Clayton and James discuss the conclusion of Groups C and D at The Euros and it's job done for England, Group Winners and on to the so-called easier side of the draw. But once again the performance and result disappointed. There's discussion on the good and the bad from The Three Lions latest showing, if Denmark can trouble Germany on Saturday, how France performed against Poland which means a challenging path to the trophy, and dark horses Austria impressed again with a 3-2 victory against The Netherlands in Berlin. Plus, is it now The Netherlands on Sunday for England? James details the permutations for the third place finishers and there's the latest for Euro Fantasy including another Lukaku v Ronaldo captaincy debate for those who have missed with the armband so far. Clayton joins James to discuss the latest for Euro Fantasy and last night's conclusion to Group B as Spain's second string team beat Albania and Croatia are nearly out after Italy scored a 98th minute equaliser which means a possible end to Luka Modric's International career. And in the second half of the Podcast there's discussion on England and the intel suggests it will be one change with Connor Gallagher replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold. There's reaction to the news, what Clayton and James would do, a look ahead, knowing that irrespective of the result tonight, England are through to the last 16, but how important is it that they win the Group? Attacking The Championship

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 25, 2024 43:50

Today we take a look at teams from the 2024 European Championships Groups C and D. The earlier kick offs involve the group D teams so we'll start there. France v Poland - France have been less impressive than we were expecting, however, this has to be put into context as we've seen an Austria team who have played some very good high tempo football, and the Dutch were unlucky not to snatch a win. Will Mbappe return for this one? That will surely give them even more attacking threat. It's worrying for other teams that they've not hit their full stride yet...... the best teams usually hit their stride in the knockout stages.... and France have shown they know how to survive and advance in the past. Poland have been underwhelming, but again, they've played against some very good opposition, and have never been totally outplayed. We wonder how they would have faired in an easier (on paper) group like Group A or Group C. Poland will always be a tricky opponent, and even though their tournament will likely end after this game they never make it easy. Netherlands v Austria - We think this has the potential to be a cracking match up.... if both teams feel the reward is greater than the risk. Both teams know that 4 points assures them of qualification into the knockout stages so will they go all out for the win, or will the Dutch be happy with a runners up spot? And we imagine the Austrians would be delighted to collect 4 points from a group containing these three high level opponents. If the Austrians continue with their fierce high pressing style then we should expect an exciting match..... if we see them sit back early then perhaps it'd be a good idea to change the channel. The Dutch have quality in their side, but do they have that steel needed to perform under high level pressure? They certainly performed well against a good French side and have the technical ability to beat a strong Austrian press..... but how will they respond if they concede the first goal? Next we look at Group C.Denmark v Serbia - I have a soft spot for Denmark as I (Tom) have family there, and I don't ever remember a Danish team that wasn't at the very least willing to work hard for each other. They were by far the better team against a very passive England, and will be looking for that level of performance against a tough uncompromising Serbia team that ranks surprisingly high in the attacking metrics for teams after two games. I'm hoping for a Danish win, but with Mitrovic and Jovic up front Serbia are more than capable of getting a win themselves. All to play for. England v Slovenia - Englsnd rank 23rd out of 24 teams for Expected Goals (Xg) after two games. Their press is the slowest and least intense of all team in the tournament so far. Give good players time and space and they will make you pay. England are strongest in attack yet they are ranked 1st in long balls and playing a direct style of play....... a style which i can almost guarantee none of the starting XI play on a regular basis for their club teams. We're all confused, but that could all change very easily if the selected team is given more balance and the players given the creative freedom to be the attacking threat we know they can be. With qualification assured will a cautious Gareth Southgate allow that to happen? Slovenia on the other hand have nothing to lose and everything to gain....

