Welcome to Day 2428 of Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Wisdom Nuggets – Psalm 12:1-8 Wisdom-Trek Podcast Script - Day 2428 Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2428 of our Trek. The Purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. In today's Wisdom Nugget, I will guide you through the vast landscapes of biblical wisdom. Today, we are going to delve into Psalm 12. This psalm, attributed to David, speaks to the heart of human struggles with deceit, oppression, and the power of God's words. As we read Psalm 12:1-8 from the New Living Translation, we'll uncover profound insights about the integrity and trustworthiness of God in contrast to human deceit. Let's embark on this journey together! Psalm 12:1-8 (NLT): 1 Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth! 2 Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts. 3 May the Lord cut off their flattering lips and silence their boastful tongues. 4 They say, “We will lie to our hearts' content. Our lips are our own—who can stop us?” 5 The Lord replies, “I have seen violence done to the helpless, and I have heard the groans of the poor. Now I will rise up to rescue them, as they have longed for me to do.” 6 The Lord's promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over. 7 Therefore, Lord, we know you will protect the oppressed, preserving them forever from this lying generation, 8 even though the wicked strut about, and evil is praised throughout the land. The Cry for Help: David begins Psalm 12 with an urgent plea for help: “Help, O Lord, for the godly are fast disappearing! The faithful have vanished from the earth!” (verse 1). This opening sets a tone of desperation and concern for the state of society. David observes a troubling decline in godliness and faithfulness, which leads him to cry out to God. David's lament highlights a timeless issue: the erosion of moral integrity in society. He feels the weight of living in a world where the righteous are becoming scarce, and it seems like those who live faithfully are vanishing. This cry resonates with us today, as we often witness similar challenges in our own world. The Prevalence of Deceit: In verses 2-4, David describes the nature of the deceit he sees around him: “Neighbors lie to each other, speaking with flattering lips and deceitful hearts. May the Lord cut off their flattering lips and silence their boastful tongues. They say, ‘We will lie to our hearts' content. Our lips are our own—who can stop us?'” David points out the widespread dishonesty and flattery among people. Neighbors lie to each other, indicating a breakdown in trust and integrity within the community. The mention of flattering lips and deceitful hearts suggests that the deceit is not only prevalent but also deeply ingrained in the way people interact with one another. David's prayer for the Lord to cut off flattering lips and silence boastful tongues shows his desire for divine intervention. He is aware that human efforts alone are insufficient to address the pervasive deceit. The bold declaration of the deceitful, “We...

Psalm 64: A Reflection Introduction: Psalm 64, attributed to David, is a prayer for protection against enemies. David expresses his fear and his faith, asking God to shield him from the schemes and conspiracies of the wicked. This Psalm can be divided into three parts: the plea for protection, the description of the enemy's plans, and the affirmation of God's justice. Verses 1-2: A Cry for Help David begins with a fervent plea to God: “Hear me, my God, as I voice my complaint; protect my life from the threat of the enemy.” This opening sets the tone for the Psalm, highlighting David's reliance on God's protection in the face of danger. Verses 3-6: The Enemy's Schemes In these verses, David vividly describes the malicious actions of his enemies. He speaks of their tongues as “sharp swords” and their words as “deadly arrows,” indicating the power of their slander and deceit. The enemies plot in secret, laying traps and planning ambushes, confident that no one will see them. This section underscores the sinister and calculated nature of their attacks. Verses 7-9: God's Intervention Despite the enemies' confidence, David expresses faith in God's justice. He believes that God will turn the enemies' own schemes against them: “But God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down.” The imagery of divine retribution suggests that God's intervention is swift and decisive. As a result, the enemies are “brought to ruin” and their own words are turned against them. Verse 10: Rejoicing in God's Justice The Psalm concludes with a note of hope and praise: “The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!” David envisions a time when the faithful will celebrate God's deliverance and find safety in His presence. This final verse serves as a reminder of the ultimate triumph of righteousness and the steadfastness of God's protection. Conclusion: Psalm 64 is a powerful testament to the struggles of facing malicious adversaries and the enduring faith in God's protection and justice. David's plea, the depiction of the enemy's plans, and the affirmation of divine intervention collectively reinforce the theme of trust in God's sovereign power. For readers today, this Psalm offers comfort and encouragement, assuring them that no matter how formidable the opposition, God's justice will prevail, and the faithful will find refuge in Him.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.
