Guests: Hosts Catherine Gates, Nadya Dickson, & Martha Brangenberg Ministry/Business: Women in the Marketplace; Masters Program for Women; sheWorks4Him When we spend time in community, we inevitably learn from one another! Today, the co-hosts of sheWorks4Him do exactly that. Sit with us for a spell and hear how God is stirring in our lives, which scriptures are specifically drawing us in, and some highlights from the first season of sheWorks4Him! Catherine Gates reminded us that we are not alone, to believe what God says about us, and to invest in community (Hebrews 1-:24-25). Her focus scripture is Isaiah 26:3. Nadya talked about her word for 2022: empower. After all, empowered women empower women! Her focus scripture is Psalm 138:7-8. Finally, Martha shared how she continues to learn how to trust and obey God. Recent guest Heather Heuman said, “When God says to let something go, but your pride says to keep going, there really is only one right choice. #GodsWay.” In that spirit, we are obeying God's call for a season of rest and restoration! For now, that means we are taking a season break from the podcast. Please join with us as we seek when the Lord wants sheWorks4Him to return, and in the meantime, enjoy some past episodes and stay connected to be the first to know about the new season by subscribing HERE. Guests: Sheeba Philip Ministry/Business: Akola Many of us have a vision for what we want our career to look like. But God has a way of changing our hearts and messing with our plans to achieve His purpose for each of us. Sheeba started her career as a chemical engineer working on construction sites for Merck. God moved in her heart on more than one occasion, leaving her in what felt like the wilderness. Today, Sheeba Philip is CEO of Akola, a globally inspired jewelry brand built to champion women around the world and empower them to get out of poverty and provide for themselves and their families. Sheeba wrestled with integrating her faith and work early in her career. She attended Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City and was asked to lead the Faith and Work initiative. As she wrestled through what it looks like to live a more integrated life with other believers, she realized the importance of leading with love at work through patience, kindness, and gentleness. But God had given Sheeba a heart to do work with a purpose from the start. After getting a business degree, she left Merck to work in brand management for Kraft, International Justice Mission, and JC Penney. When JC Penney went through another restructuring, Sheeba found herself in a real wilderness experience, trying to figure out what's next. After two years, God led Sheeba to Akola, and suddenly all of her varied experiences connected and made sense. Akola means “she works.” God didn't waste any of her experiences but brought her through them “for such a time as this” to make a difference for women in Africa. Our careers can be a great adventure with God, and Sheeba's career is a great example. Sheeba has learned, and we can learn from her story, that God is faithful and He can be trusted. We can take bold steps of faith as we sense God's guidance. Guests: Erica Stidham Ministry/Business: www.MaryandMartha.com / www.Ericastidham.com Erica Stidham was raised in a Christian home and taught the value of being a stay-at-home mom. She had joined Mary & Martha for a discount, but when there was a financial shift in her husband's work, she asked God if Mary & Martha could be the answer. He turned this opportunity into a ministry for her family and for others. Later, Erica no longer had to work but she had work as a blessing, and her family embraced the opportunity to be generous for the Kingdom. Often, we work to meet our own expenses, but God has called her to work to help others. Looking back on where it all started, Erica quotes 1 Corinthians 2:9: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him.” The opportunity with Mary & Martha has been a huge part of her testimony and an incredible demonstration of faith and blessing for her children to embrace. Erica's life and obedience to God encourage us to trust His plan and follow His leading. Encouraged or motivated by today's show? Guests: Shalynne Jackson Ministry/Business: City of Oklahoma City Over the last several years, we have seen a significant increase in senior executive positions to oversee diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI. These positions are not only focused on strategies to create diverse workplaces but also workplace cultures that value all employees regardless of ethnicity, skin color, gender, or diversabilities. Today's guest, Shalynne Jackson, is the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the City of Oklahoma City. Her passion is to help organizations understand how to create equitable cultures in which everyone can thrive and do their jobs to the best of their abilities. One of the main catalysts for Shalynne to get into this work was a condition called alopecia. As she learned to find strength in her identity, embrace her