Every year, Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference introduces updates that ripple through the App Store economy for years to come. In this special post-WWDC edition of Sub Club Live, host David Barnard sits down with RevenueCat developer advocate Charlie Chapman and world-renowned growth expert Thomas Petit to cut through the keynote hype. Together, they analyze the technical realities and strategic implications of the biggest announcements coming out of Apple Park.Rather than offering a generic recap of consumer features, the panel focuses entirely on the practical mechanics that impact subscription app growth, retention, and monetization. From the deprecation of SiriKit in favor of mandatory App Intents to the introduction of App Store Creative Assets and new subscription bundling options, this session provides a clear roadmap of what subscription businesses should test immediately, adopt eventually, or safely ignore.More content from the RevenueCat family:
Send us Fan MailApple's Worldwide Developers Conference just happened - and the message for home builders is bigger than most people realize. In this solo episode, Anya Chrisanthon - CCO at Anewgo - breaks down the biggest announcements from WWDC 2026 and translates them into plain language for home builder sales and marketing leaders.Siri goes agentic Apple rebuilt Siri from the ground up - powered by Google's Gemini and Apple's own on-device models. The new Siri doesn't just answer questions. It takes actions across apps on behalf of the user. Composing emails, managing files, performing multi-step tasks without manual navigation. The home buying version of this - scheduling tours, requesting brochures, getting answers about a specific floor plan - is coming. The builders whose digital presence is ready for it will have a significant advantage.Visual Intelligence in the Camera app Apple introduced a dedicated Siri mode inside the camera app. A buyer standing in front of your model home points their camera at the exterior - and Siri tells them the elevation, color scheme, community, and starting price if that information is structured and accessible online. Apple just built the infrastructure for a visual AI layer that sits on top of every physical space a buyer walks into. That changes what a model home experience looks like. The hidden feature Apple didn't announce After the keynote, developers discovered a hidden Extensions framework in the iOS 27 developer beta that lets users swap ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini inside Siri - infrastructure Apple built but chose not to announce. Apple is hedging. Siri becomes the container. The AI model underneath can be whatever the user prefers. When a buyer asks their phone about your homes, it might be Siri answering. Or ChatGPT through Siri. Or Claude. Or Gemini. If your digital presence doesn't give any of those AI systems enough specific, accurate, structured information to answer with confidence - you're not in that conversation. This is exactly why AEO matters across all platforms, not just one.Search gets faster Apple rebuilt the foundation of search across Spotlight, Mail, and Photos - and the new infrastructure indexes new files and data almost immediately. The lag between publishing content and having it surfaced by AI systems is closing. A community page that hasn't been updated in six months is going to look stale in a way it never did before.
Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference happened this week, and there was enough going on that we wanted to unpack the whole thing, primarily due to the company's uncharacteristic backpedaling on its... controversial Liquid Glass UI language, not to mention the unusual focus on CPU scheduling and numerous other performance refinements across the board in this year's OS updates, rather than the more typical long list of new features. It was enough to get us saying the words "Snow Leopard," which is always a good feeling. We also consider new broader parental controls, the apparently final state of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI features, and more. Support the Pod! Bobby and Jon are back with a pre-WWDC catch-up recorded the day before Apple's 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference. The episode begins with Bobby calling Jon from his new iPhone Air, having just switched away from the iPhone 17 Pro Max. That leads into a wider conversation about why “less is more” might be exactly what Apple needs right now, whether the iPhone Air is the perfect antidote to oversized phones and why the Apple ecosystem has started to feel more complicated than it used to.From there, Bobby and Jon preview WWDC26, looking at what Apple may announce across iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, Vision OS, Siri and Apple Intelligence. They discuss whether Siri can finally become genuinely useful, whether Apple's cautious approach to AI is actually a strength and why the company needs to balance intelligence, privacy, safety and simplicity. The conversation also takes a more serious turn into AI trust, generative AI, chatbot dependency, Silicon Valley's disconnect from the real world and the dangers of releasing powerful technology before it's properly ready. Then the episode swerves into motoring, with Bobby and Jon debating the new Ferrari Luce, its controversial design, whether it really feels like a Ferrari and whether Jony Ive's involvement makes the whole thing more interesting. Jon also confirms he has ordered the Kia EV3 and gives an update on the long-running Nissan saga. Also covered: Apple TV, CarPlay, Vision Pro, Apple Watch Ultra, AirPods, proper cameras, camping gear and why watching an Apple keynote with a beer and Notes app open is apparently a perfectly normal hobby.Chapters00:00 - WWDC begins tomorrow00:09 - Bobby calls from the new iPhone Air00:57 - Less is more and what Apple needs now01:33 - Moving away from the iPhone 17 Pro Max02:36 - Amazon discounts and the iPhone Air deal03:55 - Apple Watch battery life without iPhone05:27 - Why WWDC is really for developers05:55 - Smart home, smart glasses and foldable iPhone hints06:39 - Why the iPhone Air finally makes sense08:03 - Phone cameras versus proper cameras09:08 - Jony Ive, design magic and lightness10:11 - Tailoring, comfort and the feeling of not feeling something11:13 - iPhone Air size, screen and titanium body13:21 - Bobby's upcoming iPhone Air review plan14:21 - Has the Apple ecosystem become too complicated?15:48 - tvOS and the next Apple TV17:42 - Siri, Apple Intelligence and make-or-break WWDC18:14 - What a standalone Siri app could become19:10 - ChatGPT, Gemini and third-party AI integration20:04 - AI fatigue and young people pushing back21:43 - Silicon Valley, AI CEOs and real-world disconnect22:17 - AI chatbots, dependency and safety concerns25:14 - Is Apple cautious rather than behind?28:32 - Moving back to WWDC predictions29:04 - What should the new Siri actually do?31:23 - CarPlay, driving and putting your phone in the boot33:02 - Siri on Apple Watch and voice-first usefulness34:08 - Ferrari Luce discussion begins35:02 - Is the Ferrari Luce really an SUV?36:08 - Does it actually feel like a Ferrari?36:33 - Jon orders the Kia EV337:52 - Would Jon buy the Luce after winning the lottery?39:35 - Collectibility, rarity and future value43:24 - Why Jon chose the Kia EV345:33 - Nissan admits it can't fix Jon's car48:03 - Watching the WWDC keynote49:32 - Vision OS and immersive content50:25 - Project Hail Mary on Vision Pro51:01 - Final WWDC thoughts and September expectations53:02 - iPhone Air battery update and closing thoughtsApple, WWDC26, iPhone Air, Siri, Apple Intelligence, iOS, iPadOS, tvOS, Vision Pro, Apple TV, ChatGPT, Gemini, AI safety, Ferrari Luce, Jony Ive, Kia EV3, electric cars, Nissan, Tailoring Talk Magazine, Roberto Revilla, Jon Evans Hosted on Acast. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We discuss the upcoming iPhone 17e and iPad models, as well as Apple's apparent issues finalizing the revamped version of Siri, on this week's episode of The MacRumors Show. The announcement of the iPhone 17e is said to be “imminent," with stock of the iPhone 16e now dwindling. The new device is rumored to come with four main new features, including the A19 chip from the iPhone 17, MagSafe connectivity, the C1X cellular modem, and the N1 chip for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and Thread connectivity.New iPads are also on the horizon for the near future. The eighth-generation iPad Air is expected to move to the M4 chip, while the 12th-generation iPad is expected to jump a chip generation up to the A18, which will also enable Apple Intelligence support for the first time on the device. This week's biggest story was the news that Apple has again “run into snags" testing the personalized, smarter version of Siri originally planned for iOS 26.4. Due to the issues, the upcoming Siri features will likely be partially delayed and spread across several upcoming iOS releases. Apple could postpone some or all of the new Siri features until iOS 26.5, an update planned for May, and iOS 27, which will launch this September.Apple announced a significantly upgraded version of Siri powered by Apple Intelligence at its 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference, and they were originally supposed to be part of iOS 18. The following spring, Apple announced that the new Siri would take longer than expected, with the functionality delayed for a year.Since then, Apple has ostensibly been targeting iOS 26.4, which the company will begin beta testing later this month, but there have apparently been unforeseen problems: Siri sometimes doesn't properly process queries and can take too long to respond to requests.Apple engineers have been told to use iOS 26.5 for further internal testing, suggesting the new Siri features will be delayed until that update. Employees that are testing iOS 26.5 say the update includes all of the features Apple promised, including personalization, onscreen awareness, and the ability for Siri to do more in and between apps, but not all of the features are working reliably and there are problems with accuracy.Siri also apparently sometimes falls back on using ChatGPT for information instead of relying on the Gemini-powered technology that Apple has partnered with Google to use, even when the new version of Siri is capable of handling a user's request.Apple also planned to include features that haven't yet been announced, such as options to generate images with Image Playground or search the web. Image generation and web search were tested as part of iOS 26.4, and it's possible they will still be included in the update, so Apple might still be able to release some of the new Siri functionality. Bloomberg says the situation is "fluid," though, so Apple's plans could change, and executives are reluctant to further delay the Siri functionality beyond spring 2026.There are still major changes planned for Siri as part of iOS 27, with Apple aiming to add chatbot functionality to better compete with the likes of like Gemini and ChatGPT. This new version of Siri will also reportedly have deeper integration with apps and Apple's operating systems.Start your business with Shopify and get everything you need to sell online and in person. Aaron McIntire highlights the U.S. Army's stunning success in meeting its 2025 recruiting goal of 61,000 soldiers four months early, a turnaround from 2022-2023 shortfalls. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth credits a morale shift under President Trump's “America First” leadership, emphasizing war-fighting over “politically correct garbage,” boosting enthusiasm across all military branches. McIntire reflects on a heartfelt Iowa National Guard send-off ceremony, noting the sacrifices of “salt of the earth” Americans, but questions U.S. Middle East involvement. A federal judge approves the House settlement, allowing colleges to pay athletes up to $20.5 million annually, ending the amateur model and sparking debate over walk-on athletes and stability in college sports. McIntire criticizes the NCAA's greed-driven history, doubting the settlement will stabilize athletics. In Los Angeles, immigration riots reveal deep polarization: Vice President J.D. Vance questions if foreign nationals assaulting police constitute an “invasion,” while 40% of L.A. residents are foreign-born. Governor Gavin Newsom calls deploying Marines “deranged,” and the LAPD labels violent protests “peaceful.” McIntire argues this reflects irreconcilable ideological divides. Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference unveils “Liquid Glass,” a new iOS 26 interface, but McIntire slams it as a superficial “coat of paint” from a stagnant tech giant lagging in AI. A poll on planned June 14 protests predicts “America on Fire” (33.1%), with headlines likely to frame Trump as tyrannical, ignoring reality. A mix of patriotism, cultural shifts, and societal fractures.
