The Substratum Protocol is a scientific initiative to explore and investigate an unnatural, cosmic portal that has appeared at the very center of the Earth's core. At the time of its arrival, a massive fracture split the planet and swallowed entire cities. The first scientists to attempt any form of data analysis from signals emitted by the portal struggled with their sanity afterwards. Using patented DSPT Mk II exo-suits, a team of scientists will descend into the Fracture and travel to the portal to close it before things get even worse...   This game is WILD! Using the Hints & Hijinx engine which pits *depreciating* step dice skill rolls against a deck of playing cards, stress mechanics which aid understanding the unfathomable at the expense of your die results, and 10 levels of increasingly trippy areas to explore, this game is a blast. Substratum is a noun that refers to a foundation or basis of something.  The Latin prefix S-U-B means ‘below,' while the root word stratum, also Latin in origin, refers to a layer. Something below a layer could be thought of as a foundation holding things up from beneath. Our word of the day began as a geological term that referred to the foundation beneath the earth's surface. More recently, it's been used to refer to any kind of foundation, for example: The substratum of our business is good customer service. Without that firm foundation, we wouldn't be the biggest shoe store in town.

This episode examines the terms of Substance and Substratum as used in Aristotle's works. We also go over what it means to define something, and what to do with terms that cannot be defined. Substance is "that which cannot be predicated of something and nothing can be predicated of it." Substratum is what undergirds certain realities. I am just beginning my understanding of these concepts, and I discuss how I may be understanding these things incorrectly. However, this episode is an example of how I am trying to record my intellectual journey. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/parker-zurbuch6/support

Crypto Basic Podcast: Teaching You The Basics of Bitcoin and the World of Cryptocurrency. CryptoBasic

Welcome to another episode of the Crypto Basic Podcast! Today the gang is doing a self-reflective session on our predictions and critique of various coins and projects throughout the time the podcast has been active. How did we do in making judgments and assumption on projects such as Substratum, Kucoin, Bitcoin Hex, Tether, Divi, Dragonchain and others? Did our scam callouts turn out to be scams? All of the above and more on today's episode of the Crypto Basic Podcast. Coins CryptoBasic called out on previous shows, how did they end up? * Substratum * Episode 1 ( https://www.cryptobasicpodcast.com/home/161 ) * Episode 2 ( https://www.cryptobasicpodcast.com/home/substratum ) * Our position on the? VERY hard scam. We had 3 full episodes and talked a lot of shit with their community. * Subreddit has been dead since 9 months ago. * Highest price point AFTER the 2017 bubble - *$.82* in May of 2018. For reference we released the first episode warning listeners of the scam in November of 2018. * They raised $13M in ICO funds and delivered nada. * They announced that they were seeking private funding in September of 2019, and now it is a completely dead project. * Verdict - WE WERE RIGHT * Kucoin * Episode where we first mentioned Kucoin ( https://www.cryptobasicpodcast.com/home/exchangecoins ) * Our position on them? Lukewarm. Mike really liked them, but I didn't like their pyramid style marketing. I also had some issues with their interface. I never went so far as to call them a scam, but never trusted them with a single cent. We did pull the referral bonus from the shownotes. We called the flags "offwhite" * Hilariously shitty MLM style video. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VM9NYqzVyWU ) * They're still operational, subreddit is booming, and they're one of the exchanges with name recognition. * Storytime about Kucoin. My first troll. * We did cover some of the red flags over the course of the time after we talked about them. They had some issues with where their location was and they got * Highest price point after the 2017 bubble - $4.99 May 2018 * Current price as of recording - $.81 * Verdict - We were basically wrong here. More risk than a high end exchange, but they're ranked just below Gemini. * Cryptopia ( https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/ ) * Our position on the scam: I wouldn't put my money on the site. Didn't call them an outright scam. * Went down on July 3, 2019. * They're still in liquidation. * People will not be made whole. * Bitcoin Hex * This is an ongoing scam - I want to do a red flags episode which we'll record next week on Bitcoin hex. * Right now, they're still kicking. * What I remember is that Trevon James, a previous Bitconnect shill, was shilling it. * I went to his Youtube. HO LEE SHIT * Some great fucking titles * "5 steps to turn $200 into $200,000 with Cryptocurrency" * Vitalik Sent me $600,000 worth of HEX * How to Make Money with Crypto (holding up stacks of USD cash) * Why HEX can EASILY reach $1 * Hex is up 315% what a scam right? * Verdict - Episode next week. * Tether * Our position - Tether is a scam. It is not backed, and you cannot trust it. * Price - $1 * Price - $1 * Stop using Tether * Tell Story about how easy DAI is * Divi * Episode on the Divi Project ( https://www.cryptobasicpodcast.com/home/divi ) * This was a coin we did a 101 on and Karim and Mike definitely