note from the archivist: Jimmy did not write episode notes for the remaining episodes, however in this case Reid wrote, "On this episode we explore the strange & winding tale of Belita Adair. From musical medium & child prodigy to Puharich test subject to Satanic black metal artist, we trace her life from Ojai, CA to Ossining, NY. [originally published on Patreon Today's all about Edward Bulwer-Lytton, whose works are very unique. His writing was incredibly popular and full of high strangeness, if not outright occult themes. In this episode, I talk about The Last Days of Pompeii, Zanoni, and Vril: the Power of the Coming Race. I also discuss the Morning of the Magicians, a curious work by some French journalists that discusses (among other things) esoteric Nazism and how it intersects with Vril. I also talk about Willy Ley, an interesting German science fiction author. To wrap it up, I examine Bulwer-Lytton's family and political legacy, and that of his children. Milner, Rhodes, and the RIIA come up, and so do the British Theosophical networks in India and Germany. Then I confront the Dope Inc. thesis that there was a "cult of Isis" that British elites sought to foster. songs: Flaming Lips - "In the Morning of the Magicians" Brahmastra - "The Vril Society" (btw after recording it was later verified that Brahmastra is NSBM which is bad but it was too specific not to use)

Today we're sharing a special bonus episode from the Jordan Harbinger Show. Check out all things Jordan, including his helpful episode starter packs, on his website. We think NSBM listeners will be especially fascinated by his episodes on con artists and abnormal psychology. Our new season “Making Sense of Maya” drops NEXT WEEK! Andrea and Jordan discuss: · Munchausen syndrome by proxy (aka factitious disorder imposed on another): a form of medical child abuse where parents or caregivers fake or exaggerate their child's health problems for personal gain. · How the widespread availability of medical information online, social media platforms, and crowdfunding has broadened the spectrum of people engaging in medical child abuse beyond professionals in the healthcare field. · What the long-term psychological toll looks like for children who survive such abuse and how they struggle to discern the truth as they grow older. · Why prosecution of medical child abuse cases is difficult when family courts may not thoroughly examine medical records and even accept a guilty parent or caregiver's word as fact. · How we can keep an eye out for signs of medical child abuse, and who we should contact if we suspect the worst. · And much more… Produced by Larj Media Follow host Andrea Dunlop on Instagram for behind-the-scenes photos: @andreadunlop Buy Andrea's books here. It's been a little bit and your plaintive cries for content have carried on the wind, so here you go: a gargantuan old-style Terminus episode with 4 big records and nearly 3 hours of dense, autistic discussion thereof. This one is most certainly For The Boys, featuring 4 bands well known to fans of the show, with a selection of styles so expansive you're certain to find a new favorite in the bunch. Opening volley: the return of PASSEISME PASSEISME ARE BACK GUYS! With their first record a huge hit among Terminators in 2021, it's no surprise that they're back with their sophomore release, which manages to actually top the first but in a wildly unpredictable way. Eschewing much of the catchiest and most immediate material which defined the first record, "Alternance" is an album that seeks deeper and more difficult musical expression, with higher contrast in mood, technique, and presentation. It's Passeisme. You know you want it. Easy call for AOTY. Next up is Sammath, the primary project of Jan Kruitwagen, whose project Kaeck we covered and thoroughly enjoyed in 2021. Sammath represents one of the few remaining torches carried in the name of the much-benighted Norsecore style, with a veritable river of blast beats and crushing, atonal power chord riffs defining this as a sort of alternate universe take on war metal. It's absurdly heavy and brutal and would most certainly work as a black metal record for death metal fans, but beneath the obvious animosity and extremity lurks a tremendous appreciation for moments in the second wave long forgotten. Our second half opens with the return of Reverorum ib Malacht with "Vacuum," an album first released in 2022 but only just now given a physical edition. Fans of this band know the score: mind-melting industrial black metal with its own bizarre internal logic w/r/t song construction, but "Vacuum" takes it even further by functioning primarily as a tech death record (!) first and foremost. This is a challenging record within RiM's already challenging discography, and what ensues is a great conversation about the band's goals with this album, which are just about as academic as you're ever going to hear on our show. Finally we arrive at Kaevum's "Kultur," the long-awaited followup full length to 2011's "Natur." A well appreciated sleeper hit amongst Terminators as well as the broader black metal community, that record was defined by intensity and clarity of form. So what of "Kultur?" Well, there's some pretty big surprises in store- namely, that this is primarily a DSBM record. Join us as we go down the rabbit hole tracing the oddly intertwined lineage of NSBM and DSBM as we attempt to uncover the music's relationship with its theme (and listen to some of the coolest riffs of 2023 too.) 0:00:00 - Intro 0:01:53 - Passeisme - Alternance (Antiq) 0:49:03 - Sammath - Grebbeberg (Hammerheart Records) 01:29:39 - Interlude - Niden Div. 187 - “Funeral Pyres” fr.
