Unlike the title of this episode suggests, we did not organize ourselves in preparation for this conversation. Sometimes "airing it" means researching and writing down a structure (most of the time we do that) - other times it means lying around with friends and allowing our minds to run free. In this episode, we start by making sense and ... then later not so much ... enjoy this goofy, Afrikaans, ramble! And happy Silly Season!

Anti-vaccine protesters in Cape Town say they feel pressured to take the vaccine against Covid-19 through messaging via the mainstream media even though government says it is voluntary to do so. A group under the banner "no to mandatory vaccination" has held a rally outside Groote Schuur Hospital. The group says they stand in solidarity with Cape Town heart surgeon Dr Susan Vosloo's anti-vaccination message that surfaced on the internet last week. Vosloo is facing charges of disinformation after proclaiming her personal anti-vaccination beliefs around Covid-19.

In season one of Air It, we touched on many current topics that are widely debated around the world. But in the season finale, we look at what might be the most pressing challenge humanity is facing collectively at the moment: climate change. Roux Vosloo, master's student in English Studies, writer, and Jana's brother, guides us into a deep and profound conversation about what constitutes home, how embracing solastalgic feelings can lead to loving our environment (solophilia) and the power of emotion to move us to transformative action. In episode 8 we do an informal film analysis of 'Mother!', by Darren Aronofsky, as a perfect representation of the nauseating feeling of solastalgia- an emotion Roux argues we are avoiding by obsessing over the perfection of our houses, and by indulging in consumer behaviour. In 2019 it became a global discussion that dealing with climate change has become unavoidable, yet chaotic global politics, a pandemic, and a year later we are still not on the same page as to how much our societies need to change for 'nature' to be restored. It is therefore urgent that we openly and honestly engage with the future of our habitat. This emotional and strangely spiritual conversation is one way we are contributing. The biggest challenge (and frustration) for any FSP of any size is to manage commissions, ongoing fees, and other revenue. Each product provider has its own unique format for commission statements and even what they call different commissions. Commissions come in, commissions go out. Managing splits to advisors in the FSP or referral fees to outside professionals is a nightmare for most.Managing the FSP's finances is critical. Whether you are an independent working alone or whether you run an FSP with multiple advisors, each with their own unique agreement, a system to manage it all is a must.Today we talk to Johan Vosloo, founder, and CEO of Commspace. We talk about how Commspace came about and their early day challenges. Johan shares what makes Commspace unique and how they offer their White Glove Onboarding process to every new client and only once the client is happy then they start paying for the service. We also discuss the use of technology in general and the importance of integration. If you've been wondering how you can take control of your commission chaos or whether there are solutions available to manage and analyse commission... then this is the episode to listen to.
The villainous crime boss known as the Octopus has kept the citizens of Central City held tightly in an eight-tentacled grip of terror for a long time--perhaps too long a time, as it turns out, for the Octopus has drawn the attention of a quartet of dark and brooding heroes. All of them have designs on the Octopus and his criminal empire, but which will be the one to take this villain down? Will it be the evil-slamming Phantom, the mind-clouding Shadow, the strangely anachronistic Darkman, or the watch-having Dick Tracy? Right out of the gate, we pull them in with an explosive opening sequence and then keep them guessing as the mystery unfolds until we blow their minds in the final moments. Being able to construct such an intricate puzzle like this - that is both entertaining and thought-provoking - has been a joy."Matthew Tompkins, Producer: "The Harrowing is carefully constructed to be a powerful synergy of elements that make it one of those rare 'elevated' genre films with true crossover appeal to a wide variety of hardcore fans...The film is a potent mix of horror and supernatural elements that underpin a very smart, disturbing, and complicated psychological thriller...the idea of being able to drive the narrative utilizing all of these things, to truly pull that off, from both a commercial and artistic perspective, was a fantastic opportunity for us as Filmmakers."In addition to Ironside, Vosloo, and Tompkins, the dynamic ensemble cast also includes ‘’The Haunting of Hill House’’’s Arianne Martin and Damon Carney (Hellraiser : Judgement).Available on VOD and on Demand December 25, 2018 from Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment.Find out more at https://wicked-horror-show.pinecast.coSend us your feedback online: https://pinecast.com/feedback/wicked-horror-show/384cc1f5-f012-4bc1-b0d5-1242f1bbaacf

The Mummy (1932) by Universal Pictures starring Boris Karloff, hot off of Frankenstein, took a world that had already caught Egyptian fever when Tutankhamun was discovered in 1922 by storm. It was a massive box office success that spawned several sequels at Universal and inspired many more films from other studios such as Hammer films. Stephen Sommers remade that iconic film in 1999 with stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weise, and Arnold Vosloo reviving the iconic horror film into a modern action/adventure franchise that spawned two sequels and a spin-off series in the form of the Scorpion King. With a new Mummy film set for 2017 starring Tom Cruise, the Invaders wanted to raid the tomb of these two Mummy movies and see which Imhotep is immortal and which one will crumble to dust.