disagreed on the evaluation. Karim didn't call it a scam, he just didn't like the project. Here's what I remember about Karim's negative thoughts - this was the only coin that ever had one of their team members have a rational response to it. * Coin Market cap doesn't have data that far back, oddly, but the earliest they have the price was $.009. per coin b ack in November of 2018. * Today's price - $.04 - a 440% increase * Verdict - Wrong for now, probably eat crow. * 79th in Market Cap * Dragonchain ( https://www.cryptobasicpodcast.com/home/dragonchain ) * Our positoin - Lukewarm again. Karim didn't say it was scam, he just didn't really like it. This was a project that was essentially making itself turnkey ICO launchers. Well ICOs aren't really a think anymore and their first ICO's didn't go well. * The subreddit isn't VERY active but it is actiev. * Post 2017 bubble highest price - May 2018 $1.35 * Current price $.089 * Verdict - Right to be skeptical of the project, certainly not a scam yet. * FCoin * Our stance - we released an episode called "Is Fcoin a scam" our answer was fucking yes it was. ( https://www.cryptobasicpodcast.com/home/fcoin ) * If you go there on coinmarketcap - it says "we have received reported of impeded withdrawls due to insolvency" ( https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/fcoin/ ) * They shutdown around February 2020 and blamed "poor auditing" for the shutdown, as they were transferring out tons of money from their cold wallets. ( https://cointelegraph.com/news/fcoin-blames-poor-auditing-for-shutdown-but-others-suspect-exit-scam )

To know requires understanding how the world is moving, and will this coin solve some greater need in the future? On today’s episode of The Bitcoin Crypto Mentor Mastermind show, we are joined by 16 year-old app developer, Jai Bhavani. Siddhananda's journey began in her teenage years. It wasn't until she was around 30 that her journey and seeking of truth began in earnest. At this time, Spiritual practices were picked up on her own, and Kundalini spontaneously awakened due to a sincere prayer of wanting to be of service to humanity. She was not prepared or had any idea what this awakening would open or where it would lead. With this awakening, many phenomena, shifting states of consciousness and radical mood changes manifested which left her extremely ungrounded and shaken. After a long period of struggling to understand what was taking place and being unsuccessful at coming to any balance or peace within, Siddhananda found her Guru, GuruSwamiG. Siddhananda has been with her Guru for 10 years. Increasing stability, deepening states as well as balance slowly filtered in during this time  due to  her Guru's  grace and guidance. Recently, a profound shift took place in which all sense of separation and individuality suddenly dropped. Spontaneously, a starkly different reality was revealed–an immediate non-dual, pure beingness in which there never existed an "other".  This presence (One without a second) has remained and is known without a doubt that it is the truth of what all of humanity truly is at the core. The roles of local disturbance history and microhabitat parameters for stream biota

The identification of factors that cause the patchy distribution of organisms in space and time within natural ecosystems is a central concern in ecology. In running waters, disturbance by bed-moving flows has been recognized to contribute to this patchiness, but the mechanisms behind this process are still poorly understood. Recent research has revealed that most bed-moving spates and floods cause a small-scale mosaic of stream bed patches of different substratum stabilities (sediment scour, sediment deposition, and stable patches). The aim of the present research was to investigate the separate and combined roles of this “local disturbance history” and microhabitat parameters in determining the small-scale distributions of benthic stream organisms (bacteria, algae and invertebrates). The first three chapters of my thesis investigate bacteria, algae and invertebrates after natural spates and floods in two gravel-bed streams, the Schmiedlaine in Bavaria, Germany, and the Kye Burn in the South Island of New Zealand. The final chapter describes a manipulative experiment in the Schmiedlaine in which the stream bed was disturbed manually to obtain a better understanding of how disturbance history affects stream organisms. Local bed movement patterns during several natural disturbances were determined using metal-link scour chains. The same chains were also used as reference points when selecting stream bed patches for manipulation during the experimental disturbance. Quantitative samples were collected several times from random sites before each disturbance and from scour, fill and stable patches after each disturbance. In addition to sampling bacteria, algae and invertebrates, we measured primary production under controlled conditions in both streams and bacterial production in the Kye Burn. For each sampling site, we determined several abiotic and biotic microhabitat parameters that are known to influence the distributions of stream biota, e.g. water depth, substratum composition, near-bed current velocity and standing stock of particulate organic matter (POM). The results of the correlative studies suggest that local disturbance history plays an important role in determining the small-scale distributions of stream bacteria, algae and invertebrates. Disturbance history was related to distributions of all three organism groups both