Pseudoscientific belief that Earth was created just ten thousand years ago

Jesus affirmed the creation of Adam and Eve, the flood, Abraham, and even Lot and his wife. And Jesus was even a young-earth creationist!
Episode 2.2In this Think Tank Thursday (T3) episode, we dive into one of the most debated words in Genesis 1—yom, the Hebrew word for “day.” Can a faithful, text-driven reading of Scripture support the idea that the creation “days” were long periods rather than 24-hour intervals? Michael and Zach unpack the linguistic range of yom in the Old Testament and address common objections to the Day-Age view. Drawing from grammar, context, and biblical usage—including examples from Genesis, Psalms, Hosea, and Deuteronomy—they show that yom is more flexible than often assumed. We also respond to key Young Earth Creationist arguments from Exodus 20 and Romans 5, clarify the nature of Genesis 1 as theological narrative, and explain why recognizing the genre and language limitations of ancient Hebrew strengthens—not weakens—biblical authority. Welcome to the third episode in a series called “The Failures of Old Earth Creationism.” Many Christians attempt to fit old earth ideology into their beliefs, adopting uniformitarian or evolutionary pieces into their worldview. While this is often done in an effort to appeal to science, it can cause major logical, scientific, and theological issues. Lake Suigetsu is a large lake located near the coast of the Sea of Japan with a depth of about 34 meters at its center. Old Earth Creationists claim that the sediments from this lakebed absolutely show that the Earth is at least 50 thousand years old. What evidence are these scientists looking at that supposedly provide ironclad proof that the Young Earth Creationist model is wrong? In today’s episode we’ll explore the evidence in an effort to uncover “The Truth About Lake Suigetsu,” dismantling the poor science that causes many well-meaning individuals down a path that only leads to error. Join host Trey Bowling and Dr. Jake Hebert as they discuss this topic on episode 95 of The Creation Podcast. Resources: Ice Cores Episode
Hans Madueme is a Young-Earth Creationist. In this conversation, the goal was not to come to an agreement about the age of the earth but instead to understand one another better, find common ground, and explore the points of disagreement with curiosity and friendliness. Hans explains his views of where the Bible has a clear message and where he sees the limits of science in explaining things that contradict those messages. In this Episode Matthew will address statements made in an episode promoting Young Earth Creationism, see link 1. The podcast is Macrophage Strategy and the host, Ben, did appear on Still Unbelievable! in episode 86, see link 2. Ben does make reference to some specific scientific ideas in his episode, and in each case there will be links, so please do make use of them when doing your own checking. The bottom line is this, Ben's points are understandable but fatally flawed and display how fundamentalist mindsets harm our ability to think critically. Young earth creationism makes terrible assumptions about our world and this is why the four reasons Ben presents are very bad reasons to be a YEC. 1) original episode https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/macrophagestrategy/episodes/Ep--2---Four-Reasons-to-be-YEC-e1h0o2u 2) Ben on Still Unbelievable! https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/still-unbelievable/episodes/Episode-86---In-conversation-with-A-Young-Earth-Creationist-e1sdcp8 3) Archimedes destroyed the Roman fleet at the siege of Syracuse https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/0143-0807/13/6/004/meta https://www.historynet.com/the-siege-of-syracuse-a-roman-general-vs-a-greek-genius/ 4) Kim dynasty myths https://www.nzherald.co.nz/world/top-10-myths-north-koreans-are-told-about-leader-kim-jong-un/HW4M2UQJJWWJ4GCECDHGEHJ33I/ 5) Contradictions in Resurrection and Ascension https://www.learnreligions.com/jesus-resurrection-and-ascension-contradictions-250145 6) Two books https://scriptureandscience.museumofthebible.org/gods-two-books 7) Hermeneutics https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/hermeneutics/ https://www.cambridge.org/core/books/abs/understanding-hermeneutics/introduction-what-is-hermeneutics/FB1290B7101F13F9EED6DE7F4A15B5EC https://academic.oup.com/book/740/chapter-abstract/135397603?redirectedFrom=fulltext https://www.oxfordbibliographies.com/display/document/obo-9780190221911/obo-9780190221911-0125.xml 8) Understanding context and intention https://philosophy.institute/epistemology/introduction-hermeneutics-art-interpretation/#:~:text=One%20of%20the%20central%20tenets%20of%20hermeneutics%20is,broader%20circumstances%20in%20which%20a%20text%20was%20created. 9) Eisegesis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eisegesis 10) Context of Genesis 1 https://bible.org/seriespage/1-analysis-and-synthesis-genesis https://www.publicchristianity.org/the-purpose-of-genesis-1-an-historical-approach/ 11) Standard model and Special Relativity https://atomparticles.com/why-is-the-standard-model-incompatible-with-general-relativity/ https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rsta.2015.0260 To contact us, email: reasonpress@gmail.com our YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@reasonpress2901 Our Theme Music was written for us by Holly, to support her and to purchase her music use the links below: https://hollykirstensongs.com/ https://hollykirsten.bandcamp.com/

