On a Sunday morning in March 1990, two security guards arrived at the prestigious Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston ready to start work, only to find the museum had been robbed overnight. Thirteen artworks were missing and so were the two security guards who'd worked the night shift. The value of the missing art was around $500 million USD in today's money, making this heist the largest art theft, and largest property, theft in history. The suspects included a stoner security guard, disgruntled ex-employees, the Boston Mafia, the IRA and even the museum's director... but to this day the case has never been solved and the artworks have never been recovered.
The amounts of money in this heist are staggering. Five hundred million in art stolen, a ten million dollar reward. St. Patricks Day 1990, the famous Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is robbed of 13 pieces of art. Some of the most famous and valuable works by the great masters were stolen. "The Storm of the Sea of Galilee" by Rembrandt and "The Concert" by Vermeer were among the items that vanished. Images of pajama clad international art thieves came to mind, however the actual thieves were simply, achingly Boston. The FBI claims they have solved this case, however no one was ever indicted, nor was any artwork recovered. Was soll bei Princess Charming schon schiefgehen? Was erwartet man beim ESC? We just feel sorry. Dive into Boston legend this week as the girls are joined by the Barnicle brothers, Colin and Nick, to discuss their new Netflix docuseries, "This Is A Robbery," a fascinating and chilling dive into the infamous and still-unsolved Gardner Museum heist of 1990. They also get into their expansive work in sports, talking about a wide range of topics, including (but not limited to) the Red Sox, WooSox, ARod, Robert Redford, the reunion of Bennifer, and being in a fantasy baseball league with their father, famed journalist Mike Barnicle. In Episode 49, we talk about football scheduling in the future, Aaron Rodgers, Russell Westbrook, and possible MLB Team relocation. If you haven't marked your calendars for September 10th 2033, then you better do it now because the Wisconsin Badgers have it marked and so do we. Aaron Rodgers is apparently recruiting teammates to bail on the Packers with him, and Xavier has an idea for which team they should join. Russell Westbrook has averaged a triple double over the course of the season...again, and we talk about the fact that he doesn't have a championship, and also whether he needs one. Is single handedly normalizing the triple double enough to cement his legacy? Also, the A's may be leaving Oakland. We give our picks for where they should start over, and we may get a little out of the box.Lastly, we discuss episode 1 of This Is A Robbery. Filled with hot takes and conspiracy theories, we give our predictions on how this crime went down. Join us for episodes 2-3 next week on the Weekly Watchlist!Enjoy!

We made it to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier SEASON FINALE and we're feeling pretty proud. I guess the old adage is true "misery loves company," because I was feeling pretty solid about the collective AE jabs at the cheesy writing and blatant social commentary. Though, I overheard a gal tell Rob on a work call that she is "absolutely loving The Falcon and the Winter Soldier," that it's her "favorite Marvel series" and that she "loves it way more than Wandavision. Of course all of this feels completely absurd, but to each their own. As I've mentioned (so many times) this show has led us down so many different tangents. We've met so many characters and only somewhat understand their motivations and we're left conflicted about what would even be satisfying for us at the point. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier SEASON FINALE ends up attempting the not-so-small feat of tying up every possible loose end. To add to the intrepidness, they roll all of this into the last 10 minutes of the episode. To focus on the positive a bit, we do see that The Falcon has emerged anew, which some slick new gear. He is in fact, no longer The Falcon, but instead a flying Captain America. I have a whole set of issues with this, but you can listen to the episode to see if you agree. All in all, would we personally recommend this series? Well, we'll talk about that on the episode too! In our shows Worth Mentioning segment, we get a little personal comfort food, if you will. Brennan brings his thoughts on one his his childhood favorites, Animorphs. Rob talks about a new docuseries This Is A Robbery, that he's been watching when I fall asleep at 9pm. In the early morning hours of March 18, 1990, thirteen works of art were stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Guards admitted two men posing as police officers responding to a disturbance call, and the thieves tied the guards up and looted the museum over the next hour. The haul, including painting by Rembrant, Degas, Manet and Vermeer, was valued at $500 million The case is unsolved; no arrests have been made and no works have been recovered. And now the mystery is explored in the new Netflix docu-series, "This Is A Robbery"...and we got the chance to talk to director Colin Barnicle all about it.
