Josh Sigurdson reports on the plan by Google to release millions of genetically modified mosquitoes into California as well as Florida in order to "stop mosquito-borne diseases which absolutely no one is buying. Google's decade old program called the "Debug Initiative" plans to release 32 million Culex mosquitoes into California, targeting West Nile, Dengue, Zika, Chikungunya, St. Louis Encephalitis and Yellow Fever. This is similar to past programs run via Bill Gates with what the government calls "flying syringes" meant to inject people with so-called "antidotes." In places like Africa where similar releases have been done, we've seen massive growths of dangerous illnesses. Absolutely no one trusts this initiative. The mosquitoes will be guided by AI and robotics. Yes, you read that right. Most people are missing that important point. This also seems to be happening at the same time as we see an explosion in Lone Star Ticks which cause people to have anaphylactic meat and dairy allergies which they call Alpha Gal Syndrome. In the 1960s, the US military interestingly weaponized Lone Star Ticks and dropped 270,000 of them into population centers. Since then, government whistleblowers have also come forward claiming they were paid to drop boxes of these ticks from helicopters into populated and wooded areas. With Martha's Vineyard alone seeing a 50% rate of Alpha Gal Syndrome, clearly this is a massive problem. Were these ticks engineered with neurotoxins? It also so happens that Bill Gates has been invested heavily in genetically modified ticks and the release of them under the guise of "stopping illnesses" while also funding the largest scale lab made meat initiatives which just happen to not negatively affect people with Alpha Gal Syndrome. So what's actually going on? From the mosquito release to Lyme Disease, from Lone Star Ticks to nanotech studied by Johns Hopkins, we delve into this extremely concerning issue which is hitting the United States and Canada hard right now.

“A população precisa ajudar.

Send us Fan MailIt's a rare piece of good news. A single-dose dengue vaccine developed in Brazil as part of an international collaboration protected people against at least two strains of the virus for five years or longer, and did so safely. The vaccine was already being tested across Brazil and the findings helped boost confidence in its use. “This is a big deal,” says Dr. Andre Siqueira, Head of the Dengue Global Program at the Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative (DNDI).  Dr. Siqueira, who is also an Infectious Diseases Consultant at Brazil's Instituto Nacional de Infectologia Evandro Chagas, a hospital that is part of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), helped develop the vaccine. He chatted with One World, One Health about the work in 2024. The new vaccine worked almost perfectly to keep people from being hospitalized with severe dengue symptoms, Dr. Siqueira and the team reported in Nature Medicine.  That's a big deal. Dengue can cause terrible symptoms, including severe abdominal pain, internal bleeding, severe muscle aches, and long term fatigue. From January 2025 to January 2026, dengue killed more than 4,000 people. The only other dengue vaccines currently available are a two-dose formula made by Japanese manufacturer Takeda and Sanofi's Dengvaxia, which the company is discontinuing because of a lack of demand. In this episode, Siqueira updates host Maggie Fox about the latest findings on the new vaccine's efficacy and its rollout in Brazil.

