The definition of firebreak is “an obstacle to the spread of fire, such as a strip of open space in a forest.” Much like firebreaks help subdue raging forest fires, firebreaks on the calendar help curb what could become insanity. They become an obstacle to the craziness that could easily consume. You might need one during this busy season. Read the post If you're in ministry, you're most likely working with teams. Pastors work with ministry staff, leadership teams, church councils, boards, deacons, and missions. Student and Kid's Ministry Leaders work with volunteers, parents, and students. Worship leaders work with band members, vocalists, tech ministry, and potentially other teams. Whether your teams are short-term or have been serving together for years, it might be good to remind yourself of the following five commitments and share them with your teams. Consider this list as a team member as well as a team leader: 1) Commit to giving 100% 2) Commit to getting better 3) Commit to staying positive. 4) Commit to the team's mission. 5) Commit to each other. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/timprice/support
Don't give yourself an out... don't expect failure. Confidently talk about your plans as if you believe they could happen! Use these substitutions: “When” instead of “If” “I will” instead of “I might” or “I'll try” “I am” instead of “I hope to” “I have” instead of “I'm trying to” READ POST --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/timprice/support

Very honored to have Dr. Sandra Richter on the podcast! Here are a few of the topics in this interview: Christians and a Biblical view of the environment Liminal Space - not there anymore, but not quite yet to the place we're going Epic of Eden - Deborah - newest study / book Tribal Families - significance of God the Father, brothers and sisters in the kingdom Kingdom Citizen surfaced as an overall theme in this interview. Quotes: “You can't take the Bible like a vitamin in the morning. You have to study and work with it. “The character of God is just as revealed in the book of Deuteronomy as in the New Testament.” “For American Christians, the goal is too often, ‘how do I make myself comfortable?' and that just isn't going to have power.” “Is it possible that we are so ingrained in politics that we are missing the voice of God?” “If you're serious about being a kingdom citizen, it's high time to join a small group or Sunday school class to get started in revival.” “Small groups, dedicated prayer, and getting serious about holy living are three triggers for the start to revival. The volunteer nature of local church ministry teams can be challenging on many levels. But people committed to you and the church want the ministry to be effective. Once they truly support you as the leader, they will invest a lot to make the mission happen. Most teamwork is centered around relationships, not institutional titles or structures. Once you connect with the best people for the roles in your ministry, you want to give them a great experience of being a part of the ministry with you. Getting your team in place and keeping them engaged in the mission and ministry should be a priority for senior leaders in the church and the church staff in their respective ministry areas. I recently read a book by twin sisters, Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski, called Burnout. The tagline is intriguing: The Secret To Unlocking The Stress Cycle. Everyone has both stress and stressors. Those won't ever go away as long as we are alive. What is important is not what comes at us, but how we deal with these stresses. According to the authors, we want to complete the stress cycle. There's no reason to have unneeded stress (and all the physiological changes it brings) for any longer than necessary. To break free, you need to "close the stress cycle." Here are some ways to complete your stress cycle: 1. Talk about it 2. Engage in Physical Activity 3. Make a Plan 4. Remember the Future 5.
