Scripture For Today:Luke 19:46“It is written,” he said to them, “‘My house will be a house of prayer'; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.'” The Last Will and Testament pt 2Yesterday, we looked at “our inheritance” through our Salvation in Christ. I talked about, in the natural, when some is preparing to die, they usually will leave a “Will.” And the legal name for that document is the “Last Will and Testament of” that person.  It is a legal document and has the full power and effect of enforcing that persons desires that will take place after their death. Hebrews 9:15-17 discuss what a “will” actually is and what it does.  “For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.   In the case of a will, it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it, because a will is in force only when somebody has died; it never takes effect while the one who made it is living.” The testament or “Will” specifies WHO RECEIVES WHAT… And a Will cannot be made if the person who wants to leave it does not have anything worth having a Will for. Amen!  Only someone who is leaving some sort of “legacy” will have a Will.  It will deal with something of value that the person writing Will wants to make sure will be passed along to the designated person. That means, for every Will – there MUST BE a “testator” (or someone who wrote the Will)… Jesus IS the “New Testament.” It is HIS WILL.  He has a GREAT LEGACY to pass on to others. Amen! The most important Legacy of Jesus is the FORGIVENESS of our sins. That is the first and foremost component of the Will of Jesus. Erasing forever the division between us and God. Sin divides and separates us from God. Jesus' legacy is the FOREGIVENESS of the sin that eternally separates us from our Heavenly Father. There is no greater legacy that could ever be left to any human being!   If you do not have this promise from Jesus as YOUR legacy, as YOUR inheritance – when you close your eyes in death, there is still that separation between you and God. And it will be too late to bridge that gap. You will be forever separated from God.  And that would not be a pleasurable inheritance at all. But the Legacy of Jesus has passed on to us the forgiveness of sins and the promise that HE is the mediator between us and God. And God has agreed to forgive the sins of every person who believes on Jesus. Amen.  We will take it up here again tomorrow. Let's Pray! Dave Masiutama, was suspended from his high school approx. 2 years ago. He was allowed to return provided that he repeated the school year. He chose not to as he says his pride got in the way. After a year of not doing much, Dave then started searching military and came across the ATC Military Prep school close to where he lived in West Auckland.  David enrolled and began in May last year, graduating from his first course in November. He has since enrolled in the next levels and is loving the course, both the physical, tutors and study. David is studying Uniformed Services, which will set him up for a career in Police, Customs, Defence, Search and Research, Fire and Emergency etc. He intends to enrol in the Army next year and is excited about his future. Harvey J. Kaye is the Ben & Joyce Rosenberg Professor of Democracy and Justice Studies at the University of Wisconsin Green Bay. He is the author of many books including The American Radical, Are We Good Citizens?; Thomas Paine and the Promise of America; and The Fight For The Four Freedoms: What Made FDR And The Greatest Generation Truly Great. Professor Kaye explains how the history of American democracy is, at its core, a radical project that can rejuvenate and empower the American people to resist and defeat Donald Trump and his authoritarian movement in the present. He also details how the American people can create alliances across the color line in pursuit of shared class interests that can defeat the gangster capitalists and other members of the plutocracy and moneyed classes. In addition, Professor Kaye makes a provocative claim that the Democratic Party must embrace the history of FDR by nominating a true progressive candidate such as Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren if they are to continue to exist as a unified major political party in the 21st century. Professor Kaye also sounds the alarm: the American democratic experiment will likely not survive if Donald Trump is reelected in 2020. Another episode that Twitter gets a lot of the glory for bringing me yet another fantastic guest. I am not one to spend my time in just one arena. I think that goes for pretty much all aspects of my life. True, when I get into something I really get into that something. But, I throw my net pretty wide.For some years now, I have been extremely interested in the things that are not right in front of my face. That meant looking outside of mainstream media and network news. This opened my eyes to a lot of the things that are starting to get a little more light shed on them lately.I shake my head as I type this. How is it possible we are still talking about racism? And as I type that sentence, I feel like it makes me appear ignorant. I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel with this post. I'm not trying to write something to have it go viral. Now, that would be ignorant. But, a big part of me wants to scream out: "HOW IS RACISM STILL SO PREVALENT?!"As a person who happens to be white (I credit that phrase to Amanda Seales), it deeply saddens me that this is still an issue. In many ways, it really doesn't seem like we have gained that much ground since 'the old days'. Over the past couple of years alone, the racist acts that you can find pretty much daily... it's just astonishing. And in my whiteness, my maleness and my not getting any youngerness, it's all downright embarrassing and leaves me incredulous at times. And, yes, I'm aware I just put my own self into a category right there.During my personal search for more reality (good or bad), it has led me to a lot of people I respect in many ways. Benjamin Dixon is someone I stumbled upon via Twitter at some point in 2018. I very quickly recognized his fire for putting the spotlight on important issues. At the time, I wasn't aware of what Benjamin was working on in the background.We recorded this episode a couple of weeks before its initial launch, but on Valentine's Day, The North Star was officially (re)birthed into the world.
