What sounds or feelings did you draw upon when gathering inspiration for this mix, and what listening environments could you imagine it being best enjoyed in? A. My inspiration was driven by the urge to showcase lots of artists who have been on heavy rotation over the years. Somewhat cliche, but it was really important to blend genres and energies that represented every aspect of what I listen to, am inspired by alongside how and when they were experienced. Tracks I've loved listening to on my own, while entertaining friends, during lock in record nights and those tracks designed to be shared in public spaces and events. Finding a cohesive path through those different styles, genres and energies was the adventure in this mix. Distilling a sonic mountain of records into something that flowed seamlessly and translated well when listening back in all of those moments felt most authentic. A mix best consumed while moving, sharpening that assignment, at the tail end of a dinner party as the vibe shifts to next gear or while embracing the magic of a lock in with the crew. This has translated into snapshots, across a timeline stitched together from records new and old, capturing a weekend drive, early floors through to closed doors, spilling onto the street, the afterhours and beyond. Almost two and a half hours of ambient ear candy, arm chair burners, peak melters and thought provokers that attempt to relive moments and feelings from our past years listening, curating and creating electronic music. Q. I know you've developed a close kinship with some modern pillars of the dub techno scene, mastering and editing .VRIL's 2025 Edit of his classic tune ‘UV' and being tasked with closing out his recent Melbourne show. Tell us how that connection came about, and what other studio projects have you got bubbling away that you're excited to share? A. I first reached out to .Vril ahead of a past tour to Australia. His music resonated with me so much that I wanted to meet him for a coffee. Since then, we've hung out a few times, shared music, and bounced some tracks off each other. It was an absolute highlight, when he asked to be a part of reshaping ‘UV' and he's kindly returned serve with a remix for my follow up EP, 'Modern Explorer II' on local imprint Denude. We've had some very early conversations around a collaboration next time he's out here and I would really like to continue pushing creativity here. In the background, I've been spending a good amount of time in my studio. Focusing on creating for myself and helping others. Improving my abilities as a mix engineer has been a big focus and I've been fortunate enough to work on a number projects with artists locally and abroad. Whether that be mixing, providing creative direction, arrangement work or mastering. I really love working with others and often find it more enjoyable than working alone. In saying that, I'm building a volume of new music that needs an outlet and will focus on that over the next few months.

World leaders from Ukraine to Germany, the UK, France, and the U.S., are being caught with drugs of one sort or another. From cocaine to the recent report that Elon Musk, though he denies it, was nearly overdosing on ketamine, adderall, ecstasy and psychedelics during the campaign trail and after. The same has been reported of the WEF at Davos, people obsessed with magic mushrooms and hookers. Beyond the obvious motif of wealthy people splurging on carnal delights, there may be something darker at work, especially when considering that for years there has been speculation that the UN's own Meditation Room was actually a space for channeling sessions with spirits. The lore of Vril, dating to before WWII, involves a psychic energy used by an alien race - in occult lore the Vril were a society contacting aliens and spirits to obtain assistance in technological development. The term was originally coined by Edward Bulwer-Lytton in his 1871 novel ‘The Coming Race'. The techno-term “algorithm,” based on Persian mathematics, is itself connected to the Demon Star ALGOL, also known as a Demon's Eye. This “eye” plays a significant role in both fiction and modern technology. Since 2025 began we have seen the full scale implementation of STARGATE, a program to develop gene-altering cancer shots (preceding the HHS-NIH announcement of universal flu and covid shots), and now recent contracts signed by PALANTIR by the Trump administration to create an all-knowing database of information on more than just American citizens. Itself followed up by a $795-million contract between the DOD and Palantir. STARGATE involves, of peculiar interest, OpenAI (to open an eye), Oracle (a prophet who can see beyond time), and Nvidia (the evil eye). The first company is run by Sam Altman, whose name means in Hebrew “name of the old God,” and Samael (the Talmudic archangel of seduction, accusation, and destruction) ‘altering-man'; whose recent announcement involves a device called ORB that verifies humans via iris scans and then gives them a WORLD ID / DIGITAL PASSPORT, WORLDCOIN GLOBAL CURRENCY, and UBI or Universal Basic Income; the scan verifies human-carbon, i.e., 666. The second company is run by Larry