In this episode I will be talking more about how to debate Creationists. I have taken this topic on in the past, in my original episode on how to debate Creationists, and I have also interviewed well known evolutionary scientist Dr. Niles Eldredge who was one of the founders of the Punctuated Equilibrium theory of evolution alongside Stephen J. Gould. Today I will be interviewing someone who I saw debating Kent Hovind a leading Young Earth Creationist. The debate was not what one comes to expect from these affairs and was more like a courtroom interrogation than the usual grandstanding and Gish Galloping that one might expect from a Creationist debate. Let's see if we can all learn something. Mr. Anderson is a practicing Canadian lawyer who focuses on litigation. Having spent years in and out of the courtroom cross-examining witnesses and analyzing arguments, he has recently turned his talents on proponents of pseudoscience and dogmatic thinking on the internet. He is most well known for his attacks on creationists such as Kent Hovind, and has recently started a YouTube channel where he breaks down the techniques he uses to force evasive and pugnacious individuals to come to grips with facts and arguments that they would prefer to ignore. His style, for those of you who have never seen his videos, is very reminiscent of a cross examination, so his debates look very different from what you are likely used to seeing online, and he joins us here today. In this episode Matthew reviews a Creationist podcast that gives tips on how to debate evolution with an atheist. The podcast is from the Think Institute, by Joel Settecase, who is a Young Earth Creationist. We reviewed Joel's justification of this position back in Episode 80. In this episode, Joel has conversations with atheists with the intention of picking holes in evolution. There is some low quality dialogue in the exchanges, so Matthew will also be criticising things that are said to Joel, this won't be a one sided critique. 1) https://thethink.institute/ 2) Episode 80 https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/Ra7ULmbZ2Eb 3) https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/22-how-to-debate-evolution-with-an-atheist/id1462722483?i=1000582330068 4) EAAN: //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolutionary_argument_against_naturalism 5) EAAN Refuted https://stephenlaw.blogspot.com/2012/12/plantingas-evolutionary-argument.html 6) https://humanorigins.si.edu/education/how-do-we-know/how-do-we-know-humans-are-primates 7) https://www.darwinproject.ac.uk/letter/?docId=letters/DCP-LETT-13230.xml 8) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punctuated_equilibrium 9) https://royalsocietypublishing.org/toc/rsfs/7/5 10) http://www.talkorigins.org/faqs/polystrate/trees.html To contact us, email: reasonpress@gmail.com Our Theme Music was written for us by Holly, to support her and to purchase her music use the links below: https://hollykirstensongs.com/ https://hollykirsten.bandcamp.com/ --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/still-unbelievable/message

EPISODE #976 BEFORE GENESIS Richard speaks with a writer/researcher about the debate raging between the "Old Earth" and "Young Earth" Creationist groups. She demonstrates how archeological sites such as Gobekli Tepe, Tiahuanaco, Baalbek and others point to an intelligent race of beings who existed on Earth before the days of Adam. She'll also discuss what Earth was like during the "without form, and void" era of Genesis 1:2. GUEST: Donna Howell is the current managing editor and writer/researcher for Defender Publishing. She is the best-selling author of Handmaidens Conspiracy, Radicals, Final Fire, Redeemed Unreedemable, and Dark Covenant (with Allie Henson). See the video of this episode here: https://youtu.be/bRCLzMS8Rck Is there evidence for God in the origin of Universe? What were Aristolte's contributions to science? How does a scientist come from a Young Earth Creationist background. Luke Barnes co-authored with Geraint Lewis, of A Fortunate Universe: Life in a Finely Tuned Cosmos published by Cambridge University Press. The book explores the last forty years of scientific evidence that if the Universe had been forged with even slightly different properties, life as we know it - and life as we can imagine it - would be impossible. This has profound implications about how we understand the Universe, from its most basic particles and forces, to planets, stars and galaxies, and back through cosmic history to the birth of the cosmos. Conflicting notions about our place in the Universe are defined, defended and critiqued from scientific, philosophical and religious viewpoints. The authors' engaging and witty style addresses what fine-tuning might mean for the future of physics and the search for the ultimate laws of nature. Luke A. Barnes is a Lecturer in astronomy and cosmology at Western Sydney University. He earned his PhD from the University of Cambridge, he has published papers in the field