Time dilation is a funny thing. For many, we understand there's been a bit of a gap between episodes. For us, however, it's been mere minutes since our last appearance – but thanks for sticking around nonetheless, as we're finally back to discuss Hans Zimmer, Christopher Nolan, time, and Interstellar. Join us as we chat all things organs, pianos, space travel, and answer the question of whether Interstellar is Zimmer's greatest score of all. This ground-breaking album is the first of its kind – devoted entirely to new music written for the woodwind orchestra. It features outstanding performances by the principal woodwind players of the Czech Philharmonic, conducted by Shea Lolin, and includes four world premiere recordings. The recording was made to both promote British composers and to give focus to the woodwind orchestra. This program showcases the woodwind orchestra in all its voices: Overture for Woodwinds is bright and lyrical, while Pantomime is joyously comical with moments of heartrending nostalgia. A notable shift in the language comes with Dreamtide, which is a beautiful expression of the subconscious, with delicate and tender lines. Battle Symphony is a pictorial suite containing elements of pastiche in ten highly original sections. The album concludes with Twisted Skyscape, a vibrant and excitingly powerful piece.Conductor Shea Lolin is a dynamic and versatile freelance musician living in London. His principal studies were in clarinet performance, composition, and conducting at the Colchester Institute, and he has since developed an inimitable portfolio career as a conductor, performer, and teacher.A second album of world premieres for woodwind orchestra, Chromosphere, will be released by Divine Art in early 2024.TracksPhilip Sparke Overture for Woodwinds (6:10)Gary CarpenterPantomime* I. We continue our journey of instruments through the Woodwinds of  Israel.  The Khalil was a unique pipe, perhaps most likely a pan pipe.   The debated history  lies in a controversy of the transliteration  between an instrument and an expression through music that such a pipe  causes through dancing.  Archeologically it evolved into the modern  flute as we know it today that is played during feasts (S2 was recorded  during the Fall feasts) and at funerals. Finally we conclude with a  presentation of various woodwinds by USC Thornton faculty Adam Gilbert,  director of the Early Music. 1. Saugus Marching Centurions: Road to Washington

In the first two episodes of Saugus Marching Centurions: Road to Washington, you've heard about all the ups and downs we've experienced over the past few years. When we left off last time, we had just experienced our first SCSBOA championships in years, coming in 6th in our division. And then, we got a surprise email inviting us to participate in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity… marching in the official Washington DC Memorial Day parade next May. It's important to understand where we've been, what we've overcome. It's our history… and our foundation. But that was then, and this is now. And what really counts… is what we do from here.SUPPORT THE MARCHING CENTURIONS: Help the SHS Marching Centurions get to Washington!Listen, subscribe, rate and review. Each band parent donates around $1000 per year but that doesn't include extras. In a long hallway, curious echoing sounds leak through the walls; a piano's chords ground our footfall, assuring us we are not alone. Rainforest and jungle sounds manipulated into white noise pads call out from the periphery, until gentle cello takes us by the hand, leading us through the wilds beyond our seeing. Woodwinds and skipping synth say, "nothing is quite what it seems." We are in worlds within worlds, layer upon layer peeking through. A wash of reverb and keyboard melt the walls, the noise outside quickly hushed. A cradling bed of synth shines through, resetting the landscape, revealing the possibilities of this other world.Original music from composer Ryan Holladay.Meditative Story combines extraordinary human stories with meditation prompts embedded into the storylines — all surrounded by breathtaking music. 1.
