Det är fredag den 13 januari 2012 när det enorma kryssningsfartyget Costa Concordia kastar loss från hamnen i Rom och seglar ut på Medelhavet. Men snart börjar det enorma skeppet ta in vatten.Costa Concordia-olyckan får katastrofala konsekvenser och 32 personer dör.Journalisten Jan Mosander och hans fru Ingalill är på semester. This interview was done for the AIA California Housing Forum, of which I was the Chair of the Committee : Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter is an architect, educator, and design consultant specializing in the building envelope and the experimental architectural use of glass. She is Dean of the School of Architecture at Woodbury University and has taught at Yale, Cornell, UCL Bartlett School of Architecture, and SCI-Arc. Ingalill also serves as Director of WUHO, the Woodbury University Hollywood gallery, a venue for exhibitions, installations, and public dialogue, and serves on the Los Angeles Forum for Architecture and Urban Design Advisory Board.In partnership with Roland Wahlroos-Ritter, her architectural practice WROAD, navigates transdisciplinary territory in the diverse type and scale of projects. I det första avsnittet i vår nystart gästas podden av regissören och eldsjälen Mekail Jalaho. Mekail kom till Sverige från Somalia och växte upp i stockholmsförorten Jakobsberg där han under tonåren hamnade snett och hamnade i kriminalitet. Räddningen blev att han hittade en passion för teater. Efter att hans granne och kompis Mikael Persbrandts mamma Inga-Lill introducerade honom för teatervärlden öppnades nya vägar för Mekail. Han lärde känna nya människor och däribland Stig och satte upp hans pjäs VD på Stadsteatern som blev en hyllad föreställning. Under 2000-talet har Mekail jobbat mycket med ungdomar i Stockholms utsatta förorter och Jakobsbergs muslimska förening och han har utvecklat flera framgångsrika projekt som bland annat Hållbar Skola som arbetar för en tryggare skolmiljö. Frank Ebbert is a character, as you will soon discover. He presents himself as an architect based in the Washington DC area. A musician, writer and designer, he is exploring the intersections of the humanities and technology. His current projects include an introduction to how our built environment impacts ocean health. I met him in Story Skills, an AKIMBO-workshop we both took at the end of 2020. Now, Frank can talk, and talk a lot. He even said during our conversation on April 10th, 2021, that “as a public service to my friends and family, I ought to write more, I think, because I've got so much to say and I don't know why that is.” I don't know about that, as I enjoy speaking to Frank as much as I enjoy reading his writings. Our conversation start off with me reading something Frank wrote to me as we were trying to find a date for our first conversation. He wrote: “I mention it - your focus - because there is a part of me calling out again for that blessed space beyond the actual demands of others AND the call of a dozen projects I want to be working on. I am taking this morning as a windfall of time to consider the last two months roughly starting with altMBA. I am noticing that my attention was drawn to the wide range of challenges I face and decisions I have to make: all within a 30 day, 13 assignment timeframe with 14 hours per week of group discussion. It wore me out and depleted whatever tankespjärn I had in place to handle my situation. So I am in a reset. Not exactly negative. But not really positive either. Wintering. The gentle and the edge is in observing, just observing, your productivity and my anxiety. Letting my curiosity wander a bit. Letting my fears speak so they can know they are heard and don't amplify themselves to get my attention. Then I can start to see what is what. As seems to be the case frequently, I notice nothing has really changed around me. It's just me being drawn into the myopia of deadlines without breathing.” Now, you see as well as I, that what he wrote has nothing to do with finding a date for podcasting. It's about finding focus in life, and paying attention to the pace you are living it with. Perhaps a different pace, more in tune with your current whereabouts is needed? We talk about finding those places, spaces, settings, and/or contexts that nourish you. Being able to find them, making sure to hang on to them and how important that is for a life. Lived really well. One of my most nourishing fields is my Mastermind-group (started in 2013), and not a session goes by without me learning something new. About myself, the others, or the world. In the session I chaired a few hours before sitting down to converse with Frank, I was saying how time flies, without actually paying attention to what i was saying. Inga-Lill stopped me and said ”No. Time comes. Every day time comes to you. It's a gift.” Have you? Found the others, I mean? During our long and rambling, meandering conversation, we touch upon the importance of language, not once, not twice, but over and over again. The origins of the word deadline, how paying attention to right/wrong, must/should makes for a shift in how life is experiences, and specifically the difference substituting judgment for discernment has had for me. But we also touch on the American dream and the pursuit of happiness. Isn't it fascinating that American's aren't entitled to happiness, but rather the pursuit of it. Tankespjärn indeed!

