This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast we have Hanna Inaiáh as our guest. This episode will especially pique your interest if you are intrigued by AI as our guest shares her journey of using artificial intelligence (AI) in her work, including creating stunning images and designs. Hanna is a Brazilian digital artist and surface designer who creates designs that can be applied to home goods, clothing, packaging, and fabric. In this episode, she shares her journey of incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) into her work and how it has allowed her to create stunning and realistic visuals. As an artist, Hanna has worked with brands like Farm Rio, Sig Bergamin, Reserva, and Premiere Vision. The debate surrounding AI is not new. Ever since its advent, people have been skeptical about AI's role in our personal and professional lives. Hanna argues that AI should be seen as a tool that can enhance our creativity and grow our business, rather than something that should be shut down. Reflecting on her own journey with art and AI, Hanna says that using AI tools has had a positive impact on her creativity and has helped her attract new clients. For her, it was experimenting with AI that expanded her creative vision and allowed her to push her own limits. While AI allowed Hanna to see her designs more realistically and make adjustments accordingly, there has been pushback as well where not everyone agrees with Hanna's approach. However, regardless of people's opinions, Hanna has continued to do what she deems best for her art.  Currently, Hanna is exploring the idea of creating a course to teach other designers and artists how they can incorporate AI into their work. So, listen to this week's full podcast to find out more about Hanna's viewpoint on AI and how she managed to use it to her advantage. This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have Gayatri Singh as our guest. Founder of Art Incept, Gayatri spent 20 years in the corporate world before she decided to enter the art world. Her gallery has a ‘mentor's first' approach where experienced curators and experts guide artists. Despite not having any formal background in arts, Gayatri was bothered by the fact that there were so many unestablished artists in India because emerging artists did not really have a platform. More importantly, Gayatri could see that there was no way artists could gain the necessary knowledge that would help them navigate the world of art. This led to the inception of Art Incept, a gallery dedicated to nurturing and promoting emerging talent in the visual arts. What attracts Gayatri towards emerging artists is their boldness and fearlessness. She has observed that younger artists are more experimental and so they are using varied materials, which offers a fresh perspective. Her experience with such fresh voices has allowed her to make some observations, and she shares that wisdom with us as well. From making a good portfolio to choosing the right curator/gallery, Gayatri thinks there are a few things emerging artists can do to get their foot in the door. Art Incept offers various training sessions where artists are taught marketing strategy, how to photograph their work, how to be present on social media, and how to work with a gallery. These sessions can make all the difference for young artists, as in the beginning, they barely have an idea of where to start. With the right guidance and training, they can make progress in the right direction. Tune in to the full episode to listen to Gayatri talk about emerging artists and how she is noticing a shift in people's attitudes when it comes to art. This week on our Arts to Hearts podcast, we have three guests who are featured in our book ‘101 Art Book: Floral Edition'. Our host Charuka Arora sits down with Dawn Bouchard, KC Christmas, and Christina Cowan to talk about their creative process, the hardest things they have faced as artists, and their experience of getting published in 101 Art Book. Dawn Bouchard decided to follow her passion after her retirement as a school principal, and now this is what she wants to do all the time. For the past 5 years, she has been painting and experimenting with acrylic paints and soft pastels. KC Christmas is based in South Carolina, and even though is a part-time middle school teacher, her first love is creating things and painting which involves acrylic paint and paper collages. Christina Cowan is from Connecticut, and while she is a social worker, she has been transitioning to a full-time artist. Her work involves oil where she also incorporates collages, poetry, and quotes in order to tell a story. For all three of our guests, the hardest part about being an artist is finding their style and managing the business side of it. This is something that rings true for many others, especially emerging artists, as the initial creative journey is all about finding your voice and how you can make the most out of your work. The creative journey is not all about the challenges, but also the rewards where the entire experience of creating something can be satisfying. It is all about taking inspiration from different elements and then using your art to bring those ideas to life, and for KC, Christina, and Dawn, that is what it's all about! Our book ‘101 Art Book: Floral Edition' has a stunning floral cover by Sonal Nathwani which also makes it a perfect addition to your coffee table. Her books include ‘Knife Witch', a fantasy adventure, and Unpronounceable, a sci-fi/fantasy farce. Susan continues to remind us that age indeed is just a number, and you can pursue your dreams as long as your heart is in it. She did various jobs to support her passion for making art, and today, she is still very much consumed by her ventures. Her biggest fear is that she will regret not having done enough, and so now she is making sure that that doesn't happen! Susan's positive energy is evident in the podcast as well as the Instagram reels she posts on her account. She believes in living each day to the fullest and showing up every day. Through her travel experiences and the work she has done so far, Susan has a lot to share. One thing she has learned from her life as an artist