Guests: Kelley Johnson Ministry/Business: Keirus by KJE Challenges around diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace are not new but still relevant. Over the last couple of years, those issues have been impossible to gloss over. When we discriminate against people for whatever reason, everyone pays a costly price. Kelley is Founder and CEO of KEIRUS by KJE, which helps organizations understand and build the “POWER OF WE,” creating spaces where people can add value and thrive. She is also the former host of the Cubicles & Christ podcast and author of Infinite: The Power of Love and Emerge!: Rise Up, Be Fearless and Take Possession of Your Purpose. She sees how DEI efforts are often aimed at hiring but stop short of enabling true workplace culture transformation. Kelley didn't always operate like her work mattered to God. She wasn't taught how to live her faith at work. But, once God opened her eyes to the fact that He cares about every part of our lives, she felt compelled to help others come to this realization and launched her podcast Cubicles & Christ. Today, Kelley is on a mission to help people not only understand the full breadth of what DEI is all about, but she also helps people understand how they can be part of the solution through the way they embrace diversity, make equitable decisions and take an active part in including others. She wrote Infinite: The Power of Love as a small group Bible study for workplaces and working Christians in the Church to learn what God says about DEI and how each of us can make a difference. Kelley Johnson, Ph.D., is a professional sexologist. She is a passionate sex educator who provides comprehensive sex education to private and charter schools, as well as small groups. In her work as a sexologist, Kelley guides couples and individuals in resolving sexual issues through non-medical modalities that work within their value system. As a young person, Kelley was profoundly fascinated by human sexuality, so much so that her high school peers sought her for information and education on sex, sexuality, and sexual health. Today, Kelley is a champion of body and sex-positivity, and her doctoral degree in Human Sexuality and master’s in Public Health Education reflects her advocacy for a sexually-just society. In this episode, Kelley and I address sexual issues couples face in their relationships. We explore challenges around sexual incompatibility and having polarized differences in sexual desires. We emphasize people’s responsibilities as sexual beings and underscore the importance of educating children on sex and body positivity. We discuss how couples can create a healthy environment that encourages their intimacy as well as how they can support each other in transforming a history of sexual abuse, trauma, and taboo into a healthy sex life. “You are responsible for your sexual self. There's more attention given to recording and streaming with performance venues closed due to the pandemic. It provides an opportunity to grow, stretch out, create new music, exemplified by a couple of creative releases from Seattle musicians from different generations. Young trumpet player and composer Ray Larsen has proved worthy of attention with a number of recent projects, notably Songs to Fill The Air consisting of a dozen short original pieces. Veteran Seattle pianist Walt Wagner, who played solo at Canlis for 20 years, has a new EP with five original tunes played by a trio that debuted at Jazz Alley. Both new releases will be sampled this week on Jazz Northwest. Also on this week's show are selections by Jay Thomas, Kiki Valera, Dan Balmer, Kelley Johnson and a couple of more historical recordings featuring tenor saxophonists Hadley Caliman, and Johnny Griffin and Eddie Lockjaw Davis together from a live broadcast in Seattle in the 60s. Judy Cites was a concert organizer, promoter and producer, tour manager, ticket maven, active fan and patron of music, dance and theatre. Pageant Junkies | Hopelessly Addicted to the Miss America Program
Kelley Johnson, Miss Colorado 2015, had a life-changing moment on the Miss America stage. In an instant, she became the face of nurses everywhere - Thanks to the fact that she was "not just a nurse"... And if you ever wanted to hear the real story regarding Kelley's talent, the answer to her on-stage question, or that whole blow-up with The View, today is your day. I realize I'm not supposed to have favorites - But honestly, we think this podcast ranks right up there with some of our best interviews to date. #BigJunkieThanks to Nurse Kelley... Enjoy! :)
On September 15, 2015, The View co-hosts Michelle Collins and Joy Behar poked fun at nurses and the nursing profession with their comments about the performance of Miss Colorado (and nurse) Kelley Johnson. In this program, two nurses, Sean Dent and Emily Bennett, respond to these comments in the only way that they know how. Enjoy!
