Sam Ferrara Interview with CWC

Welcome Friends and thank you for connecting with us for another wonderful episode of CWC!As the kid who has always had the drive and passion for music, from listening to NPR to singing many solos in the school choir, Sam Ferrara has made music a significant part of her life. Beginning with her voice and piano, she quickly realized she had a knack for instruments and learned the clarinet, alto saxophone, and her favorite, bass clarinet - just to name a few. Finding her stride in high school and college, these pieces of her story helped develop her into the musician she is today. Sam is all about impacting and inspiring others. During a low point in her life, a stranger told her to “go and take her life back” and that was just the boost she needed to go after her dreams. Sam hit the ground running, releasing her songs “Whiskey Memory” and “Get Out of My Town (featuring Amanda McCarthy)” in 2022. The sassy and powerful lyrics of those songs encourage her audience to be not only open with how they feel, but to also stand up for themselves. Sam also hopes that her stories will help her audience to understand her personal journey, too. A few memorable career highlights for Sam include performing at venues such as Madison Square Garden, Barclay Center, off-Broadway at Symphony Space and The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in Houston, TX. In addition, Sam also traveled to Europe to perform shows in 2010 and 2012 and has performed at legendary venues like The Cutting Room in New York City, The Bluebird Cafe and The Listening Room in Nashville, TN. She has opened for artists such as Kalie Shorr, Honey Country and Lauren Davidson and she looks forward to growing that list. Her debut album “Piece of Me” was released on July 28, 2023 and is a culmination of the pieces of her journey throughout the last 8 years. Sam feels that the delivery of "Piece of Me" will be the moment where she can finally be seen for who she truly is. This is only the beginning of Sam's story and the best is yet to come!Follow Sam for the latest in Music and More https://www.samferraramusic.com/ --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/crazywomencountry/support

It's another Women's Football Special as John B and Dave are joined by two Clare's, ex-Rangers player Clare Gemmell and Celtic podcaster Clare Wilde of 90 minute Cynic. We review what was a dramatic ending to the SWPL1 title race that were played out at Ibrox and Celtic Park, an incredible statement in itself for the Women's game. In a three-way battle for the title, it looked as though Celtic were about to become Champions for the first time, but Lauren Davidson snatched an injury time winner to wrestle the title from their grasp, and also take the crown back from Rangers who were also in the hunt. It meant that the taxi taking Fiona McIntyre and the trophy to Celtic Park was rerouted to Ibrox, but to hand it to Glasgow City who claimed a 16th title, which is considered their sweetest success. Dave spoke to Leanne Ross and Hayley Lauder at full time to gauge their reaction. The rest of the league season is then rounded off where Hearts made some great strides by finishing fourth, Aberdeen ended a troubled season with the announcement of looking for a full time manager, and there was a battle to avoid the relegation playoff between Dundee United and Hamilton that went to a final day shootout between the two sides. We also speak about the importance of all sides in the league investing to try and close the gap on the big Glasgow three. All thoughts then turn to Hampden for Sunday's Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers. Can Celtic make up for the disappointment of last weekend by retaining the Cup they beat Glasgow City to win this time last year? Can Rangers compensate missing out on Champions League football by adding a first ever Scottish Cup to the Sky Sports League Cup they collected in December? What is certain is that there will be a good crowd heading to the National Stadium for the big game. Gary Morris and Will Reid are back to break down all the highlights from Rangers 3-1 win at Easter Road where James Tavernier stepped up to mark his 400th Rangers appearance with another wonderful free kick goal. Ianis Hagi marked his return from injury hell with an emotional first goal in 16 months, and Todd Cantwell continued his excellent recent form with another goal in front of the travelling Rangers support. Will was also in attendance at Ibrox today for the 4th Official as the Womens Premier League season ended in a tense climax. In the end, Lauren Davidson's 92nd minute winner was enough to see Glasgow City crowned champions for the 16th time, snatching the title away from Celtic, and consigning Rangers to 3rd place in the league, and out of the European places for next season. Again it was a lack of quality in the final third that was Rangers ladies undoing, but Malky Thomson's side at least have a chance to make some amends with an Old Firm Scottish Cup Final on the horizon at Hampden next weekend. Tea with a Titan: Conversations Steeped in Greatness |Achievement | Olympics | Olympians| Success | Athletes | Entrepreneurs

What we cover: “If you want something badly enough, you don’t make sacrifices. You make choices.” – Rhian Wilkinson Today’s Guest Titan chat is a wee bit of a deviation from the norm – and I am so glad about it. Today, I have a guest co-host in the form of 12-year-old Alex Vietch, herself a serious athlete – she’s a track star and a soccer freak, in a good way. She asked me once if I ever were to interview one of the women from Team Canada, if she could maybe come and say hi, but we did one better. When I found out that Rhian Wilkinson, 3-time Olympian and today’s Guest Titan was up for it, I asked Alex if she wouldn’t mind being my co-host. And, because Alex is one of those kids who personifies carpe diem, of course she was in! The impact of women athletes on the positive self-image of young girls and boys – because they too get to see another definition of what it means to be a powerful, strong woman – cannot be understated. To that end, I want to give a shout-out to two of my young friends on the east coast of Canada as well – a big hello to Elle and Lauren Davidson, sisters who themselves are so into the game of soccer in the province of New Brunswick. It was a bit of a coincidence really, on the day I interviewed Rhian – who is the aunt of one of my daughter’s friends – she was on her way back east to run a camp with teammates and today business colleagues within the scope of their incredible enterprise called iS4 -- Christine Sinclair, Karina LeBlanc, Diana Matheson. Well, turns out, one of my oldest and best friends, Alison, had put her two rock star daughters in the camp – and Alison told me that as a mother, she was moved to tears. That our girls are so privileged to have exposure to these resilient, accomplished women – women who teach girls that they are not to be relegated to the sidelines, that to be strong and powerful is the only option, that to work one another – our sisters on the field and off – is a surefire way to build a network and a life of support and love and memories and empowerment. I was so thrilled to have Alex join us for this important conversation. If you are a parent, this is one for the kids too. If you’re going on a road trip, or running errands, have this one on in the car.  MJDionne.com