We also talk about why Dr. Eidson believes fiction is a powerful way to help readers understand pandemics, climate-driven disease, and public health work; how her adopted Chinese American heroine Maya reflects both her own family and the people she's worked with; and how her teaching at the University at Albany and University of Vermont shaped these stories. Tanvi is an evolutionary biologist who studies how pathogens and microbial communities evolve in response to human ecological, environmental, and cultural changes. Employing a One Health framework, her work integrates genomic/metagenomic datasets derived from animals, contemporary human populations living diverse lifestyles, and ancient individuals recovered using innovative paleogenomics techniques. She have a Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, with a minor in Industrial Microbiology, and a Master's degree in Virology from the University of Pune, India. Her research career began in 2011 with her Masters' research project, where she conducted a case-control association study of genetic polymorphisms in human immune response genes and the outcomes of Dengue virus infection in Indian populations. From 2012 to 2017, she worked on her Ph.D. in Evolutionary Biology under the supervision of Dr. Anne Stone and Dr. Michael Rosenberg at Arizona State University, Tempe, U.S. Her dissertation research involved using cutting-edge degraded DNA and next-generation sequencing methods to elucidate the evolutionary histories of the pathogens causing two major human diseases - leprosy and tuberculosis. From 2017 to 2024, she worked as a Research Assistant Professor with Dr. Cecil M. Lewis Jr., in the Laboratories of Molecular Anthropology and Microbiome Research (LMAMR) at the University of Oklahoma, Norman, U.S. In this role, she co-led numerous projects investigating the evolution of the human microbiome in response to migration, lifeways, and behavior, which included a National Science Foundation-funded project on the oral microbiome. In 2025, she started a new position as a Bioinformatics Scientist working with Dr. Charlotte Avanzi at Colorado State University, where she is studying the transmission dynamics of leprosy in human and animal hosts. ------------------------------ Find the paper discussed in this episode: Honap, T. John Schoen, Senior Clinical Manager of Evidence-Based Medicine and Drug Information in Vizient's Center for Pharmacy Practice Excellence and Vizient's vaccine subject matter expert, joins host Stacy Lauderdale to discuss key updates to the CDC's childhood Immunization schedule and what they mean for practice.   Guest speaker:     John Schoen, PharmD, BCPS   Senior Clinical Manager of Evidence-Based Medicine and Drug Information    Vizient Center for Pharmacy Practice Excellence     Host:   Stacy Lauderdale, PharmD, BCPS   Associate Vice President  Vizient Center for Pharmacy Practice Excellence   Verified Rx Host    00:00 — Introduction Announcer welcomes listeners to Verified Rx, produced by the Vizient Center for Pharmacy Practice Excellence. 00:14 — Episode Overview Host Stacy Lauderdale introduces the topic: updates to the CDC's U.S. Childhood Immunization Schedule, revised January 20, 2026. Goal of the episode: explain what changed, what didn't, and what it means in practice for providers, pharmacists, and families. Guest: John Schoen, Senior Clinical Manager of Evidence-Based Medicine and Drug Information at Vizient and vaccine subject matter expert. 01:16 — What Changed in the CDC Immunization Schedule CDC reorganized the schedule into three recommendation categories. Vaccines were reclassified, not removed. Number of diseases covered under “routine” recommendations decreased from 17 to 11 due to recategorization. 01:50 — Stated Rationale Behind the Changes Rationale provided in executive summary of scientific assessment. The supporting scientific assessment is available online and referenced for transparency (link in resources below). 03:19 — Were Any Vaccines Removed? No vaccines were removed from the CDC schedule. Some vaccines were shifted into different recommendation categories. 03:40 — Category 1: Routine Childhood Vaccinations Vaccines still routinely recommended for all children include: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) Polio Tdap / DTaP Hib (Haemophilus influenzae type B) Pneumococcal HPV Varicella (chickenpox) 04:27 — Category 2: Vaccines for High-Risk Populations Vaccines recommended for children who meet specific high-risk criteria: RSV monoclonal antibodies (mAb) Hepatitis A Hepatitis B Quadrivalent meningococcal Meningococcal group B Dengue 05:19 — What Changed vs. Stayed the Same Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and quadrivalent meningococcal moved from routine to high-risk RSV mAb recommendations are effectively unchanged, as high-risk infants are defined as those born to mothers who did not receive the maternal RSV vaccine. Dengue remains risk-based. Meningococcal group B remains a mix of risk-based and shared clinical decision-making. 06:31 — Category 3: Shared Clinical Decision Making (SCDM) Defined by ACIP as an individualized decision made jointly by provider and parent/guardian. Allows vaccination when risk-based criteria are not met but benefit is still considered. 06:52 — Vaccines Under SCDM Vaccines now include: Influenza COVID-19 Rotavirus Hepatitis A Hepatitis B Quadrivalent meningococcal Meningococcal group B 08:05 — What's New in SCDM Influenza and rotavirus moved from routine to SCDM. Hepatitis A, hepatitis B, and quadrivalent meningococcal also shifted. COVID-19 moved to SCDM in September 2025 for individuals ≥6 months. 08:28 — Insurance Coverage Implications No expected changes in coverage. Vaccines recommended by CDC as of December 31, 2025 remain: Covered without cost-sharing under Affordable Care Act (ACA) plans. Covered by Medicaid, Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Vaccines for Children (VFC) program. 09:14 — Impact on Pharmacy Vaccine Access Pharmacists are considered healthcare providers under CDC SCDM definitions. Authority to administer vaccines primarily determined by state laws. Standing orders, protocols, and collaborative practice agreements may need to be updated, as applicable, to address language related to ‘routine' immunizations for children. 10:27 — Recommendations for Providers & Organizations For providers: Become familiar with schedule changes. Be prepared for patient and parent education. Recognize differences between CDC and other professional guidelines. For organizations: Review EHR documentation and order sets. Consult local state regulations to ensure compliance with vaccine administration practices. Review standing orders/protocols and collaborative practice agreements to determine if revisions are needed. Monitor vaccine utilization and adjust inventory accordingly. 11:24 — Resources & Closing Additional CDC and Vizient resources will be linked in the show notes. Announcer closes with subscription and feedback reminder.