Vyšlo 20. album King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, takže pravidelní posluchači tuší, o čem jsme mluvili pěkně dlouho. Reportů je hodně, proto je řadíme na konec a předtím si dáme několik zajímavých i nezajímavých alb. Olaf přináší mnoho reportů z underdogs', kde tráví poslední týdny a Ziky naopak prošel klubů několik. Pusť to!

Eat shit, Chris Jericho. We’re also in stitches with the Satanic Warmaster furry’s plea for social justice in the wake of Metal Archives accurately describing his label as “NSBM”. Finally, UADA wrote a novel about radical centrism and it is exhausting. Tune in for the laffs, stay for the graphic descriptions of bikers swinging in piles of their own sick. On this edition of Parallax Views, black metal, with it's Satanic lyrics, blasphemous imagery, and history of bands engaging in acts like church burnings and even murder, has cemented itself as the most extreme and transgressive genres in the varied world of heavy metal. And, perhaps due to it's deliberately confrontational nature and explicit anti-social aesthetic, black metal also happens to be a genre infested with out-and-out Nazis and white supremacist who openly rail against immigrants, Jews, and other common targets of far-right wing hate and bigotry. The most famous of these is, without a doubt Varg Vikernes, who, through his project Burzum, became one of the most seminal (and deadly) key players within 90s Norwegian black metal. Since then an entire genre of black metal has arisen known as NSBM, or National Socialist Black Metal. And now there is a new phenomena of NSBM arising, in a strange twist, out of Latin America that can only accurately be described as "Aztec Nazi Black Metal".Returning guest and writer Alex Gendler joins us to discuss his article "Aryan Aztlán: The Bizarre World of Aztec Nazi Black Metal" for the newly relaunched No Recess magazine. Alex takes us into the unusual new music phenomena and argues that, although its appearance may seem out of left field at first glance, is not as surprising as one may initially think. All that and more on this edition of Parallax Views. SUPPORT PARALLAX VIEWSON PATREON! FORBONUS CONTENTANDARCHIVED EPISODES!
For some reason we started this episode talking about Dustin Hoffman. Then we got into company xmas party talk. BUT THEN we discussed the news stories we didn't get a chance to talk about throughout the year. FIRST UP: a definitely official cease and desist letter from an artist that maaaaay have accidentally drawn a 1930's era anti-semitic album cover. Dragged Into Sunlight called out their label, Prosthetic Records, over refusing to pay the band royalties. This somehow didn't make the news splash it should have and we ask why. Also, we ask what it's like to be cash poor but clout rich. Sear Bliss dropped off Asgardsrei, an overt NSBM festival, claiming that they're apolitical. How tf did they get added to that bill in the first place? / A timeout for Hunter Biden boys chat / Tripp Eisen (Static X, Dope, California Prison for pedophilia) has a new libertarian themed industrial metal band and LOOOOOOOOOOOOL. And finally, we meet our favorite new character in the metalverse: James Kottak, former drummer for Scorpions. If you listen to nothing else on this episode, PLEASE enjoy meeting our new friend James. Music featured on this episode: Carcass – Under the Scalpel Blade Have something you wanna say to us? FlightOfIcarus and Chris Dahlberg discuss the new album from French black metal group Deathspell Omega. We talk about both the music and controversy stemming from the lyrics and history of vocalist Mikko Aspa (whose name I repeatedly mispronounce here, as well as Horna, for that matter). To be clear, this discussion is not meant to excuse bad behavior, but rather analyze the situation for what it is and put some additional perspective to it. On this episode of The Critical Hour, Dr. Wilmer Leon is joined is by Lee Stranahan, co-host of Fault Lines on Sputnik Radio; Jim Kavanagh, political analyst, commentator, and editor of The Polemicist; and Caleb Maupin, journalist focusing on US foreign policy, capitalism, and imperialism. It's Friday, so that means it's panel time.British police entered the Ecuadorian Embassy in London early Thursday, forcibly removing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on a 2012 charge of failing to surrender to the court. Later that day, he was found guilty of that charge at the Westminster Magistrates' Court. Now the