In 2020, Harry Lloyd was a little lost. He had just finished University and couldn't chase his dream of being a cowboy in America due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At the same time, we'djust started the Humans of Agriculture Podcast and Harry was recommended to listen, which turned out to be a pretty pivotal moment for him.  "The one thing I took away from the podcast is to say yes. Plan A's not going to happen anytime soon, so I'll just start saying yes to opportunities and see where it leads me."Harry grew up in Kyabram, Victoria, where he calls the safest place on the planet. He loved his upbringing on his family's dairy farm and now calls Kyabram home again, farming in partnership with his brother.  Tragically, Harry's life was turned on it's head at the age of 18 when his Dad suddenly passed away. The community rallied around his family and helped them milk cows as they navigated what happened to the farm and their cattle.  At the time, he didn't himself in farming and instead was going into Sports Management at University. But soon into his course, he was missing the farm and found himself more interested in his mates Agribusiness course. So he made the switch. He found his niche passion in regenerative agriculture and how to look after animals, paddocks and the planet more broadly.  "I was conscious about the idea of farming in a way that not only is sustainable, but also benefits the environment and improves it for those future generations." Harry wants to do things differently, while being mindful that you can't be sustainable if you're not profitable and you can't throw away everything that we've learned over the years.  "The opportunity to trial so many different things is why I like agriculture. Especially dairy, because you can do something and you'll see the results the very next day."  This episode is delivered in a Paid partnership with Dairy Australia, if you're interested in a Career in Dairy - head to Dairy Jobs Matter00:00 Introduction and Impact of Humans of Agriculture Podcast04:20 Growing Up in Kyabram and Community Involvement08:14 Family Farm and Dealing with Tragedy09:39 Career Path and Interest in Regenerative Agriculture14:24 Learning and Working on Different Farms29:30 Opportunities in Dairy Farming for Young People33:47 Find your Career in Dairy at Dairyjobsmatter.com.au

There is never a dull moment in the INXS world, and this week I was fortunate enough to take in the fantastic cover band in Victoria, Australia, “INXSIVE”! With blistering live performance, it reminded me of those nostalgic days when in the car with Mum and my sister on the 120 miles drive to Kyabram for Xmas.   As such, the good old mix tape offset the crackly fade of early 80's AM and the non-existent FM regional frequency. So, today I dive deep and retrospectively apply unique and meaningful INXS songs to an era in time that is sorely missed and remembered with nostalgic fondness.   We also get to hear Bee's 1995 Pleasure and Pain tracks, with an emphasis on the pleasure (of course). With some fantastic interviews lined up over the next month, INXS: Access All Areas indulges in what INXS means to its co-hosts, and we hope you, too, can submit for mention your own INXS mix tape with a personal theme attached. A witness collaborated the mainstream media’s report about the Police’s closure of a Passover prayers gathering run by a group of breakaway former Addass-Israel Orthodox men in Melbourne’s Ripponlea area, who despite previous warnings, did not adhere to the Corona Virus pandemic rules and continued to meet and whose leaders were in consequence issued with a $1652 fine. The Jewish Anti-Defamation Commission strongly condemned the planting of a Nazi Swastika flag, with two Chinese flags and a banner with the words "COVID-19", above the Telstra phone tower on Bradley Street in Kyabram, 212K north of Melbourne, an act that is understood to be racially motivated during the coronavirus pandemic and which led the Commission to again urge the Victorian Government to ban the public display of all Third Rich symbols. The ECAJ again appealed to Amazon and Australian Dymock’s book sellers to remove Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” and some 60 Nazi, racist and antisemitic titles from their online book store, stressing that the implementation of these ideologies have led to the killing of tens of millions of people between 1933 and 1945.

We are running the second Cultivator Program. This definitely is a world-first program and we are so excited The investor who backed our first farm (Freeland Pork) has confirmed they are willing to back another farmer, so we are ready to go. The program is for aspiring farmers who want to farm in Victoria only. If you are anywhere else in Australia, we want you to be jealous and talk to all your farming, government and community groups to kick up a stink and fight to get us to do a program in your area. We are ready. The program kicks off in early 2020 but we are making a list of willing farmers - so email sam@cultivatefarms.com if you want to know more.   Requirements: - Know how to run a farm and feel confident to co-own with an investor - Want to farm in Victoria - You can commit time to pulling a farm proposal together (Detailed plan, finances and 2 minute video) - Could pay $4,000 to be part of the program   Summary: Australian agricultural production is set to increase from $60B to $100B by 2030, and the average age of farmers is 59, 20 years older than most industries. 50% of farmers are expected to retire within the next 15 years. $400B in investment dollars needs to be invested in a new generation of young people to take over the farms. If we don't inspire the best to become farmers, our regional communities will continue to decline as our farms become bigger and less family-oriented. Cultivate Farms established the Cultivator program in 2017, a world first farm investment incubator. The first program had 13 participants and a Kyabram free range pig farming couple were backed by an investor in mid 2018 (Freeland Pork). The course has been upgraded and will provide bespoke support to each farmer over 6 months where participants develop a farm pitch which will be presented to an investor. What is exciting is that one farm will be backed by the investor and we expect more investors to sign up along the journey. The best applicant will then build a relationship with the investor over a number of months and once both parties are comfortable with the farm ownership plan, they will seek a farm and purchase it together. All other participants will have a farm pitch document, renewed confidence and the skills to attract investors or convince retiring farmers to transition ownership to them.

There are three state elections scheduled for the coming months and so once again fully inclusive voting processes are under the microscope. With the Victorian poll only days away we bring you a conversation with a representative of that state's electoral commission to learn of accessible voting options for electors with a print disability. Also, a lady with low vision tells of her life and her love of horses. We hear how vision loss has triggered an approach of improvisation and tenacity enabling her to live her passion of horse riding. Program participants are: • Craig Burton, Manager Electronic Voting with the Victorian Electoral Commission; • Candis Hilton, from Kyabram in Northern Victoria.