directly and indirectly (via effects on habitat parameters) and significant habitat parameter effects revealed previously undetected history effects in several cases, indicating a strong interaction between disturbance history and the better explored habitat parameters. Bacterial microdistribution was related directly to disturbance history at least as often as to any of the other nine studied habitat parameters (except for the surface area of the sampled stones in the Schmiedlaine). The relationships of local disturbance history with algal distributions were not quite as strong. In the flood-prone Schmiedlaine, substratum characteristics and current velocity were related to algal distribution at least as often as disturbance history. In the relatively more stable Kye Burn, there were no direct influences of disturbance history on the algae. Substratum characteristics, water depth, current velocity and POM were the habitat parameters with the highest numbers of significant relationships. However, disturbance history also influenced algal distribution indirectly in both streams, and this indirect influence was particularly strong in the Kye Burn. Primary production was always similar across bed stability types in both streams. Averaged across both streams, invertebrate distribution was related only to near-bed current velocity more often than to disturbance history. In the Kye Burn, disturbance history and water depth were the habitat parameters that were related most often to invertebrate distributions. Further important parameters for invertebrates were substratum size and epilithic algal biomass. The observed relationships of benthic densities to the investigated habitat parameters were largely in accordance with previous microhabitat studies for benthic algae and invertebrates. These results also show that benthic bacteria in streams appear to be influenced by similar habitat parameters as benthic algae and invertebrates. The findings of the experimental disturbance in the Schmiedlaine generally supported those of the correlative research, lending more weight to the generality of the results. Local disturbance history influenced directly algal microdistribution in the stream bed most often, followed by near-bed current velocity, total invertebrate density and the surface area of the sampled stone. Primary production was also always similar between the three bed stability types. In contrast to the benthic algae and the correlative study on bacteria, bacterial microdistribution in the experiment was influenced directly solely by stone surface area. However, disturbance history had a strong indirect influence via habitat parameters on bacterial distribution. For invertebrate distribution, disturbance history was the parameter with the second-highest number of significant relationships after current velocity. Indirect effects of disturbance history on the stream organisms were similarly common as in the correlative studies and significant habitat parameter effects revealed previously undetected history effects in several cases, confirming the strong interaction between disturbance history and the better- explored habitat parameters. The combined findings of the present research provide substantial evidence that local disturbance history is an important, and previously unrecognised factor contributing to the patchy distribution of stream organisms in space and time.

EPISODE 177 - FLAGSHIP 70 This week's top story - Tether is in trouble again. Is this a tale of sound and fury signifying nothing like the Bitcoin Maximalists such as Adam Back would like you to believe? Or is there something more going on here? Then apparently said jk. Then Vitalik got involved and said to come to Devcon in Denver. THe internet erupted. How absurd is it that someone can just say one word on the internet and have the internet in an uproar. Then Elon asked what should be developed on Ethereum and Vitalik replied with a mini tweet storm on projects with different use cases he likes on the Ethereum platform MolochDAO, Ethereum Name Service, Ethresear.ch, Hurricaneguard.io were all named. then a bunch of trolls on twitter said dumb things about tesla and crypto. Justin Sun got in there to mention Tron, all the regulars (Pomp, Ari David Paul, Neeraj) hope something comes of it at some point Crypto_Brahma Scam - Brent I don't know anything about who this was before - but I looked into it a little bit because of this letter I came across on Twitter to his "group" . He ran a paid Discord group where you could join and get some trading advice and get gems from him. ONLY 35 MONTHLY MEMBERS....but he was actually running two of these exclusive groups simultaneously. It was called the fucking Moon Club Apparently at some point he decided to do a fund. He just needed to clear his head so that he could trade in a stress free environment. Timeline - 5 Months. LOLOL Millions in Crypto Stolen first quarter 2019.... and its gonna need laundering (Karim) Article based on a report by company called CipherTrace, 'Q1 2019 Cryptocurrency AML Report' Estimates $356 million stolen, and payments from US based exchanges to offshore crypto wallets up 46% $16m from Cryptopia in January CoinBene and DragonEx (Singapore) combined $46m in March (ETH backed) Bithumb in S Korea $13m in EOS stolen and (allegedly) another $6m in Ripple Company described it as an "accident involving insiders" lol Coinbin also S Korea forced into bankrupcy after loosing $26m, blamed an insider And then there's QuadrigaCX... The report 'tentatively' categorized