is to be consistent. Even if it's a small thing, you must stick to it and do it every day as it is the one thing that has helped Susan successfully keep in touch with her inner creative. Susan's philosophy in life is to seek novel experiences, as they are the ones that keep us young. This attitude has opened vistas for her, as she always tries to do things she has never done before, and in turn, this practice keeps her creativity alive! On this week's Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have Jennifer Rizzo as our guest. Jennifer is a partner and director of Hashimoto Contemporary, and her focus is emerging contemporary art. In this episode, Jennifer talks about the hardest part of being in the gallery business, how she connects curators with artists, and how she feels about posting art on social media. For Jennifer, being in the gallery business is gratifying as she is able to do what she has always wanted to do; help other artists. With her skill set and years of experience in this business, Jennifer has learned quite a few things about curating shows and exhibitions. There is nothing Jennifer enjoys more than being able to witness the process and behind-the-scenes of an art show. As a gallerist, Jennifer has some tips to share for artists which include doing research and finding a gallery that is the right fit for them. It's all about building those tiny bridges and creating a community, and Jennifer is spilling the beans on that! Jennifer and Charuka also have a heart-to-heart about how sharing work with the world can be daunting for some artists, and what can be done to get over that fear. Moreover, as a gallerist, Jennifer also emphasizes the importance of trust between a gallerist and an artist, and how artists must learn to have more faith in their abilities. Another fascinating topic Jennifer and Charuka touch upon is the power of social media and how artists need to curate their online image. Jennifer thinks that it's important that artists focus more on authentically showing their art and process, rather than worrying about the aesthetics of their Instagram feed. Chilu, Anne van Midden, and Rajul Shah are among the 50 artists that have been featured in our latest Studio Visit Book Volume 3, where you can read about their creative process through intimate photographs and revealing interviews. These artists talk about how art is a meditative process for them in some way, and while the final art form may differ, the act itself is deeply therapeutic. This week's episode is an opportunity for our listeners to get to know these artists beyond the pages of our Studio Visit Book. Chilu, Rajul, and Anne also share what their art is about and what their creative process looks like. While Anne compares her process to choreography, Rajul shares an interesting activity that calms her and gets her in the 'creative mood'. Through their respective creative journey, our guests have gained quite a lot of insights, and hence, have some words of affirmation to share. From creating relationships with the right people to building trust with the collectors, Kristin has done everything she can to make sure that she has a sustainable business that continuously grows despite any external variables. Right now, she's running galleries in London, the U.S., and Berlin, and none of it came easy. This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have a very special guest who is reinventing the art world with her creative act. Lisa Ray is not only an actor, author, and writer, but she is also the co-founder of TheUpsideSpace (TUS), a curator-led digital art platform that spotlights artistic expressions from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. In this episode, Charuka and Lisa talk about putting yourself out there as a creative and why it's important to create an inclusive art ecosystem. Lisa describes herself as a creative and wanderer, someone who never stopped exploring and refused to be confined to one creative label. While many know Lisa for her amazing acting chops, Lisa considers writing as her primary mode of expression and has also published her memoir “Close to the Bone”. She has also written numerous articles for magazines in India such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, etc. Over the years, Lisa has not lost touch with her creative side and is constantly finding ways to connect back to it. One such example is Lisa's latest endeavor, TheUpsideSpace, which focuses on bridging the gap between traditional and digital arts. By focusing especially on art from places like Bhutan and Laos, TUS is making sure that the art world can become more inclusive towards artistic expressions that normally do not get as much spotlight as they should. The world is filled with creative minds, and all we need to do is think outside the box to create a space where all forms of art are welcome! Lisa is a huge proponent of reimagining and reinventing your modes of expression, and the path she has chosen as a creative is an inspiring one. She admits that TUS is ahead of the curve and that in itself should encourage anyone who also wants to bring about tangible change in the art world. TheUpsideSpace has put together some marvelous exhibitions so far, so do check it out on their official . This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast, we are hosting Nicholas Wilton who is the founder of the Art2Life Creativity workshops and classes. In this episode, Nicholas talks about finding joy in his work, the limiting beliefs artists have, and the vulnerable moment in his life that pushed him toward becoming the creative visionary he is today! Nicholas has always been an artist, and as he gained experience from his own journey, he decided to help others achieve that as well. He started with small destination workshops and taught online. With the assistance of his team, he helps people find who they are as artists. In the meantime, Nicholas has not forgotten his passion and continues to make art in his own studio. Something Nicholas has learned over the years is that artists have little faith in themselves, and that is something that can really hinder their growth. Nicholas thinks that artists today are limited by the belief that some artists are more gifted than others. He argues that each individual has their own set of skills and is as capable as anyone else. Realizing this is the first small step you can take to build that self-confidence in yourself. Another mistake that artists often make is that they compare themselves to others and worry whether they will be able to sell art. Comparison is the thief of joy, and Nicholas thinks that it can truly shatter your self-esteem. Instead of looking at other people's art, it's important that you focus on your work and be authentic, and only then you can begin to take control of your narrative!  