League defeats are like busses! Hot on the heels of our first Scottish Premiership defeat of the season at Rugby Park, Celtic followed up with an even worse display as they fell 2-0 to Hearts at Celtic Park. It's a game which featured just one of our summer signings (Luis Palma) but not the likes of Gustaf Lagerbielke and Mitchell Frame following the midweek win over Feyenoord. Fret not though, Kwon made the bench! With Tomoki Iwata missing out through injury David Turnbull won this week's midfield tombola, but all will be in the draw once again when next week's game with Livi comes around. Post match Captain Callum McGregor expressed his own concerns regarding the squad as he too called for suitable reinforcements to be drafted in during the January window. Whether we all get our wishes there or not is a different story. Join Tino, James & Paddy as they cover all of the above and much more in this latest episode of The Celtic Exchange Weekly. Celtic are finally back in competitive action, and finished the opening weekend of the season exactly where we finished at the end of last season – at the very top of the Scottish Premiership table! The win against Ross County wasn't perhaps as routine as the scoreline suggests but there were plenty of positive takeaways from Matchday 1. A Man of the Match display from two goal David Turnbull, some Kyogo magic in and out of the penalty box, and a rare right footed strike from Matt O'Riley. We also witnessed what looks like a farewell appearance from Swedish stopper Carl Starfelt and he'll go with everyone's best wishes following two very successful seasons at the club. With 3 weeks of the transfer window remaining there's now some additional work to be done and it remains to be seen what Brendan Rodgers will prioritise between now and September 1st. Quinny and Matthew discuss the recent pre-season friendly against Yokohama, and we delve into the team's performance, highlighting key moments and tactical observations. The match was not without its drama, with Joe Hart's blunder being a notable incident. Despite this, standout performances from Daizen and Reo gave fans something to cheer about. The question remains, however, whether these friendlies can truly provide insights into the team's readiness for the upcoming season. The video also addresses the swirling transfer rumours surrounding the club. The debunked Fererria rumour is put to rest, with Rodgers himself claiming ignorance of the player. Instead, attention is drawn to Stephen McGowan's report about Celtic's interest in Xavier Mbuyamba, a promising young defender from FC Volendam. The video also discusses the club's goalkeeping plan, with the need for a successor to Joe Hart becoming increasingly apparent. The potential clearout of Celtic squad players is also touched upon, with speculation about the futures of David Turnbull and Liel Abada under Rodgers' management. The striker situation is analysed, with Maeda's performance against Yokohama potentially influencing Rodgers' decision to pursue another striker. Finally, the video discusses the recent appointment of Brian Rose, a director of Apple services in London, as a non-executive board member and what this could mean for the club's content delivery and modernisation efforts.

CELTIC announced the signing of Matt O'Riley to bolster the ranks in our creative positions last week and it's not a moment too soon as we contend ourselves with the absence of Tom Rogic and Daizen Maeda on international duty as well as ongoing injury concerns over Kyogo Furuhashi, David Turnbull and now captain Callum McGregor. A physical encounter with Alloa in the Scottish Cup on Saturday night hasn't helped our injury woes with Liel and Abada and Yosuke Ideguchi also picking up knocks on the night, but Celtic will have to dust themselves off very quickly as the challenges of Hearts at Tynecastle (Wednesday) and Dundee Utd at Celtic Park (Saturday) await before we then head into the second derby of the season next midweek. It's a crucial period in the title race and Ange Postecoglou has some big calls to make as he aims to navigate us through these fixtures with maximum points. Fringe players such as Giorgios Giakounakis, Liam Scales and Tony Ralston will be looking to play their part and we can also look forward to seeing new Bhoys Matt O'Riley and Reo Hatate take centre stage as the title race heats up. Tino, Paddy and special guest Hamish of 67 Hail Hail were on the mics this week to cover all of the above and more. Celtic recorded back to back away league wins for the first time since who knows when with a comfortable 2-0 win over Motherwell at Fir Park. Jota was the main man once again and opened the scoring, but ex-Motherwell man David Turnbull stole the headlines with a stunning long range strike to seal the three points. Ange now feels the team is in a more settled place than at any other time in his reign so far and that's been reflected