However, the Democratic Party's recent announcement that Vice President Kamala Harris will be their nominee to face Trump in the upcoming election suggests that identity politics may still play a pivotal role in American politics.    Kamala Harris, the daughter of Indian and Jamaican immigrants, has long embraced both sides of her heritage. Yet, her identity has been a focal point of political attacks, with Trump recently attempting to question her Blackness in a room full of Black reporters—a move that backfired, eliciting boos from the audience. As the Democratic Party once again leans on the "I'm With Her" slogan, reminiscent of Hillary Clinton's campaign, the question arises: Will Harris's identity galvanize the African American intelligentsia, particularly in a post-George Floyd America where the chattering class has been notably quiet?   This episode of THIS IS REVOLUTION>podcast will delve into how the African American intelligentsia might react to a potential Kamala Harris presidency. Chattering away about what's to come,  Or what has happened.   See if you can pay attention to it, without judging.  Notice what it has to say.  Honor and recognize each of these thoughts, As you imagine them getting smaller and smaller,  As the night grows darker and darker.  LONG PAUSE… Notice any emotions that arise, Honoring the power that each one of them has on your body and your energy.  Take a moment to feel them all,  And when you're ready, allow your breath to be the wave that carries away the thoughts and emotions.  Feel them washing away as your mind becomes calm and clear.  PAUSE… The worries, tasks and plans become still and silent, As the waves carry them away.  LONG PAUSE… Come into your breath,  Feeling it flow in and out of you naturally.  Bring your focus to each inhale and each exhale, Breathing in a little deeper with each breath in, And breathing out a little longer with each breath out.  PAUSE… Feel the sensations in your body,  The warmth, heaviness, and the gentle tingles of sleep.  Soften your muscles from head to toes, Letting go of any tightness or discomfort, And sinking into relaxation a little bit deeper with each exhale.  LONG PAUSE… Let each breath out release the remaining thoughts,  Worries, stresses and plans, As your mind becomes open,  And still.  PAUSE… Let your mind completely surrender, And be in this present moment. There is only peace, There is only the quiet of your soul. PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine a glowing sphere of calm and harmony surrounding you. It protects you,  Keeping the stillness in, And keeping the noise out.  Nothing can disturb you here, Within the tranquility of this sphere. LONG PAUSE… If thoughts or emotions arise,  Let the waves of your exhale carry them out of you,  And watch as they exit the sphere and disappear into the night.  PAUSE… Over and over again,  You see the electric noise of your thoughts.  Breathe in and gather them up, Imagining the air cools them down,  And your exhale releases them out of you. But, in order to hear the voice of God, one has to have silence in one's soul and to keep silence; not a gloomy silence, but an interior silence; that is to say, recollection in god. One can speak a great deal without breaking silence and, on the contrary, one can speak little and be constantly breaking silence. Oh, what irreparable damage is done by the breach (56) of silence! We cause a lot of harm to our neighbor, but even more to our own selves.   In my opinion, and according to my experience, the rule concerning silence should stand in the very first place. God does not give Himself to a chattering soul which, like a drone in a beehive, buzzes around but gathers no honey. A talkative soul is empty inside. It lacks both the essential virtues and intimacy with God. A deeper interior life, one of gentle peace and of that silence where the Lord dwells, is quite out of the question. A soul that has never tasted the sweetness of inner silence is a restless spirit which disturbs the silence of others. I have seen many souls in the depths of hell for not having kept their silence; they told me so themselves when I asked them what was the cause of their undoing. These were souls of religious. My God, what an agony it is to think that not only might they have been in heaven, but they might even have become saints! O Jesus, have mercy!

