With the Vegas Golden Knights inking Noah Hanifin to a long-term contract extension on Thursday, they made a big step in securing what is already a beast mode blue line of bruising bad boys - but are they big and bad enough to lock down the final Western Conference playoff spot and make another deep run at the Stanley Cup? With teams like the St. Louis Blues still with a very realistic shot at winning out and taking the spot, only time will tell over the coming days as the season winds to a close. We dive into the Blues a little deeper and give some credit to the two biggest reasons this club is still alive in the western race: Jordan Binnington and Robert Thomas, both of whom are having excellent years while proving they both still carry a ton of fantasy hockey value heading into next season. Thanks for making Locked On Fantasy Hockey your 1st listen, every day. We are free and available on all platforms and make sure to subscribe and follow us for the latest episodes every day!
Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
Now that the Golden Knights have locked in Noah Hanifin's new contract extension for eight years at $7.35 AAV, how much would Jonathan Marchessault command on the open market? Marchessault is in the final year of his contract and has 67 points including 41 goals. You have to believe his minimum contract would be in the vicinity of $8 million a year. Marchessault is 33 years old. We preview this weekend's games against the Wild Friday and the Avs on Sunday. And, it's WTF - What The Friday time again.
TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun joined OverDrive to discuss Auston Matthews and Connor McDavid's impressive chase for records, Noah Hanifin's extensions with the Golden Knights, the Coyotes' possible relocation to Salt Lake City, the likelihood of the team remaining in Arizona and more.

Locked On Golden Knights - Daily Podcast On the Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights were luck to salvage a point in Nashville Tuesday night. They had a 4-1 lead heading into the third period, but the red-hot Predators tied it a 4-4 and won it in overtime. VGK has now allowed 36 third period goals since Feb 1. They keep collapsing in the final period. Roman Josi scored the overtime winner for the Preds, who have the streak alive with points in 18 consecutive games. Barbeshev, Howden, Theodore and Karlsson scored for VGK in the loss. VGK was in the back end of the back-to-back. What talk about what led to the collapse Wednesday. And, we discuss who fans would sign Marchessault or Hanifin to an extension.
The Trade Deadline was quiet for the Detroit Red Wings, but their last 3 games haven't been...and not for good reason. Tune in as we open by discussing Steve Yzerman's one trade (Klim Kostin to San Jose) at the deadline, his thoughts on the Grand Rapids Griffins (like Berggren, who was called up, or Edvinsson, Kasper, Mazur, & others) and how they affected his decision to stand pat, on our analysis on whether he made the right decision & what's to come this offseason (4:10). Next, Detroit's 3 losses to Colorado, Arizona, and Vegas: how Lalonde's squad did without Dylan Larkin, needing Kane, DeBrincat, Raymond, and Seider to take over, Lyon and Reimer struggling, Walman benched, Rasmussen hurt, and the impact of the losses on Detroit's playoff push (17:20). After that, a look on the standings and schedule ahead to see if Hockeytown still has a chance at a playoff appearance (37:00). We then circle back and discuss the rest of the NHL Trade Deadline, including the Golden Knights acquiring Hanifin, Hertl, and others, San Jose's baffling trade, Carolina getting Guentzel, Toronto not doing much, & lots more (46:15) before we take your questions and comments during our Overtime segment (1:06:20) - enjoy! It's almost Trade Deadline time, which means it's time for us to do the impossible: discuss what Steve Yzerman might do. Tune in as we open with Detroit Red Wings news, the unfortunate development of Dylan Larkin's injury, what it mean's for Hockeytown's playoff push, Veleno stepping in with DeBrincat and Kane, Kasper or other Griffins not coming up, how Raymond & others have to step up, & more on Lalonde's squad (3:55). Next, we analyze the flurry of trades that have already taken place in the NHL, including the movement of players WHILE we recorded: Hanifin, Byram, Middelstadt, Walker, Henrique, Tarasenko, Mantha, & others. Also, how the Flyers selling could help the Red Wings (15:15). After that, we discuss Detroit's needs at the deadline, and whether Yzerman will go for help on offense (Guentzel? Buchnevich? Rust?), defense (Chychrun?), or goalie (Markstrom?), or some other unforeseen move. We also discuss offloading Holl or other defensive contracts, & what we're hearing through the rumor mill (31:35).