In this podcast, Nicholas shares many more insightful tips on how you can connect with your inner artist and do what you love, so tune in and listen to the entire episode! Now, she has her own online gallery which supports artists and better assists her clients with acquiring original art and curating their collections. Liza was born in Russia and moved to Canada when she was 17. Once in Canada, Liza felt an instant connection with the galleries and museums. It was when she had her first gallery job that she realized that this could be a great fit for her. She felt confident about handling the artists and their needs, and that is the skillset someone like her needs to be successful at what she does. Talking about having multiple ventures, Liza admits that she doesn't see it as debilitating, rather, it's an advantage because if something financially doesn't work one month, she can work a little bit more on another thing and vice versa. This also helps keep her motivated to grow and aim bigger. For the emerging artists out there, Liza has a positive outlook to share. She thinks that being an emerging artist in today's age of social media is an advantage as they can choose their own route. Such artists have the option to decide whether they want to sell on their own or if they want to be with galleries. The possibilities are endless, and that can prove to be a big advantage. This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have Anupa Mehta as our guest, who is a force to be reckoned with in the contemporary art world. In this episode, our host Charuka Arora asks Anupa about her experience in the art world, the shift has she seen over the years, and her own relationship with artists and art collectors. Anupa has been in the art world for quite some time now, and she has closely witnessed how things have changed, something she touches upon in this podcast. Anupa has had an illustrious career. With three decades of experience as an editor, art consultant, curator, and gallerist, Anupa is not only trained in journalism and arts management, but she also holds a Master's degree in Narrative Therapy. She is also the founding editor of Art India magazine, and the author of INDIA 20, a book of interviews with leading contemporary Indian artists. Anupa started her career at a time before the evolution of the digital world, and so she misses the slowness of life and how people were able to have a conversation face to face. While she enjoys her work as much as she did all those years ago, she can also sense a shift in perspective and behavior among the younger artists. For those contemporary artists, Anupa has only one piece of advice and that is to ‘be adaptable'. Listening to Anupa, it becomes clear why and how she was able to excel in her career path. As a gallerist, Anupa knows the art of building relationships. She values trust and integrity above all, and that is why she is able to form sustainable relationships with her clients, whether they are art collectors or artists. She still looks at the world in a way that may be described by some people as old-fashioned, but that is a good thing. It is precisely those values that have enabled Anupa to see through people and gauge their needs, and that's what makes her so good at what she does. This week on the Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have James Oliver who is an artist from Philadelphia as well as the owner of the art gallery ‘James Oliver Gallery' (JOG) in Pennsylvania. James already had a successful career as an artist when he decided to open his own art gallery almost 17 years ago, something that happened quite naturally for him.  Growing up, James had already spent much of his years organizing festivals, etc., and so managing a gallery was something right up his alley. In addition to that, having a spacious art studio meant he didn't need to hunt for any suitable spaces, and so he trusted his instincts and took this major step in his creative journey.  For James, being an artist never came in the way of his managing his art gallery, and vice versa. Everything that he has done so far has been to sustain himself and generate enough income. For him, starting another business was just another way to support his art career. His secret to managing it all lies in the fact that he is constantly challenging himself and trying to get better at what he does. Without letting the pressure get to him, his motto is to let it all happen slowly and gradually, something that keeps his business steady.  As an artist and an art gallery owner, James' motivation also comes from the feedback he gets from people, and that pushes him to continue doing what he does. He sees the value of community, as it's his hard work as well as the community effort that keeps him going. Despite JOG being a commercial gallery, according to James, people do want to help and support to make sure it's as successful as possible, and that really highlights why we as artists need to come together in support of each other.  To find out more on how James transitioned from his role of an artist to a gallerist, and how he has been managing it so far, tune into this week's full episode!   