baldness, and release the need to cover it up, Shalynne came to a deeper understanding of the impact of DEI work. To Shalynne, the most significant responsibility God has given us is to love others. Her role model and example is Jesus – he was the first true DEI leader! We can support more inclusive cultures by educating ourselves and advocating for equity and inclusion by speaking up. We can invest in getting to know people and listening to their stories. If we all come together, there could be a day when DEI initiatives are no longer needed because it is integrated into our culture. Encouraged or motivated by today's show? Guests: D. Michelle Thompson Ministry/Business: You Belong Podcast; Courageous Love at Work How do you create a workplace culture that is truly diverse, inclusive, and equitable? Business leaders wrestle with this question every day. Today's guest, D. Michelle Thompson, has worked for top advertising agencies and consumer packaged goods companies, negotiating budgets of hundreds of millions and even billions of dollars. Her work facilitating sales and marketing training for Middle Eastern Executives in Dubai made her realize everyone has their own “belong” story. This led to the launch of the You Belong Podcast and Courageous Love at Work, a place where conversations on racial equity in the work world can happen. This journey started when D. Michelle realized she was often the only woman or person of color (or both) in a meeting. The You Belong Podcast came from hearing the constant whisper from the Lord saying, “You belong.” On that podcast, D. Michelle interviews people who share their stories of shifting from thinking they belong to their company and the world to realizing they belong to God and His Kingdom. Courageous Love at Work got its start by pairing a white man and an African American man together for eight weeks, during which the white man focused on listening. It has evolved into monthly conversations where people can be challenged to go deeper in their empathy for others. Participants explore what it looks like to truly walk in each other's shoes and share power equitably. The goal is the unity Jesus talked about in John 17:21, that we may all be one, just as Jesus and the Father are one. D. Michelle sees her position as divinely orchestrated, allowing her to create safe places to have conversations around racial reconciliation and identity. Guests: Tracy Matthews Ministry/Business: Attune We are all bound to face uncertainty in our work. The truth is, we don't know what tomorrow holds, but we do know the one who holds tomorrow. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus admonishes us to “seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Jesus was not just referring to food and clothing but also the resources we need for our work. God wants us to turn to Him and inquire about our work. Tracy Mathews and her organization Attune are all about helping teams do just that. Tracy worked for a biotech start-up as a consultant and an engineer. She is the spark behind Attune; a ministry birthed out of the desire to help people live out their faith at work by intentionally seeking and listening for God's guidance on practical everyday work challenges and goals. The process involves three main steps: Listen, Discern, and Go. Organizations and leaders turn to Attune to address various work circumstances, such as launching into new territory, working through tough challenges, or embarking on a significant project. Attunement sessions facilitate hearing from the Holy Spirit and provide the added benefit of leadership development to create a stronger, healthier culture. Attune seeks to help individuals and teams cultivate their ability to tune into God's guidance through practice. Resources from today's show: Tracy is offering our listeners access to Wisdom from Above, a 5-day devotional on spiritual attunement, developed in partnership with Fuller's DePree Center for Leadership, the Theology of Work Project and Attune. Guests: Mary Guirovich Ministry/Business: My Promotion Plan In 2017, the Boston Consulting Group published an article called “Dispelling the Myths of the ‘Gender Ambition Gap,'” exposing the lie that women tend to reduce their goals for advancement in their careers as they become mothers and advance in years. BCG research shows that company culture has a more significant influence on women's ambition than age or family status. Today's guest Mary Guirovich wrestled with discouragement in her career but eventually became COO of the multi-million-dollar company she helped start because someone encouraged her. God guided her to create a plan for her promotion which took her to VP of Operations, then COO, and later partner. When she realized many other women like her struggle with seeing their value, she was inspired to write a book to share her promotion planning process. Mary is passionate about being a catalyst to help women advance in their careers and break through their own personal best in all areas of life. In her best-selling book, God's Not Done with You: How to Advance