There's a lot of love for Slovenia forward Benjamin Sesko, who Tomás says will be in the shop window this summer.Kylian Mbappé heads up France's stars, but they could be pushed by the Netherlands in Group D — if Ronald Koeman's defensively excellent side can find someone to score the goals. Poland have no problem with that — as long as Robert Lewandowski is playing. Meanwhile, Alec lets us in on an unusual motivational present from Austria coach Ralf Rangnick to his players.GROUP C: 1:20

Hello Rank Squad! It's time to get stuck into this summer's international football, so here's the second of our series of Euro 2024 Preview Shows! We start with Group C, which include England's Three Lions who got to the final of the last tournament, a pessimistic Serbia looking for a bright end to a talented core, an ageing Denmark side who have opted for experience over change, and underdogs Slovenia, boasting talent at both ends. Then it's onwards in Part Two to discuss tournament favourites France, a Netherlands side that should probably be better than they are right now, dark horses Austria under Ralf Rangnick's distinct style, and a Poland team who squeaked through to the tournament in the playoffs. We talk each team's chances of progression and outright victory, as well as the players upon which their dreams will rise and fall, and the managers trying to guide their nations to glory. If you haven't already, go back and listen to yesterday's episode discussing Groups A & B; and tomorrow we'll round off this series with the lowdown on Groups E and F. It's Ranks!  And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

Euro 2020 was opened by Andrea Bocelli singing Nessun Dorma, in front of an Italian cast that included Roberto Mancini, Attillio Lombardo, and Gianluca Vialli, all dressed quite magnificently, at one of the Mecca's of football, The Stadio Olimpico.  We take a look back at the last seven days of action, reviewing the matches group by group.  In Part One, we start with Groups A and B. We have a look at Ryan's beautiful Italian boys, and the impressive Wales victory against Turkey. In Group B, we discuss the difficult scenes in Denmark, and how they made us feel, whilst casting our eye over the impressive Belgians.  Part Two we're onto Groups C and D. First of all it's Group C, the party group of the tournament, as we reminisce about Ukraine and Netherlands. In Group D we talk England, Scotland and the big match at Wembley on Friday.  Finally, in Part Three, are Poland s**t? How beautiful is Slovakia's kit? And will Sweden ever attack? We conclude by trying to work out what's more terrifying Kylian Mbappe, or 65k football hungry Hungarians.  If you want to get in touch with us, then you can find us on Twitter, our handle is @marking_man and don't forget to use the hashtag, #WheresTheTalkingLads

For Group C, they discuss whether EDG’s loss to INTZ revealed some flaws to their strategy, how much credit we should be giving AHQ for their 2-1 start, how H2k has failed to learn how to close games with their jitters on the Worlds stage, and whether INTZ still has a win left in them. For Group D, they analyze TSM’s likelihood of emerging as the top team in a very talented group, how Royal Never Give Up’s shift in playstyle has made them more dangerous, if Samsung’s organizational strengths are enough to push them through to the Quarterfinals, and whether Splyce could still play spoiler to any of these teams. Improvement of the quality of life in Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetic patients with severe late complications is one of the main goals of pancreas and/or kidney grafting. To assess the influences of these treatment modalities on the different aspects of the quality of life a cross-sectional study in 157 patients was conducted. They were categorized into patients pre-transplant without dialysis (n=29; Group A), pre-transplant under dialysis (n=44; Group B), post-transplant with pancreas and kidney functioning (n=31; Group C), post-transplant with functioning kidney, but insulin therapy (n=29; Group D), post-transplant under dialysis and insulin therapy again (n=15; Group E) and patients after single pancreas transplantation and rejection, with good renal function, but insulin therapy (n=9; Group F). All patients answered a mailed, self-administered questionnaire (217 questions) consisting of a broad spectrum of rehabilitation criteria. The results indicate a better quality of life in Groups C and D as compared to the other groups. In general the scores are highest in C, but without any significant difference to D. Impressive significant differences between C or D and the other groups were found especially in their satisfaction with physical capacity, leisure-time activities or the overall quality of life. The satisfaction with the latter is highest in C (mean±SEM: 4.0±0.2 on a 1 to 5-rating scale; significantly different from A: 3.1±0.1, B: 2.7±0.2 and E: 2.6±0.3; p
