This week we have a special quarantine edition Top Ten list, looking at ten of the best euros with built-in solo modes.  But first, we discuss some recent news, including the cancelation of Spiel (we recorded the day before Gen Con canceled, so some dated conversation on this one), and the recently announced Spiel des Jahres nominees for 2020.  In acquisition disorders this week Anthony looks at Musica Chairs from Rio Grande games and Chris looks at the Small World of Warcraft mashup from Days of Wonder.  At the table, Anthony discusses Nemo's War, an epic solo game he finally got a chance to get to the table this last week, and Chris reviews the Steam implementation of Spirit Island.  Finally, in the feature, Anthony Dives into the ten best (plus a few honorable mentions) euros with solo modes built-in.  If you haven’t yet, be sure to connect with us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/boardgamersanonymous), Twitter (http://twitter.com/bgapodcast), and on our website (www.boardgamersanonymous.com). For our last episode before the holiday season, we are happy to bring to you Jason's patented "headspace" reviews for some fun games, as well as a great idea for a last-minute stocking stuffer. First up, Jason reviews Coraline: Beware the Other Mother, a quick and quirky solo/ coop card game with some neat integration of the Coraline movie IP (2:42). Second, Jason covers Nemo Rising (11:45), the cooperative adventure game in a steampunk universe (that happens to have nothing, nothing at all to do with Nemo's War!). Finally, Jason is very happy to welcome Paul Grogan from Gaming Rules back onto the show to discuss the new Adventure Games from Kosmos (19:50). Two modules are released already - Monochrome Inc. and The Dungeon. We get into the story elements, rewarding cleverness, the app companion, and other angles. We also compare the Adventure Games to other escape room games like Exit and Unlock, as well as games like TIME Stories and a few others. Dranbleiben lohnt sich also! Jules Verne published Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea in 1870. Dan Quisenberry lead the American League in Saves five times. Nemo, the main character in Verne's novel, was the captain of the Nautilus, a submarine. The Nautilus exercise equipment company was founded in 1986. Quisenberry, a submarine style relief pitcher, won a World Series in 1985, and may have used a Nautilus machine for strength training later in his career. Somehow, neither Verne or Quisenberry are with us today. Coincidence? Well, we can't be sure, but we do know that this episode covers board games based on material from both men's careers. Maybe you can solve the mystery, or at least enjoy the episode. This is an episode I've been wanting to do for a while, where I do pretty in depth about playing solo boardgames. After a quick introduction, I get right into a discussion about the role that playing boardgames alone serves and answer some challenges and questions about it. Then I launch into a list of boardgames I've played solo before, and finish with reviews of six solitaire boardgames: Levee en Masse, We Must Tell the Emperor, Zulus on the Ramparts!, If I'm Going Down..., Nemo's War, and Friday.
