For the second of our four live podcasts - co-hosted by the 'Life of Action' author, Mike Fury - we welcome back the British stunt coordinator and former Hong Kong stuntman, Jude Poyer. Jude's first appearance was on Episode 48 back in 2019. Now, in 2025, he is the action director behind Xavier Gens' violent French brawler, 'Farang' (aka 'Mayhem!'), and Gareth Evans' lauded co-collaborator, having worked with 'The Raid' director on his landmark UK crime series, 'Gangs of London', and the eagerly-awaited Netflix production, 'Havoc', starring Tom Hardy. In this wide-ranging conversation, Jude unveils his secret to coordinating a great action sequence, what it feels like to be kicked in the face by Yuen Biao, the difference between working in Hong Kong and the UK, and why he thinks Gareth Evans might be one of the best action filmmakers working in the industry today. This episode was recorded live at the Ultimate Picture Palace in Oxford, UK, on 12 November 2024, following a screening of the crazy Hong Kong superhero film, 'The Heroic Trio' (1993), directed by Johnnie To, produced by Tony Ching Siu-tung, and starring Michelle Yeoh, Anita Mui and Maggie Cheung. Screening as part of the British Film Institute's Art of Action season - in association with the Independent Cinema Office and Film Hub South East - we also discuss the film and its impact, as well as sharing our thoughts on the lasting legacy of the 'golden age' of Hong Kong action cinema.LINKSJude Poyer on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reelpowerstunts/Jude Poyer on X: https://twitter.com/ReelPowerStuntsJude Poyer on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ReelPowerStuntsJude Poyer's website: http://www.reelpowerstunts.com/ Jude Poyer on IMDb: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0694706/Jude Poyer on Kung Fu Movie Guide Podcast, Episode 48: http://kungfumovieguide.com/kfmg-podcast-s04-episode-48-jude-poyer/ Mike Fury on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/themikefury/Mike Fury's website: https://www.mikefury.net/'The Heroic Trio' review on Kung Fu Movie Guide: http://kungfumovieguide.com/the-heroic-trio/ 'The Heroic Trio' trailer: https://youtu.be/zhrYrExHi2s Buy 'The Heroic Trio' on Blu-ray: https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/7155-the-heroic-trio-executionersVisit the Ultimate Picture Palace in Oxford: https://uppcinema.com/ Learn more about the BFI's Art of Action season: https://www.bfi.org.uk/art-actionA huge thank you to Independent Cinema Office (https://www.independentcinemaoffice.org.uk/) and Film Hub South East (https://www.independentcinemaoffice.org.uk/film-hub-south-east/) Hosted on Acast. For fans of a certain age, Wednesday's news that the Bills cut three staples of their starting lineup and locker room—CB Tre'Davious White, S Jordan Poyer, and C Mitch Morse—was eerily similar to Black Thursday, when, on Feb. 10, 2000, Buffalo cut future Pro Football Hall of Famers DE Bruce Smith, RB Thurman Thomas, and WR Andre Reed. In both cases, the moves were made to help Buffalo become cap-compliant, as current GM Brandon Beane faced a cap deficit of over $40 million before making this year's roster cuts to free up salary space. This week on the Billieve Podcast, host John Boccacino discusses the end of an era for the Buffalo Bills, how cutting mainstays and fan favorites like White, Poyer, and Morse is a harsh reminder that the NFL is a business first and foremost, how the emotional trauma Bills fans felt will be greater than the hit the team takes on the football field, and why, in the long run, these were moves that Beane had to make.  Subscribe to the Buffalo Rumblings podcast channel featuring Billieve, Buffalo Rumblings Q&A, Breaking Buffalo Rumblings, Code of Conduct with J. Live Reactions: Historically Chaotic Wednesday For The Bills

On today's Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Joe From Queens to evaluate and discuss a seemingly normal Wednesday afternoon that quickly erupted into a historically chaotic Wednesday as the Buffalo Bills released a trio of incredibly valued big-named players, cut a few more additionally and also redid the contracts of two others. Oh they re-signed David Edwards too. And we think Matt Haack. Not since "Black Thursday" of February 10, 2000 when the Bills cut Andre Reed, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith on the same has there been this kind of single-day impact on a Bills roster. At around 2pm Wednesday Patrick had wrapped recording a solo podcast for the next day that was focused on his definition of what a realistically perfect Bills offseason would look like. Two hours later that episode, which will never see the light of day was shot to the moon after the Bills released Jordan Poyer, Mitch Morse and Tre White in one big swoop over roughly 90 minutes. They also cut special teams standout Siran Neal and wide receiver Deonte Harty while redoing Rasul Douglas's contract for 2024 and getting Von Miller to take what actually accounts to a 2024 pay cut. In all the Bills gained over $30 million in cap space during the day, not counting $10 million more not available until after June 1 with the Tre White release. While it greatly helps puts general manager Brandon Beane towards much more practical operating procedure heading into free agency it comes with a pretty big price. Morse still looked good at center last season and the unit was not only one of the low-key strengths of the team but also collectively played together all 17 games. His loss will be missed. So will Jordan Poyer, who came back last year on a two-year deal and while he wasn't the Poyer of old, he played pretty well. Tre White is one of the most popular players in team history and elite cornerback when healthy--the problem is he's now had two major injuries and the Bills have multiple good cornerbacks. The guys, to some extent stunned, react to it----all of it. ♦♦♦♦♦ Follow Patrick Moran/Talking Buffalo Podcast  Substack: Patrick Moran's Substack Twitter:  @PatMoranTweets. It's another edition of Fan Friday on this episode of Talking Buffalo and host Patrick Moran is joined for a second straight day by friend/recurring guest Tone Pucks and together they take some questions and comments from fans, including those pointed towards Gabe Davis, Sean