Wikifreakz heads up north in this episode straight to the arctic! We kick it off with INUIT CLOTHING and then taking a deeper dive into the INUIT PEOPLE. INUIT SIGN LANGUAGE, a sign language signed only by those in the Inuit community, is nearly an extinct language. It could go the way of MARTHA'S VINEYARD SIGN LANGUAGE, which unfortunately is entirely extinct but in its heyday nearly ever resident of Martha's Vineyard signed it. Why would unique dialects of sign language exist within a community for generations and then one day disappear? Emigration for the latter and ENDOGAMY for the former. And an interesting side effect of ENDOGAMY is the FOUNDER EFFECT, when a group of homogenous genetics somehow produce an anomaly. Smaller gene pools mean INBREEDING which leads to FACIAL ASYMMETRY. Apparently all of our faces lean left unless you're one of the 2% of hotties. We end this genetically diverse episode with the BIG FIVE PERSONALITY TRAITS in an effort to better ourselves and better our social interactions. From the tundras of the north to the rich inner world of our self expression we take a trip on this episode that you won't want to miss!! This episode starts with an American Soccer Match, THE MLS CUP 1996. That's a hard pass for us WikiFreakz, so we move on over to the weather -- HURRICANE LILI to be precise. She was a storm that lasted for nearly a month. Following in Lli's wake, we take a turn over to CUBA just like Lili did. And from there it's off to the 4th MILLENNIUM BC which is the first recorded human life in CUBA!? WHAT! And you know what else was invented in the 3000 BCs? ASTROLOGY AND ALCHEMY! Pseudosciences that begot charlatans such of the grandfather of one of the most infamous pyramid schemes CHARLES PONZI! From goooooals to fakers this episode is chock full of fun! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow WikiFreakz IG and Twitter @wikifreakzz ————————————————————————————————————- Follow Jill Weiner on IG and Twitter @jill_lives www.jilllives.com Venmo @jill-weiner-1 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Connor Creagan on IG and Twitter @connorcreagan www.connorcreagan.info Venmo @connor-creagan
From the TRIUMPH OF CLEOPATRA to the MODERN PAGAN, this episode is a delightful trip through the history of art and human sexuality. We start with the orgiastic painting, TRIUMPH OF CLEOPATRA, which makes us want to know more about the history of THE NUDE in art. That revelry takes us to India to the KHAJURAHO GROUP OF MONUMENTS which are very sexy! From there we move over to some not so sexy MONOLITHS which we lose interest in rather quickly, so we steer the WikiFreakz ship back to TANTRIC SEX. And let's face it, the people who are into TANTRIC SEX are pony tail wearing, crystal worshipping NEW AGE believers. And a common sect of new ageism is the MODERN PAGAN. The oily canvass of a 19th century painting to the practices of today's modern pagan, this episode is one for the ages! -------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow WikiFreakz IG and Twitter @wikifreakzz ————————————————————————————————————- Follow Jill Weiner on IG and Twitter @jill_lives www.jilllives.com Venmo @jill-weiner-1 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Connor Creagan on IG and Twitter @connorcreagan www.connorcreagan.info Venmo @connor-creagan

Then it's onto a video so viral it started the trend before the internet was even in existence, of course we're talking about EXPLODING WHALE! And how does a whale end up on the beach? We find out in BEACHED WHALES. Also did you know that when whales die in the ocean their carcasses create a WHALE FALL? WikiFreakz is deep into summer and that means FUN! We kick off episode 201 with HBO's short-lived CARNIVALE which leads us into TRAVELING CARNIVALS. Is anything better than the smell of fried dough and corndogs accompanied by a chorus of cicadas on a warm summer night? There sure is! And it's the FREAK SHOW. Step right up WikiFreakz we're going to learn about some of the best performers to participate in these horrendous shows like LAZARUS AND JOANNES BAPTISTA COLLOREDO who by all accounts were PARASITIC TWINS. From there we double down and move on over to DIPYGUS - a rare condition causing double nether regions. And the most well known performer to suffer from this affliction was FRANK LENTINI, who was a performer from the age of 5. And speaking of showmen, is there any more renowned than BUFFALO BILL. We think not. Let this episode razzle-dazzle you with the tales of summers gone by at the carnival! From Glaciers to the afterlife this episode of WikiFreakz hits on both the ethereal and the tangible. First we take a trip to South America with the QUELCCAYA ICE CAP, but turns out this ice cap is in the second largest glaciated area. So we head on over to COROPUNA the largest glaciated area, which is located in the Andes in Peru. From here