Your Career and Live in Abundance, Mary provides a system that is integrated with faith and has become the standard for advancing in her company. As Mary states, true promotion comes from the Lord. She needed to include God in her book, and we need to turn to Him with our ambitions, build our confidence based on who we are in Christ, and walk-in obedience to God. Guests: Heather Heuman Ministry/Business: Sweet Tea Social Marketing Heather Heuman is a digital missionary. You heard right – God has her in the social space teaching others about marketing but through the lens of being a missionary. Her career has taken a few turns, but when Dr. Jen Bennett mentioned the term “digital missionary,” Heather knew that described what she wanted to be. Her business has taken on several forms, and most recently, God has told her to stop doing the academy that she was doing to focus on what He wants her to do. Each of us might have programs or dreams that we are holding on to tightly, and it's time to ask God what He wants. Today Heather continues to help her clients “tame the online beast” and show up authentically in their workspace. She unapologetically talks about Jesus because He's important to her. How can each of us take this lesson and apply it to our own lives? Heather's final tip might be the answer: find the one thing you need to communicate and don't hide. Be all that God created you to be in your industry, and then share it! Resources from today's show: Heather is offering our listeners a FREE 31-Day Content Calendar! Guests: Julia Oltmanns Ministry/Business: Zurich Resilience Solutions The first picture we get of God in Genesis is as a worker, and since we are created in His image, we are also workers. Scripture makes it clear that God wants us to partner with Him in our work; however, conversations about faith at work often include concerns about how one can do it appropriately, if at all. The good news is, not only is it legal to bring your faith to work, but companies of all sizes across the country have Christian Employee Resource Groups to provide support and community for employees who want to honor God and do excellent work! Julia Oltmanns is Director of DEI Services for Zurich Resilience Solutions, providing training and consulting for other companies. She was part of the team that launched Zurich N.A.'s GoodNewZ Christian Employee Resource Group in 2018. She described that experience as her “Esther moment” and a turning point in her faith. When Julia reviewed the Christian Employee Resource Group request, she felt God calling her to get involved. GoodNewZ provides leadership and career development as well as a weekly prayer meeting, Bible studies, and the opportunity to celebrate Christian holidays together. In addition, the group equips employees to live fully integrated lives. Julia recommends that if you want to see a Christian Employee Resource Group, the first step is to connect and pray with a couple of other Christians in your company. Resources from today's show: For Julia's CERG Tool Kit, email Martha Brangenberg at martha@iwork4him.com and she will put you in touch with Julia. Guests: Rachel Rose Nelson Ministry/Business: Freedom Business Alliance Human trafficking affects over 40 million people. Although there are many impactful rescue organizations on the frontlines, today's guest believes that we need a strategy beyond the initial rescue to fight human trafficking and exploitation. Today we visit Portland, Oregon, to have a conversation with Rachel Nelson. Rachel is the Executive Director of Freedom Business Alliance. Rachel believes that Christian women in the marketplace have an opportunity to play a key role in creating safe employment opportunities for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation. After leaving an abusive relationship, Rachel became aware of the great needs of women and children that left them vulnerable to human trafficking. With her business background and personally held passion for "setting the captives free," Rachel became an integral part of Freedom Business Alliance. Women-owned and operated businesses play a huge role in responding to the economic and emotional needs of survivors of trafficking. A Freedom Business joins an alliance of other companies passionate about offering business training followed by economic sustainability to survivors. Rachel's testimony proves that God wastes nothing and that even our past traumas can be redeemed and used to serve Him and His people. Rachel reminds us of God's heart for the captive from her life verse in Isaiah 61:1-2, "The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn." Guests: Kelley Johnson Ministry/Business: Keirus by KJE Challenges around diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace are not new but still relevant. Over the last couple of years, those issues have been impossible to gloss over. When we discriminate against people for whatever reason, everyone pays a costly price. Kelley is Founder and CEO of KEIRUS by KJE, which helps organizations understand and build the “POWER OF