In this episode, I interview special guest, Donna Connor. Donna is a proud Mom and wife, serial entrepreneur, author, coach, and CEO of a multi-7 figure consulting firm, and founder of Life on Purpose Academy where she helps people heal their relationship with money. In our authentic conversation, Donna shares her story of how God helped her transform her unhealthy relationship with money, which resulted in her low self-esteem struggles and having to go through two bankruptcies. She also shares how God guided her through his promptings to her calling and how having an attitude of gratitude helped her heal and others she helps heal. In addition, she shares words from scripture that have ministered to her to encourage others. In This Episode: Donna Connor is a proud mom and wife, serial entrepreneur, author, coach, and CEO of a multi-7 figure consulting firm and founder of Life on Purpose Academy where she helps people heal their relationship with money. She finds passion in helping people and has been helping people get out of debt for the last seventeen years. Donna's path is to help others learn what their purpose is and help them go after it by becoming financially sound. “It isn't about me. It is about what I can do for others and I know that God will bless me with everything I am doing because I am helping his children.” It wasn't until she was a young adult that she came to understand that she was worthy because she is a child of God. She grew up thinking she was not worthy. It is how you handle money and how you believe you are worthy of the money that changes everything. It took a lot of prayer and counseling for Donna to realize that she was worthy. Most of it was journaling, reading the scriptures, and understanding that God wants the best for us and that there will be challenges in this life for our growth and bring us closer to God. Donna shares her “The Power that Comes from Following God's Prompting” God story. More often than not parents don't teach their kids about finances for many different reasons. Her business, Life on Purpose Academy, started from a prompting from God. We learn more from our trials than we do from our wins. A budget can be the tool that helps you go after your dreams and get them everything that they want. People look around and assume everyone has it together but them. It doesn't help them move forward and it isn't true. Gratitude and recognizing the blessings we have day in and day out make such a difference in how we handle our money. Showing gratitude and accepting the gratitude softens our hearts. The biggest thing for her and her transformation was that she knew who she was. Listening to God's promptings and followings has led her to all the good things in her life. We are going to get promptings that don't make sense, that we don't want to do, and we are going to fight and avoid doing. Just do it! God will give you the how if you take the first step. This week's guest is Jessica Huie MBE, author of bestseller, Purpose, one of the top ten business books according to The Independent. From single mum to jet-setting journalist & publicist to the stars to labelled one of Britain's Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs by the Evening Standard, she found her purpose, helping others to find theirs by stripping back to meet themselves. The pandemic catalysed a move to Jamaica with her 9 yr old son & that leap of faith inspired 5 further chapters of Jessica's latest book Purpose. After growing up in dysfunctional childhood, Jessica became a teen mum living in a hostel on benefits having left home at 17 with 4 GCSEs. But work & achievement became her driver and she created a glittering career in PR followed by a successful business in multi-cultural occasion cards. However it was when her father was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2016 that she became present for the first time and experienced what she came to understand to be a spiritual awakening. Having found her own sense of self, she realised it was her destiny to help others to find their purpose too. And The Purpose Academy and The Purpose Retreat were born. Her vision for the future is one where we are brave enough to live lives which are the truest expression of who we are. Once we do that, all of our social problems will take care of themselves. She believes we must be willing to feel our feelings. That's the starting place for living our purpose. Thanks so much Jessica for sharing how you dared to live your best life which went from outward success to inner understanding, and embracing a fundamentally holistic purpose-driven life moving forwards. Thanks also for showing us how to find the courage to look beneath the surface and find out what we really want to be and do with our lives. You can find out more about Jessica's work on https://www.jessicahuie.com/ and follow her on Instagram @jessica_huie_Join Lou on Linkedin, or sign up to her mailing list for her newsletter and a free podcast guesting mini-guide. Our guest on the podcast this week is Jessica Huie MBE, Founder of The Purpose Academy, entrepreneur, and the Author of PURPOSE, published by Hay House. Jessica has enjoyed a glittering career as a journalist working with some of the world's best-known stars. In 2006 Jessica launched Color Blind Cards, a multi-award-winning multicultural greeting card company that drove an early conversation around the importance of ethnic representation in retail and became the first independent brand to secure a high-street presence for black cards in the UK. Labeled one of Britain's Most Inspiring Entrepreneurs, Jessica was honored with an MBE for services to entrepreneurship and contribution to diversity and inclusion. In 2017 having recognized a lack of books written by authors of color in the personal development space, she spearheaded the Diverse Wisdom Initiative with Hay House. The program is designed to attract and elevate more writers of color in the holistic health and spirituality space. Today Jessica shares her own unique path to purpose, from being a teenage mum in the UK, and a successful publicity career to following her calling to become more of herself, and a move to live on the island of Jamaica. Jessica speaks with passion about the ‘magical' power of purpose, not of something