The unraveling tale of Kouri Richins, a Kamas mother of three accused of fatally poisoning her husband, Eric Richins, and subsequently writing a children's book about grieving, has taken another shocking turn. The Summit County Attorney's Office has recently filed a motion to prevent Richins from communicating with her immediate family, suggesting she's attempting to manipulate them into lying for her defense.    On September 14, a search of Richins' jail cell in the Summit County Jail, where she's held without bail facing aggravated murder and drug charges, led to a startling discovery. Hidden inside a book, deputies found a six-page letter apparently written by Kouri to her mother, Lisa Darden. This letter's initial three pages contained directives for Lisa to relay to Ronney Darden, Kouri's brother.    "Reword this however he needs to, to make the point," she emphatically wrote. "Just include it all."    Within the contents of this letter, Kouri seemingly attempts to craft a narrative for her defense. She urges Ronney to inform her defense attorney, Skye Lazaro, of a supposed incident wherein Eric procured drugs, including fentanyl, from a ranch in Mexico. Further, she alleges Eric forced her to transport drugs during their travels, suggesting a plot to frame her if they were caught. Moreover, Kouri claims that Ronney possesses text messages from Eric that revolve around “getting high.”    "Tell him I need him to do this," she implored her mother. "Bring me home and we will get those damn b- - - - - -."    However, in a candid conversation with KPCW, Ronney stated he was unaware of the existence of the controversial letter. While admitting to knowing about Eric's marijuana habits, he firmly declared, “There's no reason to testify falsely—[Kouri] didn't do anything.”    The intrigue doesn't stop there. The letter unveils Kouri's wish for her mother to disseminate pictures of Eric's sister's daughters to various media entities. It appears that Kouri wanted to shift public sentiment, noting that she had friends scheduled to appear on Good Morning America. Coordinated by Lazaro, these friends were poised to discuss Eric's alleged pill consumption and portray his sisters as envious adversaries.    Kouri's perspective? “This comes down to jealousy, money, and Eric's partying that they don't want to acknowledge and sadly an accidental overdose,” she alleged.    As the motion reveals, another twist arose: prosecutors highlight an alleged video call between Kouri and Lisa on September 13. During the call, Kouri reportedly showed her mother another letter. The whereabouts of this letter remain unknown, with prosecutors speculating, “There is a strong inference that the September 13, 2023 letter was destroyed or flushed.”    Lazaro's response was swift. Accusing the prosecutors of violating a gag order, she vehemently objected to the public disclosure of the September 14 letter. To Lazaro, this move by the state felt akin to a direct leak to the media. She emphasized the envelope that contained the letter was marked "Skye Lazaro (Attorney privilege)", hinting at a potentially illicit search by the state. The defense claims that by unveiling the letter, the prosecutors aimed to sway public perception, further pointing out past instances where the state inadvertently shared Kouri's sensitive information.    The defense's demands are clear: Enforce the gag order, potentially remove the letter from the docket, and hold the state in contempt of court.    Additionally, concerns about Kouri's health have emerged. On September 12, just days before the cell search, she was hospitalized. The reason remains undisclosed, but according to Ronney, a medication mix-up in the Summit County Jail led to her health scare.    With the court recently issuing subpoenas for Kouri's medical records and the jail's surveillance footage, the next stages of this trial promise more revelations. Kouri Richins' next court appearance is slated for November 3, potentially setting the stage for a preliminary hearing.    As this engrossing case continues, the stakes for all involved escalate. The quest for truth amidst a web of allegations, potential manipulations, and heartfelt emotions ensures that Summit County's trial remains under a relentless spotlight..  Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Ever run into deponents who pretend they don't understand even the simplest questions? Of course you have. (Who hasn't?) Today, Jim Garrity explains why you might not want to continue rewording questions for such slippery deponents, instead using their sham "confusion" against them to attack their credibility (or even to seek sanctions).SHOW NOTESSkyline Advanced Tech. July 30, 2020) (“Shafer responded to a strikingly large number of questions posed to her by stating that she did not understand the question (some of which were so clear and simply phrased that it strains credulity to imagine that she in fact did not understand the question”; further recommending dismissal as a sanction because “Shafer's willful destruction of evidence combined with her unfortunate behavior at her deposition have effectively frustrated the public's interest in the expeditious resolution of this case, as well as the court's need to effectively manage its docket, thus, these factors weigh in favor of granting the requested sanction of dismissal”)Donelson v. Hardy, 931 F.3d 565, 568 (7th Cir. 2019) (affirming dismissal of lawsuit based in part on plaintiff's unjustified claims that he did not understand deposition questions; court described Donelson's responses as “evasive and argumentative answers” enhanced by “dishonesty and false obtuseness”)Mewborn v. Abbott Lab'ys, No. CV-188732-DSF-PLAX, 2019 WL 8060095, at *1 (C. D. Cal. It might get worse tomorrow and we need a future for our kids to grow in the knowledge of the Lord. Think about it. There is so much here when we begin to look at this command stated in the positive. However, while our society talks a lot about these things, churches are sometimes sheepish here. That is tragic since God is the One who designed us for intimacy - physical and spiritual. This commandment is not just for married couples. It equally applies to singles, young and old, and all walks of life. So, why is this so important to God? Discussion Questions Share about one of your favorite things from the past that now you could take it or leave it. Did you ever discover something (like Kool-Aid) that made you say, “Where has THIS been all my life!?” prude (despising our physicality) Jesus sees that our physical bodies can dramatically affect our spiritual