Ellison, whose name means in Hebrew “light of my God Yahweh,” or “victory of the son of Elohim.” The third company is named after the seven deadly sins and the poison of the evil eye. PALANTIR was officially established by a guy “obsessed with warding of death... with a young person's blood,” Peter Thiel, whose name means “stone of the valley/below/abyss.” Alongside these technocrats are Yuval Harari, whose name means in Hebrew “streaming from the mountain,” and Elon Musk, whose X-AI, GROK, is named after a fictional martian language that means to “understand deeply,” from Robert Heinlein's ‘Stranger in a Strange Land'; its logo is the planet Saturn, god of time. Elon is also the name of a technologically advanced alien leader on the martian planet in the book ‘Mars: A Technical Tale', written by NASA father Wernher Von Braun. PALANTIR itself is named after palantír from Lord of the Rings (Saturn), a seeing-stone-crystal sphere used for communication and intelligence gathering. It is also where the Eye of Sauron was able to keep his eye on Middle Earth. Thiel is also co-founder of Rivendell 7 and Mithril Capital, both named after LOTR, the latter of which is a mythical elvish city. This is the same Thiel who fueled the rise of JD Vance into the White House, the now VP to POTUS Trump who just signed a deal with PALANTIR and who is assisting in pushing Musk's electric cars. Altman, Ellison, Harari, even Elon Musk “aspirationally,” are Jewish, with questions about Thiel's actual background speculated upon. The same is true for Larry Fink of BLACKROCK, Stephen Schwarzman of BLACKSTONE, Dan Zorella and Avi Yanus of BLACK CUBE, and even the general BLACKBOX AI that nobody seems able to comprehend even if they helped build it - Ellison says it is mostly coming from Israel and Tel Aviv. This is the same black cube that Jews wear and Muslims walk around, with black stone, in their holy city. PALANTIR'S history is peculiar too, not just its name. Peter Thiel started the company officially soon after 911 by using PayPal security algorithms. It was founded in May 2003, the same month and year that the US Information Awareness Office and DARPA renamed their Total Information Awareness program to Terrorism Information Awareness, and a few months before in September Congress pulled funding. The blueprint for this post-911 world, PNAC, was written by William Kristol and Robert Kagan, and the Patriot Act was co-authored by Michael Chertoff, former homeland security head, who helped sell body scanners to airports. All three of these men are jewish. As for PALANTIR, besides Thiel, Alex Karp and Stephen Cohen are major jewish founders alongside Joe Lonsdale and Nathan Gettings, the former of which had one of the least official roles. According to the Electronic Privacy Information Center writing about TIA: “Congress eliminated funding for the controversial project and closed the Pentagon's Information Awareness Office, which had developed TIA. This does not, however, necessarily signal the end of other government data-mining initiatives that are similar to TIA.”What was a DARPA-CIA-NSA-USIAO plan to “track individuals through collecting as much information about them as possible and using computer algorithms and human analysis to detect potential activity,” suddenly became PALANTIR unofficially, even though both the NSA and PALANTIR both ran a PRISM program - a program we learned about from Edward Snowden in June 2013, just 3 months before Katy Perry released her first “dark” album called PRISM. The goal of PRISM was to retrieve data directly from Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, and Apple. And what is a prism but a three-dimensional solid shape; a polyhedron like a cube; a glass device that breaks down white light.Beyond data acquisition, the goal was techno-super-natural: “understand and even preempt' future action,” wrote the New York Times. The NYT reported that conveniently PALANTIR “secured an estimated $2 million from In-Q-Tel, a venture-capital firm that finances the development of technologies that can help the C.I.A.” That's the same In-Q-Tel where, at one of their conferences, David Petraeus, former CIA director, said that the Internet of PCs and Things “are learning to perceive - to actually sense and respond.” Soon after we saw the emergence of Q-Anon, a Self Organizing Collective Intelligence, which today with AI-models trained on human data, are convincing people they are unlocking the secrets and conspiracies of the universe and becoming prophets. Fact-checking can't keep up, and trust in institutions is fading. If reality is up for debate, where does that leave us?I wanted to explore this idea of “post-truth” and ways to move beyond it — not by enforcing truth from the top down, but by engaging in inquiry and open dialogue. I examine how truth doesn't have to be imposed but continually rediscovered — shaped through questioning, testing, and refining what we know. If nothing feels certain, how do we rebuild trust in the process of knowing something is true?THE SLOW SLIDE OF FACTUAL FOUNDATIONSThe term "post-truth" was first popularized in the 1990s but took off in 2016. That's when Oxford Dictionaries named it their