June 6, 2026, 8 AM; Even as he faces a record low approval rating amid the ongoing war with Iran, Trump is focusing on celebrating America's 250th Anniversary the only way he knows how: By centering himself in a series of vanity projects. Those projects include the octagon on the south lawn of the White House for the upcoming UFC fight, construction on the ballroom, painting and refilling the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial, building a so-called Triumphal Arch in Memorial Circle, and the unprecedented proposal to put the current, living president's face on a $250 bill. Jake Traylor and Courtenay Brown join The Weekend to discuss the president's vanity projects and his historic low approval ratings. The Washington Roundtable discusses the global consequences of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz with Edward Fishman, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and the author of the book “Chokepoints: American Power in the Age of Economic Warfare.” The group explores how Donald Trump's embrace of economic weapons such as tariffs, along with his military escalation in Iran, has upended the world's economy and weakened his popularity at home. “I think we have not seen the worst of this war yet,” Fishman says. “I don't see how anyone can view that as a victory, and we all know Donald Trump doesn't like to look like a loser.”See the Washington Roundtable live at 92NY on June 4th.This week's reading: “Trump and the Iran Deal That Wasn't,” by Susan B. The New Yorker staff writer Zach Helfand joins Tyler Foggatt to discuss his Profile of Linda McMahon, the Secretary of Education. They talk about the sweeping layoffs and downsizing at the Department of Education during Donald Trump's second term—a fulfillment of a long-standing conservative effort to dismantle the agency—and the consequences for students and schools that rely on its services. They also explore how McMahon's tenure as C.E.O. of World Wrestling Entertainment set her up to be one of Trump's most reliable and effective Cabinet members, across both his terms—and why the President has long been drawn to McMahon, her husband, Vince, and the world of professional wrestling. This week's reading: “How Professional Wrestling Prepared Linda McMahon for Trump's Cabinet,” by Zach Helfand “J. Good afternoon, I'm _____ with today's episode of EZ News. Tai-Ex opening The Tai-Ex opened up 14-points this morning from yesterday's close, at 37,146 on turnover of $8.7-billion N-T. The market continued to make solid gains on Thursday - as it closed above the 37,000-point mark for the first time as investor sentiment improved amid hopes that the U-S and Iran will resume peace negotiations. Market watchers say the rise came as investors here seized on (抓住) the momentum of a rise on Wall Street overnight to raise their holdings, and buying continued to focus on the electronics sector. Social worker sentenced to 2 years in 'Kai Kai' infant abuse case The Taipei District Court has sentenced a social worker to two years in prison for negligent homicide over the failure to report suspicious behavior in the case of a 1-year-old boy who died after repeated abuse by his foster caregiver. The court's ruling against Chen Shang-chieh, a social worker for the Child Welfare League Foundation is the third conviction stemming from (源於,源自) the December 2023 death of an infant known as Kai Kai. The court faulted Chen in its verdict for what it called "passive inactivity" in her role overseeing the child's case, despite being the person best-positioned to "piece together the truth" that he was being abused. The ruling can be appealed. Haiti Hunger Levels Drop but Remain Critical A new report states that the number of people facing high levels of hunger in Haiti is expected to drop slightly, although officials say the situation remains critical. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification said Thursday that more than 5.83 million Haitians are expected to face acute levels of hunger from March to June, representing more than half the country's population. Meanwhile, nearly 1.9 million people are expected to face emergency levels of hunger, just down from the projected 2 million people. But the report said limited improvements are “insufficient" (不足的), and points out that any small gains might soon be erased because of soaring oil prices linked to the war in Iran. Vice President JD Vance just dropped the bad news — after an intense 21-hour face-to-face negotiation at the luxury Serena Hotel in Islamabad, the United States and Iran have failed to reach a peace agreement to end the six-week war that has rocked the Middle East. The high-stakes talks, the first direct high-level meetings between the two nations in over a decade, broke down when Iran refused to give a firm commitment to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions. Iran, in turn, demanded full control of the Strait of Hormuz, the right to continue uranium enrichment, no limits on ballistic missiles, and war reparations. With the fragile two-week cease-fire now hanging by a thread, the risk of renewed fighting is rising fast. Vance called it the U.S.'s "final and best offer" — will this lead to escalation or more rounds of diplomacy? What do you think happens next? Drop your thoughts below

It was meant to be a spectacle. And it was. But not in the way intended. In this episode, author and historian Eliga Gould tells the incredible story of Charles Willson Peale's Triumphal Arch, built to celebrate the Treaty of Paris, which officially ended the American Revolution and established international recognition of the United States. Monticello's Gaye Wilson and Hannah Zimmerman join in for our look into this pivotal yet often forgotten moment in American history, where art, celebration, and tragedy intertwined.

Titus' Triumphal Arch in Rome Italy is a reminder set in stone the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD. Among items depicted on the relief are a Scroll of Law, trumpets, the menorah, and the table is shewbread. These items would have been in use in the time of Jesus and Zacharias. God bless you today! In Jesus Name!

Dr. Laura Fernández-González explores the circulation of visual trends between imperial Lisbon and India, through the design for the Bengali Colcha with Triumphal Arch of the Flemish. Numerous Indian colchas, or wall hangings, were made for the orientalist markets of imperial Portugal. But this unique Bengali Colcha depicts a triumphal arch – the same temporary arch designed and erected in Lisbon by a foreign community of Flemish merchants, to welcome the Spanish king Philip II of Portugal (and III of Spain) into the capital in 1619. The mesmerizing architecture, figures, and flora depicted speak of several coeval artistic traditions, spaces, empires, and cultures. PRESENTER: Dr. Laura Fernández-González, senior lecturer in Art/Architectural History and Theory at the University of Lincoln. This chapter provides further evidence to the rules of the establishment of the image of the Triumpahl Arch throughout the world. From Spain, to Russia, to London, to Germany and even the Unites States of America we trace the direct succssion of conquering going back 2,000 yrs linked to the very Triumphal Arch of Titus which set forth the pattern of the Bondage of Egypt which has now overtaken the world! ALL OF THE ARCHES (EVEN THE TRIMPHAL ARCH OF TITUES) ARE STILL STANDING!!