of galaxy formation and on the fine-tuning of the Universe for life. He is the author, with Geraint Lewis, of "A Fortunate Universe: Life in a Finely Tuned Cosmos" and "The Cosmic Revolutionary's Handbook: (Or: How to Beat the Big Bang)". He is a John Templeton Fellow. He has published papers in the fields of galaxy formation and the fine-tuning of the Universe for life. He has also published papers on the philosophy of science, and regularly engages in public outreach through public speaking, articles in the popular press, and social media. He has modeled galaxy formation in a cosmological context with supercomputer simulations, and connected those simulations to observations with modeling of radiative transfer (particularly Lyman alpha emission and absorption) and realistic models of IFU observations. twitter.com/lukebarnesastro 00:01:57 What is Luke's reaction to the Eric Lerner claim that the JWST proves the big bang never happened? 00:03:35 About the book “A Fortunate Universe” and what is “Fine Tuning” of the Universe? 00:06:11 Is the fine-tuning of the universe required for life? 00:08:00 How can we overcome an anthropic bias to the fine-tuning argument ? 00:13:30 What are some of the most salient principles or physical constants that, if different, would “break” the universe and prevent life from happening? 00:19:05 Is there a convincing argument for a teleological, intelligent creator? 00:24:30 Back to basics, what is this "science thing" anyway? On this episode of the show, Kyle starts off with the third annual Halloween segment- except it's only a 60ish second summary of every Halloween segment that I've ever done on the show. The main segment of the show is going over the Young Earth Creationist view as a part of our Dawn of Time series. This is the first of several weeks in which we'll be talking about different views on creation. Listen along as the veins pop out in Kyle's neck as he tries to convey an unbiased presentation of a theological position he doesn't agree with! To close out the show, we talk about weird things people base their personalities on. Learn Kyle's opinions on Calvinism, coffee & Texas, even though you've probably heard them before!

Besides enjoying in-depth discussion with my friends Paul Pavlik and JP Chavez while we all three listened through it together, this book made me curious to read Augustine's fuller commentary directly. I can't seem to find a copy online, except from AbeBooks.com where a translation in two volumes published by Paulist Press in 1982, and translated by John Hammond Taylor. It's part of a series called Ancient Christian Writers, which sounds terribly interesting. Volume I and II, Books 1-6 and 7-12, is going for $79.16 plus $22.54 to ship to the U.S. from the Netherlands. So perhaps I will hold off for now. I tell you this to help you realize how strongly I feel about Gavin Ortlund writing his treatment of Augustine's commentaries on Genesis from a certain bias against Young Earth Creationists. Being a Young Earth Creationist myself, taking some umbrage is obligatory. Where Ortlund cautions general humility in debates about the meaning of Genesis 1-3, for instance, he seems to come back often to Young Earth adherents especially, like Answers in Genesis and the Institute for Creation Research. But why do Young Earth Creationists especially need humility? And is humility quite the right word with them particularly compared with Old Earth or Evolutionary Creationists? Hazarding a guess, Ortlund is referring less to humility before the text, or humility before God - though that is what Augustine would have meant - and more to humility before the claims of positivist scientists. The unbelieving world in academia holds in derision Young Earth Creationists especially. And anytime Christians generally talk back to or question the godless men and women in white lab coats, we are sneered at, and called "anti-Science." In facing these types especially, then, I can see how a prescription for greater "humility" might reduce friction. But then it is worth noting the whole tone, tenor, and paradigm of Augustine's City of God, which I read last year. And familiarity with that work does indeed make me wonder whether Augustine would be more circumspect about where we find ourselves today were he actually to walk into a room where a Young Earth, Old Earth, and Evolutionary Creationist were debating Genesis 1-3. We all are tempted by virtue of our humanity to think more highly of ourselves than we ought, and to be haughty rather than associating with the lowly. We all, as we gain knowledge and understanding, must actively resist the temptation to be wise in our own eyes. But then my point of view is that mainstream academics are further from the kingdom. And where their de facto scorn for those who take the Bible as being literally true could be interpreted as not associating with the lowly, perhaps there are other kinds of humility needed here besides just humility before the world. These two are related, of course. That we would be humble before God and His Word must translate into genuine humility when relating to other saints and the outside world, to be sure. But so also, confidence in God's Word should not be taken for a lack of humility, even where it leads to more vehement