Word of the Year. Defined as “circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief”, the term reflects a shift in how truth functions in public discourse.Though the concept of truth manipulation is not new, post-truth represents a systemic weakening of shared standards for knowledge-making. Sadly, truth in the eyes of most of the public is no longer determined by factual verification but by ideological alignment and emotional resonance.The erosion of truth infrastructure — once upheld by journalism, education, and government — has destabilized knowledge credibility. Mid-20th-century institutions like The New York Times and the National Science Foundation ensured rigorous verification. But with rising political polarization, digital misinformation, and distrust in authority, these institutions have lost their stabilizing role, leaving truth increasingly contested rather than collectively affirmed.The mid-20th century exposed truth's fragility as propaganda reshaped public perception. Nazi ideology co-opted esoteric myths like the Vril Society, a fictitious occult group inspired by the 1871 novel The Coming Race, which depicted a subterranean master race wielding a powerful life force called "Vril." This myth fed into Nazi racial ideology and SS occult research, prioritizing myth over fact. Later, as German aviation advanced, the Vril myth evolved into UFO conspiracies, claiming secret Nazi technologies stemmed from extraterrestrial contact and Vril energy, fueling rumors of hidden Antarctic bases and breakaway civilizations.Distorted truths have long justified extreme political action, demonstrating how knowledge control sustains authoritarianism. Australian philosophy professor, Catherine (Cathy) Legg highlights how intellectual and cultural shifts led universities to question their neutrality, reinforcing postmodern critiques that foreground subjectivity, discourse, and power in shaping truth. Over time, this skepticism extended beyond academia, challenging whether any authority could claim objectivity without reinforcing existing power structures.These efforts to deconstruct dominant narratives unintentionally legitimized radical relativism — the idea that all truths hold equal weight, regardless of evidence or logic. This opened the door for "alternative facts", now weaponized by propaganda. What began as a challenge to authoritarian knowledge structures within academia escaped its origins, eroding shared standards of truth. In the post-truth era, misinformation, ideological mythmaking, and conspiracy theories thrive by rejecting objective verification altogether.Historian Naomi Oreskes describes "merchants of doubt" as corporate and political actors who manufacture uncertainty to obstruct policy and sustain truth relativism. By falsely equating expertise with opinion, they create the illusion of debate, delaying action on climate change, public health, and social inequities while eroding trust in science. In this landscape, any opinion can masquerade as fact, undermining those who dedicate their lives to truth-seeking.PIXELS AND MYTHOLOGY SHAPE THE GEOGRAPHYThe erosion of truth infrastructures has accelerated with digital media, which both globalizes misinformation and reinforces localized silos of belief. This was evident during COVID-19, where false claims — such as vaccine microchips — spread widely but took deeper root in communities with preexisting distrust in institutions. While research confirms that misinformation spreads faster than facts, it's still unclear if algorithmic amplification or deeper socio-political distrust are root causes.This ideological shift is strongest in Eastern Europe and parts of the U.S., where institutional distrust and digital subcultures fuel esoteric nationalism. Post-Soviet propaganda, economic instability, and geopolitical tensions have revived alternative knowledge systems in Russia, Poland, and the Balkans, from Slavic paganism to the return of the Vril myth, now fused with the Save Europe movement — a digital blend of racial mysticism, ethnic nostalgia, and reactionary politics.Above ☝️is a compilation of TikTok videos currently being pushed to my 21 year old son. They fuse ordinary, common, and recognizable pop culture imagery with Vril imagery (like UFO's and stealth bombers) and esoteric racist nationalism, religious fundamentalism, and hyper-masculine mythologies. A similar trend appears in post-industrial and rural America, where economic decline, government distrust, and cultural divides sustain conspiratorial thinking, religious fundamentalism, and hyper-masculine mythologies. The alt-right manosphere mirrors Eastern Europe's Vril revival, with figures like Zyzz and Bronze Age Pervert offering visions of lost strength. Both Vril and Save Europe frame empowerment as a return to ethnic or esoteric power (Vril) or militant resistance to diversity (Save Europe), turning myth into a tool of political radicalization.Climate change denial follows these localized patterns, where scientific consensus clashes with economic and cultural narratives. While misinformation spreads globally, belief adoption varies, shaped by economic hardship, institutional trust, and political