Welcome back to Liverpool Squad Talk, our in-depth series analysing the Liverpool squad ahead of the summer transfer window! In Episode 2, we focus on the defenders, assessing who should stay, who should go, and which players Liverpool should target to strengthen the backline. One of the biggest talking points is at left-back, where I'll be analysing Kostas Tsimikas and Andy Robertson - who should depart this summer, and who should remain at the club? With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, I'll also explore potential centre back and right back targets that Liverpool could pursue in the transfer market.
Liverpool earned a clinical 5-0 victory over West Ham United at London Stadium on Sunday evening in the Premier League. The Reds opened up a three-goal advantage at the half-time break following an impressive opening 45 minutes, which saw goals from Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah. After the interval, Trent Alexander-Arnold added to the scoreline for Arne Slot's men, while substitute Diogo Jota put the finishing touches on the game in the latter stages, helping move Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the standings in style. Coming up in this podcast Arne Slot, Jarrell Quansah and Kostas Tsimikas reflect on the impressive display in the capital. Former Reds Sammy Lee and Ronnie Whelan joined Becky Davis in the studio for LFCTV's post-match show, whilst Ray Houghton gave his analysis of the game from down at the London Stadium. Our fan panel contributors, Joel Richards, Mo Stewart and Jackie Willcox from the Official LFC Supporters' Club in Madrid, joined us remotely to give their thoughts on Liverpool's victory.
Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Today's Blood Red Podcast features Paul Gorst and Theo Squires. Pep Lijnders had plenty to say ahead of Liverpool's League Cup semi-final second leg trip to Fulham on Wednesday. The Reds boast a 2-1 aggregate lead ahead of travelling down to Craven Cottage, and they have been handed a welcome boost ahead of setting off to the capital with it confirmed that Andy Robertson has returned from injury and will be included in the matchday squad after a three-month absence. Lijnders also suggested return dates for Dominik Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Kostas Tsimikas, while offering positive news on Curtis Jones. And he also shut down any criticism of Mohamed Salah while explaining the decision for the Egyptian to return to Liverpool prematurely from AFCON duty after suffering a hamstring injury. Intromusikk Pausepraten: The Epic 2 by Rafael Krux Link: https://filmmusic.io/song/5384-the-epic-2- License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Music promoted on https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ Hosted on Acast. 14:13: Joe Gomez inn for Kostas Tsimikas. 08:10: Sjansene for å gå hele veien i ligacupen. Intromusikk Pausepraten: The Epic 2 by Rafael Krux Link: https://filmmusic.io/song/5384-the-epic-2- License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Music promoted on https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ Hosted on Acast. Liverpool 2.0 is really cooking under Jurgen Klopp so far this season and I'm a firm believer that it is largely down to one man - Dom Szoboszlai. I talk through a tactical analysis of what I've seen so far from the Hungarian at Anfield this season and how he and other Liverpool FPL assets are really great picks - especially Kostas Tsimikas. A massive THANK YOU for all your support watching, liking and sharing the Podcast! _________________________
On the latest RAW, Trev Downey, Dave Hendrick and Karl Matchett give their post match thoughts on Liverpool 3 Nottingham Forest 0. As ever, the performances are assessed and the key moments analysed in what was a comfortable victory for Jürgen Klopp's men. Some of the discussion points include - the incremental improvement of Kostas Tsimikas as he finds a rhythm,; the twin threats and transformative talents of Dominik Szoboszlai and Darwin Nunez; the self-advertised tactical influence of Pepijn Lijnders and the low-key way in which the Reds are keeping pace comfortably with the league leaders. 17:32: Får Klopp for stor makt i klubben? Intromusikk Pausepraten: The Epic 2 by Rafael Krux Link: https://filmmusic.io/song/5384-the-epic-2- License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Music promoted on https://www.chosic.com/free-music/all/ Hosted on Acast. David Comerford and Farrell Keeling react to Liverpool's goalless draw with Chelsea in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp sprung a surprise with six changes as Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Kostas Tsimikas, Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino came in, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo dropped out. Chelsea created almost all the chances on the night and saw goals disallowed for Kai Havertz and Reece James. Liverpool will now face Arsenal on Sunday afternoon in a game that will be crucial for both their top-four hopes and the Gunners' title bid.David Comerford [host] - https://twitter.com/Dave_ComerfordFarrell Keeling - https://twitter.com/farrellkeelingYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwLbFlaIGmNelVEg4NOlEOwEmail us - redsunrestrictedpodcast@gmail.comBig Heads Media - https://twitter.com/BHMpodcastsIntro/outro music:"Newer Wave" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licensehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

Jurgen Klopp and Kostas Tsimikas have taken questions from the media as they prepare to face Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Liverpool are coming off the back of a draw in the Premier League with Brighton so will be looking to set the record straight, enjoy.

