Retro, a private photo-sharing app, identified significant similarities between its platform and a new feature in Google Photos called "My Week." The feature first appeared in a post on X and encourages users to document and share their week in a format akin to Retro's approach. Ryan Olson, Retro's co-founder and CTO, pointed out the resemblance on X, referencing an Android Authority report that Google Photos plans to launch "My Week" soon. Google confirmed "My Week" as an invite-only experiment designed to help users share memories but did not comment on the similarities. Nathan Sharp, CEO of Retro, acknowledged the resemblances but emphasized Retro's focus on privacy, no ads, and unique features like collaborative journals and photo postcards. Retro is also developing new options like a widget for iOS and direct sharing with "keyholders."Learn more on this news visit us at: https://greyjournal.net/news/ Hosted on Acast. Santigold - "High Priestess" from the 2022 album Spirituals on Little Jerk. Santigold returns with a vengeance for Spirituals, her first new full-length in six years. She explains in a press release, "I loved the idea of calling it Spirituals because it touched on the idea of Negro spirituals, which were songs that served the purpose of getting Black people through the un-get-throughable. In the absence of physical freedom, spirituals have traditionally been music whose sound and physical performance allow its participants to feel transcendental freedom in the moment. That's what this record did for me." Today's Song of the Day came out of a collaboration with Ray Brady and Boys Noize, with additional creative contributions from Psymun and Gayngs' Ryan Olson. Adversary playbooks as a cybersecurity first principle strategy. They told us the adversary has an asymmetric advantage; that cyber defense has to be right every time while the offense only has to get it right once. Rick proves that proactive defense and adversary playbooks can flip that dynamic on its head. With the world of cyber defense and threat intelligence upside down, Rick and the Hash Table discuss the history of shifting the offense/defense balance, the three components of a proactive defense, and the evolution of adversary playbooks and the intrusion kill chain. with Rick Howard, the CyberWire's CSO and Chief Analyst, joined by Ryan Olson, the Palo Alto Networks VP on Threat Intelligence (Unit 42). In this episode (originally recorded in November of 2021) we speak with Palo Alto Networks, VP of Threat Intel, Ryan Olson. Ryan helps define what threat intelligence actually is and how to get started building a program. He aptly reminds us that producing threat intel for the sake of threat intel is a waste of time. More importantly you first have to ask yourself, “Who's going to be using this information?”.Tweetables“Producing threat intel for the sake of threat intel is a waste of time. What you should be doing is thinking ‘Who's going to take the information that I have produced and use that to make a better decision?' Because that's the goal of threat intelligence, to help a system, or a person, or a team, or a company make better decisions that will help secure them better.” — Ryan Olson [0:04:24]“If I could give people one recommendation, if you can get access to your SSL traffic so that you can decrypt it and you can inspect it, you will have a much better chance at detecting bad stuff in your network than you would without it.” — Ryan Olson [0:29:58]Links Mentioned in Today's Episode:Ryan Olson on LinkedInUnit 42Unit 42 on TwitterUnit 42 Palo Alto Networks CareersComprehensive, full-stack cloud security Secure infrastructure, apps and data across hybrid and multi-cloud environments with Prisma Cloud.

The SolarWinds Orion SUNBURST exploit forced organizations to determine whether and to what extent they’d been compromised. It’s not enough to eject the intruders and their malware from the networks. Affected organizations also need to know what systems and data had been breached, and for how long. The adversary behind SUNBURST is advanced, quietly breaching the perimeter and moving freely to access, steal, or destroy business-critical data, and to disrupt operations.
