In his powerful book about navigating life's toughest transitions, George shares his personal stories about the moments he almost took his life, his battle with depression, addictions, and divorce for the first time. Fans of poetry and short stories will find an unexpected aspect to the book that will help them reveal their own truths hidden deep within. After joining the Marine Corps George lost his best friend in the Iraq war. The battle to find out who he was as a man spiraled out of control with addictive behaviors he ignored until he came face to face with death and learned a truth that runs deeper than time – there is nowhere to go, no place to be. The powerful metaphor is a reminder that the past doesn't just walk away from you, and time doesn't heal all wounds. It will follow you everywhere you go until you find the courage to stop running. Through his lifetime, adversity and turmoil strengthened and equipped him with experiences understand the misunderstood and love the unlovable. Michael’s mom passed away when he was in 3rd grade.  His aunt signed paperwork so he could join the Marine Corps. Right out of high school. He has lived through some very tough experiences and had a period where he felt that gave him license to make bad choices and be bad.  He says he had a victim mindset that infected his whole life. He had difficulty with substance use and came very close to taking his own life.  He felt hopeless and isolated. He still works to keep the victim mentality at bay.  He has a plan and people he can call if he’s not feeling well.  His go to people are real and tough but also let him be heard and have empathy.  He also found God and turns there when times are tough. Michael now provides that for others as a Peer Support Specialist for the firefighters he works with. His words of wisdom for others:  process your emotions. Embrace the struggle and then move forward.  Lose the victim mentality. Instead of asking why me ask, what can I learn? When you go for something go all in.  Screw it up with confidence.  Be intentional and learn from your mistakes.

In episode 102 of Dropping Bombs, Brad Lea sits down with Patch Baker of Mobius Media Solutions. Patch Baker has been an entrepreneur since his early 20's. The Marine Corps Combat Veteran has built and sold five companies with a talent for expanding and diversifying client sourcing and revenue streams. Throughout his career, his true passion has always been about the “build” and the “chase” of the next major milestone of growth. To entrepreneurs and business owners seeking out expert assistance, Patch has a message: “If you're telling a consultant what to do, you're doing it wrong. People will pay you to help them, then they want to tell you what to do. When's the last time that you hired a lawyer, then told them how to argue your case?” Want to hear more of Patch's no-nonsense advice? Don't miss this episode of Dropping Bombs! Highlights of what was discussed include: Stop telling people to buy your shit. No one is going to buy. You need to build a RELATIONSHIP with people before you ask them to give you their business. Give away knowledge to build value in what you're talking about. If you're doing that and doing it well, people will listen when you offer your services. If your product is bad, there's nothing advertising can do to build your business! Before you worry about getting attention, worry about what you're going to do when you get the attention. Too many people think about marketing; think about what you're delivering to keep customers coming back.   If Facebook isn't working for you, you're doing it wrong. “None of this is guesswork,” states Patch. “It's important to get the right message to the right person at the right time.” If you're a Veteran interested in working with Mobius Media Solutions, visit their website or Instagram to learn more.

GRP 48- Rest in Peace to Army Special Forces Staff Sgt. Adam S. Thomas, 31, was killed by an improvised explosive device while on foot during an operation against the Islamic State in eastern Afghanistan, defense officials said. I'd like to have everyone send prayers and positive energy to retired Special Missions Unit Major, and author of "Kill Bin Laden" Dalton Fury. The Major is battling through a tough situation and we want him and his family to know that we support him. Back on the podcast is Dan, the owner of Combat Flags. James a Marine Corps Combat Veteran of Iraq, and Mike a Special Forces Green Beret and veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq. We discuss Combat Flags, the careers of James, and Mike during and post-military. Mike works for an organization that fights child sexual exploitation, and James is a full-time Firefighter. We talk combat, PTSD, military specialties, and helping war fighters when they come home. Below is an excerpt from the episode. John: James can you talk about your experiences in the United States Marine Corps? James: I and my friend John joined the Infantry. My friend Alex joined the Combat Engineers. Josh joined Intel. We all got deployed to different units. While I was in training down at 29 Palms I got a Red Cross message and my friend John was killed in action in January 2005 in Iraq. He was in the battle of Fallujah. I was able to get home for his funeral. We deployed to Iraq. Our op tempo was through the roof. Running patrols in and around Haditha Dam. We Ran patrols near the Syrian border. We got called for a High-Value Target. Hit the house and didn't find a thing. The Mosque gave a call for prayer. The hair stood on the back of our necks. Something wasn't right. A round hit right between me and my buddy. We were on the outer cordon team. Headed back to our trucks. Saw a flash to my right and an RPG landed about a foot from where I was standing. I finally came to. I see tracers flying everywhere. I ran behind this pile of rocks. I realized that things didn't feel right. Had a hot piece of metal in my mouth, and I couldn't talk. Tried calling for help. I put my gun up scanning for targets. Our Corpsman ran 100 yards over open grounds to get to me. I tried to get up and when I got up they shot me right in my knee.