criticisms from the naturalists and materialists. We should admit to a mysterious quality to Genesis 1-3, as Augustine did. And just as he spent decades toiling at trying to explore its many combinations of possible meanings and implications - believing it was true, yet not always being certain what that means - we should not be overhasty to compromise with the claims of mainstream science as if the conversation between us is a one way street, with the men in white lab coats telling us what of our Bibles we can believe or not as they see fit. By all means, let's create two categories. Those who deny the Bible is true on the one hand, and those who debate what that means on the other. In today's episode of the Atheist Experience, Secular Rarity is joined by Dave Warnock.First up is Sebastian from IL who is calling to voice their disagreement with Matt's bodily autonomy abortion argument.Next up is George from MD who is looking for advice for talking to their girlfriend who is a Young-Earth Creationist & biblical literalist. The caller wants to know how to go about approaching them about this subject to potentially start them changing their mind.Next is Karol from Europe who apparently has a certain set of conditions that apparently, somehow, help indicate that heaven and hell “might” be real. Loving these odds so far.Up next is Nikki from OR who is once again calling to tell everyone that they believe in God now after years of being Atheist, but still refuses to answer the host's question regarding why they believe.Vincent from UT is calling to discuss the relationship between humans and our flavor of consciousness, to use Secular Rarity's term, compared to other animals, and whether that flavor is a byproduct of our surroundings or god.Next, Anto from Italy has video evidence of flying people. Honestly wasn't expecting that–– one moment...Up next is Timothy from CA who wants to talk about the widespread misconception that science leads to the truth when all it is is a tested methodology that assists with limiting our biases while investigating reality.
We have a pretty exciting announcement this week: we have our first crew member. Tune in to say hello and fall in love as much as we have. And if you'd like to argue about anything, we're available at 585-526-8774 or tiny.cc/callSG.If you want to see the inside life of Georgie and her two dads, visit her Twitter @TerranCat. ___________________TIME STAMPS & CALL NOTES 00:00 - Intro - Meeting Georgie the One-Eyed Cat06:34 - This Theist Has Questions - Javier (he/him) - FL28:57 - Apologist Wants to Talk About Genesis - Dean (he/him) - VA 1:03:26 - Debunking the Fine Tuning Argument - Allen (he/him) - MI 1:15:00 - Do Atheists Miss Out on Love? - Toby (he/him) - CO 00:00 Introducing her Royal Majesty, Emperor Philippa Georgiou, our newest crew member! She doesn't have opposable thumbs, so she can't do much, but she makes up for it by being adorable. Say hello, and go visit her on her own Twitter account: @TerranCat! 06:34Repeat theist caller Javier has questions about deconverting. How does one do it? Should it be a fast process or a slow one? And how does one avoid circular arguments? Vi and Eric give some hard truths: it's not possible to be fully objective, and you can't really avoid circular arguments. Thanks, laws of logic! But the questions are worth asking anyway. 28:57An apologist calls in to discuss the stories of Genesis, how the hosts view creationism, and whether it's important to be a Young Earth Creationist in order to be a Christian. Vi shares their wild YEC upbringing and the tall tales they were told as a kid. Eric challenges our caller to even more probing questions: what about the Exodus? What about the Walls of Jericho? How much is true at all? 1:03:26This caller wants help debunking the fine tuning argument. How do you respond to theists who try to say the universe proves God? Vi points out that relying on “the odds” is useless without other universes to compare against, and Eric challenges the basis of asking the question in the first place. 1:15:00 Does viewing love as “just a chemical reaction in the brain” cheapen it? Or is it the most romantic thing ever? Evangelical Steven Pynakker interviews Rod Meldrum founder of the FIRM Foundation organization. This conversation/presentation is a response to John Dehlin's Mormon Stories interview of Simon Southerton. Rod gives his response to the interview, talks about a phone conversation he had with John Dehlin, discusses the Universal Model of Creation, being a nuanced Young Earth Creationist, his interest in meeting my previous guest anthropologist Thomas Murphy, and the importance of being able to discuss our differences civilly. It was a real privilege that Rod came on to my program to give his response. I am a self confessed "fan boy" of his so it was really cool to have him on!Link to Simon Southerton interview on Mormon StoriesLink to Rod's Book of Mormon Evidence site
Rapid speciation has always been a cornerstone of Young Earth Creationist belief. If all of the animals we see today are descended from the limited amount of animals on Noah's Ark then rapid speciation must have occurred. See the stunning evidence of this very thing and why it is so challenging to evolutionists and ‘Old Earth' creationists alike.