We're delighted to announce that we are now accepting art submissions for the sixth edition of ATH Magazine! This week on the Arts to Heart Podcast, our host Charuka Arora has an insightful conversation with Richa Maheshwari, who is a designer on a mission to bring back the arts and crafts that are fading due to the advent of fast fashion. Richa has been in the software services industry by profession, where she worked as a product manager for a German company for almost 16 years. As COVID hit, much like everyone else, Richa took a break to spend more time at home. This was her chance to restart and explore, and she took it. After going to an office for so many years, Richa longed to be on the ground where she could do something much more substantial and tangible, and that is when she was able to connect to an international labor organization which marked the beginning of her life with traditional crafts.  As a child, Richa was always interested in stories that were rich in culture, and now she has the opportunity to tell those stories to the rest of the world in an innovative way. With its textile legacy, Odisha has many stories to tell, and so Richa decided to direct her energy towards uplifting the local artisan community in a way that helped the artists as well as introducing their craft to the world. For Richa, it is very much about the “ability to build narratives in a fun way so that the audience is able to receive it simply”. As she built her brand, Boito, Richa has had many things to learn and unlearn. From forming trustworthy relationships with the local community to finding a balance where their culture and traditions can be shared with the rest of the world, Richa has come a long way. She has opened doors for other artists who dream of utilizing their craft in a way that doesn't succumb to the fast fashion industry. So, tune in to this week's podcast to listen to Richa and Charuka talk about the world of fashion and why it's important for us as a society to not lose touch with our roots. Quang has been running his own gallery for quite some time now. He shares his process of choosing an artist and their artwork. While a painting can sometimes click, most of the time, his job revolves around seeing and predicting the potential of it all so he can make a decision. Quang also talks about the upside of being a gallerist, which is that he is given the freedom and flexibility to do his work on his own terms, something that does not exist in other fields. On the other hand, for a gallery owner, the paperwork and being behind the desk can be a difficult job. In the midst of it all, Quang tries to find a balance between perceiving things as a businessman and trying to stick to the values he and his gallery represent, which is to promote the inclusion of women and other minorities in the art world. For Quang, working with artists can also be an interesting experience as they feel everything so very deeply. He gets to be a part of their world, and he loves that. As our host Charuka Arora sits down with Tanmaya, the latter talks about the early stages of her art career, what her ambitions and dreams were, and how she was able to evolve and grow over the years. While Tanmaya started as an abstract artist, she shifted her focus to drawing people. Her journey as an artist consists of highs and lows, both of which have played an important role in her growth as a creative.  Just like every other creative, Tanmaya also had her fair share of self-doubts, which she addressed by traveling to various places including Nepal and India. These experiences really helped shift her perspective on what she was or wasn't meant to be. For her, having a full-time art career was not a possibility until she spent some time in India, a time which helped open her eyes to the various possibilities that lay in front of her. Tanmaya believes in putting yourself out there as an artist, as it is only then that you can go through a transformation that will be beneficial to you and your creativity. This week's episode of Arts to Hearts podcast features the second part of our interview with Ki Smith, the owner of Ki Smith Gallery. Our host Charuka Arora and Ki Smith continue their conversation about taking risks, being a successful artist, and how you should always push yourself out of your comfort zone. Ki Smith is also the co-founder of Apostrophe NYC, and all of his ventures have interesting stories behind them! Much of Ki Smith's creative career was built due to his belief in himself. Even when he did not have anything to build his business with, he had faith in his abilities and his community, and he kept moving forward. At every turn of the way, he has aimed big and has gone for an option that would seem impossible to an outsider. Instead of caring about whether something was possible or not, he kept on trying different avenues and paths that would ultimately lead to him building the gallery of his dreams. Now that Ki has his own gallery, and his business is flourishing, he is beginning to think past the much-needed physical expansion of his gallery. Now, Ki wants to focus on an internal expansion as well, where he can be of more help to other artists. His thought process has become more strategic now where he wishes to put artists in a spot for more success. For Ki, having a growth mindset throughout has helped him greatly in achieving what he has today, and for that, he doesn't forget his family and friends. Ki rightly points out the importance of a community, and how it can play a monumental role in your journey, which is why, expanding your contacts and building a community is so crucial for any creative/artist. As long as you have faith in yourself, and are working hard for it, you should be fine. So, tune in to this week's episode to listen to Ki's entire interview! Welcome to the first episode of season 4 of Arts to Hearts Podcast! This week, our host Charuka Arora has invited Ki Smith where he talks about running a business in the art world and how he managed to open his own gallery. This inspirational episode contains some heartwarming stories that Ki shares with the audience, all of which demonstrate how we must do everything in our power to make things happen! Ki Smith, who was born in New York, is the owner of Ki Smith Gallery and also the co-founder of Apostrophe NYC. Ki shares with us his childhood and how he was able to choose this career path in the art industry. From working in galleries as a teen to opening his own gallery in 2019, Ki's journey definitely inspires other artists who want to start their own business. Despite all odds, Ki was able to manifest his dreams