new to be learned but as an inside-out process, stripping away everything that isn't us, until we are left with only what is, and we find ourselves at our very essence. She talks about creating space for the truth. Listen in as we talk through how purpose is connected to service, as Jessica states “I am of most service when I heal and expand.” And we explore how the world would be very different if everyone stepped into the power of their purpose. Jessica speaks with rare humility and gratitude about how the ‘magic' shows up when she lets go of the ‘white knuckle' ride of life. If you have ever felt the “niggle” that there is a greater purpose inside of you just waiting to be expressed, then I encourage you to listen to this resonant dialogue for insights. I suspect you'll enjoy Jessica's perspective on the power of purpose as much as I did. Key Takeaways Jessica's journey from a publicist, shaping perceptions to her work today in the Purpose Academy peeling away those perceptions to live from essence. How to begin to uncover your true purpose What it means to allow love to lead your life When we do our own inner work, we show up in service of the whole What is your deeper purpose? Memorable Quote “My greatest work is in surrender, in letting go of the agenda and the need to control where I go. And that goes against a lot of what we were taught, in many ways, it goes against the idea of ambition, but, but I think they can coexist”—Jessica Huie Episode Resources: http://jessicahuie.com (JessicaHuie.com) https://youtu.be/NSyzFg34WI8 (Jessica's TED Talk) https://amzn.to/3FeGibU (BOOK: Purpose by Jessica Huie) https://www.instagram.com/jessica_huie_/?hl=en (Jessica's Instagram) http://SacredChangemakers.com (SacredChangemakers.com) https://sacredchangemakers.com/community (Our Sacred Community) https://www.instagram.com/jayne_m_warrilow/?hl=en (Jayne Warrilow on Instagram) Thank you to our sponsor: A HUGE thank you to our sponsor Coaches Business School who are helping coaches to succeed in business, so they can make a meaningful difference in our world. This week's guest is my wonderful friend Jessica Huie. I cannot tell you how lucky I am to have her in my life. The word inspirational gets thrown around a lot these days doesn't it, but Jessica really does live up to that description. She went from being a teen mother expelled from school and living in a hostel, to having an amazing career in PR. She founded two awarding-winning businesses and received an MBE for her contribution to promoting diversity in business. Having built the life she thought she desired and looking very successful on the outside, her father passed away. This gave her an awakening to really assess everything with fresh eyes. She is now on a mission to help us connect to who we really are and to live from the heart rather than the head. We chat about: How to find your purpose (it's not what you might think) Why control is the enemy of authenticity and joy Why we have the desire to control everything in our lives How to live based on how it feels to you and not how it looks to others How to make bold choices even if they go against the grain Her parenting philosophy How she handled the fallout from moving with her son from Surrey to Jamaica in the middle of a pandemic This is an incredible episode, a very spiritual episode. My hope and intention is that you find real peace and comfort in Jessica's words. Every time I speak with Jessica it just really helps me cut through the day-to-day stresses and worries and ask myself what kind of life do I really want to live and am I creating it for myself. I really hope this episode does that for you too. As always, we continue the conversation over on Instagram, so come and join us there. Our legacy is the mark we leave on the world, through the teachings and love we give to our children, our partner, our family, and ourselves. To build an authentic and sustainable legacy over time, we must understand certain things: No matter who you are, or what you do, the temptation will always come to you and when we make mistakes, it is precisely that negative energy that will not allow us to return to positive energy, to make us feel so guilty, so dirty that we will feel that we are not deserving of its forgiveness. Do the best you can and remember that we can always return to God. Finding and realizing what our purposes and responsibilities are in this world, because everything that has been created is with a purpose in mind, with a for and why. From the chair where you are sitting or the desk you use to work, it has a reason to be. Make sure that everything you create always has a productive and above all positive end. Love exists in different forms, love towards God, towards our parents, our children, our partner, and towards ourselves are one of the many forms of love. Each one of them should be based on servanthood, but what do we mean by that? This is about placing the happiness of the other before ours, of understanding their needs and giving them the correct value, if the other person puts it into practice as well, there is no way that the relationship will fail. These are the great lessons that Jamal Miller leaves us in this episode of the Resilient Minds Podcast. Jamal and Natasha Miller; founded Miller Media Group, now the parent company to widely known online programs The One University, Profit in Purpose Academy, Leader School, and Everyday Seminary. They have since been featured in Forbes, BET, JET magazine, and have been guests on a CBN segment - all in the grand effort to reduce the divorce rate in America. With a powerhouse team of digital marketers, Miller Media Group reaches an online audience in the millions, and The One University has graduated over 7,000 students. Jamal is an Amazon best-selling author of "25 Ways to Prepare for Marriage Other Than Dating," the CEO of Miller Media Group, and founder of Profit in Purpose. Natasha is the creator and founder of the Fearless Women Mentorship program, and both are associate pastors at All Nations Worship Assembly in Chicago. Together, they have two beautiful daughters, Harvest Ann and Melodie Grace. If you want to know more about how to build your legacy, stay until the end of this podcast and remember: Two is better than one - Jamal Miller.