we take a quick dip in the HOT SPRINGS and then veer over to THE LITTLE WHITE HOUSE where FDR spent he remainder of his life. He died in the middle of getting a portrait painted — an UNFINISHED PORTRAIT, which is an example of an UNFINISHED CREATIVE WORK. Sometimes an artist’s work goes unfinished because of DEATH. And wait, happens after you die? No one knows but the world’s religions have tried to suss it out with stories of JUDGEMENT in the afterlife. We start this episode where we often do — in the Australian Airforce with pilot, LOU SPENCE. Did you know he fought in the KOREAN WAR?! And man the Korean War was brutal! Mass graves and the BODO LEAGUE MASSACRE in the South and KIM IL SUNG in the North. He had a contagious CULT OF PERSONALITY — a control mechanism often employed by the world’s most autocratic leaders. And what’s are some of the tools used to build these personality cults? THE BIG LIE and FLATTERY! And FLATTERY? Why that’s not all bad is it? Some of our best PICK-UP LINES are well-crafted flattery! Join us WikiFreakz for a tour of the lush region of Madiera! First, we take flight with the seabird ZINO’S PETREL which finds home in the region of Portugal known as MADIERA. And you may recognize the name from the type of wine made there — MADIERA WINE. Madiera has a long and complicated origin story, including surviving the GREAT FRENCH WINE BLIGHT. A blight that devastated almost all Europe’s vineyards but not Assyrtiko a varietal grown in Greece, specifically in SANTORINI. SANTORINI is an island known for its beauty and home to some of the fiercest volcanic action on earth. It is even credited with the myth of ATLANTIS. Then we head under the surface to DIVE SITE also known as WRECK DIVING. From there we decide to take the less academic path veering away from UNDERWATER ARCHEOLOGY and go full steam ahead to TREASURE HUNTING! We learn about treasure hunters such as JOHN CHATTERTON and the crafty and little known pirate, JOSEPH BANNISTER! Nothing like a little sea adventure to break up the monotony that is our lives. Hoist your sails, and join us on the open ocean ya Freakz!
It’s an old school episode of Wikifreakz, and by that we mean we’re going back - all the way back to the beginning of recorded human history! First we kick off in Ancient Greece with ALEXANDER II ZABINAS. Did you know he kicked CLEOPATRA THEA and her husband Demetrius II out of Antioch in 125 BC? And CLEOPATRA THEA was married in a sumptuous ceremony in ACRE, ISRAEL. Turns out ACRE is one of the OLDEST INHABITED CITIES in the world! And so is HEIJŌ-KYŌ, the old capital of Japan. And Japan’s fourth Empress was EMPRESS GENMEI! She ruled the CHRYSANTHEMUM THRONE for only five years. And wait, who is the Emperor of Japan today? NARUHITO! And he is the 126th Monarch of Japan following JAPAN’S TRADITIONAL ORDER OF SUCCESSION. The first emperor of Japan, Kamu-yamato Iware-biko no Mikoto, was claimed to be descended from the sun goddess AMATERASU. And the sun goddess is only one of the “Three Precious Children” of the creator IZANAGI! That’s right Freakz, we get deep into the ancient world in this episode. Listen up and enjoy! As we head into the dark months of winter, WikiFreakz heads south — VERY SOUTH. Antartica! We start with MOUNT TAKAHE, a dormant volcano on the southern continent. And what does Mt. Takahe abut? Why it’s the AMUNDSEN SEA! Did you know that one of the US’s first expeditions to Antartica was OPERATION HIGHJUMP - an operation in which three men lost their lives. And they weren’t the only ones; there have been quite a few DEATHS IN ANTARTICA with the biggest disaster being the MOUNT EREBUS DISASTER of 1979 when 257 people perished. One of the causes of the Erebus Disaster was a WHITE OUT caused by snow which made the horizon disappeared from view. And from him we take a quick trip over to the UNIVERSITY OF PARIS where we learn about the thrilling events of MAY 68 — actions in the streets known as WILDCAT strikes. Turns out those same wildcats roamed Canada, too. There, members of Air Canada went on strike after heckling LISA RAITT who worked for the Canadian transportation office. One of the most significant being the assassination of the King of Yugoslavia, Alexander by the murderous VLADO CHERNOZEMSKI! Jill and Connor kick off episode 72 of WikiFreakz with the THE SPALDING WAR MEMORIAL, which was built in remembrance of FRANCIS MCLAREN who actually didn’t die in the war. Yes in fact it was designed in the style of the MUGHAL EMPIRE. And what were some other aspects of the mughal empire? Why the RED FORT. And what happened at the red fort? Jill and Connor recorded this episode from two different locations, which is why the audio is little off, but hey they’re doing their best. And you know what’s historical and was built out concrete? The COLOSSEUM! And wow what a place, they had mock sea battles or NAUMACHIA in that thing!
