The recording contains the ambience at "Kjærlighetsstien" at Utøya, close to Oslo, in the morning of 22nd July 2022. Utøya was the site where mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik massacered 69 young people on July 22nd, 2011, exactly 11 years earlier. At "Kjærlighetsstien" 11 youth tried to hide and play dead, but were discovered and shot by Breivik, only a single survivor. The sound of the waves, forest, birds etc. is the same while recording as it was during the shooting 11 years before, minus the cries of pain and panic and shots. Recorded by Anders Vinjar.

Hun bar lenge på en stor og mørk hemmelighet. Hun stjal og misbrukte medisiner fra avdelingen hvor hun jobbet som sykepleier, for å dempe en uro og en smerte hun hadde kjent på i mange år.  Hun husker skammen første gang hun stjal medisiner, og tenkte at hun aldri skulle gjøre det igjen. Likevel fortsatte det, og hun overbeviste seg selv om at det ikke ville bli oppdaget.   Da det endelig skjedde, falt livet hennes i grus. Hun mistet autorisasjonen som sykepleier, og gikk inn i sin største livskrise. Terroristen som skjuter heter Anders Bering Breivik och han ska den här dagen utföra en av de värsta terrorattackerna i modern tid. Breivik avlossar över 1000 skott under 72 minuter på den lilla ön. Lara överlever men det gör inte hennes syster Bano. Bilder av döda ungdomar, tonåringar som försöker simma för sitt liv eller dom som klamrar sig fast vid en bergvägg har etsats sig fast för alltid. The overarching objective of cancer research, championed by organizations like the US National Cancer Institute and the American Cancer Society, is to "end cancer as we know it". While this statement may suggest a future with less cancer, the stark reality unfolds quite differently. My guest argues that modern medicine is not in the process of ending cancer; rather, we are accelerating the problem. Globally, the number of new cases each year is estimated to increase from 18 million in 2020 to 28 million in 2040. Cancer is intrinsically related to aging, and the incidence increases exponentially from the age of 50. Accordingly, the better we get at treating the disease and postponing death, the more cancer there will be in the population. Jarle Breivik (MD, PhD, EdD) is professor and head of the Department of Behavioral Medicine at the University of Oslo. He is on a mission to change the scientific discourse and the public perception of cancer. In his new book Making Sense of Cancer: From Its Evolutionary Origin to Its Societal Impact and the Ultimate Solution, Jarle discusses how aging, cancer, and death are essential elements of what it means to be human. Our guest explains key ideas in Heidegger's work in Being and Time while also arguing that the ways of ‘worldmaking' disclosed in sport are more ontologically diverse than Heidegger's classic text opened up for. We explore the four constitutive relations identified by our guest (‘I-Me', ‘I-You', ‘I-Society' and ‘I-Nature') and their typical manifestations in sport. And finally, we explore what kind of 'things' are 'meaning' and 'meaningful life' in Heidegger's work. Gunnar Breivik is Professor Emeritus in Sport Social Sciences at the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, where he was Rector of the School 1999-2005. His pioneering work in philosophy of sport over several decades has covered a range of areas including studies of intentionality, knowledge, skills, and other aspects of human experience and action in sport. Moreover, he has conducted many empirical studies in sport and physical activity from psychological and sociological perspectives, including studies on personality in high-risk sports.