Can you believe in evolution? Evolutionists say no...Creationists say absolutely, yes. Evolution seems to be the atheist's linchpin. Evolutionary discussion under the guise of anything other than fact, is a deal breaker. So what happens when a believer offers such a claim? Well, episode 033 happens: the good, the bad, and the ugly. We invited Young-Earth Creationist, Tim Chaffey from Answers in Genesis on the podcast to give us his perspective. Tim is the content manager for the Attractions Division of Answers in Genesis. An apologist with a passion for training young people, he speaks regularly at the Creation Museum, camps, schools, and churches, and has authored numerous books. Tim was interested in Miracles and Atheists because he liked the idea of having a good respectful dialogue on these issues. So did he get it? You'll hear soon... Representing the atheist position is Jason Williams. About six months ago, Jason joined us in what most would consider to be a rather productive conversation about prayer, with Christian Robby Graham on episode 019. The show was respectful, light-hearted and we all left our microphones with smiles on our faces. Jason works as an English teacher out of Guatemala where he lives as an expat. He says like America, where he grew up, Central America is plagued by religion. We invited Jason back on the podcast to talk about evolution, because based on his comments from social media he has both a passion for and strong opinions about the subject, and he seemed knowledgeable. Watch video here: https://youtu.be/eXTAKC9LW5c I have the utmost respect for both this man and his wife. Hello all you Truth Seekers and welcome to the first episode of Truth Wanted for this June! This week, P*ck is joined by the one, the only creepy crawly lover, BrainBug!Our first caller tonight is Matt from Maryland who wants to talk about the recent reports of UFO/UAPs. They want to know if our hosts have a possible explanation for what we are seeing in the leaked footage. As we cannot explain what is in the various pieces of footage, it would be irresponsible to then apply an unfounded explanation.Up next is Jason from Rhode Island. They want to talk about the use of possibility and impossibility in debates. To help address the caller’s question, our hosts differentiate between physical and logical possibility/impossibility, and explain the specifics of each.Up next is P*ck’s new rival, Paul from England. The caller believes that they can present the kalam in a non-problematic way. Needless to say, they do not.Our last call for the night is Duane from Florida who has a cousin who is a Young Earth Creationist. BrainBug provides excellent examples to show evolution (Do Not Attempt At Home!), from one species to another in “real-time.” However, family members may not be as openly receptive to direct mentions of the “confrontational” topic, but finding ways of dropping little seeds throughout conversations of shared interests can be very helpful overtime. That was such an amazing episode wasn’t it! We hope you enjoyed it. Until we see you next week, stay safe out there! Goodnight!
