Loaded Radio Podcast: Greg Burgess of Allegaeon Discusses 'The Ossuary Lens' & Warfield Talks Thrash Metal TL;DR On this episode of the Loaded Radio Podcast, Scott Penfold sits down with Greg Burgess of Allegaeon to discuss the band's latest album, “The Ossuary Lens”, which was released on April 4 via Metal Blade Records. This marks the band's first new music featuring original vocalist Ezra Haynes since his departure in 2015. Also featured is a conversation with German thrash metal trio Warfield, who recently released their new album, “With The Old Breed” via Napalm Records. Allegaeon Returns with 'The Ossuary Lens' Technical death metal powerhouse Allegaeon has unleashed their latest full-length album, “The Ossuary Lens,” released on April 4 via Metal Blade Records. This album marks a significant moment for the band, as it is their first release with original vocalist Ezra Haynes since his 2015 departure following the “Elements Of The Infinite” album. The return of Haynes brings back Allegaeon's brutal and technically dazzling sound, which fans have been eagerly awaiting. The band's latest single, “Driftwood,” serves as a powerful introduction to the new record, with its unique blend of melodic, technical death metal — a sound Haynes describes as “melotech.” “We're just so happy to finally release new music,” said Greg Burgess. “We're working on a full album's worth of material, but I feel like it's gonna drop kind of in chunks and then hopefully the rest of it all at once kind of thing.” Recording once again with producer Dave Otero at Flatline Audio studio in Denver, Allegaeon continues their 17-year relationship with the producer. “Dave always provides a comfortable working environment, amazing ideas, and a career-spanning understanding of what has made Allegaeon, Allegaeon,” added Burgess. The album's overarching theme focuses on various perspectives of death, with each track exploring a unique viewpoint. Haynes explained, “Each song essentially is a different topic, however there is always a different perspective of death tied to each subject.” Allegaeon's Latest Album - 'The Ossuary Lens' Track Listing: 01. Refraction 02. Chaos Theory 03. Driftwood 04. Dies Irae 05. The Swarm 06. Carried By Delusion 07. Dark Matter Dynamics 08. Imperial 09. Wake Circling Above 10. Scythe Warfield - German Thrash Metal Titans Alongside the conversation with Greg Burgess, the Loaded Radio Podcast also features an interview with German thrash metal band Warfield. Their latest album, “With The Old Breed,” was released via Napalm Records and continues their tradition of relentless thrash metal inspired by bands like Slayer, Sodom, Kreator, and the Bay Area Thrash scene. Warfield, consisting of Johannes Clemens (Vocals & Bass), Matthias Clemens (Guitar), and Dominik Marx (Drums), is known for their aggressive approach to social and political themes, which they express through their brutal and fast-paced sound. Their most recent album follows their 2018 debut, “Wrecking Command,” which was released via Metal on Met

Interview by Kris PetersFans all over the world worship DESTRUCTION as one of the biggest names in thrash metal with a 40+ year career. As part of the legendary Teutonic 4 alongside German thrash icons Sodom, Tankard and Kreator, DESTRUCTION have forged a legacy that will cement their place in metal history long after many of the bands of today have flown the coop. One of the most undisputedly important, influential and genre-defying bands in thrash metal, Destruction refuse to rest on their reputation or laurels, attacking each new album cycle with renewed vigour and dedication to their craft. Such is their influence, Destruction is one of the few bands in the world who could simply rehash each new album in the sonic image of its predecessor but despite the obvious appeal of thrash metal remaining within the confines of its own boundaries, Destruction continue to expand on their musical output while allowing the DNA that is their music to run free in their veins.Speaking of album cycles, Destruction have just unleashed their 16th beast, a raging slab of metal titled Birth Of Malice. On Birth Of Malice, scene-legend and original member Schmier once again combines his dual vocal/bass attack with crashing riffs from battleaxe masters Martin Furia and Damir Eskić, while Randy Black blasts pummelling drums to new heights. As witnessed on their previous thrash-fest Diabolical (2022), DESTRUCTION return with their uniquely raw and brutal sound, delivering merciless songs with a touch more variety and groove this time. All twelve songs from the butcher's hit with a direct, clean sound – resulting in addictive metal anthems for a new generation of thrashers.HEAVY had the honour of spending some time with founding member Schmier to find out more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