Today I talk with Shawna Scafe! She is a mom of three, practical minimalist, self-professed LadyNerd, and Christian Life Coach for moms. About seven years ago she left her underwhelming career in Public Health Inspection to stay home with her kids. Which trained her to get very good at sweeping and 'saying no to that face'. Since then she has been sharing about her (messy but rewarding) decluttering journey, the awakening she had that she was living her life on autopilot, and her endeavours to live her life ON PURPOSE. This prompted her to write the Life on Purpose Workbook, and Homemaker, on Purpose. Shawna coaches moms all over the world on issues that keep them stuck. She runs the Life on Purpose Academy to help moms show up for their lives with more peace, purpose and presence. She believes that we are meant to make choices about what matter to us in life (like quality cheese, simplifying our lives, and being an intentional parent), and that God's grace covers everything. Host: Whitly Jane When the world listens to women, it listens to white women. For far too long, Black women's voices have gone unheard, even though they've been using their voices loudly for centuries to enact change. Today, more than ever, it is NECESSARY that we create a unifying action to center Black women's lives, stories, and calls to action. We need to listen to Black women. These are the words of Rachel Cargle and this is why she created #ShareTheMicNow, so that Black women can speak from the accounts of white women. The intention of this movement is to magnify Black women and the important work that they're doing in order to catalyze the change that will only come when we truly hear each other's voices. And that's why this week's episode of the workshop weekly podcast is going to be a little different. Today I am handing the hosting seat and microphone over to my friend Whitly Jane. Whitly is the host of the Get Inspired Show, she is an Inspirational speaker and mentor. Whitly speaks to inspire others to take action in their lives and businesses. She is the creator of the Purpose Academy that guides women to step into their authentic power so they can create purpose driven businesses and leave their mark in the world. Whitly is a true leader with a mission to help others unleash their power, ignite their passion and live their purpose. When she isn't busy being a mom and everything in between, she's travelling to new places with her kids, spending time by the ocean and dreaming big! Today she is coming to you with her message about using your authentic power to hone your unique message, so that you can show up confidently and use your voice, even when it feels scary. I know that her words will leave you feeling empowered and inspired and I am so honoured to hand the reins over to her today. Here’s what she has in store for you: The greatest lesson she has learned and how she’s using that to share her message at this time. How you can shift your perspective and navigate your own message during this time so that you too can contribute to this great change without the fearShe talks about her painful experiences with judgment, racism, prejudice and how that led to an inability to love herselfHer personal struggle with the comparison game. The mindset shifts she needed to make to find her inner purpose. The significant of honing your Authentic Power and the role that EGO playsWhat is possible for you once you shift your own perspectiveHow to stop living your life on other people’s termsHer take on equality: we are more similar than we are differentThe ONE THING you need to do today to get closer to your authentic voice and honing your own authentic power so that. you can show up genuinely right now and join the fight for equality Whitly’s closing Words: So today, your simple yet profound piece of action I am giving you today is that you take some quiet and get real with yourself and write down what message is inside my heart and soul that keeps whispering to me that I have been afraid to share with the world?
