He is the owner of multiple 9Round franchises and the General Manager at social performance club KOLLECTIVE. A college dropout, Ryan suffered a career ending injury playing football during his freshman year, causing him to fall into a deep depression for a couple of years. The thing that eventually turned his life around? Fitness. It was his original passion and continued to be that driving force behind his success in life and in business. Fitness truly did save Ryan's life. Ryan opened his first gym in 2013, and his second in 2014. He loved the process of putting together these “communities” of people who were united in their quest for continuous growth in both their physical and mental wellbeing. Things weren't always smooth sailing for Ryan. He went through a rough divorce five years later, which led him to sell his two gyms and recalibrate his direction. Peter says “I love my life!” And in his life the common thread is wellness, physical and mental. Having the right mindset and being prepared to do the work by setting up a chronological order to set up new businesses. Take small bites and work your way through it. Thin yourself from the herd to be visible and impactful. He found himself finding that money doesn’t buy happiness. He was wealthy, but single, and focused on philanthropy in order to create a life that made him happy. He started posting his daily devotionals and gained a following Luck and hope is not a business plan. Along with his daily devotional, he has a to do list that he’s kept since he was twelve years old. Social media has become an avenue for him to express himself – if you see four guys in a meeting, three in suits and one in jeans and flip flops – he’s the one with the money. He rides his bike around Miami to meetings. He prays with those he meets with. Known as Pistol Peet, even the homeless community leans on Peter to bring smiles and connection. Peter looks back at his life and asks “What did I miss? What would I have done differently?” And, responds, “I wish I would have danced more. He wishes he’s spent more time with his family, church and friends. He built 377 stores in a year! He was able to hire the right talent and get them to stay in their lanes. He has used the same systems and processes over the years and they have worked successfully whether he was opening 5 stores a month or 377 a year. Peter started working out when he was thirteen and just never stopped. He manages his weight and body fat and can do more pullups today than when he was in his twenties! You really miss something when we equate success to money. Balance and presence is the key to success. Peter gives 10% of his profits in his CBD sales to charity. Born in Willmer, Minnesota Peter Taunton was the youngest of 7 children. He went from small-town Minnesota to a pioneer in the fitness industry. In 2003, he had a vision: to create an affordable, 24-7, results-driven gym differentiated from the impersonal, expensive big-box experience. Today there are Snap Fitness franchises in 2,500 locations in 26 countries. But he didn’t stop, there he has acquired and founded several brands to round out the consumer-fitness experience: 9Round, Farrell’s, YogaFit, STEELE Fitness, Fitness On Demand. Together with the Snap Fitness brand, they comprise the world’s largest wellness franchise organization. In 2010, he was named an Ernst and Young “Entrepreneur of the Year.” His companies have also been featured for six years running in such prestigious industry lists as Entrepreneur 500, Inc 5000, Top Global and Franchise 500. Fitness is a powerful tool and has the ability to completely transform a person’s life and way of living 180 degrees. Be describes her story about how she lost over 80 pounds of fat and gained lean muscle, strength and confidence. During the interview we talk about the psychology behind exercise and how it’s the best therapy (usually cheaper too!) along with the 9Round fitness center goals and how they want to help make a lasting change, not only with the body, but with the community as well. First, what is 9Round? 9Round is an interval based gym where the members move through 9 different rounds, each being 3 minutes long. The rounds are a mixture of kicking, punching, squatting, pushing and we can’t forget the infamous speed bag! Takeaways and tips – During the show we received many great tips from both Be and Kaye and one of the most memorable one is to just start. No matter what program or activity you choose to do starting is going to be the hardest part and also believe, believe in yourself and know that anyone has the power to change! Also, here is the Smoothie recipe link and that recipe for homemade banana ice cream we talked about: Smoothies Link Banana Ice Cream Recipe: 1 Frozen Banana 1/4 Cup Almond Milk (or any milk) 2 Tsp. Cocoa Powder. 1 Tbsp. Agave Nectar. Directions: Mix All Ingredients together in a food processor or blender. You may need to add a little more milk depending on how big you banana is (That’s what she said). Once you get a thick ice cream like texture you are ready to eat! or you can freeze it for an hour for a thicker texture! Let’s get physical! That’s the focus of today’s look at companies that are hiring. FOX Business Network’s Cheryl Casone reports in “Hired”: Getting you hired! I’m Cheryl Casone with the FOX Business Network. Jobs in the fitness industry set to increase 13 percent in the next decade. PRO Martial Arts is a franchise that offers classes for kids and adults. They’ll be looking to hire about 1000 people in the next year and a half. Program directors, instructors and chief instructors are needed. Jobs pay between 12 and 20 dollars per hour. Retro Fitness is a low cost gym concept for just 20 bucks a month. Nearly 1200 jobs created in the next year with 50 to 60 locations. Managers, assistant managers, front desk personnel… even child sitters are needed! Florida, New York, Illinois, and more states need jobs filled. 9Round is a gym fitness center and a health club dedicated to kickboxing. Club managers can make 25 to 50 thousand a year. Trainers up to nine bucks an hour. They are in 36 states right now. Finally, Town Sports International owns New York Sports Clubs, along with Boston, Washington and Philadelphia.