**Kapitel** 00:00 Einleitung 03:16 Monetarisierung 05:21 Was ist ein Gastspielvertrag 07:13 Getränkepodcast 16:32 Bandshirts der Woche 24:13 Kommentare kommentiert 34:27 Hauptthema Unsere Bands Adrian singt bei Blakylle: https://www.blakylle.de/ Andi spielt Bass bei Anheim: https://www.facebook.com/Anheimband/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ More Metal to find at http://totgehoert.com ...on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/totgehoert ...on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Totgehoert ...on X (Twitter): https://twitter.com/totgehoert?lang=de ...on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/totgehoert/

Metal Debate Album Review - The Madness Of Dr Ludwig Von Brainmatter (Dead Alive)

The Great Metal Debate Podcast

Welcome back metalheads to a brand new episode of The Great Metal Debate podcast. Its Xander back with a new album review. Today I will be talking about the Nashville based thrash metal band called Dead Alive and this is their sophomore record titled The Madness of Dr. Ludvig Von Brainmatter. The intro track sets the black and white monster movie vibe. That sort of retro feel is most likely what they were going for. That mad scientist and Frankenstein type of classic horror. This of course leads us into our first track "Exhumed" I love how the vocals for this song are a screeching whisper style. Halfway through the song we get a chug guitar riff that will definitely cause involuntary head banging. The next track "Re-Agent", its accompanied by a very well made music video so you should go give it a watch if you haven't already. The pacing of the music in this one has a slower tune but that does not subtract quality at all. If you want a fast thrash metal track, look no further than "Flip The Switch". The bass line played by Dedmen Walken is groovy and it perfectly eases you into this rager of a song. While I was listening to this album in my car the other day I was shouting along to the course. The words "Flip The Switch" will not only get stuck in your head but the non-course parts of the song will remind you a lot of old school Overkill. After that memorable track we have my personal favorite song on this album "Volt". I like this one a lot because it leans heavily into the death trash subgenre. It is without a doubt the fastest song on the record. Deadbeat did a fantastic job pounding away on drums for not just this song but nearly every song on this album. In fact, his abilities really shine on "No Signs of Life" as well. Once again I'm impressed by his drumming skills. "Hollow Man" ... Oh you know what? I actually almost bought that movie the other day from a used DVD store. I'm kicking myself for not but maybe I'll swing by later and dammit, I'm getting off the subject again. Yes, this next song has the same title of that old 2000 flick but I'm unsure if the lyrics have anything to do with the film. The lyrics aren't provided on metal-archives at this time. One song that I think would be awesome played live is "Fear ... Conditioned". The rhythm of it will get people's heads nodding for sure! The song "Gone Mad" surely doesn't disappoint either but after that one, we get the longest song on The Madness of Dr. Ludvig Von Brainmatter titled "From Beyond". The runtime clocks in at just over six and a half minutes. Definitely lengthy for a thrash metal track but as a Kreator fan, it doesn't bother me. Lastly we have "Live Wire" which serves as the perfect closer to this album. Remember how I said this album had a Frankenstein feel to it? Well this one begins with a mad scientist shouting "it's alive". As it should. Electrical shock is essential for reanimating corpses in a castle laboratory. The music itself has a mid-80s thrash metal that is reminiscent of Nuclear Assault. My final thoughts on this album is that it's very solid. Anyone who knows me personally knows that I'm usually quite picky when it comes to thrash metal. But when it comes to this independent release, I feel like their gimmick is useful in the way that it helps them stand out. Of course they are all very talented musicians too. I'll give my buddy and the rest of his band a 7.5 out of 10. The drawback for me is the studio production. Having listened to this album four times in a row, I can tell you that the sound doesn't seem to be as crystal clear as it should. I'm not sure if that was a creative choice to make the recording sound old and less polished. If they were going for the analog/listening to this through a cassette tape on an old boom box then cool. I personally like the sharper and cleaner sound of modernized digital. But I'm sure there are many thrash heads out there who will dig this great album even more than I did.

