure. In Sycamore Canyon, close to the Verde River and due north of the town of Cottonwood, Yavapai County, there is said to be a very rich gold mine that was discovered by a group of Spaniards sometime in the 1710s. These Spaniards packed their mules with hundreds of pounds of gold, but were eventually slaughtered by Apaches. Only two of the Spaniards survived. The Apaches then concealed the mine entrance, and the two were never able to find it again. In and around Cottonwood, Yavapai County, on State 89A, it is said that several bottles of gold du --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/treasure-revealed/support

Francisco Vazquez de Coronado was a Spanish conquistador who led an expedition from Mexico through the southwestern USA in search of the fabled Cities of Cibola from 1540-42. He had hoped to reach the mythical Seven Cities of Gold located throughout the pueblos of the New Mexico Territory. His ambitious journey marked the first European sightings of the Grand Canyon and the Colorado River. We are now in late May 1539, almost exactly 482 years ago as I write this. Friar Marcos is alone with a bunch of Indios Amigos – literally, friendly Indians who had not been enslaved -- somewhere in Arizona, possibly in the Salt River Valley east of modern Phoenix. He has just learned that his guide and advance man Esteban, has died rather gruesomely along with a bunch of his Indian escorts at the hands of the angry chief of Cibola, the “city” purported to be the gateway to the Seven Cities of Gold. By his own somewhat suspect account, Fray Marcos has a decision to make – does he soldier on to lay eyes on Cibola himself, knowing that if he dies his mission will have been a complete failure, insofar as there will be no European to report on the territory? Or does he head back to Culiacan, on the west coast of Mexico, where Coronado is waiting for him, and base his report on the tales told by Indians, either at Esteban's direction or otherwise? Kenn recaps, Stephanie endures, and Todd promises not to cry (ha ha) in this episode on Cibola Burn, the fourth book in The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey. The panel seems a little confused at the start about whether or how much they enjoy this book, but ultimately the consensus seems positive. Is it positive enough to continue with the series? We might have to wait until part 2 to find out! Support the show on Patreon Join the conversation on Reddit Music: "Adventure Time" and "The Seven Seas" courtesy of https://www.philter.no/

There are places that turn up in literature or in film—mystical and legendary places whose names may be familiar but about which we know little. We nod knowingly at the reference, but are often left wondering about places such as Atlantis, the lost land overwhelmed by the sea, or El Dorado, the fabulous city that vanished somewhere in the South American jungles. Other names are more evocative—Mount Olympus, the Garden of Eden, the mystic Isle of Avalon, and Davy Jones’ Locker. But did such places actually exist and if so, where were they, and what really happened? What are the traditions and legends associated with them? In the fascinating new book, Lost Lands, Forgotten Realms, historian Dr. Bob Curran sets out to find the answers by journeying to the far-flung corners of the world and to the outer reaches of human imagination. In Lost Lands, Forgotten Realms you'll; • Climb the high mountains in search of the mythical Shangri-La • Navigate the deep swamps and jungles in a quest for the Seven Cities of Cibola • Travel to the depths of the dark oceans to look for sunken lands such as Lemuria and Lyonesse • Experience unspeakable danger in a realm rarely visited by men—the subterranean lair of Judaculla • Discover the secrets of Heliopolis, Yggradsil, Hy Brasail, the Kingdom of Prester John, Llyobia, and the Hollow Hills.Psychologist and historian Dr. Bob Curran has travelled the world in the study of mythology and folklore, which he has also extensively written and lectured about. He is the author of Vampires, Encyclopedia of the Undead, Celtic Lore & Legend, and Walking with the Green Man. He lives in Northern Ireland with his wife and family.
Jamison Chas Banks in his film Cibola. Jamison Chas Banks born in Kansas, USA, is a dual citizen of the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe, and the Cherokee Tribe of Oklahoma. "I have been an artist first and foremost since I first started thinking. I am also Native American. I live in this time, not in the past, I cannot make art that seeks to simulate my Native ancestors’ work or designs....I would characterize my work as ‘Attempting to clean an American turkey with a J. Edgar Hoover vacuum cleaner.’ I seek to subvert histories and ‘re-codex’ the American imperial sphere.”-BanksThe work of Jamison Chas Banks incorporates pop culture and indigenous iconography with military and political propaganda. He tackles intense historical tragedy with an urgency and irony that implores the viewer to focus in and think, to look deeper than what was taught, further than what we are told to hold as historical truths. Banks works in all mediums, and seems to use whatever tools necessary to convey his vision, from film to printmaking, from the canvas to massive mural work, there are no limits for this inspiring, activism based indigenous artist. Here is the conversation with Jamison Chas Banks: Subscribe to Art Beat Conversations on iTunes and download this episode.End track featured on this podcast titled 'Fratres for Eight Cellos' by I Fiamminghi & Rudolf Werthen. Red Scare, Blue Venom. Acrylic serigraph on paper. Edition of 60. Jamison Chas Banks, 2014 More about the Artist: Artist Jamison Chas Banks takes on symbols and turns them on their heads. He readily admits, “My art incorporates a multitude of symbols. In the end, everything can be maintained as a symbol. I often advance my own imagined personae into representing some other idea or thing, in that, the personae become symbols.” He goes on to assert that “symbols have continued to define and enrich cultures and traditions.” The Cherokee/Seneca artist exudes a certain optimism when he talks about what he perceives as a time of change: “We stand headstrong into a new arena of symbols and mythos, this is a time of renaissance and renewal. It’s safe to assume that Banks is a part of this “renaissance” and that his work is tinged with a subversive hue. He states plainly, with a hint of sarcasm, “I would characterize my work as ‘Attempting to clean a American turkey with a J. Edgar Hoover vacuum cleaner.’ I seek to subvert histories and ‘re-codex’ the American imperial sphere. Also prevalent in Banks’ work is a military motif that is highly contemporary and relevant--- while acknowledging the tradition and importance of military service that span’s his family’s history. “Most men in my own family, have not only served in the military, but participated during active conflicts,” he explains. Yet, the paradoxical brilliance of his work comes through loud and clear: “patriotic fervor of World War II,” was preceded by harrowing boarding school experiences which literally tore families apart. When asked specifically what the word “tradition” conjures, Banks says without hesitation, “Tradition is a cycle of behavior or belief built up over generational lengths of time. Tradition can be seen as a colonial term, but so can ‘dog’ and ‘cat’ for that matter. I imagine now anything spoken in English can be seen as a colonial term. It’s a really loaded question because, I think, most art can be defined so differently, depending on who’s defining it. In my experience, there is nothing that can be absolute.”-Barbara Ellen Sorensen, Tribal College Journal Vol. 25 No. 1 FallFollow Jamison Chas Banks on his blog.Follow Banks' film work on Vimeo.

