There are seasoned entrepreneurs, gifted speakers, and best-selling authors, but rarely do you find all three in one person. Peter Montoya is that rare exception. Author of The Brand Called YOU, skilled orator with over 4,000 keynotes under his belt and creator of the game-changing tech startup, Urth, a social media platform which will eliminate bots, trolls, and misinformation. Today Peter is going to share with us insights from his newest best-selling book, The Second Civil War: A citizen's guide to healing our fractured nation. He'll share practical lessons, not only how to cope with relationships with those whose political views we find intolerable, but also how to rehabilitate those relationships, making them healthier than ever before. Hate speech. Cancel culture. Divisive rhetoric. Insurrection. These days, the civility of American civilians leaves much to be desired. So much so that in his first speech as the President of the United States, Joe Biden called on Americans to put an end to the “uncivil war,” to unite together to give the country a fighting chance. But how did the country get here? A war, civil or not, doesn't brew overnight, and it simply isn't instigated by a singular person or political party. In The Second Civil War: A citizens' guide to healing our fractured nation (August 3, 2021), highly sought-after speaker and bestselling author Peter Montoya dissects fear-based messaging and highly accessible technology, revealing how they have placed individuals—everyday Americans—on both the front lines and within the command bunkers in the early stages of this second civil war, and provides strategies and solutions to bring the conflict to an amicable end. Coming Clean with Peter O. Estevez Peter's relationship with drugs started at a fairly young age. He recalls sitting in his mom's closet drinking a six-pack of beer when he was about 12 years old. Although Peter grew up in poverty as one of thirteen children, he found great success in real estate and became a millionaire by the time he was 25. "But just as easily as I accomplished success, I always found a way of sabotaging it, primarily through alcohol." Peter had the money, a big house, and nice cars, but his drinking prevented him from finding true happiness. After a few embarrassing moments in front of his business partners and some encouragement from his therapist, he started attending Alcoholics Anonymous. Today Peter has over 20 years of sobriety. Most people will sit and wait for their 'big break' to just fall into their laps. Unfortunately, the only people who will ever become successful are those that go out and fight for it. So, my question to you is this, Are you going to sit and wait, or are you going to get up, take action, and create YOUR own success?Peter Taunton grew up in a middle-class family. He didn’t have a lot of money, but what he had was willpower and determination to create a life of success. Fast forward 50 years, Peter is now known as a pioneer in the fitness industry. Welcome to Episode 76 of Building My Legacy. In this podcast, we talk with Peter Montoya – best-selling author, powerful coach, and entrepreneur – about his journey from a career in sales to the founding of Marketing Pro. In just 10 years, Peter had built a successful software company that he was able to sell for a multi-million dollar price tag – without capital, partners, or investors.Recognized as the industry guru on personal branding and marketing, Peter provides remarkable insight into human behavior, including our innate desire to make positive contributions to other human beings as well as the things in our psychological make-up that work against us. Effective marketing, as Peter explains, is all about finding the unmet need and filling it better than anyone else. He also discusses what it takes to become a transformational leader and the importance of thinking about the long-term impact you want to make on humanity, that is your legacy. So if you want to know:– Why specialization is essential for effective marketing– How transformational leaders create a revolution in “what is”– How to help people reach their maximum creativity– A leader’s most important job– The real definition of power About Peter MontoyaAfter spending five years on the road in sales, Peter Montoya made the decision to become an entrepreneur. Recognizing that the key to success was specialization, he started an advertising agency and wrote the book, The Brand Called You. Both the agency and the book were geared specifically for financial advisors, which led to his start-up software company, Marketing Pro. His company was successful because he found a very specific problem in the marketplace – content marketing for financial service professionals – and developed a solution for that market. Today Peter is one of the country’s most sought-after speakers and coaches on transformational leadership and the need for leaders and organizations to take into consideration our “future selves” and work to protect the survival of our civilization and our planet.About Lois Sonstegard, PhDWorking with business leaders for more than 30 years, Lois has learned that successful leaders have a passion to leave a meaningful legacy. Today Peter asks Jesus, "Must we forgive our brother as many as seven times?" Jesus's response is telling: "Not seven times but seventy-seven times." And then he gives a parable so that we can understand why. Why does Jesus expect us to do something as hard as forgiving our neighbor? Because we ourselves have been forgiven.