WE,” creating spaces where people can add value and thrive. She is also the former host of the Cubicles & Christ podcast and author of Infinite: The Power of Love and Emerge!: Rise Up, Be Fearless and Take Possession of Your Purpose. She sees how DEI efforts are often aimed at hiring but stop short of enabling true workplace culture transformation. Kelley didn't always operate like her work mattered to God. She wasn't taught how to live her faith at work. But, once God opened her eyes to the fact that He cares about every part of our lives, she felt compelled to help others come to this realization and launched her podcast Cubicles & Christ. Today, Kelley is on a mission to help people not only understand the full breadth of what DEI is all about, but she also helps people understand how they can be part of the solution through the way they embrace diversity, make equitable decisions and take an active part in including others. She wrote Infinite: The Power of Love as a small group Bible study for workplaces and working Christians in the Church to learn what God says about DEI and how each of us can make a difference. Resources from today's show: Listeners will receive FREE bonus content from Infinite: The Power of Love, Kelley's new Bible study about diversity and inclusion. Guests: Krystal Stewart Ministry/Business: City Church Seven Hills; Keller Williams-Chantilly Over the last two years, there has been an overarching message of fear in the news, from the pandemic to threats of war. How do we continue to walk in the assurance of our faith and maintain resiliency at work and home? Today we go to Damascus, Maryland, to talk with the bestselling author of Claim Your Courage, Krystal Stewart, about overcoming fear amid challenging circumstances. Krystal is a cancer survivor, and while she was recovering from surgery, an opportunity landed on her doorstep... literally. A toddler boy and his baby brother were handed to Krystal and her husband as their homeless parents battled with addiction. Krystal and Ronnie's little family quickly grew, as did life's challenges. Krystal shares her inspiring journey of courageous living from both the ministry and marketplace platforms. When asked how we can make an impact in our cities as Christian working women, Krystal challenges our listeners to identify the needs closest to us. "Love looks around." Her life verse comes from John 16:33, "These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation but take courage; I have overcome the world." Guests: Peggy Bodde Ministry/Business: Sacred Work Giving our best is easiest when we have confidence in the value of our contribution. Yet too many Christian working women perceive their work in the marketplace as less valuable than those in ministry or missions. Peggy Bodde wrestled with seeing the value of her work until God showed her that what He had commissioned her to do was essential to the Kingdom of Heaven. God used a painful situation to help her see that she was putting her successful corporate career above her relationship with Him. So, eight years ago, she took a step of faith and started her own business as a full-time writer for educational publishers, researching and writing textbooks. She also writes content to equip and support Christian working women. Peggy once struggled with her roles as a single mom and a businesswoman, feeling inadequate all around. She now gains ongoing encouragement from the Holy Spirit, God's Word, and a community of professional Christian women. She integrates her faith and work in three main ways: show excellence, broker hope, love fully. She also proactively equips others through a private LinkedIn group, through the content she writes, and by mentoring other Christian women, so they see the value of their work in God's eyes. Guests: Kimberly Wright Ministry/Business: Unconventional Business Women Scripture is full of principles to apply to our business and our work. However, doing so is unconventional - unconventional business, that is. Now add to the equation that men and women are not the same. Meeting the specific needs of men and women is critical to our flourishing, so when we put these two ideas together, we get Unconventional Business Women. Before Kimberly Wright became the new Executive Director of Unconventional Business Women (UBW), she was an attendee who found encouragement and a sense of belonging there. Many women struggle with loneliness, guilt, and comparison, and UBW is a place to learn to let go and embrace who God made them to be in all aspects of their life – especially work. Kimberly is excited about the upcoming speaker for UBW's Spring Summit – as she has recently read Jordan Raynor's book, Redeeming your Time, and gotten such great insight into prioritizing her own time. Guests: Adrian Bracy Ministry/Business: The Bracy Group So many women wonder, “what's my calling?” Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are God's “handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” We need to look to God for each step and be ready to pivot as He leads. Adrian Bracy understands this firsthand. She walked through a time of testing that became a significant turning point in her walk with God when a new leader came into the company who was uncomfortable having a black woman in a leadership position. God used that pain and turned it into a springboard for Adrian's career with the NFL working with the Miami Dolphins, St. Louis Rams, and serving as CFO for the Arizona Cardinals. Adrian also attributes her success to the mentoring she received from other women. They guided her not to take things personally, to manage her emotions, and at the same time, to speak up. After 18 years with the NFL, God led Adrian to pivot again and accept the CEO position for YWCA Metro St. Louis. Adrian credits much of her success to her faith and the community of like-minded women and men she has around her. She has benefited greatly from participating in Bible studies and community with The Rooted Sisters over the last few years. Rooted Sisters provides a safe place where working women can be authentic, love each other, and love the Lord. Today, Adrian provides executive coaching, consulting, and speaking. Guests: Helen Mitchell Ministry/Business: HelenMitchell.org; Biola University As Christian working women, we are often faced with the tension of finding a balance between our workplace, family, and church. How can we lead confidently as the women God designed us to be and do the work God assigned us? Today's show goes to Orange County, California, to speak with Helen Mitchell about unleashing Christian women to live and lead authentically in their workplaces – be it the marketplace, a nonprofit, or the home. Helen is the Director of the Talbot Center for Faith, Work & Economics at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University and an Ethics and Leadership Professor in the Crowell School of Business at Biola University. She is also an author, speaker, and leadership and strategy coach. Helen's leadership in the business world, the local church, and academia gives her the background to build bridges between the church and the marketplace. She is influencing the next generation of business leaders and women in the marketplace. Helen met Jesus at the age of eight at a church camp and, at 15 years old, felt the call to pastoral ministry. She recalls telling the Lord that she would serve Him with her whole life. “No matter where?” God responded. She went on to an Executive role in AT&T and then helped architect the Marketplace Ministry at Saddleback Church, resulting in over 300 small groups across Southern California. Helen challenges us as women to step up and step out in our God-Given callings and purpose, but only after we fully step into our God-given identity. Guests: Shelley Simpson Ministry/Business: J.B. Hunt Transportation Our careers and lives don't always unfold the way we expect. As Proverbs 16:9 tells us, “We can make plans, but it's the Lord who orders our steps.” When Shelley Simpson took her first position with J.B. Hunt Transportation as a Customer Service Representative, she thought it was a temporary assignment. She had no idea that this would be the company she would grow with or just how far that growth would take her. Shelley is the poster child for “bloom where you're planted.” Today, Shelley is Chief Commercial Officer and EVP of People and HR for J.B. Hunt, a demanding role that her relationship with the Lord carries her through. A key turning point for Shelley was when she realized working outside the home AND being a great mom and wife can co-exist as we rely on the Lord. Shelley grew in her ability to live an integrated life from her experience with Workmatters and gives back by mentoring young professional women through the Workmatters Institute. Her personal mission statement – “I will create an eternal impact in leadership by serving people, loving others, and being a good witness while integrating my faith, family, work and community” – informs the framework for her day and supports her ability to set healthy boundaries and set a positive example for others. Guests: Bishop Larry Jackson Ministry/Business: True Value of a Woman Over the centuries, women have made huge strides in terms of equal rights. From the women's suffrage movement to trailblazing opportunities today, women have experienced tremendous breakthroughs! Yet, today, many of the world's ills stem back to women's freedom and dignity being marginalized, or worse, violated. Today, we will talk about the true value of a woman from a Kingdom perspective, with our first-ever male guest, Bishop Larry Jackson. Bishop Jackson is an author, speaker, pastor, and founder of Bethel Outreach International and True Value of a Woman (TVOW). One of the first speakers at Promise Keepers, Bishop had a heart for raising up godly men. After founding Bethel Outreach Church in Charlotte, NC, he started receiving promptings from his wife and the women's ministry of his church to launch a women's movement. True Value of a Woman has gone on to help women all over recognize their position and value in the world and the kingdom