into reality by his willpower and determination. Even when he couldn't afford to rent a place, he constantly found ways and means to make it happen, even if meant selling artwork worth $50000 in five days. For Ki, being an artist is something he chose, and for that, he is grateful. He was able to become a successful entrepreneur by working for it. He is a strong believer in pushing your limits and taking risks when you can. After all, it is with such a mindset only that an artist can hope to grow, otherwise, s/he can risk being stuck in the same place for years. Something that stands out from Ki's interview is that he didn't wait for opportunities to knock on his door, rather, he went and explored any avenue that could be advantageous to him. Our podcast with Ki was so instructive, that we'll be releasing it in two parts. On this week's Arts to Hearts Podcast, we have the lovely Marina Granger with us. Our host Charuka and Marina have a very fascinating conversation where they talk about feng shui, morning rituals, EFT tapping, and creating a stellar elevator pitch. Marina is an art consultant and founder of The Artist Advisory. She talks about practicing feng shui, and how her holistic approach has benefitted her in her creative life as well. For Marina, her mornings start with recording a voice memo, which consist of three steps: talking about what she is grateful for, what her intentions for the day are, and what her future dreams are. She talks about her dreams and intentions in present tense, as if they already have happened. According to her, it's a good strategy as the mind is too gullible, and making such affirmations can truly help one achieve their dreams. Marina loves to help artists out so they can realize the best strategy to carve their own path. She provides an excellent take on how artists can curate their elevator pitch, which consists of telling the clients why you do what you do, and what makes you special. In a world where selling your craft and your art can be tricky, it's always a good idea to have a fresh approach towards curating your image!   Born in Ukraine, Marina moved to New York when she was seven. Marina has 15 years of experience working in the museums and galleries in New York City. With a master's degree in Art History, she has worked with artists, curators, dealers, collectors, and consultants. She shares that if she would ever have the option to open her own gallery, it would have to be in New York city! In this week's podcast, our host Charuka Arora sits down with Liz Lidgett, who is the founder and owner of Liz Lidgett Gallery + Design. As the two ladies sit down to talk about their career paths, they have an honest conversation on setting realistic goals, creating a kinder space for artists, and collecting art. Liz Lidgett began her art consultation business ten years ago, and since then, she has worked with artists, businesses, homes, and publications across the country. The reason why she opened her own gallery in the first place was because she was too passionate about the art world, and wanted to rectify the things she saw in it as problematic. For her, the art world is not just about the creating, selling and buying, but also creating a space for artists where they don't feel limited. Most of all, she wants artists to feel respected and welcomed. While Liz grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, she later moved to Los Angeles, which is known to be the art hub. However, she felt that the work she wanted to do would do well in her own community. So, she started her own business in the Midwest which caters to artists from around the world. She was able to identify the things in the industry that she would not like to have in her own business, and now she brings the same passion and excitement to the table that she wants her clients to have. For Liz, her definition of success has changed over the year, and she loves to follow her dreams while being able to spend time with her kids. Liz's experiences over the years have also provided valuable insights into the way she runs her business. For her, dealing with art and artists is not a matter of making a calculated decision, but rather the way she experiences art, and that's why we need more people like her in the art world! So, tune in to this week's podcast and listen to Liz Lidgett talk about how her passion for art drives her to be a source of inspiration for others! Danielle has been an artist for over a decade now, and while she has written books including Creative Block and Collage and Your Inner Critic Is A Big Jerk, she also runs an influential contemporary art blog. Danielle Krysa's other identity came into being as a result of her self-doubts in the beginning of her career. She was scared to show her work to the world and be judged for it as Danielle, and so she curated another identity where she presented her work as The Jealous Curator. Here, she felt safe from all the harsh comments and critiques. Danielle has come a long way now, where over the years, she has found it easier to reconcile her two identities and be confident in her abilities. In this episode, Danielle opens up about losing her father, and finding her voice after that. Losing a parent came with grief and the trauma, and for Danielle, it was a difficult time in her life. For a while, she struggled to return to her creative space to be an artist, and questioned the trajectory of her life. But as she learned to give herself time to heal, she began to re-discover herself. She started to use art as therapy, and slowed down instead of rushing everything. This week on Arts to Hearts Podcast, our host Charuka Arora sits down to have a heart-to-heart with her beloved audience. As our third season nears its end, Charuka is giving the aspiring artists some tips from her own experience in the art world. As someone who has been on her own creative journey for some time now, Charuka has learned a thing or two, and as she looks back on how far she has come, she is guiding other aspiring artists on how they can find their confidence in their abilities as an artist. If Charuka were to start her creative journey today, she would ask herself six questions to make sure she knows where