life. (Matthew 5:29-30) What are some extreme ways we can discipline our bodies to align with our spiritual calling? Is this realistic? Plato said, "the body is the prison house of the soul." But Job 19:25-27 speaks about the redemption of our "flesh.” How should that affect how we view physical intimacy now? Quickly read Song of Solomon 5 or 7. If you were discussing this in a poetry class, what tone does it have? What are some of the overt images invoked? Why do you think this is in the Bible? What would we miss if it were omitted? permissive (deifying our physicality) Reword 1 Corinthians 6:12-18 as if you were explaining it to someone who has lived freely with their body. According to Paul what is the main purpose of physical intimacy? Reword verses 19-20 as if you were encouraging someone who has misused this good gift. Popular love songs speak of finite human love as if it is infinite or cosmic. How is this directly opposite from the notion that physical intimacy is "just an appetite"? What more is going on, beyond biological impulses? The term for "lust" in Matthew 5:28 means "over-desire" (epithumia). How does lust differ from love? GK Chesterton said: "the man who knocks on the door of a brothel is looking for God." Do you agree or is this too abstract? What are some modern examples that complement this quote? Why did Adam and Eve hide and cover after they ate the fruit? (Genesis 3:7) Physical intimacy is supposed to be a good gift, so what gets in the way of our deep desire to know and be known? Talk about the relationship between vulnerability and intimacy; are they one in the same? Throughout the Bible, God repeatedly invokes the image of sexual intimacy to refer to his relationship with his people (Ezk.16;23; Hosea 1-2; Jer.3:1; Rev.2:4). Why is the failure of romantic relationships one of the most intense pains we can experience; when there's betrayal, rejection, or unfaithfulness? real intimacy What is God's intent for human intimacy? (Genesis 2:24-25) In light of our tendency to distrust, can we ever have mutual openness and acceptance? With how many are you able to reach this level of relationship? Why would most of us say “few to none” as opposed to “a lot, no more thank you”? Why can't we all just love each other mutually like we all desire? God's love is described as “steadfast” in the OT, which connotes strong commitment. In 2 Timothy 2:13, Paul wrote "if we are faithless, he remains faithful..." What does it take to love someone who doesn't deserve it? GOSPEL - Though we were unfaithful, he was faithful. He was stripped-naked and vulnerable on the cross, so our shame could be covered. He gave his whole self away, though we were half-hearted. This is the cosmic love we've been looking for! Here is the infinite joy! There is only One who has loved you from before you were born (Jer.1:5; Eph.1:4). How can his faithfulness transform your faithlessness? Share in terms of your relationship with God and with other people.

Jack Butala:                         Jack Butala with Jill DeWit. Jill DeWit:                            Hi there. Jack Butala:                         Welcome to our show today. In this episode Jill and I talk about no need for a real estate agent to buy or sell any property type, any property type. Jill DeWit:                            Any property type? Jack Butala:                         You don't need ... Jill DeWit:                            Any property type. Jack Butala:                         ... a real estate agent. Imagine that. I love this topic. It's Jill week by the way. Jill chose all these topics. Jill DeWit:                            Thank you. Jack Butala:                         Before we get into it, let's take a question posted by one of our members on LandAcademy.com. It's our online community and it's free. Jill DeWit:                            In a minute I'll tell you my real title here for this because I like it. Okay. Robert asked, "On location based sales sites like Craigslist and Facebook, do you only post your property for sale in the area it is located? For example, if you have an Arizona property would you just post it on an Arizona Craigslist?" Jack Butala:                         No. I would post it in Los Angeles, I would post it in anywhere you think someone would be interested in buying property in Arizona, which is everywhere. Jill DeWit:                            Back east. Jack Butala:                         Craigslist specifically ... Yeah some real stringent rules about posting the exact same thing, the exact same posting, and I mean exact, in multiple areas. You have to change the ad up. You have to change a posting pretty dramatically to pass their tests. Reword it, you can't copy and paste almost anything. I talk about it in our land program that there's a product that we do really well with called Vacation Properties. For instance, Northern Michigan we sell property- you would never post a Northern Michigan property in a- you would do it, but in addition to that you would post it in the Chicago Craigslist and the Detroit because people vacation up there. Same thing with Florida. People buy Florida property all up and down, they live up and down in the East Coast. To clearly answer your question Robert, no. I would post it all over the place, wherever you can. I don't have as much experience with Facebook ads. I mean a lot of experience with Facebook ads, but not as much with Facebook Marketplace specifically where it's five or eight or 10 or 50 or I think even 100 miles out. It's brand new and I'm more about doing this show and some other things than posting properties these days. Jill DeWit:                            It's true. Jack Butala:                         Our members are telling us that Facebook Marketplace is an awesome place to sell property. Jill DeWit:                            Right. In the groups, there's a lot of groups. Jack Butala:                         Facebook groups. Jill DeWit:                            There's a lot of groups that not only are the groups about those vacation properties, but they might be other investors and things like that. Great place to post property in Facebook groups. Jack and I, you could hit a couple hundred thousand people in a Facebook blast for free in 10 minutes. It's not hard at all. Jack Butala:                         Yeah. Our combined reach is in the millions. Jill DeWit:                            That takes about 20 minutes. Jack Butala:                         Yeah. [crosstalk 00:02:51] We have LandPin set up, which is our land website where members sell stuff and we do too.