the $190m as theft as opposed to hack or exit scam Bottom line this money has to be cashed out in innovative ways to turn it into cash, and a lot of ways to exit US and European jurisdictions. Article concludes with a warning that "A tsunami of tough, global antimoney laundering and counter-terror financing regulations will “roll over” the cryptocurrency ecosystem throughout the coming year", Even links to an article showing Finland just recently adopted AML regulation for crypto But one thing to keep in mind...... Austin Transportation Partners With Iota Foundation to Develop Interoperability Ecosystem ADAM visions of a system in which every transit system can interact with the same payment app and a single digital identity this is the second partnership this week. the other is United Kingdom car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover will use Iota’s distributed ledger to reward drivers with cryptocurrency for data reporting Iota and internet of things (IoT) firm Evrythng announced a partnership to combine and apply their distributed ledger and IoT technologies to provide greater transparency for consumer goods supply chains Bank of America secures patent for risk assessment of cryptocurrency transactions; (Karim) BOA secured a patent on April 30 for a cryptocurrency risk detection system. On the basis of the system, a risk score will be levied on cryptocurrency transactions between a customer and a third party. 'Processor' would receive request for transaction with third party, then it can "perform a slew of functions, retrieve blockchain information, determine the value of crypto in the transaction or calculate the “risk score” of the transaction based on the preceding factors." BOA also filed for a patent for crypto storage system for business transactions (Aug 2018) CoinMarketCap turned 6 yesterday - Adam Happy 6th Birthday! DATA Alliance, Block Explorers and more - CoinMarketCap transparency alliance for cryptos and exchange. Basically KYC list of 17 things for crypto and 24 for exchanges starts in june 14th CMC blocks explorers much like etherscan which will help users have more visibility into the blockchain merch shop finally have an Android app ios updated version (so the search function ACTUALLY works) Main Story - Tether situation - Brent The NY Attorney General released a statement saying that, among other things, Bitfinex used Tether to mask a missing $850 Million of their assets. The response to the NYAG releasing this from Tether? Decidedly hand wavey - First it was from Bitfinex not Tether, but they're the same. They basically say that the money was "seized" and not hidden. They're setting up for the ol' "if they hadn't said anything it all would have been fine" defense. Lets do a recap of the Tether red flags, YES red flags. The original white paper is unequivocal in the backing of Tether - it will be backed on a 1:1 basis The Paradise Papers leak showed that Phil Potter and Giancarlo Devasini are both a part of There and Bitfinex. $30 Million dollars was "Stolen" but don't worry Tether won't be redeeming those Tethers so it's all fine. They hired and fired an auditor named Friedman LLP. They took any promise of getting audited out of their FAQ. A few months ago we reported this but it bears mentioning again - Tether took down it's 100% backed statement and replaced it with a new one. "Every tether is always 100% backed by our reserves, which include traditional currency and cash equivalents and, from time to time, may include other assets and receivables from loans made by Tether to third parties, which may include affiliated entities (collectively, “reserves”). Every tether is also 1-to-1 pegged to the dollar, so 1 USDâ‚® is always valued by Tether at 1 USD." Now it gets even worse. The Lawyer for Tether has admitted to the court in plain english that as of April 30, Tether is only about 74% backed by fiat equivalents, which is cash and short term securities. It looks like this "seized" amount is a line of credit from Tether to Bitfinex, which is most likely going to function as one of those cash equivalents. Tether did say that the terms of this credit line were negotiated "on an arms length basis on commercially reasonable terms" Both agreements were singed by the same guy - Giancarlo Devasini. Attorneys are arguing that Tether doesn't have to be 100% backed, it totally says so on the website. If BSV got delisted because CSW is an asshole, I'm really hoping the community would put pressure on the exchanges to delist Tether. They aren't. Bitcoin maximalists like Adam Back seem to be aligned with Tether her, even comparing it to fractional reserve banking saying that it's way better than them. Sometimes the Bitcoin community makes it really hard to like them. Finally - the ETH wallet on Bitfinex has been drained of 800k ETH in the last week, and they only have 1.1M ETH left. Good luck to all that have funds on there :( LINKS https://www.coindesk.com/tether-lawyer-confirms-stablecoin-74-percent-backed-by-cash-and-equivalentshttps://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/b0wmuo/tether_once_again_pulls_a_sneaky_update/ coindesk.com/tether-claims-30-million-stable-token-stolen-attacker https://news.bitcoin.com/paradise-papers-reveal-bitfinexs-devasini-and-potter-established-tether-already-back-in-2014/ https://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/fbem/DocumentDisplayServlet?documentId=vIexA1b0spKOnK_PLUS_ZUGTJ3A==&system=prod https://www.tetherreport.com/ https://www.allcryptowhitepapers.com/tether-whitepaper/ Shots Fired!
