A new transfer portal target has emerged for the Miami Hurricanes. Syracuse wide receiver Damien Alford has entered the portal after a breakout 2022 season with 20 catches for 429 yards. He averaged 20 yards per catch. The Miami Hurricanes have been looking for a tall transfer wideout and have recently struck out on Dont'e Thornton, who committed to Tennessee, and Andrel Anthony, who landed with Oklahoma. Alford is from Canada but finished his high school career at McArthur in Hollywood, FL.  Host Alex Donno discusses the reasons why Miami should put on a full court press for Alford. Donno also reflects on a few current Miami Hurricanes receivers who have a chance to break out next season. We haven't forgotten about players like Colbie Young, Jacolby George and Isaiah Horton. The Miami Hurricanes might be getting defensive tackle Darrell Jackson back. In a wild turn of events, the Hurricanes have been recruiting Jackson, who recently announced he was leaving The U for the Florida State Seminoles, to spurn FSU in favor of a Miami return. Jackson had departed citing family reasons, but has not completed his enrollment process with Florida State. If Jackson comes back to Miami it would help the Canes fill a major depth need at defensive tackle. They also discuss how for some teams and players, the portal is a blessing that can move players on to better situations that suit their talent level or personal situation.  Next, they discuss the receivers that Penn State offered out of the gates this week. Fitz is zeroing in on local prospects Dont'e Thornton and Dante Cephas. He also lists when those players might visit campus to see if they're a fit. One of them already has a date lined up.  Finally, they examine the players who still need to decide about their futures at Penn State. For example, what is the status of Keyvone Lee after another cryptic social media post? They discuss their impressions of Lee's plans and then run through the list of players who have NFL Draft decisions to make.  Finally, Fitz and Bauer focus on NIL and how things are happening behind the scenes. Bauer explains that just because nothing has happened yet, it doesn't mean that it can't happen this offseason. He discusses what he's heard about the concerns with compensation for players and the strains it could put on the locker room.  Lastly, Fitz gives an update on recruiting heading into the biggest official visit weekend of December. Penn State is hosting several key recruits that they hope to commit before the early signing period at the end of December. The Miami Hurricanes have received a 247 Crystal Ball to flip defensive line recruit Joshua Horton from Fairburn, Georgia. He is a current North Carolina commit. Horton is 6-4, 290 lbs and recorded 105 tackles as a high school senior. There is also growing buzz that Mario Cristobal could reunite with a receiver he recruited to Oregon. Dont'e Thornton, who just finished his second year with the Ducks, has entered the portal. Going into Oregon Football's Spring Game, there were players at every unit that Duck fans were excited to see. In 2021, Oregon Football's offense struggled to consistently push the ball downfield in the passing game with Anthony Brown at quarterback. Over the weekend at their Spring Game at Autzen Stadium, there was not a shortage of explosive plays for Duck fans to enjoy--indicating, Oregon fans hope, that things could be different in that sense this Fall. This was the first look fans have gotten at the Kenny Dillingham-led offense, and the early returns seem to be promising when it comes to improving upon the weaknesses of the previous offensive staff. On this episode of Locked On Pac-12, Spencer McLaughlin looks at the first Spring Game under Dan Lanning for Oregon Football. Oregon Football had its first Spring Game of the Dan Lanning era, featuring a strong showing of over 42,000 fans at Autzen stadium--the first Spring Game fans have seen since 2019. After a season in which the downfield passing game was limited with Anthony Brown at quarterback, Bo Nix completed a 70-yard pass to WR Seven McGee on the first play from scrimmage. In a game where many had questions about how the offense would look, we got insight on how Oregon's offense will operate under new OC Kenny Dillingham. Including, to the delight of some Duck fans, snapping the ball to the QB from under center. Several players impressed with standout performances, most of them on the offensive side of the ball with plenty of explosive plays. Dont'e Thornton showed some traits to former Cal WR DeSean Jackson with two long touchdowns, going over 100 yards receiving on just 3 catches. Seven McGee, who has said he idolized RB/WR De'Anthony Thomas growing up, showed an explosive versatility that was reminiscent of one of Oregon Football's most explosive offensive players. On the defensive side of the ball, Dan Lanning has stressed the improvement that still needs to be made, and that was evident on Saturday. Though some forced turnovers made for some highlight moments, the aforementioned explosive plays came at the defense's expense.