Welcome, Cibola APUSH students! This is the introductory episode in a 28 part lecture series on the history of the United States of America. In this episode I explain why I have decided to supplement my classroom lessons with a podcast, how educators have historically justified the study of history, why you as a high school junior need to study history, and how the discipline of history will make you a more attractive prospect for future employers.
Time travel is fun. Want to learn to do it? Follow me. The year is 1608. England buzzes with William Shakespeare. Hamlet, Macbeth, and King Lear are performed to rave reviews while 44 year-old William grieves the death of his mother. A team of 47 translators works on an English translation of the Bible. Not one of them suspects their translation will remain in use 400 years into the future. In 1611 their Bible will be released as the authorized version of King James. The novel by Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote de La Mancha hasn't been translated into English but it's all the rage in Spain. No one suspects that in exactly 8 years – on April 23, 1616 – Cervantes and Shakespeare will die simultaneously at twilight. No one knows each man will forever be remembered as the most celebrated voice in his language. Baltasar Gracian is a 7-year-old boy in Belmonte, Spain. He'll grow up to become a Jesuit scholar, troublemaker and philosopher. His book, The Art of Worldly Wisdom, will sweep Europe in much the same way Benjamin Franklin's Poor Richard's Almanac will sweep another continent 150 years later. In 1992, Baltasar's book will be rediscovered and spend 18 weeks on the bestseller list of a country that didn't exist while he lived. But no one has an inkling of this. Today young Baltasar is a just a 7-year old boy playing in the dust in Spain. It's been exactly 116 years since Christopher Columbus sailed for Queen Isabella and walked the soil of a whole new world. Today that new world is a place where conquistadors search for gold and tell tales of the Seven Cities of Cibola. No one cares about a shipload of English weirdoes and misfits who sailed over the horizon a few months ago to set up a colony in the wilderness. They're probably dead by now anyway. And even if they're not, nothing will ever come of it. I think someone said they decided to call their colony “Jamestown.” In exactly 361 years Neal Armstrong will do that Columbus thing again and a poet named James Dickey will complain, “There's no moon goddess now. But when men believed there was, then the moon was more important, maybe not scientifically, but more important emotionally. It was something a man had a personal relationship to, instead of its simply being a dead stone, a great ruined stone in the sky.” – Self Interviews, p. 67 Are you beginning to see what I mean by Time Travel? It's a delightful way to play. And frankly, you don't play enough. I hope you don't mind me saying. The key to time travel is: 1. Learn the details of a day that is past. Meet the people. Feel the buzz. Be part of their society. Become one of them. 2. From that distant vantage point, what do you imagine about our current day, knowing you will never see it? 3. Now return happily to 2008 and see how things actually turned out. If you want to take an even trippier trip: 1. Imagine yourself 20 years from now. What are your circumstances? 2. Now look back at 2008 and think about what you wish you'd done differently. You'll be surprised how much this “Time Travel” exercise will change your priorities and alter your actions. Free the Beagle. Aroo! Roy H. Williams