Have you ever been put on the spot by a Young Earth Creationist claiming that the universe is only 6,000 years old? How would you respond? Could you muster a coherent line of evidence to support a 13.8 billion year age? If not, The Rational View is here to help. In this episode I provide several independent lines of evidence supporting the age of the universe. Arguments range from radiometric dating of terrestrial and solar system minerals, to measuring the temperature of ancient white dwarf stars: the fading embers of spent suns. When modern science conflicts with a Young Earth Creationist worldview, two common responses are either to deny the science (last week’s topic) or reject the faith. This week, we talk to someone who opted for that 2nd coping strategy. But the person we talked to isn’t just another one of the many people who quietly […]

My guest this week is Joel Berry, the podcast host of the Petty Prophet Podcast. Both his blog of the same name and the podcast are from the Christian believer and politically conservative perspectives. Joel is very much a believer. He had listened to the Graceful Atheist Podcast and was curious enough to initiate a conversation. [Due to fundamentalism] I think that I was teetering, when I was 19, …, and I was deciding which direction to go with my life, teetering in my faith a little bit, and I joined the military, became a Marine Corps infantry man. Within a year I was in Fallujah. [I was] a sheltered kid, [a] home schooled fundamentalist. I am taken out of the [United] States, out of my Christian bubble, and I spent a year in Iraq. … I had a little Bible in my flak jacket that I read when I could. Joel meets me in an honesty contest in which we both push each other but also take the time to listen to one another. I think it makes for a compelling conversation. What compels me about Christianity? I think the first thing was that, and this is experiential … , I was taken out of a Christian world … and I open my Bible and I read the words of Jesus in the Gospel and the words of Jesus really drew me in, there was something about that man that seemed other worldly and amazing to me. Joel experienced a deconstruction from a fundamentalist form of Christianity. He left the IFB. He left a fundamentalist Calvinist theology. But he maintains in his words “a childlike faith.” [I got into] aplogetics, the reasons to believe, the reasons for my faith, but all that stuff it's all arguments, none of it is completely conclusive, and there is still an element of childlike faith involved. This is a 20 Questions with a Believer episode. Joel and I take turns asking each other questions and then crucially allowing the other person to answer. Links Joel on Twitter: https://twitter.com/JoelWBerry The Petty Prophet Blog: https://thepettyprophet.com/ The Petty Prophet Podcast https://thepettyprophet.com/homepage/petty-prophet-podcast/ Interact In the final thoughts section I make reference to this tweet: https://twitter.com/GracefulAtheist/status/1218199410682691594 Joel brings up several episodes he has listened to. Michael Jones is a self-proclaimed idealist and theistic evolutionist who runs a Christian Apologetics project called Inspiring Philosophy. Because I am a Young Earth Creationist, most of our discussion revolved around evolution vs. creationism.
Hugh Owen is the founder and director of the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation. When I recorded this interview I had only recently "come out" as a Young Earth Creationist. We have kept in touch since that time and he is a very patient, kind, and generous man. For more info visit kolbecenter.org
My guest today is Matthew Taylor. Matthew is the host of the Ask an Atheist Anything podcast and the co-host of the Still Unbelievable podcast. He is the primary editor and contributing author of the book Still Unbelievable. His blog is entitled Confessions of a Young Earth Creationist. Matthew's deconversion story includes growing up in the mission fields in Zambia, a young Earth creationist education, the divorce of his parents and dramatic spiritual experiences. Friends began to challenge his rejection of evolution and podcasts began to give him natural explanations for his spiritual experiences. He began to be disappointed in the apologetic arguments as compared to scientific explanations. Deconversion was challenging and Matthew took a long time to tell his wife of his loss of faith. Matthew wants to help others through the deconversion process. He recognizes that it is a lonely process and that what we need most is another human being who has been through it too. "Suddenly I realized I could no longer be a Christian. The suddenly doesn't describe my journey, the suddenly describes my awareness." "If I am there when you deconvert, my response is not 'hallelujah,' my response is 'how are you? Do you need a hug? Do you need a friend?'" Note: Both the Still Unbelievable book and podcast are responses to Justin Brierley's Unbelievable podcast and book. Justin's podcast brings atheists and theists together for debate. Justin is considered an honest moderator. His book's subtitle is Why After Ten Years of Talking with Atheists, I'm Still a Christian. Matthew's and his colleagues' responses take aim at those reasons. In this episode of Meta I explain why I no longer call myself a Young Earth Creationist. It was fun while it lasted.