her heart is so she can ensure that her creative journey goes on as smoothly as possible. For Charuka, it's important to put unwavering faith in yourself and your creativity, and for that, you need to ask yourself if you are ready to do that. Furthermore, it's important to understand that hurdles are part of the journey, and that you need to be ready to fall a million times, and get back up every single time. The third thing you need to do as a creative, is to embrace your emotions fully, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable it may feel at that moment. The fourth question you must ask yourself is whether are willing to break free from the fear of judgment. After you have broken free from the societal shackles, you must look within and ask yourself, if you are ready to write your story, as that is the most crucial aspect. And in the end, you must love and accept yourself fully, and ask yourself, “Can I be unapologetically myself?” This episode is filled with wisdom and some amazing reflection exercises, so tune in to this week's podcast and join Charuka on this exploration of what it means to be an artist!   We are calling women artists from around the globe for our upcoming event, the “101 Art Book Contest", which aims to boost recognition, fame, and exposure for female artists. In this podcast, Leizel and Pegah talk about how they both decided to use their expertise to create a joint social enterprise and how challenging it has been for them to find financial stability. For Leizel and Pegah, the number one objective from day one has always been to create a platform for supporting women and non-binary artists. That's why, every decision they have taken so far has been made to further that cause. Liezel and Pegah also had their own individual life experiences that had a huge role in influencing them to support women in arts. However, their journey has been beset by its own challenges as they navigated through the art world. Liezel launched Art Girl Rising in 2018 in order to support the female artists in the industry. On the other hand, Pegah Kargar was on her own path, where after a decade of being in the finance industry, she entered the art industry and founded Repaint History in 2018. This week on our Arts to Hearts Podcast, our host Charuka Arora invites Carrie Pearce to talk about her artworks. Carrie, who is a passionate painter, discusses how her art has evolved in the past few years, and how she overcame her creative block. Carrie's artwork mainly comprises of portraits and paintings of dolls. Her art style is very reminiscent of the 16th century art with its realism and focus on human form. Recently, she has somewhat changed her artistic expression by incorporating materials such as beads, fabric, embroidery etc. in her paintings. Her transition came after COVID, after she went through a massive creative block. However, she managed to find her path again, and since then, has been creating some truly magnificent art pieces.   Over the past few years, Carrie has undergone struggles of her own as she transitioned through her artistic expressions. However, she has embraced this change with open arms, and welcomes art collectors who also appreciate her evolving style. Talking about her childhood, Carrie recalls painting and drawing for as long as she can remember. From being inspired by Ann Adams to being fascinated by DaVinci's art, her styled can be described as ‘imaginary realism'. She sees her art as ‘emotional portraits' that are inspired by turn of the century photos that we often find at antique stores. He fell in love with music shortly after birth and started playing the bass at the age of 10. He moved to Nashville in 1977, and after early gigs with Sleepy LaBeef, Billy Joe Shaver and Guy Clark, joined Don Williams' band. Dave toured and recorded with Williams for 14 years, which eventually led to a freelance career as a studio bassist and independent producer. He has played bass on more than 500 albums with artists like Elton John, Alan Jackson, Keith Whitley, Trisha Yearwood, Earl Scruggs, Emmylou Harris and The Chieftains. Dave has performed live in concert and on television with many major artists such as Steve Winwood, John Fogerty, Willie Nelson, Chet Atkins, Duane Eddy, Earl Klugh, and Dr. John. In 1997 Dave was voted ‘Bassist of the Year’ at the Nashville Music Awards. As a solo artist, bandleader, and producer, Dave has released 14 projects on his own label, Earwave. In 1999, he created and hosted the radio series “Nashville Unlimited," for Nashville Public Radio which featured "live in the studio” performances and interviews with a wide variety of Nashville's finest singers, songwriters, and musicians. He has continued that tradition with his annual “Nashville Unlimited Christmas” concert, CDs and radio broadcasts, all of which benefit Nashville’s “Room In the Inn” homeless program, for whom Dave has raised over $100,000 since 1992. A featured columnist for Bass Player Magazine since 1995, Dave has also contributed as a writer to various books about bass playing and the music business. Dave was elected to a three-year term as President of the Nashville Musicians Association, AFM Local 257 in December 2008. He is also a board member of Leadership Music, The Academy of Country Music, Bass Player Magazine and The International Recording Musicians Association. In Dave's own words... Episode Highlights About Her Book Ally's book, Finding Your Harmony, talks about her life growing up in a Mexican-American household and the adversities she had to face to achieve her dreams. Selena is Ally's biggest inspiration in music. For Ally, Selena’s success as a woman and as an artist is amazing. A Pivotal Moment One of the most memorable moments was when she and her mom cried together in an apartment. That moment fueled her to reach for her dreams When Ally was young, she felt like an outsider and inadequate to other people. She says that it was one of her mom’s hardest days as a parent. The day after, she wrote her first ever song called, "To Be You" as a love letter for herself. On Giving Young Kids Hope Through her book, Ally wants to inspire the younger generation who feel like they're not good enough. She wants