And Jove mentioned in the podcast the 2000 movie What’s Cooking. Jove reminds people of the microloan site Kiva and Andi reminded people of Heifer International, which provides domestic animals to people in developing nations. Jove also brought up Laundry Love, which helps low-income and no-income people and families wash clothes and bedding by partnering with groups, schools, and local Laundromats. And she brought up Socks for Soldiers, in which people actually knit a pair of socks for an active-duty soldier. If you can’t knit, there are other ways to help.   And Jove would like everyone to know (because Andi doesn’t like to talk too much about accomplishments…lol)  that Andi’s holiday reboot of Dickens’ Christmas Carol, The Bureau of Holiday Affairs, was one of six LGBTQ+ holiday books included in a write-up in the “Happy Ever After” section of USA Today, under “Rainbow Trends.” Go see.   ALSO! Dirt Road Books is releasing the anthology Learning Curve. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Australian organization One Girl, which helps provide education for girls in Africa. So if you’re looking for a new read this holiday, and want to feel even better about where your money goes, we hope you consider buying it.

Women and Words Overview 17-23 November 2018 Andi is on the road YET AGAIN, but Tucker the merry elf is along for the happy fun times and who knows what he’ll get up to. Also. Jove had a run-in with a router (the tool kind, not the wifi kind) and her thumb is still in recovery, but it’s doing better than it was. And the West has three seasons. Winter, spring, and fire. Women and Words Overview 10-15 November 2018 Andi and Jove appreciate that Erin Saluta brought up books with military themes in honor of Veterans Day, and they raved about veteran/retired police sergeant Lynette Mae’s work not only as an author but also a candidate for office, and yay to all the women who are going to Congress come January for the new term! Women and Words Overview 13-19 October 2018 Andi and Jove have massive cases of feels throughout this week’s podcast. Maybe it was the nostalgia. Or the warm and fuzzy stories about Noah. Or Jove’s prep for the grandbaby. Or the warm and fuzzy stories about creating family. Or hell, maybe it was the awesome blogs by people who had warm and fuzzy things going on, like how awesome young people are. Or the great photos from readers that Andi posted. Women and Words Overview 1-7 September, 2018   Jove schooled us on the teachers’ strike happening in her district, which means a house full of kids not sure WTF to do with themselves, but fear not! It’s a teachable moment, and Jove is engaging all the youngs with why collective bargaining is important, and what it all means. Go, Jove! Women and Words Overview 4 -10 August, 2018 Andi is on the road yet again, but would like to report that one of her flights had a really hot crew AND a woman pilot (which just makes things even hotter). Both Jove and Andi got weepy over Lynette Mae’s blog regarding her campaign and then they  talked about writing process (WHAT?) which ended up going into a long discussion about taking care of your mental health and depression among creatives.