One of my favorite protestant listeners suggested I reach out to Bob Enyart who kindly agreed to be my guest. He is pastor at the Denver Bible Church, spokesman for American Right To Life and long-time talk show host on Denver’s 50,000-watt AM 670 KLTT. He is also a Young Earth Creationist. I recently "came out of the closet" as a tentative Young Earth Creationist, and so I asked Joel if he'd like to discuss it. He agreed and this is our friendly chat. Joel and Alan's "Religious Debate" channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHwNX-klDnvIXymowyJaunw
Recently, Ken Ham responded to my podcast where I explained why I do not hold to a Young Earth Creationist view. His response was misleading and obscurant. He attacked me personally, questioned my faith, and misrepresented my view. Today I’m going to set the record straight. Date: 11-16-2018
Young Earth Creationism -- the belief that the universe was made in six 24 hour days less than 10,000 years ago -- is quite common among Christians in America. I think it's wrong and comes from a misreading of the Biblical text and a misunderstanding of science. I also think Young Earth Creationism is an unnecessary stumbling block which prevents non-believers from taking Christianity seriously. I'll explain why. Learn more about your ad choices. Every now and then the issue will come up of origins, and some people are surprised to find that I am indeed a Young Earth Creationist. A friend recently asked to chat with me about it on his YouTube Channel, and I agreed. You can check out that video here. Also, check out his blog at godsrocker.blogspot.com. Not entirely satisfied with my presentation there, I decided to devote a podcast episode to answering this question.

In this episode I respond to a Facebook interaction with an blog article by Dr. Jonathan Sarfati and what he thinks valid "refutations" of the Literary Framework interpretation of Genesis 1 would be. John Grubbs is a mathematician and a Young Earth Creationist. About six months ago he gave a talk about his view of science, the bible, and the universe at Burke Community Bible Church. John initially agreed for a three-part series where we air his talk, then our response, then finally a one on one conversation. We were unable to get in touch with him for the conversation, so for now this will only be a two-parter. We disagree with pretty much everything John says in this episode - tune in next week for our response. NC music provided by Harry with the song "Whatthefuckeverhappenedtohillaryduff". SACPA in Partnership with the Lethbridge Public Library presents: To Pray or Not to Pray: What are the Ramifications of the Recent SCC Ruling on Prayers at Municipal Council Meetings? Ideally, Canada does not discriminate on grounds of religion although many people complain that it falls short in practice. In ruling against the Saguenay city council's recitation of prayer before its meetings the Supreme Court of Canada recently declared that a religiously neutral state may not "favour or hinder any particular belief or non-belief under the guise of cultural or historical reality or heritage." Following that ruling, many municipalities have discontinued similar practices with some deciding instead to sing the national anthem or observe a moment of silence. Others continue with prayer traditions or are waiting for further reviews. The speaker will weigh in on the implications of the SCC ruling putting it in a broader context of views on the role of religion and religious tradition in Canadian society and defend the court's opinion on the need for state neutrality in matters of religion. Speaker: Dr. James Linville Dr. Linville has been a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Lethbridge since 2002, teaching courses in Old Testament, Judaism, and Mythology. In recent years he has turned his attention to the nature of religiosity, the rise of atheist activism, and the so-called Young Earth Creationist movement. Dr. Linville graduated from the University of Alberta in 1993 with a B.A in Religious Studies, and a PhD in Hebrew and Old Testament at the University of Edinburgh in 1997. Moderator: Trevor Page Date:Tuesday, June 2, 2015 Time: 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Location: Lethbridge Public Library Theatre Gallery, 810 – 5th Ave. South Free admission, everyone welcome

Back in 2010, David Coppedge, a young-Earth creationist and an Intelligent Design advocate, sued NASA for workplace discrimination, alleging he had been discriminated against due to his religious views. He later amended the lawsuit for wrongful termination after he was fired. In early 2013, the lawsuit was thrown out in its entirety. This episode is an interview with a legal expert about the case.
A mainstay of young-Earth creationist arguments is that comets prove the solar system cannot be more than 10,000 years old. Listen in and find out why this claim ignores science.
In this chapter of Darwin or Design, I talk with Dr Georgia Purdom. Dr Purdom works for Answers in Genesis and is a molecular geneticist and bona fide Young Earth Creationist. I talk to her about the similarities and the differences between ID and YEC and where she thinks ID falls short.
Learn the basic arguments against science made by Young Earthers, and how to rebut them.