Psalms 54: An Analysis Context and Background: Psalm 54 is one of the many psalms attributed to David. It is traditionally believed to have been written during a time when David was being pursued by King Saul. Specifically, the superscription notes that this psalm was penned when the Ziphites had betrayed David to Saul, revealing his location. This psalm is a poignant reflection of David's reliance on God in times of distress and danger. Text of Psalm 54: 1.Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might. 2.Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. 3.Arrogant foes are attacking me; ruthless people are trying to kill me—people without regard for God. 4.Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. 5.Let evil recoil on those who slander me; in your faithfulness destroy them. 6.I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, Lord, for it is good. 7.You have delivered me from all my troubles, and my eyes have looked in triumph on my foes. Analysis: 1.Verses 1-2: A Plea for Help •David begins with a direct plea to God, asking for salvation and vindication. He invokes God's name and might, emphasizing his belief in God's power and righteousness. The appeal for God to “hear my prayer” and “listen to the words of my mouth” signifies David's earnest and desperate situation. 2.Verses 3: Description of the Enemies •David describes his enemies as arrogant and ruthless, with no regard for God. This characterization highlights the severity of his predicament and the godlessness of his adversaries. It also implicitly contrasts their wickedness with David's faithfulness. 3.Verse 4: Declaration of Faith •Despite the dire circumstances, David expresses his unwavering faith in God's support. He confidently states that “God is my help” and “the Lord is the one who sustains me.” This verse serves as a powerful affirmation of trust in God's providence. 4.Verse 5: Call for Justice •David prays for divine retribution against his enemies. He asks God to let evil “recoil on those who slander me” and to destroy them in His faithfulness. This verse reflects the biblical theme of divine justice and the belief that God will right the wrongs committed against the faithful. 5.Verses 6-7: Promise of Praise and Gratitude •In the concluding verses, David promises to offer a freewill sacrifice and to praise God's name. He acknowledges God's past deliverance from troubles and looks forward to future triumph over his foes. The freewill offering signifies his gratitude and recognition of God's goodness. Themes and Lessons: •Reliance on God: Psalm 54 underscores the importance of seeking God's help in times of trouble. David's reliance on divine intervention is a central theme. •Faith in Divine Justice: The psalm reflects a belief in God's justice, where the righteous are vindicated, and the wicked face consequences. •Praise and Gratitude: Despite adversity, David commits to praising God and offering sacrifices, highlighting the importance of gratitude and worship. Application: •In contemporary contexts, Psalm 54 can serve as a reminder of the power of prayer and faith during challenging times. It encourages believers to trust in God's ability to provide support and deliverance, regardless of the severity of their circumstances. •The psalm also teaches the value of maintaining a spirit of praise and gratitude, even when facing adversity, and trusting in God's justice. Psalm 54 remains a profound testament to the enduring faith and resilience of David, offering timeless insights into the nature of divine support and justice.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.

David Korsunsky, founder and CEO of Heads Up Health, delivers an important overview of the current state of health information and steps we can all take to organize our health data. For more than 15 years Korsunsky has been a business leader, leading technology firms and forming strategic alliances. Recently, Korsunsky served as Director of Technical Alliances at VMware, Inc. where he led partnerships with global EHR companies such as GE, EPIC, Cerner, McKesson, Allscripts, and others. Korsunsky is active and believes in a healthy lifestyle, and it was his passion for good health that inspired him to find a new way to innovate in the healthcare space. Korsunsky sought to create a means for everyone to take charge of their health, by accessing important markers that elucidate where they are on the path to optimum health. Korsunsky talks about his sources of inspiration, from nutritionists to select nonconventional health advocates, who introduced him to a trove of information that was not always the go-to for traditional medicine practitioners. Realizing how his own personal medical information was literally scattered all over the place from healthcare office to office and patient portal to portal, Korsunsky knew there had to be a better way. He had a tremendous desire to find a way to connect his lifestyle choices with the blood work that would bear out his theories on diet and exercise, etc. Korsunsky founded Heads Up Health, a company that seeks to empower people, helping them to transform their health through the use of state of the art tracking tools. His team of experienced and knowledgeable health-conscious technology experts wanted to clean up the current system fraught with confusing medical records, underutilized health-tracking technologies, and poorly managed health data. Korsunsky saw a way to implement a software solution to clean up the mess and get to the heart of the matter—improving health for everyone by connecting them to their own data. The healthcare tech expert discusses how important trend lines can be totally missed by physicians when health records are scattered and unorganized. And when physicians cannot see the full picture over a long period of time, they are