Burnout is a time when a person comes to a place of emotional, mental, and physical exhaustion. Its when you feel you've given all you can and eventually it feels you have no more to give. It can potentially happen anyone, and every person has a different stamina. However we all have limits to what we can cope with and handle. In this episode Mark talks to life coach and burnout expert, Mark Fennell, about the ways in which we can see the signs of burnout approaching, and stop it dead in its tracks, so as to lead a more fulfilled, productive life. KEY TAKEAWAYS COVID and the hangover effects of the new way of working has created a sense of mass disillusionment that's taking its toll on the anxiety levels of the populace. COVID was an invisible threat passed on by people, and the effects of that have lingered. Stress sits in our body and builds unless we relieve it by forcing ourselves to move more. But we also need to see rest time and break time as a time to be valued, and not an inconvenience. There are people who, when they go to relax, actually feel more stressed because they are trying to relax. The tension builds and they enter a phase called "stresslaxing" There is a lot of purpose in fun. We often assume it's just a momentary sensation designed to make us smile, but the benefits of taking time out to have true fun is sorely underused and needs to be encouraged. BEST MOMENTS 'Anxiety is our body's way of reacting to a perceived threat' 'We don't value a break as we see it as inefficient' 'We're always switched on, and that's why when we go on holiday it takes us three days to thaw out' 'We get too serious and we need to inject a whole lot more fun in our lives' RESOURCES FOR THIS EPISODE Mark Fennell Instagram - @markfennell.ie Mark Fennell - https://markfennell.ie/life-skills/12-signs-of-burnout/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Mindset Change Podcast Mindset Coaching and Therapy The Mindset Coach UK Instagram Mindset Change YouTube ABOUT THE HOST Paul Sheppard Paul is well known for his holistic therapy and coaching approach when working with anxiety, stress, confidence, and motivation, understanding, and treating the root causes and surrounding issues He has a passion for understanding how the mind works and has been trained in many therapies.
