The first episode of the Needless Things Podcast was posted on January 1st, 2013. It's a conversation between Phantom Troublemaker (Dave) and Beau Brown about the 30th anniversary of Masters of the Universe. It was originally posted on the Internet Archive because we had no idea what we were doing. Now, five years later, the episode has been given a new introduction and outro and is finally being included in the Podbean library of episodes to be distributed to itunes, Stitcher, Uranus, and everywhere else podcasts aren't sold. Here are the show noted from that first episode in a cleaner form. Phantom wrote much longer show notes than Dave does.I guess this was bound to happen sooner or later. I knew at some point I would have to do my own thing. This was actually Beau’s idea. He messaged me that he wanted to do a Masters of the Universe podcast; possibly Earth Station Eternia. I thought that sounded like a great idea, so I ran it past Director Faber. He was not interested. I immediately knew I was just going to have to do it myself. I envisioned a year-end wrap-up of the Masters of the Universe Classics toy line and the 30th Anniversary. I got back to Beau to make sure he was down with that – he was – and started figuring out how the heck I was going to do it. Would there be cursing? (yes) How long did I want to record? (preferably about 90 minutes, but however long it took) How would I record? (with a Skype add-on called Amolto Call Recorder) How would I post it? (still working on that as of this writing) We had a recording date set of December 10th, but I got sick and couldn’t talk around the pound of snot hanging out in my throat.  And then we did record ten days later. I had a fantastic time recording this thing with Beau and even enjoyed the editing to a certain extent. If the editing had been the only thing going on in my life I think I would have really liked it. Of course, that would also be very sad. I wasn’t sure to what extent Director Faber wanted the ESO Network to be involved given his initial level of interest, but he was pretty excited about making The Needless Things Podcast a part of his empire when I talked to him Sunday night during the latest Earth Station Who recording. He asked if I had included the ESO IDs and I went, “Uhh… no,” because I don’t have those IDs and the idea of me including them never came up. But he sent them along and now they’re in there and I can’t help but feel like this thing is even more official. Faber told me if I waited two weeks I could actually upload it to the ESO Network, but I’ve had this date in mind and thought it was really important to kick off 2013 with something big. I may re-upload it when he’s ready just so everything will be in one place. Speaking of big things, I also bought a domain name. You might (or might not) have noticed that your address bar says “NeedlessThingsSite.com” rather than “phantomtroublemaker.blogspot.com”. I’ve been feeling like that needed to happen for a while. I was never really happy with the address, but when I investigated I found out that “NeedlessThings.com” was already taken by some kind of fashion site that as far as I can tell has never been updated and seems to not even be in use.I haven’t really investigated the differences between the pure Blogspot site and whatever it is I have now, but apparently there are some. As the year goes on I’ll change whatever I can when there’s time. We’ll see. One last thing – this is more of a general type of thing than anything podcast-related, but just know that I’m toning down my costumes this year. The mask will still be everywhere I am, but I’ve decided to work with what I already have, costume-wise. I’m really trying to tighten up the spending and get rid of a few nagging debts, so this year is going to have a minimum of unnecessary expenses. I had wanted very badly to have a Phantom Troublemaker version of Doctor Six’s costume for TimeGate, but the time and money for such a thing simply aren’t there. I’m still gonna hug Colin Baker, though. Oh, and toys do not count as “unnecessary expenses”. The reveal of the Time Gate has swallowed up great chunks of the past and blown it into air picture fractals of speech across cyber space. Point by point, reveal by reveal, knowledge buried in the long ages of time will further be resurrected. The trumpet of false alert and false information about the history of the past, screams it lies in every alley to the ears that want to hear and want to believe their lies. But a river of life is flowing out of the innermost being of the Manifester Yada, revealing the real facts and real history. Now will come the Manifester Yada to speak what is true or not true about "aliens" and what is truth or is not true about the existence of humans during the Paleozoic Era prior to the dinosaurs. The word of God is QUICK and Powerful... (Hebrews 4:12 KJV). People have not understood the word "quick" as in the quickening s. It is written: "Behold I come "quickly". The old testament term for "quickly" was the "rushings". In the new testament it uses the old testament term "rushings" in Acts 2:2 KJV: SUDDENLY, there came a sound from heaven as a mighty RUSHING wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting. The term: Suddenly = coming soon, coming quickly, shorty, and etc. The subject "Suddenly the quickenings will come", and the Scriptures for the "Time Gate" Number 12 teaching will be the theme of: Part 13, of: The Whisper of Satan.