by a couple of important results in recent weeks. After an indifferent start we've now reached the dizzy heights of 4th place in the Premiership table but it's clear to see that this side still have so much more to offer and hopefully we'll see that play out in the coming weeks. It's another week to look forward to at Celtic Park with the visits of Ferencvaros in the Europa League first up, followed by St Johnstone on league duty on Saturday. We're also seeing some of our injured players such as Mikey Johnston return, with suggestions that Juranovic, Julien and Forrest aren't far behind. All in all things seem to be on the up - long may that continue! After an incredible delay of 501 days, fans will finally be allowed to return to Celtic Park for competitive action in this week's Champions League qualifier against FC Midtjylland. It'll be an emotional and exciting night for the 9,000 fans in attendance who'll be roaring the Bhoys on for the first time since a 5-0 victory v St Mirren way back on 7th March 2020. Yes Ange would have liked more time to work with the squad, and yes he would have liked more new signings on board, but don't underestimate how focused and determined he and new captain Callum McGregor will be as they look to steer the team through a difficult opening fixture. New Bhoys Kyogo Furuhashi and Liel Abada haven't made the squad for this one but we look at the impact they can have on the team as Ange strives to add some quality for the challenges that await him this season. This week we also spoke with David Turnbull, Liel Abada and B Team Manager Tommy McIntyre, who each provided some insight into how the season is shaping up from their point of view. It's a busy show with plenty of talking points but everything else aside we're now fully behind Ange and the Bhoys as the competitive action finally gets underway back at Celtic Park! Unless the whole thing's just been a very, very elaborate hoax it now looks like Eddie Howe will be named as our new Head Coach in the coming days (or by 1st June at the absolute latest) and all just a short 13 weeks or so since Neil Lennon left the club! With Bournemouth consigned to the EFL Championship for another season this seems to have signalled the go-ahead for Celtic to now also secure Howe's preferred coaching team as he sets the wheels in motion for the sizeable rebuilding job that lies ahead. Solid recruitment will be high up on the to-do list for the new man, with uncertainty in the air over what current players will be in place for the project, and on what calibre of talent he'll be able to bring in. The Euros await for David Turnbull and a number of his team-mates in the coming weeks and though the young midfielder will play a key role in the revolution it's less obvious who will join him for the new season. With fans also returning to stadiums (stadia?) around the UK we look back at the last game we each experienced at Celtic Park and Mif also gets all glassy eyed with his tales of Seville as we mark 18 years since that day back on 21st of May 2003. #TheCelticExchange Available at @ParadisePods | https://bit.ly/3kAEZuU ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Instagram: @thecelticexchangepodcast Twitter: @CeltExchange Sponsored by TEN10 Podcasts More @ https://linktr.ee/thecelticexchange

In today's episode we continue our series on the early peopling of the Americas, examining who they were, where they came from, and how they adapted to an ever changing climate. Joining us for the episode from Melbourne Australia is Dr David Turnbull, a sociologist of scientific knowledge. From 1979 to 2003 he was part of the team producing courses in the Social Studies of Science at Deakin University, in Melbourne. Up until 2018 he was a senior research fellow at the Victorian Eco-Innovation Lab at the University of Melbourne. Currently he is an Alfred Deakin Institute Fellow. The overarching theme of his research has been the nature of technological and scientific knowledge, and the interaction of the social, cultural, political and historical components in its production, transmission and application in differing traditions and eras. Currently Dr. Turnbull is pursuing two research projects extending this focus on multiplicity, spatiality, narrative, assemblage and movement. At the earliest end of human knowledge production he is working on Narratives of Prehistory and Rock Art – an exploration of the ways stories of human origins and dispersal, modes of knowledge representation and assemblage, indigenous knowledge and archaeological practice are complexly interwoven. The project is based both on textual analysis and fieldwork examining archaeological practice and the interpretation of a range of prehistoric sites and excavations in the USA, South America, Sulawesi, Australia and Europe. Dr. Turnbull has published a number of books, and a long list of scientific papers covering a variety of interconnected topics.