real battle ensues: will he be extradited to the US, bringing his seven-year stint in the embassy to a dramatic close? Assange entered the embassy June 19, 2012, to avoid extradition to Sweden over a sexual assault case that has since been dropped and remained there in exile for six years, nine months and 24 days, or 2,488 days from start to end. What's been going on in London around this issue? It was two days of questions for US Attorney General William Barr. With the Russia investigation complete, Barr said he was preparing to review “both the genesis and the conduct of intelligence activities directed at the Trump campaign,” including possible improper “spying” by American intelligence agencies. Is this really news, or is it more political theater? Should we be concerned that the FBI and or other intelligence agencies in this country opened an intelligence investigation into a US presidential candidate? With all votes counted, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's fifth election win is confirmed. After a full day of rechecking, Likud gained a seat to outscore Benny Gantz's Blue and White alliance, 36-35, United Torah Judaism lost a seat, and Netanyahu's path to a majority coalition is clear. Netanyahu was confirmed as the big winner of Israel's general elections on Thursday night, when the Central Elections Committee published the completed tallies of Tuesday's election, a full 60 hours after the polling stations closed. Israeli voters “have said no to peace and yes to the occupation,” Saeb Erekat, the chief Palestinian negotiator, said Tuesday night. Thanks to enthusiastic support from the Trump administration, Netanyahu has been emboldened to pursue right-wing policies — he now says that if he wins, he will annex the West Bank, home to around 2.5 million Palestinians. Gantz called this pledge “irresponsible.” While many observers brushed it off as campaign rhetoric, the Trump administration's unwavering support makes this a real possibility, believes Jake Walles, who served as US consul general in Jerusalem from 2005 to 2009 and is now a fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.Holden Matthews, the 21-year-old man accused of burning three historically black churches in Louisiana, was influenced by “black metal,” police say – a music genre sometimes tied to organized hate. Matthews engaged in a conversation about Varg Vikernes on Facebook. Vikernes is a musician who is linked intimately to National Socialist Black Metal (NSBM), a subgenre within black metal that is explicitly racist and fascist in nature. Vikernes, who is Norwegian and founded the band Burzum, burned down three historically significant churches in his homeland during the 1990s. He also murdered a guitarist for the black metal band Mayhem. From prison, Vikernes expressed views closely aligned with neo-Nazism, even though he objected to that term. Anders Breivik, the Norwegian far-right terrorist who murdered 77 people, including children, during a 2011 rampage, mailed Vikernes his manifesto before his arrest. In a 2012 blog post, Vikernes took issue with Breivik's methods and wrote that Breivik should kill himself, and argued there were more constructive ways to deal with “internationalists lead [sic] by their Jewish masters.” Matthews, the son of a Louisiana sheriff's deputy, is in St. Landry Parish jail. He's charged with three counts of simple arson of a religious building. The churches Matthews allegedly burned were the St. Mary Baptist Church in Port Barre, the Greater Union Baptist Church in Opelousas and the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Opelousas. The fires occurred on March 26, April 2 and April 4. It is unclear if Matthews allegedly chose the churches because of their connection to the black community.GUESTS:Lee Stranahan — Co-host of Fault Lines on Sputnik Radio. This week we talk mainly about Woe's show in Hamburg being cancelled due to them sharing a stage with Inquisition, who organizers think is NSBM. That's a cool discussion, but for those of you who just want the news, I guess we have some stuff along those lines as well. New music and stuff from Exist, Suffocation, Dragonforce, Shadow of Intent, Jamiroquai, Artificial Brain, Tombs, Bestia Arcana. Also the mini-feud between ESP guitars and Linkin Park, and hologram Ronnie James Dio being a thing. Also the new Sikth album. Then cool people time on a bunch of TV and movie stuff. Prison Break, Ryan Reynolds, Cillian Murphy and more.