Now comes a mighty rushing God-Wind to blow down the fumbles and gross errors of make believe infused into truth by the personality cult of Satanic Missionaries. In episode 12, the "Time Gate reveal" will be opened wider. Oracles becoming personified will emerge out of being wrapped in mysteries to clear their throats and begin to speak. The Lord of the Flies will swear threats.. but his rampage will fall away like a fading echo.

Now comes the revelation of Satanic Remote Dispersions sent from the workshops of demons, sent out to the brain waves of the human masses. When this furnishment of Bible backed information is connected to the "Transfer ability" of Satan, a chunk of secret diabolic operations will be perforated. Further comes the theme "Down with Satan's Secret Show" for the Manifester Yada will open a Bible reveal to the "Time Gate" of the "Mystery of Iniquity" as to the time sequences of the "Acts Of Satan" as regards the Wormwood, and Tares operations.

This is the big one, Phantomaniacs. You’ve heard the action figure panel. That one is really my pride and joy because it is the first Dragon Con panel that I was responsible for. Obviously I love action figures and toys and it was a blast to blather on about them with Gary and Geena for an hour. I’m pretty sure we’ll do it again next year in some form. You’ve heard the He-Man panel. That one was special because me and Beau got to do our Needless Thing in front of an audience and… sometimes my phrasing is really bad. Gary was with us on that one, too, because Gary is awesome. But the awesomest awesomeness was the fact that we got to talk with William Stout. That made that panel extra special. And I’m so glad I got to record it. I learned my lesson about recording panels after being on a fantastic Elementary panel at TimeGate with (dude) and it having a single shred of evidence from it. But now it’s time for my passion. It’s time for the panel about the toy line and cartoon and comic book that ruled my childhood above all others. Yes, even above Star Wars. The GI Joe panel wasn’t technically mine to run like the others, but I felt just as proprietary about it. Much like Beau and the Masters panel, I knew I had a valuable resource to tap for the Joe panel – Gnoll. That guy knows 80s pop culture like you wouldn’t believe. And Hasbro properties are a specialty of his. Joining us were Award-Winning Bobby Nash and the walking Trivial Pursuit: Nerd Edition known as Gary Mitchel. Guys – this panel was electric and it wasn’t just us (thought we were probably important). We had an unbelievable audience for this one. Despite the fact that it was 7 PM on the final full night of Dragon Con, the room was packed – literally standing room only – with enthusiastic Joe fans. In all honesty the whole thing was pretty emotionally charged for me. To be sharing that space with the talent at the table and so many fans was a powerful thing. On this super-duper-late fourth episode of the Terminus podcast, join me as I chat about the recent reveal of who will be the next Doctor (on which there's lots of geeking and cheering from me, of course!) and how one of my favorite classic Doctors is coming to a convention near me next year (and I'll hopefully get to meet him for the first time!). Of course, as promised, there's also the main 'In Defense Of' segments, where I come to the defense of several characters and other bits of fandom I think are often ridiculed unfairly. Admittedly, I sadly didn't have the nicest things to say about Rose Tyler a few times in the episode and while I know she's a bit of a sacred cow in fandom, I feel that many of the characters I talked about were often sacrificed at her altar and put up against her in comparison by the show. So, I argue how those comparisons failed for me. I'm honestly hoping I don't lose any listeners over that, because I know YMMV and everyone gets something different out of different characters, but at the same time, I had to be honest with my opinions. Anyway, this is the longest episode I've done so far, which probably made the timing of it even worse as its running so late due to Life Stuff (I sincerely hope to be back on schedule going forward though). Surprise! I had no idea I was going to be posting another podcast this week. I was fortunate enough to run  a toy panel at my personal favorite sci-fi convention - TimeGate. It's focused around Stargate and Doctor Who, but this year the emphasis was definitely on Doctor Who. Between the 50th Anniversary and the presence of an actual Doctor - Colin Baker - for the first time, things couldn't have gone down any other way. I pretty much decided on my own that I was going to run the toy panel because that's what I do. Director Faber of the ESO Netowrk was there to assist me and also was kind enough to record the whole thing, so I decided to make a podcast out of it. I listened to it first to make sure it was suitable for publishing. I think it is. Even without the many visual aids I had at the panel I think it's an enjoyable discussion of the history of Doctor Who toys. Oh, and the intro and outro sound like crap because I am still getting used to using my laptop instead of my desktop. My desktop fell victim to... something... and Jeffistopheles mostly fixed it but the display is still jacked up. Anyway, I forgot to switch the Audacity audio input to my headset mic so the whole thing recorded on my laptop mic. It doesn't sound awful so I didn't see any reason to re-record it.