Peter has begun this letter with the wonderful revelation of the big picture of the world and our lives, He has been setting the table so that he can now talk to us about practical and difficult things – like the ways we walk away from Jesus when we give in to slander and gossip and despising – the things our cultural moment is full of. Being a professional artist is a job, it brings in income (hopefully) and, if all goes well brings a degree of satisfaction. It is inevitable that people will help you in your artistic journey: giving you opportunities, buying your work or attending classes that you are teaching. from time to time it's great to give back a little largesse. Today Peter and Laura talk about ways that they repay kindness and loyalty, or contribute to causes that they believe in by using their artistic skills. They talk too about the value of devoting time to the artistic community, involving yourself in art organisations or taking responsibility for art events. It may be seen as work for nothing, but there are nearly always rewards in the end.
It's great to hear what artists think about galleries, but that is only one side of the story. Today Peter and Laura talk to Nick Bentley, owner of Bils and Rye, a wonderful gallery in the North Yorkshire town of Kirkby Moorside. Bils and Rye have a great portfolio of artists including sculptors, painters, printmakers (including Laura, which is how we were able to lure Nick into our studio!) and ceramicists. Nick's view is that a gallery needs to be more than a place that potential buyers might visit: it has to be pro-active, finding both artists and buyers and fostering a healthy relationship with both in order to thrive as a business. If you would like to know more about Bils and Rye then you can visit their website www.bilsandrye.com or find them on all the usual social media platforms
A growing number of political conservatives, some of whom claim to be Christians, say homosexuality is no longer an issue in a culture war. This, even as nearly 100 LGBT candidates just won election nationwide, a dad fights against gender transitioning for his son and drag queen story hours proliferate. Who will fight the culture war against the growing LGBT tyranny in our country? I'll discuss it with Peter LaBarbera, president of Americans for Truth about Homosexuality, on Friday's JANET MEFFERD TODAY.

Peter Frankopan is a Professor of Global History at Oxford University, Director at the Oxford Centre for Byzantine Research and an author. In the west we tend to have a view that our own political, economical and cultural situations are the most important on the planet. We tend to believe that we are principally shaping the direction the world heads in. Today Peter offers an alternative view which identifies the rapid rate of change seen in Asia over the last few years which could change not only the financial and commercial but the cultural focus of the globe. Today we’re going to talk about one of the most difficult topics when it comes to life and business… Having to sue someone, and getting sued. When I was young and naive’ one of my goals in life was to literally never have to deal with their of those situations. Well, guess what? Within the next few years, I found myself having to sue two different people for the first time in my life. Unfortunately, both of them had mental health problems. Their actions were unreasonable, their motives were to intentionally cause myself and my business harm, and they had no desire to find an actual remedy to the situation. They were not healthy people. They wanted conflict and that was their goal. So I called up some of my older and wiser mentors at the time, and they all said the same thing… Don’t pursue a lawsuit unless you absolutely must, but if you must, then go all in. So that’s what I did… It took almost a year in one case, and several years in the next, but I eventually won both cases. So why am I bringing all of this up? Because my goal of going through life without ever getting involved in a lawsuit, while putting myself in front of millions of people was naive. As someone who conducts business with other people and companies, you are going to run into conflict, and you are going to run into mentally unstable people no matter how well you run your business. It is an unfortunate part of life, so my goal today is to simply prepare you for that day which can be one of the most difficult experiences you’ll ever have. To help me do that, we’re joined by the attorney who helped me handle those cases, Mr. Peter Hoppenfeld. Today Peter’s going to make sure you have your legal basics in place and covered, and to give you some sound advice when it comes to doing business in a litigious world.