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Top of the Premier League, top of their Champions League group, and through to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup, it's been close to a perfect start to the season for Liverpool, going into their huge match with Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. And it has been a squad effort, with Jurgen Klopp having used 26 players in Liverpool's unbeaten nine-game run to start the campaign. And one player who has certainly taken his chance to shine is Kostas Tsimikas, who is already well on his way to surpassing the seven appearances he made in his debut season at Anfield. The Greece international has been excellent in the four starts he has made so far this season, proving to be a more than able deputy to Andy Robertson. So, to find out a little more about Tsimikas, the Liverpool ECHO's Theo Squires picked up the phone to former Bolton Wanderers winger, Euro 2004 winner, and ex-Greece assistant-manager, Stelios Giannakopoulos, who also explains how close he came to becoming the first Greek player to play for Liverpool.Get exclusive podcasts direct to your inbox every week for FREE by joining the Blood Red Club. With Liverpool marching on in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, Josh Williams and David Hughes return with the latest Analysing Anfield podcast. Delving deep into the 3-0 win at home to Crystal Palace that kept the Reds level at the top of the league, and touching on the 3-0 win away to Norwich City that booked their place in the fourth round of the cup, our hosts pull out some very encouraging underlying numbers. They also focus on the form of Kostas Tsimikas, and the one area of his game where he could be an actual improvement on Andy Robertson, as well as set-pieces and why all the talk over signing another striker in the summer may have been misplaced. They then look ahead to this Saturday's trip to Brentford, whose numbers, approach and recruitment could well make it a more difficult match for Liverpool than most would expect. And there's also a quick preview of next Tuesday's Champions League clash at Porto.Get exclusive podcasts direct to your inbox every week for FREE by joining the Blood Red Club. Gameweek 2 of the Premier League saw the Liverpool machine quietly chug along with a 2-0 win over Burnley, with Kostas Tsimikas and Harvey Elliott impressing. Man City thrashed Norwich 5-0 and it's more of the same for the old Canaries, but what's up with Puma's third kits for a bunch of clubs? Who signed that off?! Elsewhere, Man United limped to a disappointing 1-1 draw with Southampton, before Romelu Lukaku announced his arrival back to the Premier League with a debut goal within 15 minutes. We also talk about the unsavoury scenes involving fans at Nice in a game against Marseille, reveal what Martin Jol's brothers are called and debut a brand new game for the season! Paul Gorst joins Matt Addison for the Post-Game podcast to react to Liverpool's 2-0 and 1-0 wins over Bologna - and the huge news that Lionel Messi is leaving Barcelona. Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino were on the scoresheet in Evian while there were also impressive performances from the likes of Kostas Tsimikas and Kaide Gordon. A further boost came in the fact that Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both came through 43 minutes as they stepped up their returns from long-term injuries. And given it has just been announced that six-time Ballon d'Or winner Messi will leave Barcelona after 21 years, Paul and Matt give their thoughts on that, too.