them to know that there is hope, and they can overcome anything. She says that their emotions are valid, and they're not alone. Ally thinks that you will always come out of your pain stronger than ever before. Navigating Crossroads Ally had many moments of rejection and hopelessness before she was able to succeed. In her book, she shares some things that “almost happened” in her career. Ally still can't believe she was able to overcome so many struggles. She believes it changed her for the better and gave her more reasons to persevere in life. She reminds us not to give up and that the best is yet to come. Why Support Is Important For Ally, Hispanic and Latin families can be best described in four words: family, faith, food, and love. Ally's family had to make a lot of sacrifices to help her career. For her, she owes everything to her parents. Everyone is trying to find a community that empowers and uplifts them. Helping and encouraging someone else always lead to moments of beautiful bonds and friendships. You begin to build your community by being there for others. Supporting others can help you find your path. Turning This Year’s Challenges into Opportunities Ally describes 2020 as a dynamic year. Due to the coronavirus, she had to cancel her tour which saddens her. Ally still believes that she would get back to the stage soon. She sees this pause as an opportunity to spend time with her family and friends and to take care of herself. The break allowed Ally more time to work on her music and shoot her first ever film. Listening to Your Inner Voice Amid the Pandemic Ally encourages everyone to stay patient and have faith. God has a plan in everyone's lives. Hardships come to strengthen the faith inside of you. You're not alone. It's okay to cry and question. Your pain is validated. There is hope amid so much darkness. 5 Powerful Quotes from This Episode [11:22] “As a young child, you should just be enjoying your life, enjoying being a kid, you know? And not feeling all this insecurity, and all these feelings of, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm not good enough for my clothes, don't look like their clothes, or my teeth are crooked, and I'm not pretty because they have perfect teeth.’” [28:44] “When you finally get to a place where you see the light, and it's shining on you, you feel that warmth, that of being in dark and cold for so long is phenomenal. And I owe it all to them. I owe everything to my parents.” [30:54] “When you're there for other people, beautiful things can happen. And that could lead to such a beautiful road of friendships and relationships.” [38:25] “God has a plan for you in your life. And sometimes we have to endure the storm, we have to endure the desert, but many times, God will just take care of you and he will get you out of that place.” [39:18] “But know that you have so much inside of yourself that can get through anything—that you're powerful, you're brave, it's okay to cry, it's okay to question. It's also okay to be strong, and to try to be positive, and to feel the way that you want to feel, but just know that there is a plan that you will see the rising sun again. That there is hope in the midst of so much darkness.” About Ally Ally Brooke is an American singer and a former member of the girl group Fifth Harmony. Author of the bestselling book, “Writing From Your Heart: Tapping the Power of Your Inner Voice,” Nancy’s approach to creative writing is a path to healing the self. She shows us how to reverse the damaging effects done to writers in school, where red pens and disciplined grammar taught many of us to mistrust our natural ability as storytellers. Explore together how to honor your voice by developing a writing practice. Learn to write in your own rhythms. Discover how to find your personal language and write your own stories. Of course, not to be missed, how to hush those die-hard inner critics and unthaw from years trying to “be correct.” As Nancy says, “I don’t think anyone can really teach writing. In this episode, we're talking about intuition, also known as inner wisdom, inner knowing, true wisdom, consulting your own powers, gut, and heart. These are all ways to talk about the inner voice that we all have within us.  You may be intimately familiar with the feeling of a gut instinct that hits you out of nowhere, but you may not know that you don't need to wait for that gut instinct to kick in. You can actively dialogue with your intuition to get the answer that's right for you in that moment. In this episode, I show you how.  Resources mentioned: How to Connect with Your Inner Voice from Jess Lively Books: Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, Thrive by Arianna Huffington, The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron, Active Dreaming by Robert Moss, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho Pique Coaching Workbook: Nine prompts designed to help you harness the combined power of your logical brain and your intuition The Pique Podcast: More self-awareness, focus, + creativity with morning pages

Let's get to know each other, and while you are listening, take a screen shot, tag me @kellyjcovert, and share with your friends! This helps spread the word so more women can listen and learn with In Her Voice! Teacher, facilitator, writer, mentor and change agent, Miranda Sophia is passionate about marrying science and spirituality together. She has a love affair with the wisdom and language of the body and its ability to heal past wounds and reprogram limiting belief systems, as she journeys through her own healing. She believes deeply in the power of women coming together, creating meaningful relationships, weaving a support net of sisterhood, and lifting one another to their highest potentials. Perhaps more importantly, she feels that the magic and power is really found in each individual woman learning how to be sovereign and autonomous, how to be with herself fully, how to have her own back and to know the necessity of her voice in this world.   