of God. Guests: Lesly Webb and Marc Yount Ministry/Business: Field Agent Across the business world, there is still an imbalance between the number of men and women leaders. Women represent less than 30% of those in leadership and less than 20% of women at the C-level. One important factor that contributes to this deficit is insufficient mentoring and sponsorship for women in the workplace. Field Agent, a technology company in Northwest Arkansas that helps brands win at retail, prepares women for higher levels of leadership. Today's guest, Marc Yount, mentored our other guest, Lesly Webb, to take his place as COO before becoming its President and Chief Commercial Officer. The culture of Field Agent is built on a foundation of kingdom values that are communicated and integrated into everything the company does. In order to provide the best work environment for both men and women, Marc believes we must be conscious of the daily decisions we make and how those choices might be influenced by the male-female dynamic, then adjust to ensure equal treatment. At the same time, he believes there needs to be room to embrace and address the specific needs of men and women. Lesly encourages the women she invests in themselves and have grace for the journey. Building trusting relationships allows Field Agent to have a strong leadership team and create a culture in which all team members can flourish! As the Executive Director of Polished Network, a community for Christian Working Women, Amy leads and shepherds women into a global faith community, in-person and online. She is also a seminary graduate and teaching pastor at her local church. As a female pastor in a dominantly male world, Amy has learned that her confidence rests between her and God and not in others' opinions – something we can all apply to our lives! Guests: Cindy Marks Ministry/Business: Love Our Cities; PrayModesto Sometimes the needs in our communities are so daunting that it leaves us feeling like our contribution is insignificant and we are unable to create impact. In 2012, the crime rate in Modesto, California, was significantly higher than the US national average. Community and social activist Cindy Marks, and a group of fellow Christ-followers, wanted to see their city change – but how do you change something so systemic? By asking the one who has the power to change anything! This faithful group of Christians launched Pray Modesto, an umbrella under which they brought together Christian churches, ministries, and organizations to have continuous daily prayer for Modesto by assigning each entity one week to pray. And guess what? The results are in. Over the last five years, the city has experienced a measurable decline in crime. Cindy Marks has always had a passion for government, education, and prayer. Her vision to see God heal relationships and be glorified in every sphere of influence caused Cindy to say ‘YES' to God, not knowing she was an answer to the many prayers of others. Tune in to this incredible show as Cindy shares about how to make a difference in our schools and communities by taking God at His Word and stepping out in faith, even when we don't know what the outcome will be. Resources from Today's Show: Cindy is an incoming participant in the Masters Program for Women – a training program that helps you reframe your perspective, discover your calling, and reorient your life around making an eternal difference! Guests: Heidi Lewerenz Ministry/Business: HL Strategies LLC Women in the workplace often experience the tension of navigating a career and motherhood. This sense of “mom guilt” comes from trying to maintain a compartmentalized life – the kind where work and family never intersect. As a businesswoman and mother of seven children, today's guest, Coach Heidi Lewerenz, understands the challenge of living a truly healthy and integrated life. For years, Heidi put a great deal of energy into ensuring her professional life didn't intersect with her family life. That approach left her drained, conflicted, and never feeling fully present in either area. Through some serious soul searching and prayer, God showed Heidi that she had been putting her identity in her various roles, rather than in Christ. It was when she shifted her perspective on WHO she was, that she finally experienced the freedom to embrace both of her roles. Tune in to hear about how Heidi shifted her identity, put aside her assumptions, and found a new way of living that gave her more confidence, peace and freedom. Guests: Rowlanda Cawthon Ministry/Business: Northwest University Studies show that men and women generally demonstrate similar levels of ambition and talent as they start their careers. And although women tend to earn more advanced degrees than their male counterparts, men frequently gain more encouragement and support to pursue their ambitions in the workplace. Dr. Rowlanda Cawthon, the Dean of the College of Business at Northwest University, is an undeniably accomplished woman. In today's show, she talks with hosts Martha Brangenberg and Catherine Gates about advocating