Full episode on our Patreon. Vinnie Stigma is a foundational figure in the hardcore punk scene and the longtime guitarist of Agnostic Front; a band that helped define the New York hardcore sound. Their music touches on the realities of an early New York, social change and independent thought. Stigma's guitar work was central to releases like United Blood and Victim in Pain, albums that became cornerstones of the hardcore genre. Stigma was involved with Madball, a band fronted by Roger Miret's younger half-brother, Freddy Madball. He also launched a solo project under the name Stigma, releasing albums such as New York Blood and For Love and Glory. In 2024, Stigma published his autobiography, The Most Interesting Man in the World. The book delves into his upbringing in Little Italy, his experiences in the hardcore scene, and his passions outside of music, including cooking, acting, and martial arts. Stigma remains active in the music scene, performing with Agnostic Front and maintaining a strong presence in the NYHC community. http://patreon.com/livingproofnewyorkhttp://livingproofnewyork.com

A true pioneer of the genre and a living legend, Vinnie took us around his neighborhood in New York City, including the world famous former home of the legendary venue CBGBs. We learned all about his early days as a punk rocker, making the jump to hardcore, how much he misses playing in Madball and SO much more in these incredible 2 hours of the hardest lore yet. There's possibly no hardcore today without Vinnie and Agnostic Front's contributions to the genre, and there's certainly no HardLore. They say never meet your heroes.. They've never met Stigma. We can't thank everyone involved enough for making this happen. This week's guest is one of the funniest, most charismatic humans on the planet. He's an institution out of the city of New York. He's one of the last outlaws; the last of a dying breed. He is the man, the myth, the legend, Mr Vinnie Stigma - from the Godfathers of Hardcore, Agnostic Front. He joins Matt for a pre-Corona virus, pre-social distancing chat about New York history, hardcore and CBGB. Vinnie also reveals his wide range of unlikely creative influences, from Jimi Hendrix and Frank Sinatra all the way to Bruce Lee, discusses his relationship and creative partnership with AF frontman Roger Miret, and shares his thoughts on everything from pigeons to the mafia. It's a thoroughly entertaining talk with one of the most original characters in rock 'n' roll. Buckle up, and enjoy the ride.Follow Matt Stocks on Facebook / Twitter / Instagram: @mattstocksdjCheck out the Life In The Stocks Patreon page here: www.patreon.com/lifeinthestocksAnd Pre-Order the Life In The Stocks BOOK here: https://rarebirdlit.com/life-in-the-stocks-veracious-conversations-with-musicians-creatives/ See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Can we get some fucking toilet paper stocked already, for Christ's sake? Dating in the apocalypse. (And in FLORIDA, on top of it...) "Progressives." The Psychopath test. The Rainbow Room documentary. The Agnostic Front documentary, and Vinnie Stigma.  The Louie CK special. I'm tired of good looking leading men being married to a "5" in whatever show or project they're in.

The Godfather of Hardcore... Vinnie Stigma and Mike Gallo of "Agnostic Front" and "Stigma" are back for Episode 150 of The Brooklyn Blast Furnace Podcast! It's been 123 episodes since these gentlemen were on. Stigma had me over his house in Little Italy to play catch up and chop it up about what's been going on. From the new record, "Get Loud", touring, Mike Gallo's original artwork, a buncha banter, Stigma stories and we even touch on the events of 9.11.2001. A couple stand up gentlemen who I respect highly. I hope you enjoy this one! Respect.

On episode 118 George is joined all the way from Boston by director Ian McFarland. They discuss Ian's start in documentary, playing bass in punk bands of his own, and crafting a true story of friendship and chosen family out of three decades of hardcore punk history.Vinnie Stigma and Roger Miret have been the longest serving members of foundational New York Hardcore band Agnostic Front. The band goes from sharing an Ed Koch-era Lower East Side squat to international cult acclaim. 60-something Stigma (birth name Capuccio) longs for an older way of life, pre-Giuliani gentrification, while being something of a grown-up kid. Miret has become a suburban Arizona family man, but has a lot of demons that are revealed throughout the film. How does one age gracefully, or at all, in the mosh pit of midlife? While many music docs follow a familiar talking head arc, McFarland has more to say about belonging, male bonding, and identity.Follow Godfathers of Hardcore on:Twitter: @GodfathersofHCInstagram: @thegodfathersofhardcoremovieFollow Sup Doc on:Twitter: @supdocpodcastInstagram: @supdocpodcastFacebook: @supdocpodcastsign up for our mailing listAnd you can show your support to Sup Doc by donating on Patreon.

Welcome to episode 3 of Beats and Breakdowns, the bi-weekly music podcast from the Team Soul podcast network. In this episode, we sit down with Hoya Roc, bass player for the New York hardcore band Madball. Hoya has been a long time friend of ours and we appreciate him taking the time to sit down with us and discuss growing up in New York, the Dynamo Open Air festival in 1995, raising a family while being in a full time touring hardcore band, his continued love for the hardcore scene and more.  Madball has been a driving force in the hardcore scene since 1988. The band was started by members of Agnostic Front as a side project to allow vocalist Roger Miret’s brother, 12-year-old Freddy to sing. The band has had its share of members including Vinnie Stigma, Matt Henderson, Will Shepler, and Mitts Daniels, but the constant has always been Freddy and Hoya. Despite a year-long break up in 2001, the band has continued on and continues to tour and release new music. You can find more information, tour dates, merch and more by going to www.madballhc.com or their current label, Nuclear Blast Records at www.nuclearblast.com If this is your first time listening to the show, we thank you for taking the time to download and listening.
