One day a farmer is working in his field when he stumbles upon an unusual skeleton. Soon the children are passing around a demonic claw, growing strange patches of skin, assaulting women and committing murder. It's got violence. It's got giant swords. It's got adults cast as children. It's got unnecessary face slapping. And we are discussing all of it. Enjoy!
It is October, the high (un)holy season for horror fans everywhere. To keep with the chilling atmosphere we are going to be talking about Satanism! Specifically, Satanic cults and how they are represented in film in comparison to what Modern Satanism really is along with insight from practicing Satanist, Jessie Seitz, co-creator and director of the documentary on extreme horror, Beyond Horror. The films up for discussion will be Ti West’s The House of the Devil (2009) and the 1971 film The Blood on Satan’s Claw. Enjoy and welcome to our dark side... 1951's The Strange Door had the talents of Charles Laughton in the lead but Universal hung their hopes on Boris Karloff to bring audiences in despite Karloff's smaller supporting role. His name and photo appear prominently in all the advertising as does Robert Louis Stevenson, who wrote the short story the film is based on. Stevenson and Karloff had had a previous success in 1945 with the film The Body Snatcher. Your hosts Dan and Vicky discuss the Joseph Pevney directed horror thriller but also on tap are some recently seen films including Downtown Abbey, Joker, Horror Noire, Blood on Satan's Claw, and Pain and Glory. TV shows include The Unicorn, Eastsiders, and American Horror Story. No need to knock. Come on in to Hot Date: The Strange Door. Leave us some feedback and visit our website at hotdatepod.com

THE BLOOD ON SATAN'S CLAW was released in 1971 by Tigon Pictures, a short-lived competitor of Hammer and Amicus in the late 1960s and early '70s. It stars Peter Wymark (REPULSION) and Linda Hayden (TASTE THE BLOOD OF DRACULA) and was directed by Piers Haggard. In a field in 17th century England a local farmhand plows up the rotting corpse of a strange creature. Although the older towns people fear something sinister might be at play the youth seem intrigued by the discovery. Angel Blake (Hayden) finds a claw in the field and starts to assert a strange power over her classmates... Get ready to recite the Dark Lord's Prayer – we're going to Black Mass! It's in the name of our show, but for the first time hosts Simone, Daniel, Tabitha, and special guest Jack Matirko take you behind the scenes of planning and performing Satanic rituals. Why is ritual such an important part of Satanism, especially atheistic Satanism? Is it the robes? The human sacrifice? Mm, probably the robes. Plus, we discuss why exorcisms are "on the rise," and we try to figure out how to best store blocks of frozen pigs' blood. Happy Halloween, everyone! We've got a especially spooky episode for you tonight - we take a look back at a vintage piece of British folk horror, Tigon Productions' The Blood on Satan's Claw from 1970. Despite having some terrific performances, production values and atmosphere to spare (as well as possibly the most metal title in the history of horror films), we find ourselves grappling with its muddy and indistinct plot. 35 mins
We're back after an unexpected hiatus! This week we cover the 70's Tigon classic: The Blood on Satan's Claw! We go through this grimy witchcraft world in close detail.

The final installment of our inaugural (and final?) Four Week of Shrieks comes to us courtesy of good friend of the show, Vishnu. Blood on Satan's Claw is unlike anything else we've watched this month, but is that a good thing or a bad thing? This tale involves a group of sinister teenagers, helping Satan rebuild himself by collecting body parts from locals. Wasn't that also the plot from The Twelfth Night? Now that we're at the end of October, we'd love to hear what you thought of our attempts to talk horror and the truncated format of our recent shows, so drop us a line at marriedwithclickers@gmail.com or 206-338-0793
Bonsoir.
It's become a tradition: around Halloween, The Boys Outta Brooklyn always pick three horror films you might not have considered when planning your movie marathons for the spookiest holiday of all, and now that tradition comes to Earth-2.net! Derrick chooses three films from the 70s including one of Steven Spielberg's first, and a creepy Guignol tale featuring a young Jodie Foster. And Tom chooses such gems as a high school ghost story, and a "documentary" that follows an aspiring serial killer as he plans his night of grue! It's a six-pack of sinister ideas -- plus some suggestions for a second feature to make those choices even more fun -- so get to clicking!