McDermott, Jordan Poyer, Sabres potential trades and all-time video game favorites. As you'd suspect the comments and questions are heavy on the Buffalo Bills side and the guys answer from show listeners wanting to know if they think Buffalo is going to re-sign Davis (a pending free agent), and/or keep Poyer for the final year of his contract. Also, the guys are asked if they'd retain or fire McDermott if it where them making the decisions as well as if they think Tyler Dunne's scathing McDermott commentary actually helped saved their season. Beyond football, a listener wants to know if the Sabres will make trades as sellers near the deadline if they don't make a run soon and who are the most likely candidates if that happens, sending Patrick and Tone into a conversation primarily about Casey Mittelstadt. The thought, a realistic one of losing Mittlestadt soon enough in particular angers Tone Pucks. They also answer questions revolving about where they'd most to live, favorite re-watchable TV shows, the thing they liked most about where they grew up and plenty more---a fun and causal Friday of sorts! In this episode, Rob & Dump Truck break down everything defense from the trenches, to the boundaries and all the way to the backend of the '23 Bills D. But it all starts with Rob's favorite person to discuss, our "new" defensive coordinator Sean McDermott. What should we expect from the defense now that McD will be calling the plays? Wait, wasn't he always calling them? Well, for :13 at least, right? Who knows but the consensus seems to be that McD will be more aggressive with the scheme of the D. Is that believable?Leslie Frazier was known for his "bend but don't break" defensive coaching style. Will the '23 Bills mirror that philosophy or are we in for an entirely new defensive scheme? The d-line room has some depth and DT is all here for it. From the interior to the edge rushers, Beane has provided McD with plenty of ammo for his return back to playcalling. Mr. Basham & Mr. Epenesa, please report to the Principal's Office. The "Mike" LB camp battle seems to be heating up at St. John Fisher. But if you have three capable MLB's, does that mean you really don't even have one? What the heck is going on with Kaiir Elam? Like seriously, it's getting kind of weird. Can all of his recent struggles just be related to him playing more zone than he did in college at UF or is there more to it? Will it be Elam, Jackson or Benford standing at the end of camp? Here is to hoping Tre White gets back to All-Pro form because we sure could use that version of him in '23. Finally, the fellas wrap up by giving flowers to our All-Pro safety tandem in what could be the last year we see them together in this form. Salute to two of the finest defensive backs Buffalo has ever had. It's really been 7yrs of Hyde & Poyer?!?!?! That's crazy how time flies.

And of course that led to Derek Carr and the Jets. LIV Golf got horrendous ratings this past weekend on the CW Network. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the upcoming storm or no storm hitting us. Jerry starts with Jordan Poyer saying he wants to go to a state that doesn't take half his money. Does Eddie know state nicknames? Poyer would also like to live in a state where you can see the sun. Jerry has audio from new Mets broadcaster Keith Raad. Aaron Boone talked about the pitch clock and adjustment time. Manny Machado got an 11-year $350 million deal. Trae Young and the Hawks beat the Nets at the buzzer. The Rangers beat the Kings and K'Andre Miller spit on Drew Doughty. Was it on purpose, or an accident? Depends on who you ask. Patrick Kane is rumored to be going to the Rangers. In the final segment of the hour, Gio is home alone this week as his wife and kids went to visit her family. Gio also watched ‘Physical 100' on Netflix and said this show needs to come to the United States. The one on Netflix is from Korea.  Hour 3: We are trying to figure out what's in the oatmeal that Boomer loves from a new deli near the radio station. Alabama basketball player Brandon Miller had one of his teammates pat him down as he was introduced to the crowd this past weekend. Jerry returns for an update but first we discussed the XFL from this past weekend. Long Island's own Jack Coan threw 3 TDs in a win, whatever that's worth. Justin Verlander talked about the pitch clock and said he had plenty of time to pitch so no issue for him. Aaron Judge talked about what he's working on this Spring. Trae Young and the Hawks beat the Nets on a buzzer beater. Damian Lillard scored 71 points last night. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the NFL offseason and the different things the NFL will review. GMs will start meeting each other face to face so maybe we see some deals going down soon. We also talked about Daniel Jones and the Giants. If they don't work out a deal, they will franchise tag him for sure. Former Giants player Blake Martinez is now making millions selling Pokemon cards. Boomer said there have to be Pokemon cards somewhere in his house from Gunnar. Gunnar calls in and says Boomer throws a lot of stuff in the trash so that's where the Pokemon cards probably are.   Hour 4: Al's greyhound dog Whimsy injured her neck. They talked about Al taking her to the dog emergency room for a dog MRI. Al does an impression of the ‘greyhound scream of death'. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about inviting the other show hosts to our live stage show in Jersey City on April 17th. Keith Hernandez had a tough time with ‘Jazz Chisolm'. Evan wants to get ‘I love the pitch clock' tattooed on his butt. Gio has a different idea for him. Jordan Poyer talked about free agency and said if not Buffalo, he wants to go somewhere that doesn't take half his money and maybe a place where the sun comes out. Trae Young and the Hawks beat the Nets at the buzzer. Damian Lillard scored 71 points last night. K'Andre Miller was ejected last night for spitting on Drew Doughty of the Kings. The Islanders shut out the Jets in Winnipeg. In the final segment of the show, part timer Carlos was producing his first daytime shift and wore a suit. Booming Celebration this year is a ‘Booming Fiesta' and you should come dressed like the Country Music Awards. We expect the wins to come out and win again tonight.