Någonstans har Inga-Lill Sjöström en okänd syster. Som hon aldrig letat efter! Hur kan det vara möjligt, tänker sonen Olle. Tillsammans börjar de jakten på Olles okända moster. Ska de lyckas ? På ett fik i Söderhamn sitter Inga-Lill Sjöström vid ett bord och väntar på resten av familjen. Plötsligt sätter sig en kvinna på andra sidan bordet och frågar om hon inte är klar med protokollet. Ingalill säger att kvinnan nog tar fel på person, men kvinnan svarar Sluta larva dig!.  Men till sist tvingas hon inse att hon tagit fel och ger sig av. Någonstans i Sverige lever en kvinna som ser ut precis som Inga-Lill Sjöström, det har Olle fått höra många gånger.  Och någonstans i Sverige har mamma en också en okänd halvsyster. Det har hennes mor berättat. Kan det vara hon som Inga-Lill så många gånger förväxlas med? Leta efter henne har hon inte gjort och verkar inte så intresserad av det heller. En ny yrkesroll tar allt större plats i vården, så kallade peer supporters. Det kan handla om före detta patienter i psykvården med kunskap om vad stigma och utsatthet innebär i praktiken. I Stockholm finns flera peer supportrar som jobbar i öppen verksamhet inom Socialpsykiatrin. Ingalill Massiani är peer supporter inom Socialförvaltningens projekt Bostad först. - Det som jag har mest gemensamt med de klienter jag träffar är att jag har en stor erfarenhet av att leva i utanförskap, ett liv som få kan relatera till. Det är där jag jag gör den största nytta, berättar hon. Daniel Ungman är före detta missbrukare och han har ingalill Massiani som sin peer supporter. - Jag är rätt så van vid att mina ord inte väger något, folk tycker att jag gjort fel. Men när jag är med Ingalill blir jag som vem som helst, berättar han. Hör även om doulor som arbetar sida vid sida med barnmorskan, som stöttar och ger den där lilla extra omsorgen som vårdpersonalen inte alltid hinner med. Och så har vi rest till Zambia där man sedan länge arbetar med själverfarnas kompetens i vården. Episode 10 features Ingalill Wahlroos-Ritter, Dean of the School of Architecture at Woodbury University and Director of WUHO (Woodbury University Hollywood) Gallery.  Ingalill was elevated to the College of Fellows in the AIA this year, a high distinction awarded to only 3 percent of AIA members.  She serves on the advisory board of the LA Forum for Architecture and Urban Design,* and previously was on the Board of the AIA|LA.  Prior to her tenure at Woodbury, Ingalill taught at Cornell, Yale, the Bartlett, and Sci-Arc, and also worked as an architect, specializing in the building envelope and experimental use of glass.  In this episode, Ingalill discusses the importance of diversity and the role of ethics in architecture and architecture education.  Through her work at Woodbury, Ingalill has created multiple pathways for future architects, leading to a field that is more accessible and inclusive.  She also talks openly about gender and the complexities of raising a daughter in this world, and shares strategies for being a thoughtful leader. När Inga-Lill Lellkys man blev sjuk i cancer kände hon sig rädd, maktlös, ensam och frustrerad. Hon saknade någon att dela sina upplevelser med, en kompis som förstod hennes situation. Räddades av en stark vind Journalisten Ingalill Mosander inledde sitt Sommarprogram med att berätta om när hon och maken befann sig mitt i det skräckfyllda kaoset på lyxkryssaren Costa Concordia, som gick på grund utanför Italien 2012. - Det känns som jag är med i en skräckfilm, sa hon i programmet. Och fortsatte med att beskriva hur hon hanterade händelsen genom att gå in i sin journalistroll. När livbåten hon och maken kommit ned i, väl kom iland kastade hon sig på telefonen för att rapportera om det hela till nattchefen på Aftonbladet, en tidning som hon arbetat på sedan 1979. En större del av programmet handlade om läsning. Hon berättade om hur litteraturen kommit att prägla hennes liv, från det att hon lärde sig tyda krumelurerna i läseboken till riktiga ord, fram till idag, när hon nu suttit i Sveriges Televisions program Go’Kväll i 16 år och pratat om nyutkomna böcker. Under programmets gång tipsade hon också om ett antal böcker som hon verkligen tyckt om. Ingalill Mosander gav också bakomkulisserna beskrivningar från Bok- och biblioteksmässan i Göteborg och från flera av sina intervjuer med berömda författare. Hon pratade också om åldrande och det faktum att minnet ibland sviker och att vissa middagssamtal blir absurda när alla letar efter namnet på den eller det de refererar till. Hon konstaterade att livet ser ljust ut - just nu, för den dagen när livet tar slut närmar sig obevekligt, sa hon. Och så avslutade hon med att begrunda livets nycker: -  Fast egentligen är det ett under att jag sitter här idag. Om jag inte räddats av en stark vind hade jag drunknat i Costa Concordia-katastrofen. Varifrån kom den där starka vinden som förde det läckande fartyget upp på en klippavsats? Havet hade ju varit alldeles kav lugnt hela kvällen. Det tänker jag ofta på. Ingalill Mosander är journalist och författare, hon debuterar som Sommarvärd och har av tidningen Svensk Bokhandel blivit utsedd till Sveriges mäktigaste journalist i bokbranschen. Hon recenserar böcker i SVT:s Go´kväll och i Aftonbladet. Ingalill Mosander tilldelades år 2004 Axel Liffner-stipendiet med motiveringen att hon tillhör folkbildarna och skriver med en nyfikenhet och entusiasm som smittar av sig på dem som läser henne. Vad gör jag för fel? Varför drar folk sig undan? Skrämmer jag bort dem? Ingalill är 73 år och har jobbat med sig själv och sina problem i mer än 20 år. Men fortfarande undrar hon över om det är något i hennes beteende som gör att hon blir så ensam. Ytliga bekanta går det bra med. Men när det skulle kunna bli en närmare realation så är hon på sin vakt. Och egentligen, säger Ingalill, har hon varit misstrogen mot människor i hela sitt liv. Kan det hänga ihop med den svåra uppväxten, undrar hon när hon ringer till Radiopsykologen. Lisa, 19 år, skriver i sitt brev att hon den sista tiden har blivit så lättskrämd. Alla oväntade ljud och rörelser skrämmer henne. Hon känner inte igen sig själv och vill ha tips och råd för att komma ifrån sin rädsla.

Pastor and Bible teacher, David Guzik is the senior pastor at Calvary Chapel, Santa Barbara. David founded and pastored Calvary Chapel Simi Valley for fourteen years. He has been in pastoral ministry since 1982. David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has written several books and commentaries that are available at enduringword.com. David and his wife Inga-Lill have been missionaries in Siegen, Germany, directing the Calvary Chapel Bible College there. Having finished their work in Germany, they accepted the call to pastor Calvary Chapel Santa Barbara in the spring, 2010.
