What if living your faith authentically could radically transform your life and those around you? That's the bold question we tackle in this episode of the Jamie Luce Podcast. We explore the profound principle that faith without works is dead, urging listeners to align their actions with their beliefs. By examining Romans 11:22, we reflect on God's kindness and severity and the importance of discerning His will in today's culturally confused landscape. We also present five proofs from Romans 12 that encourage a deeper commitment to living out Christian faith in tangible, meaningful ways. Imagine a world where society doesn't distort moral values or suppress religious expression. We address this head-on by comparing the absurdity of unqualified individuals dictating specialized tasks to non-Christians attempting to define Christian practices. Highlighting the erosion of the principle of separation of church and state, we discuss the resulting rebranding of sinful behavior and the importance of maintaining the integrity of Christian beliefs amidst external pressures. This episode is a call to arms for maintaining God's righteousness over societal redefinitions. Struggling with identity, mental health, or addictions? We've got you covered. We emphasize the transformative power of renewing the mind through the Word of God, exploring how true transformation aligns us more closely with Christ. From grappling with same-sex attraction to battling depression and suicidal thoughts, we delve into grounding our thoughts in scripture to live out God's will. By testing and living biblical principles, we can lead lives that are good, acceptable, and perfect in His eyes, proving that faith without action is meaningless. Join us for an episode that not only challenges but inspires a holy, committed Christian life. What do you do if your company asks you to participate in activities that conflict with your values? How can you live out your faith in a secular workplace even if others hold different views? In today's conversation, you'll hear as Holly and I chat with our guest, Dr. Debra Dean. Debra shares her experience of how God called her to leave corporate after 25 years to start a ministry geared towards helping Christians authentically live out their faith. We discuss respectful pluralism and why it's important in the workplace, what to do when you experience conflicting values in your employment, and why it can be challenging for Christians to live out and discuss their faith. In addition, we dive into the need for civil discourse, discussing ‘hot topics' with friends, and how to discern if you're being called out of your corporate role into something different. Hey, friend! Have you ever considered that being an encouragement to someone is a way you can live out your faith? Back in December, I shared three episodes to help you live out your faith with clarity, courage, and consistency. In those episodes, I gave several ideas for living out your faith. This week as I'm recording this episode, I've been reminded that even the small things we do, like saying a word of encouragement to someone, are ways that we live out our faith. Just yesterday, I saw a quote on my friend Kristin's Facebook page that said something like ministry doesn't have to be hard to be holy. I think we sometimes hold the belief that we have to do something big, like serve in a leadership role at church, go on a mission trip, or work in ministry to live out our faith.  But that's not the case at all. We live out our faith in the day-to-day of life through all of the things we think, say, and do. Today I want to share three examples from my life that may inspire you to live out your faith by encouraging others. Let's tackle the tough issue of antisemitism and how you can approach this topic and many others as a 21st-century Christ follower. Don't let your brain avoid thinking about issues that are difficult and challenging to engage. You CAN attempt to understand ideas that make you think deeply. You have a role to play. Kasim and I chat about issues ranging from his former identity as a radical Muslim to his conversion to Christianity, from witnessing now to those of the Islamic faith to challenging that internal dialogue we all have going about our past. Bottom Line: Let's choose 2 think: We are all humans - Let's view people the way God views them (their political positions do not change how God views them, nor should it change yours). Kasim Hafeez is a British citizen of Pakistani Muslim heritage who grew up being exposed to radical Anti-Western, Antisemitic and Anti-Israel ideas on a daily basis. During his teenage years Kasim embraced a radical Islamist ideology and became very active in the anti-Israel movement. Thankfully Alan Dershowitz's book ‘The Case for Israel' challenged Kasim's fundamental beliefs and caused him to undertake a period of research and reflection that led him to Israel in 2007. Witnessing the true nature of the Jewish state changed Kasim's perception of Israel. He felt a moral obligation to publicly speak out for Israel and the dangers of radical Islam. He has spoken all over the world including the 2013 Global Forum on Combatting Antisemitism. Kasim has appeared on radio and television and print media. *CHOOSE 2 THINK: Find Peace, Joy, Hope, Health & Freedom Every Day! Your 365-day DEVOTIONAL. Peek Inside Here. Series: Colossians: Supreme!Title: “How to live out your faith with confidence”Scripture: Colossians 2:6-7, 11-15(Commentary helps listed at the end)Bottom line: Walk boldly in the wake of Christ's victory.Opening story:In Exodus three and four Moses encounters got at the burning bush. After God tells him that he wants him to lead Israel out of slavery in Egypt into freedom and the promised land, Moses comes up with several excuses for why he thinks someone else should do it. And even though God tells him he will be with him and give him all kinds of reasons to obey, Moses ends up just saying please send someone else.If Moses, the great lawgiver of Israel, the most humble man ever to walk the planet, struggles to walk confidently in his faith with God, then it stands to reason that we might struggle with the same thing.Today we will revisit the question that is implied in Colossians 2:6–7 how do we walk confidently with God. How do we walk with confidence in our faith with the Lord Jesus Christ? It's a good question. This question is understandable as well in the face of being uncertain of who do we believe, who do we believe in, and what do we believe about them? These things are addressed in Exodus three and four with Moses and the burning bush. And these things are addressed by Paul in Colossians 2.Transition: Paul states his concern (shared with Epaphras) in 2:4. He then calls them to resist and gives them reasons to resist along with the power to resist. Spoiler alert: It centers on Jesus Christ.Outline: (based on Pace)Bottom line: Walk boldly in the wake of Christ's victory. How do we walk out our faith in God with confidence? We do so by remembering and believing that:I. He circumcised our hearts. (2:11)II. He conquered over death. (2:12-13)III. He canceled our debt. (2:13-14)IV. He condemned the enemy. (2:15)V. He confirmed our victory. (2:15)And that he called us to identify with him in these things. That's a Purpose in baptism.ConclusionBottom line: Walk boldly in the wake of Christ's victory. How do we walk boldly in our faith of God?We remember who it is we believe in.We remember what he did and continue to walk in those things.PrayLord's Supper, 1 Corinthians 11:17-32OtherPace Outline:Bottom line: We must define our identity in Christ so that our words, ways and works reflect who we are in Christ.I. He circumcised our hearts. (2:11)II. He conquered over death. (2:12-13)III. He canceled our debt. (2:13-14)IV. He condemned the enemy. (2:15)V. He confirmed our victory. (2:15)Hughes' outline:I. “In Christ”: His death, burial, and resurrection. (2:11-12)A. DeathB. BurialC. ResurrectionII. “In Christ”: Delivered from bondage. (2:13-15)W.W.II. Colossians 2:11–23 (WEONT): Beware of Religious Legalism (2:11–17)These false teachers had mixed oriental mysticism with Greek philosophy and Jewish legalism—what a mixture! But the flesh loves to be religious, so long as that religion does not have a cross to crucify the flesh. The Colossian believers were involved in Jewish legalism—rituals, diets, holidays, and so on. “You are going out of the sunlight into the shadows!” Paul cries (v. 17). “You are forsaking the reality (Christ's body) for the symbol!” Like the child who admires his father's photo while he ignores his father's presence, so these Christians had turned from the fullness of Christ to the ABCs (“elements”—2:8, 20) of the world. All that we need has been accomplished by Christ on the cross. The circumcision of v. 11 is not His physical circumcision as a child (Luke 2:21), but rather His death on the cross. Just as Christ's water baptism was a symbol of His baptism of suffering on the cross (Luke 12:50), so His circumcision as an infant prefigured His “putting off the body” when He took our sins on Calvary. “Your spiritual circumcision in Christ is far more wonderful than physical rituals!” Paul states. “Why replace Christ with Moses? Why have a physical cutting instead of a spiritual operation on your heart? Circumcision removes a fragment of the flesh from the body, but our identification with Christ puts off the whole fleshly nature.”All of this is made possible through our union with Christ, when the Spirit baptized us into His body. We died with Him, and we are risen with Him. The Old Covenant laws are now set aside; Satan has been completely defeated (v. 15); therefore enjoy the liberty you have in Christ. “Let no man judge you!” Paul urges (v. 16).OTHER ILLUSTRATIONS:As I reflect on Tim Keller's summary of Larry Hurtado's main points in his book, I see a lot of wisdom to help me lead our church going forward.I learned about this article while having lunch with Neal McGlohon. He summarized the o5 points in a slightly different order . Neal shared it this way:1. The early church was multi-racial and experienced a unity across ethnic boundaries that was startling. (Democrat, Progressive concerns)3. The early church was famous for its hospitality to the poor and the suffering. (Democrat, Progressive concerns)2. The early church was a community of forgiveness and reconciliation. (What both sides thinks it's doing when in fact what we see is fighting for power)4. It was a community committed to the sanctity of life. (Republican; conservative concerns)5. It was a sexual counterculture. Having faith often looks different in different seasons of life. And sometimes I have this pattern in my life where I might go a season-a few weeks, a month, maybe even a few months-without going to church. This is embarrassing to admit, but life gets hard. You have babies . . . You get sick . . . Sometimes it's just tough to get there. But every single time I go back to church after one of these seasons, I notice something: I have this mindset that I'm doing it for God. I'm going to be a good Christian. I'm going to go to church. I'm going to get my brownie points. I'm going make God so happy with me because I'm showing up. And every single time I go back, I experience the same feeling: I was there for me. God invites me to church. God invites me into His story and into His plans. Not because He needs me, but for me-because I benefit from it. I don't know if you've ever experienced something similar, but I think it's really common to believe that about anything we do. Whether it's going to church, reading our Bible, praying, or even giving our time, we start to believe the lie that we're doing it for God. But the truth is that it's for us. God is all powerful. He doesn't need you or me. He doesn't need our money, time or talents. He doesn't need anything. He's God! He can move mountains, raise the dead, heal the blind, and part red seas. He can do anything. But He chooses to invite us into His story, and it's for our benefit. I want to give you three things that you can do to live out your faith in different seasons. And as you step into God's plan and God's calling and God's purpose for you, you'll experience the ripple effect in the kingdom and in yourself. You'll be amazed at how He peels away these layers of pride and wounds and selfishness and sin we didn't even know were there. But as long as we have faith and live it out, we're growing to become more like Him. 3 Ways to Live Out Your Faith for Yourself and Others: So, let's talk about three really simple things that you can do to live out your faith for yourself and others. 1. Show up. Matthew 18:20 (NIV) says "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Sometimes the best gift you can give someone is your presence. When God is in you, you can show up and show Him to people just by being present. Your presence is a gift and a ministry to the people in your life. So, just show up. Show up at church. Show up for your friends and family. Show up when someone needs help with their kids. Show up when someone needs a meal. Show up when someone just wants to sit and talk. Just be there for people. 2. Give When you give, God is inviting you to open your hands and hold your life, your time, your talents, your money, your energy, your plans, and your agendas with open hands. I believe God calls us to live a life with this posture with open hands where we can freely give and also freely receive. So, what does that look like for you? Here's what I know: Every time I give, I think I'm doing it for God and others. And every time, it changes me more than it changes them. 3. Pray Did you know that God actually moves on your behalf when you pray? I...