Hopefully by now, everyone is familiar with those first three notes from the first Black Sabbath album. During The Middle Ages, this was referred to as DIABOLOUS IN MUSICA (which is Latin, meaning “The Devil In Music”). While also known as “The Devil's Interval”, or in musical parlance simply as the tritone, SLAYER fans recognize DIABOLOUS IN MUSICA as the band's 8th album of sonic evilocity and darkness, and the 2nd with Paul Bostaph on the drums.    Even though it was released on June 9, 1998, as the nu-metal era was peaking, DIABOLOUS IN MUSICA is most definitely NOT Slayer's “nu-metal” album. It still possesses all the sinister signature sounds and the dark, macabre subject matter, but there's an unusual, experimental quality present on this album which defies definition and is unlike anything found on their previous albums. The overall production quality is much more aggressive and grittier, with the vocal performances utilizing some never-before used darker nuances, ensuring that DIABOLOUS IN MUSICA is an almost gratifyingly uncomfortable listening experience.    It's time to get in touch with “good old ‘What's His Name?'” and discover the subtle yet hilarious differences between “chickpeas and garbanzo beans”. Find out “where to measure from” to ensure maximum accuracy, go ahead and “tune down your voice”, prepare for the most unsettling outro reel ever, fix yourself a bowl of hummus and JOIN US as we dive into the darkness of “The Devil In Music”, made manifest on SLAYER's DIABOLOUS IN MUSICA.   Visit www.metalnerdery.com/podcast for more on this episode Help Support Metal Nerdery https://www.patreon.com/metalnerderypodcast Leave us a Voicemail to be played on a future episode: 980-666-8182   Metal Nerdery Tees and Hoodies – metalnerdery.com/merch and kindly leave us a review and/or rating on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts - Spotify or your favorite Podcast app Listen on iTunes, Spotify, Podbean, or wherever you get your Podcasts. Remember the late '80s when thrash metal was roaring through the underground, just waiting to explode? Those were the days when Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax were solidifying their places as the big four of thrash. But amidst these giants, bands like Paradox were carving their unique paths with blistering riffs and complex compositions that sometimes flew under the radar. If you're the type of metalhead who loves to dig through the crates at your local record store, hoping to stumble upon something you might have missed, then Paradox's 1989 release “Heresy” is the treasure you've been looking for.Paradox formed in Würzburg, Germany, in 1986, led by the dynamic duo of Charlie Steinhauer and Alex Blaha. Initially part of a cover band paying homage to acts like Overkill and Venom, they quickly transitioned to creating their original sound. By 1987, they had inked a deal with Roadrunner Records, a label synonymous with underground metal. Their debut, “Product of Imagination,” set the stage, but it was their sophomore effort, “Heresy,” that really made waves in the metal community.Imagine discovering an album purely by accident on a metal blog, where a quick 30-second sample convinces you that you've struck gold. That's precisely what happened when Tim stumbled upon “Heresy.” This album is a masterclass in thrash, delivering the speed, technical prowess, and raw energy defining the genre while infusing progressive elements that set it apart. From the opening acoustic strains that segue into ferocious thrash anthems, “Heresy” grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go. Tracks like “Kill Time” showcase the band's insane technical skills, with 30-second note melodies played at breakneck speeds. It's not just about speed and aggression; Paradox brings a level of musicianship and melody often lost in thrash's chaos.A standout track, “Search for Perfection,” features harmonized leads that are as captivating as they are complex. These guys aren't just about playing fast; they're about playing smart, weaving intricate guitar lines that demand repeat listens to appreciate fully. The tracks “Heresy” and “700 Years On” blend the historical narrative with relentless riffs, creating a listening experience that's both intellectually and sonically stimulating. What makes “Heresy” particularly fascinating is its concept. The album delves into the Albigensian Crusade of the 13th century, a campaign initiated by Pope Innocent III to eradicate Catharism in southern France. This historical depth adds a layer of intrigue, making the lyrics worth diving into despite their rapid-fire delivery. The production, handled by Harris Johns (known for his work with Celtic Frost, Kreator, and Sodom), ensures that every note and beat hits with precision and power. No wonder this album still sounds fresh today, able to stand toe-to-toe with modern thrash releases. The band's journey didn't end with “Heresy.” After a hiatus, they returned in 2000 with “Collision Course” and have since released several albums, including “Heresy II: End of a Legend” in 2021. While line-up changes have been frequent, Charlie Steinhauer remains the driving force, keeping the spirit of Paradox alive and thrashing. So next time you're flipping through vinyl, keep an eye out for “Heresy.” Whether a $32 import or a hidden gem in the bargain bin, it's a worthy addition to any thrash aficionado's collection. And if you're still on the fence, take a listen on your preferred streaming platform. This is thrash metal at its finest, and it might just become your new favorite discovery.Songs In This EpisodeIntro - Heresy 15:29 - Killtime 16:55 - Search for Perfection 21:01 - Castle in the Wind 24:47 - Massacre of the Cathars 27:26 - 700 Years On Outro - Crusaders RevengeMake Your Metal Voice Heard! In our quest to explore the depths of 80s metal, we rely on you, our listeners.