for yourself and others, the mysterious leading of the Holy Spirit, and trusting God in the face of opposition. Dr. Rowlanda Cawthon worked in criminal justice for almost 11 years before she felt God leading her to go back to school to pursue teaching and a spiritual mentor confirmed the calling. So, she went back for her educational doctorate in organizational leadership – a choice that brought her to where she is today. The Lord has taken Rowlanda in directions she hadn't planned - getting her Ph.D., working in education - but as she looks back, she can see how God prepared the way. Rowlanda now wants to carry on the mantle that her spiritual director started, to encourage and inspire others to seek God and follow His lead, no matter where it takes them. Guests: Dara Perreira Ministry/Business: Proverbs and Productivity You want to bring your faith to work, but how? After all, you don't see too many people in your office inquiring about God before they start a project or deal with that personnel issue. Dara Perreira has been there. She has worked in Human Resources for years in places like The Home Depot, apparel companies, and as the Director of Human Resources for the Catholic Diocese of Honolulu, Hawaii. Dara can smile on even the most difficult days because she has come to know in her heart who she is really working for - the Lord. In this episode, Dara encourages women to make a difference, get into community, and make Jesus our focus at work. Dara also shares her love for M's. Not M&Ms but having a Messiah Manager Mindset (MMM) at work and knowing when to be Mary and when to be Martha. Our mindset leads everything we do, how we respond to challenges and how we make decisions. Having the Messiah Manager Mindset means you consider yourself a manager of your work for Christ with Jesus as the CEO. There is a time and a place to be still and receive and another time to act. We all need to take time at the feet of our Lord Jesus, as Mary did, so we can then shift to being like Martha, serving and doing our work with excellence. Resources from today's show: Dara understands the importance of getting into community with like-minded Christian women in the workplace. Memorial dedication: Dec 10, 1960 – Nov. 20, 2021 At the time of this recording Lynn Ewonaitis, the guest was fighting a battle against leukemia. But, with God's favor, Lynn had a very good day for this interview, and you get to hear a little piece of her testimony and love for Jesus. We are so grateful for the friendship we found in Lynn and how she wore Jesus on her sleeve for all to meet. On November 20, 2021, Lynn got to meet Jesus face-to-face and is finally healed. Guests: Lynn Ewonaitis Lynn Ewonaitis came to know Jesus because He was calling her. A “chance” meeting with Jim Brangenberg - our host, Martha's husband - led to a conversation about having a personal relationship with Christ. After that, Lynn began reading the Bible and discovered what it meant to have Jesus as a friend. From praying with clients at the Christian radio station where she worked to speaking kind words even when she doesn't feel like it, Lynn is learning daily how to live her life so that people can't help but see Jesus. Today, Lynn's workplace looks a little different. Her full-time job is going to doctor appointments and preparing for a bone marrow transplant to treat her leukemia. During this season, she is praying over the outcome of medical tests and showing Jesus' love to the nurses that take care of her. It's not easy, but God has given her a gift in life to live boldly, and she's doing exactly that every day. Resources from today's show: The verse Lynn shared today was Psalm 139:1-4. The word of the Lord is powerful, and Lynn has tapped into that power by giving away dozens of Gospels of John through The Pocket Testament League. It's what led her to Christ, and her hope is that it will do the same for those she shares it with. Encouraged or motivated by today's show? Guests: Sandy Olsson Ministry/Business: Sandy Olsson, Mentor & Speaker According to a recent survey by Olivet Nazarene University, there is a significant gender discrepancy in professional mentorship, with 82% of men having had male mentors. In comparison, just 69% of women have had female mentors. Finding a professional mentor can be a complex process that requires things like mutual learning and development, life-long experience and guidance, tools for growth in key areas of life, and most importantly, someone who is experienced in listening and able to help shift you in the right direction. Today's guest, Sandy Olsson, has years of experience in professional mentorship and talks with hosts Martha Brangenberg and Nadya Dickson about the power of women mentoring women. Sandy worked in the marketplace from an early age where she learned integrate her faith into her work. As she matured in her faith and personal leadership, Sandy began mentoring other women, later founding The Masters Program for Women, to help them discover and fulfill their God-given purpose through achieving balance, margin, and focus.