identity.In coal regions like Appalachia and Poland, skepticism stems from economic survival, with climate policies seen as elitist attacks on jobs. In rural Australia, extreme weather fuels conspiracies about government overreach rather than shifting attitudes toward climate action. Meanwhile, in coastal Louisiana and the Netherlands, where climate impacts are immediate and undeniable, denial is rarer, though myths persist, often deflecting blame from human causes.Just as Vril revivalism, Save Europe, and the MAGA manosphere thrive on post-industrial uncertainty, climate misinformation can also flourish in economically vulnerable regions. Digital platforms fuel a worldview skewed, where scrolling myths and beliefs are spatially glued — a twisted take on 'think globally, act locally,' where fantasy folklore becomes fervent ideology.FINDING TRUTH WITH FRACTURED FACTS…AND FRIENDSThe post-truth era has reshaped how we think about knowledge. The challenge isn't just misinformation but growing distrust in expertise, institutions, and shared reality. In classrooms and research, traditional ways of proving truth often fail when personal belief outweighs evidence. Scholars and educators now seek new ways to communicate knowledge, moving beyond rigid certainty or radical relativism.Professor Legg has turned to the work of 19th-century American philosopher Charles Sanders Peirce, whose ideas about truth feel surprisingly relevant today. Peirce didn't see truth as something fixed or final but as a process — something we work toward through questioning, testing, and refining our understanding over time.His approach, known as pragmatism, emphasizes collaborative inquiry, self-correction, and fallibilism — the idea that no belief is ever beyond revision. In a time when facts are constantly challenged, Peirce's philosophy offers not just a theory of truth, but a process for rebuilding trust in knowledge itself.For those unfamiliar with Peirce and American pragmatism, a process that requires collaborating with truth deniers may seem not only unfun, but counterproductive. But research on deradicalization strategies suggests that confrontational debunking (a failed strategy Democrats continue to adhere to) often backfires. Lecturing skeptics only reinforces belief entrenchment.In the early 1700's Britain was embroiled in the War of Spanish Succession. Political factions spread blatant falsehoods through partisan newspapers. It prompted Jonathan Swift, the author of Gulliver's Travels, to observe in The Art of Political Lying (1710) that"Reasoning will never make a man correct an ill opinion, which by reasoning he never acquired."This is likely where we get the more familiar saying: you can't argue someone out of a belief they didn't reason themselves into. Swift's critique of propaganda and public gullibility foreshadowed modern research on cognitive bias. People rarely abandon deeply held beliefs when confronted with facts.Traditionally, truth is seen as either objectively discoverable (classical empiricism) — like physics — or constructed by discourse and power (postmodernism) — like the Lost Cause myth, which recast the Confederacy as noble rather than pro-slavery. It should be noted that traditional truth also comes about by paying for it. Scientific funding from private sources often dictates which research is legitimized. As Legg observes,“Ironically, such epistemic assurance perhaps rendered educated folk in the modern era overly gullible to the written word as authority, and the resulting ‘fetishisation' of texts in the education sector has arguably led to some of our current problems.”Peirce, however, offered a different path:truth is not a fixed thing, but an eventual process of consensus reached by a community of inquirers.It turns out open-ended dialogue that challenges inconsistencies within a belief system is shown to be a more effective strategy.This process requires time, scrutiny, and open dialogue. None of which are very popular these days! It should be no surprise that in today's fractured knowledge-making landscape of passive acceptance of authority or unchecked personal belief, ideological silos reinforce institutional dogma or blatant misinformation. But Peirce's ‘community of inquiry' model suggests that truth can't be lectured or bought but strengthened through collective reasoning and self-correction.Legg embraces this model because it directly addresses why knowledge crises emerge and how they can be countered. The digital age has resulted in a world where beliefs are reinforced within isolated networks rather than tested against broader inquiry. Trump or Musk can tweet fake news and it spreads to millions around the world instantaneously.During Trump's 2016 campaign, false claims that Pope Francis endorsed him spread faster than legitimate news. Misinformation, revisionist history, and esoteric nationalism thrive in these unchecked spaces.Legg's approach to critical thinking education follows Peirce's philosophy of inquiry. She helps students see knowledge not as fixed truths but as a network of interwoven, evolving understandings — what Peirce called an epistemic cable made up of many small but interconnected fibers. Rather