Miranda Sophia currently facilitates women’s healing & empowerment retreats, bi-monthly women’s circles, offers one-on-one Divine Human Embodiment Mentorship, online group education and exploration, and teaches Chakra Balancing yoga, yoga nidra & meditation classes. Her first book, Her Art of Surrender, which is co-authored with 19 other women from around the world, will be published in fall 2018. Miranda channels her creative flow through writing and handcrafting vibrationally attuned + intention infused malas. She also is passionate about Young Living Essential Oils, their healing power on the mind, body and spirit, and growing her YL team towards financial abundance and freedom.   Here are a few of the big topics we talked about: Kelly introduces Miranda Sophia. Miranda’s truest form of surrender came in the form of a meltdown at a chakra therapy training. Miranda’s meltdown. The ladies discuss why many of us resist moving through our emotions. The regulation cycle and how it affects our emotions. Instead of being full with our self, we look to outside things to fill us up. The word crazy, and how we’re all a little nuts. When you step into your craziness, it can be one of the most liberating moments. Shame and feeling like we’re inantely bad. We must stop spiritually bypassing ourselves, and actually work through the things affecting us. Our nervous system can act like a wire that is frayed, and our a-ha moments become the bridge to reconnect things. All of our stories have 3 Acts. Your Inner Voice doesn’t have to be mean, there is a kind Inner Voice inside of you. Having a daily practice can help you feel more connected when you wake up feeling off. The Five Myths Morning pages and journaling and how these can be effective ways to move clear out your head when it is feeling cluttered. Yoga Nidra Kelly gets raw and honest and shares her fear around being considered lazy. Our Inner Voice can be mean, but it exists to protect us - we must find a way to build an intimate relationship with it. Miranda shares what her Inner Voice is asking of her.   In Miranda’s Voice:   “Our body, it's a wave. It's a wave that rises up and then it discharges and then it comes back down. That's the natural cycle of our nervous system. That's called regulation in the somatic world.”   “We go outside of ourselves to hold on to things, people. We reach outside to fill ourselves with the foods, or the drugs, or the social media, or the whatever that hit is to temporarily numb that sensation.”   “When we have a dysregulated nervous system or when we have this abundance of charge or we have this lack of boundary and sense of where we begin, where we end, that is what creates a sensitive person and an empath.”   "Holy, fuck. We are all crazy. We are all batshit nuts, and we are all literally just dying our way through life, suffering our way through life trying to prove to somebody, to ourselves that's not true."   “Shame has the underlying story that there's something wrong with me. If we feel like there's something wrong with me or that I'm innately bad.”   “We say that babies are born pure, but we're born into a specific story already, that may not show right when we are born, but it will unfold.”   “Getting movement and fluidity and softness back into my body, because for me, when I'm in that rigid state, I'm in that, "Don't see me state."”   “Learning to have this really intimate relationship with our thoughts, with our sensations, with our feelings, and letting them guide us to where it is that we are needing to go, where we're meant to go, where we are being called to go.”   “We are so in our infancy of understanding how to be human, how this world works, how to interact with ourselves and others and have mastery over ourselves. We have this source that is infused in all of us that is just so unconditionally in awe of us.” Connect with Miranda:   Miranda’s Website Miranda’s Book - Her Art of Surrender Facebook Instagram

Your Inner Voice is always there, ready speak – even when you're not ready - or are unable - to hear it. You may doubt yourself and look outward for answers, but your Inner Voice is the only authority you will ever need. If you’re on a personal growth and consciousness-raising journey, at one point or another you will learn to discern the wisdom of your Inner Voice from all the outer influences in your life. We get lessons in day-to-day life.  Sometimes we are given more dramatic, and life-changing examples of how important it is to listen to the wisdom of our Inner Voice.  The number one thing you can do to be self-defined and self-governed is to learn to tune in to its frequency. Your Inner Voice is always there. It’s always ready to speak – even when we are not ready to hear it, or able to listen. One of the first things to understand if you want to access the wisdom of your Inner Voice is the difference between your thoughts, feelings, and emotions. In today’s podcast, I share what I do to gain clarity, so you can use it to determine what is good and right and true for you. Berc's Inner Voice - by Lyn Ragan, illustrated by Alison Meyer Although Berc's Inner Voice comes from a special place, an even more important story is our Back Story. A story that many will not know unless it's shared. It's a story about the survival of loss, continuing to live after a death, following a spiritual path, and being brought together via special circumstances.  Both Alison and Lyn lost their fiance's, the love of their lives, through tragic events. Both were thrown into a sudden sorrow only those who have suffered can fully understand. But they managed somehow to experience their separate pain and eventually were brought together through Social Networking called Facebook. Neither knew the connection that would soon lead them on a path of Creation. In following their hearts, listening to their guidance within, their own Inner Voices, they joined together to create a very special message for children of all ages, "Listen to Your Inner Voice". While listening to their own, they set a remarkable example. They're able to show the world that even in the most painful moments of life, hope knocks on the door when we least expect it. And when we open that door and let the light within shine, the Sky is truly the Limit.  From the guidance of their special loves on the Other Side, Chip Oney and Kirk Strobeck, Berc's Inner Voice is created with Unconditional Love.
