In this episode of The Real Build, I sat down with my former high school football coach, friend, and mentor Coach Chris Metzger. Coach Metzger made a huge impact on my life growing up. He not only coached me in football but also instilled in me the values of hard work, discipline, and perseverance that have carried me throughout my life and career. His Leadership on and off the field helped shape the person I am today, and I'm honored to share our conversation, where we discuss the lessons learned on the gridiron, the importance of mentorship, and how faith in God has been a guiding force in both of our lives. Some other topics we discussed were going from transactional to transitional in coaching. Metzger's 5 Pillars of Success: Leadership is biblical, how you do one thing is how you do all things, and you take ownership. Does it really matter if a church is led by a team of leaders that are called by God, identified as men with godly character, serving as a team, with people they know well, and are leading by example?YES!  IT REALLY MATTERS!  This is why God lays out His Leadership Plan for His church through Elders who  lead His Church by PRAYING, teaching God's Word, shepherding, protecting, and overseeing GOD'S FLOCK (1 Tim. 3, Titus 1, Acts 20:28, 1 Pet. 5:1-4).How do you know if you are called to be an Elder?  What do Elders DO?  What should Elders NOT DO?  What should our response be to our church Elders?Listen in as Maurie, Joel, and Ryan talk through the question, "What is an Elder?" on today's podcast and grow in your understanding of how God really wants His Church to be led under HIS LEADERSHIP.