unfortunately less aptly equipped to make the best decisions on long-term care plans for treatment or general health advice. Korsunsky states that the onus is upon the patient, in most systems, for them to be their own advocate and investigate deeply into their own personal medical issues. He details how these markers of our health, the look into our blood work and body chemistry, are essentially our longevity numbers and it is important for individuals to know where they stand, to understand what needs work or improvement. Korsunsky outlines how their platform works and how users can enter their medical data and get active right away at tracking their health and making improvements. He discusses some of the important aspects of their system, such as tracking HOMA-IR (Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance) scores, which as he states is significantly better than simply looking at blood sugar. He explains how their platform actually collects data while we sleep, from heart rate to core temperature and beyond, to calculate a score and overall assessment of our recovery during sleep. Additionally, he elaborates on public data sets and useful information that he wants their users to have access to through the platform, to allow them to be notified about pharmaceutical news and more that could affect them. Korsunsky discusses their growth as a small company on the rise. He details how it is important to build out their system slowly and organically. Currently, they have tens of thousands of users and are growing via word of mouth. As their product is an intricate product its pace of growth is carefully controlled by Korsunsky and his team of developers. Korsunsky enthusiastically discusses the personal fulfillment he experiences when he hears stories of users who have learned to successfully manage or reduce certain chronic health problems by getting a handle on their data and working toward solutions to improve health. Based on his team's core belief that superbly organized data is a critical key to improving and optimizing health, Heads Up Health has created a central space where anyone can manage and explore the important information that is crucial to maintaining great health or improving their health issues

“I really, really want to help people and do something to make their lives better BUT I don't think I'm even qualified to do it.” Does this sound familiar? This is like saying, “I have superpowers and I want to help but I don't think I should because I'm not really a certified superhero.” WHAT?! This is a mindset issue. It's sad that you feel this way when deep down you know: “I CAN DO SOMETHING.” RIGHT. NOW. “But… b-but…” But what? Why do you let these excuses run your life? I don't know about you but it sure don't look like excuses are what the world needs right now. Excuses won't make your life worthwhile. And it is NOT what your people need to move their life forward. In Luke 12:48, the Bible says: “From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more.” Let that wisdom sink in, y'all. Now, are you ready for the big epiphany that you've probably (secretly) knew all along? YOU have a wealth of skills and talents that can solve people's problems. Yes! We mean, YOU, reading this right now! The opportunity to move forward and succeed is right in front of you. So, what are you waiting for? Do the thing you said you'd do! TAKE ACTION and STRIVE FOR THE LIFE YOU WANT. Don't take your gifts for granted, don't waste your potential, and don't kill your purpose. Let everything you do, everything you are and everything you will become be for the greater good. Be in tune with your superpower, embrace it! EVOLVE. And then never stop evolving, dreaming and doing. Our guest this week is someone with an amazing “superpower.” We'll be helping out a real-life cowboy get his horse training business online and overcome his aversion to technological know-how, so he can take it to the next level. It's going to be a huge transition but since training horses and cowboying it up are his superpowers, nothing's going to stop him from understanding the fundamental principles in building the foundations of a successful online business. And now, without further ado, here's David Neasons' story… David is a father of two teenage kids, married to his amazing wife, Katie, and is a day-working cowboy. Before we proceed, let's debunk the common misconception that cowboys equal to rodeo. There are different kinds of cowboys, with different skills that are remarkable labors of love. To cut it short, not all cowboys do rodeos, y'all! Some herd animals, some do the field work, and others are more like horsemen. Take David as an example, he is a working cowboy who specializes in horse training. Growing up in a family of cowboys, he started his first colt when he was in high school, and also trained several horses for other people to make some money while he was in college. But despite being a Texas A&M graduate, he found it difficult to decide which career to pursue, the world was changing and there were a lot of different paths to choose from. With tons of encouragement from Katie, David went on to start his career on horseback as a Feedyard Cowboy. He loved this job and immediately regretted leaving that for a nine-to-five career. By 2005, he decided to leave the office, pick up where he left off as a cowboy and help raise the kids at home. So, how exactly did he start going online if he's a full-time cowboy and horseman? Working with animals that weigh about ten times more than him, he is met with a lot of near misses and near death experiences on a daily basis. So, he goes on to share his daily escapades with his family and friends, to the point where it's almost a running joke that he almost always has at least one close call a day. But leave it to his wife to set the stage!