than viewing the flood of online information as overwhelming or deceptive, she encourages students to see it as a resource to be navigated with the right tools and the right intent.To make this practical, she introduces fact-checking strategies used by professionals, teaching students to ask three key questions when evaluating an online source:* Who is behind this information? (Identifying the author's credibility and possible biases)* What is the evidence for their claims? (Assessing whether their argument is supported by verifiable facts)* What do other sources say about these claims? (Cross-referencing to see if the information holds up in a broader context)By practicing these habits, students learn to engage critically with digital content. It strengthens their ability to distinguish reliable knowledge from misinformation rather than simply memorizing facts. It also meets them where they are without judgement of whatever beliefs they may hold at the time of inquiry.If post-truth misinformation reflects a shift in how we construct knowledge, can we ever return to a shared trust in truth — or even a shared reality? As institutional trust erodes, fueled by academic relativism, digital misinformation, and ideological silos, myths like climate denial and Vril revivalism take hold where skepticism runs deep. Digital platforms don't just spread misinformation; they shape belief systems, reinforcing global echo chambers.But is truth lost, or just contested? Peirce saw truth as a process, built through inquiry and self-correction. Legg extends this, arguing that fact-checking alone won't solve post-truth; instead, we need a culture of questioning — where people test their own beliefs rather than being told what's right or wrong.I won't pretend to have the answer. You can tell by my bibliography that I'm a fan of classical empiricism. But I'm also a pragmatic interactionist who believes knowledge is refined through collaborative inquiry. I believe, as Legg does, that to move beyond post-truth isn't about the impossible mission of defeating misinformation — it's about making truth-seeking more compelling than belief. Italy born producer and modular synthesist David Castellani is an aficionado in all things modular with a focus on driving, contemporary techno. His sound, fuelled by an array of analog hardware, showcases the intricate aspects of modern music production, while staying true to the fundamentals. Having formerly cut his teeth in a DJ/Producer duo, David has already built a category of healthy releases, collaborations and remixes, while sharing the decks with industry heavies including Nastia, Mark Broom, Dense & Pika & Vril, to name a few. Now based in LA by way of Chicago, Castellani launched his record label Noetic in 2021, cultivating smart & dynamic techno with a focus on synthesizers and analog hardware. The label has curated eleven releases from Castellani so far, featuring remixes from Redshape, Matrixxman, Voiski & Etapp Kyle. Castellani's journey in music has been marked by two guiding principles – passion and learning, including exploration of world cultures. He uses the didgeridoo, part of ancient First Nation Australian culture which he respectfully acknowledges, in his live sets. He was taught drums by respected Afro Cuban percussionist Juma Santos, who featured on the legendary Miles Davis album ‘Bitches Brew'. The experience of working with Santos has stayed with him till this day. “It was one of the most vivid memories of my youth. We just spent hours playing drums together and then we'd indulge in some cannabis while Juma would share stories about hanging out with Miles Davis in the 70's. I was about 17 and remember travelling home, thinking how excited I was to start this new journey in music. And most of all, this helped me understand the value of education via a proper teacher within music.” Castellani would go on to be an educator himself, thriving as a teacher at Chicago's respected Columbia College, where he'd teach for almost a decade. His passion for educating is something that stays with him till this day, involved in running modular synth workshops in LA in collaboration with the RE/FORM crew, with whom he holds a residency. He also volunteers with the Jazz Angels, an outreach program that sees him go into schools and help children record and learn about music. His passion and curiosity for all things learning, creativity and technological development has seen him create his own sequencer module, the Precision Disrupter. His background in graphic design also sees a collaboration with clothing brand After Infinite, responsible for designing all their rave wear garments. A magnetic live performer, recent highlights include a special 360-degree audio-visual performance in LA alongside Colin Benders and ONYVAA; a coveted spot playing Chicago's Arc Festival and the release of his collaborative project ‘Hysteria Dichotic' with AnnMarie Arcuri, which combined techno, contemporary dance, modular synthesis and film. The first one was in 2018 When he witnessed a black triangle-like object while at a train station, then his second in 2022 where he witnessed bright lights while flying over the Grand Canyon.