Bamboo is a type of grass that grows into big clusters of long, straight stalks. Those stalks are super strong, and are useful for making lots of things, from instruments to gardening tools, to building materials. And when a breeze blows through a bunch of bamboo, it makes a really cool chattering, rattling sound. How does it do that? And why? Blue, yellow and red streaks of light, Chattering, Singing, Dancing.  PAUSE… The noise of the day hovers,  Wanting to stay.  PAUSE… So breathe in deeply, And watch as it interrupts the movement, And begins to dissolve the thoughts.  PAUSE… Breathe deeply again,  Shifting your focus onto your breath, Onto the sweet hums of air coming in, And coming out of your lungs.  PAUSE… Breathe deeply once more,  And notice the lightness you feel, As little by little, The energy of the day dims, And dissolves.   LONG PAUSE… Sink deeper now,  Into your welcoming bed.  Let it embrace you, And carry you into the night. Safe, Light,  And free.  PAUSE… Release them now,  Any plans,  Or thoughts, Or emotions, That remain from the day, That want to hold you here, And keep you from dreamland.  Release them… And surrender your body, And your mind, To the nurturing embrace of the night. LONG PAUSE… Each grain of the day's energy, That is released, That evaporates, Lightens you, And opens you. You're raw in this moment, One with the healing night. Let her replenish you, And renew you.  LONG PAUSE… Breathe and relax, Deeper and deeper in your bed.  Breathe and release, All the energy of the day.  Namaste, Beautiful

Chattering away about what's to come,  Or what has happened.   See if you can pay attention to it, without judging.  Notice what it has to say.  Honor and recognize each of these thoughts, As you imagine them getting smaller and smaller,  As the night grows darker and darker.  LONG PAUSE… Notice any emotions that arise, Honoring the power that each one of them has on your body and your energy.  Take a moment to feel them all,  And when you're ready, allow your breath to be the wave that carries away the thoughts and emotions.  Feel them washing away as your mind becomes calm and clear.  PAUSE… The worries, tasks and plans become still and silent, As the waves carry them away.  LONG PAUSE… Come into your breath,  Feeling it flow in and out of you naturally.  Bring your focus to each inhale and each exhale, Breathing in a little deeper with each breath in, And breathing out a little longer with each breath out.  PAUSE… Feel the sensations in your body,  The warmth, heaviness, and the gentle tingles of sleep.  Soften your muscles from head to toes, Letting go of any tightness or discomfort, And sinking into relaxation a little bit deeper with each exhale.  LONG PAUSE… Let each breath out release the remaining thoughts,  Worries, stresses and plans, As your mind becomes open,  And still.  PAUSE… Let your mind completely surrender, And be in this present moment. There is only peace, There is only the quiet of your soul. PAUSE… Now see if you can imagine a glowing sphere of calm and harmony surrounding you. It protects you,  Keeping the stillness in, And keeping the noise out.  Nothing can disturb you here, Within the tranquility of this sphere. LONG PAUSE… If thoughts or emotions arise,  Let the waves of your exhale carry them out of you,  And watch as they exit the sphere and disappear into the night.  PAUSE… Over and over again,  You see the electric noise of your thoughts.  Breathe in and gather them up, Imagining the air cools them down,  And your exhale releases them out of you. PAUSE… Your mind is soft and open.  Your mind is clear and calm.  LONG PAUSE… Sink deeper into relaxation,  Letting each breath pull you deeper into the peaceful ocean of the night.  PAUSE… Here the dark space of your mind awaits, And the dances of your dreams begin.  Slowly brushing their colors through your open mind. You are safe here.  You are loved here.   There is only calm. PAUSE… With each inhale, the vastness of your inner world opens. Hello from Juilliard! This week, our friend Vinson Cunningham, award-winning critic at The New Yorker, joins Tammy and Jay to discuss 2022's wokest(?) film, “Tár.” (Spoiler alert!) [1:00] Before we get into it, we address Kyrie Irving's request for a trade from the Brooklyn Nets… and what makes him so annoying. (We recorded before Irving's move to the Dallas Mavericks was announced.) Plus: What does his situation say about workers' rights, in the context of highly-compensated NBA players? [12:50] In our main segment: “Tár,” the dark portrait of a high-powered orchestra conductor's fall from grace, starring Cate Blanchett. How does the film see the dangers of artistic personas (with a #MeToo plotline reminiscent of James Levine's abuses), “cancel culture” (per Richard Brody's review), and labor relations?
